Higher

Ed Campbell from Watten, Caithness, Scotland

I've been writing songs since I was 17 years old. I played in bands and gigged regularly for a while, but that was all in the past. Now I just write songs and play for the entertainment of friends and family. Some of my songs can be found at http://music.download.com/edcampbell.

Chris de Burgh has always been an inspiration. His uncompromising "say what you feel" romantic style is a breath of fresh air. Also his folk feel especially the songs that come close to being in a celtic style which have had the biggest influence on me. It is incredible that all his songs have merit. That is something that can be said about very few if any other singer/songwriters.

Lyrics:

When I walk down the road were you used to live,
I see your tears in every drop of rain.
And I feel my heart burst with love to give,
dry your tears no more to feel the pain.
Don't you know that I'll be standing by your side forever baby
and I'll be watching I'll be proud of you.

I'm higher than an eagle in flight,
see how I hunger tonight,
watching as you turn out my lights,
I'm higher than an eagle in flight.

I am here, I am here for your emptiness,
and you'll see my love will never rest.
Through the years to come we'll be alone,
but together we'll bond and make it strong.
Don't you know that I'll be standing by your side forever baby,
I'll be watching I'll be proud of you.

Cos I'm higher than an eagle in flight,
see how I hunger tonight,
watching as you turn out my lights,
I am higher than an eagle in flight.
