Hi Chris,

One of my fellow workmates & fellow Brit has been playing your CD "The Road To Freedom" with its haunting songs of a Father & his son heading off to war, as we drive to work each day. It's so beautiful & now must get the CD to enjoy at home. Thanks for such beautiful music & look forward to collecting more. Happy New year to you & all those you love.

Hi Chris,

Just in a winterdream
Red cherries remind me of you today;
This land where they were grown
It is so far away;
It's there where you are born
And here tonight is holy night
And your wishes are shining on my screen tonight

And I wanna give an answer back to you
An expression of this day, I'm dreaming too
For a moment I click me far away,
Take a walk through a christmas-town these days;
And I watch all the trees here outside,
All are covered in white;

My family is in peace not far away
Many thanks for your wishes to this day;
And I hope that our MERRY CHRISTMAS wishes can go through
To your family and you!

They are filled with music in this year
With joy, come listen here:

Chris De Burgh: I had the great luck to meet you one day as a star struck 17 year old ( 1980)-I sent you a bottle of something pink and bubbly (and probably unbearably yucky), and you graciously signed a thank you to me, in a hallway in Winnipeg Manitoba. Your music means as much to me now, as it did then- and it is wonderful to now share your music with my children -and for them to listen to music with real meaning, that causes them to think and to feel, and know they are part of a very big world, filled with people with much more in common than they first realize. You are still doing wonderful things in the world with your music -congratulations, and have a wonderful holiday season.

Hi Chris and all,

The four candles burn slowly.
The ambiance was so soft
you could hear them talking.
The first one said:
"I am Peace!
However, nobody can keep me lit.
I believe I will go out.
It`s flame rapidly diminishes and goes out completely.

The second one says:
"I am Faith!
Most of all, Iam no longer indispensable, so it doesn`t make any sence that I stay lit any longer.
When finished talking, a breeze softly blew on it putting it out.

Sadly, the third candle spoke in its turn:
"I am Love!
I haven`t got the strength to stay lit.
people put me aside and don`t understand my importance.
They when forget to love those who are nearest to them.
And waiting no longer it goes out.

suddenly....
a child enters the room and sees three candles not burning.
"Why are you not burning?
You are supposed to stay lit till the end". Saying this, the child begins to cry.

Then the fourth candle said:
"Don`t be afraid,
while I am still burning
we can re-light the other candles.
I am Hope!"

When shining eyes, the child took the candle of hope and lit the other candles.
The flame of hope should never go out from your life,
and that each of us can maintain
Hope, Faith, Peace and Love!!!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hi Chris,
I just want to say how much we enjoyed seeing you in the Jasper Carrott Christmas Rock With Laughter shows. Stewart and I really really enjoyed both nights that we went to. The show had such great stars in,and our favourites were Jo Brand, Jack Dee, Dame Edna and of course yourself. Sunday nights show was just brilliant, it kind of had an extra sparkle in, especially when you were looking up Dame Edna's dress......that was just sooo funny, it really was!! I loved you singing White christmas and I loved how all the audience really sang along with it, and also how on Sunday more people got up to dance :-))
Thanks also for making our 2 days in Birmingham so special. We left Birmingham late this morning and I for one was a very happy lady indeed:-))
The only down side of the whole weekend was it was soo dam COLD all the time, even in the hotel where we were staying. When we went down to breakfast this morning, it was freezing in the breakfast area, it really was:-( Basically I was only warm when I was snuggled up under the duvet.....then I was asleep anyway!!!
Now we are safely back at home, and ready to go back to work first thing in the morning. I also hope you had a safe journey home.

Once again, 'thanks' for everything and thanks for just being you!!

Love and hugs as always,

I am thrilled you're playing in Iran. I have been there twice on holiday and even though I didn't buy the Fox News line, I was still amazed at how liberal, secular, friendly and civilised Iran is. For example. Women have almost complete freedom - to vote, get divorced, run businesses, fly 747s for Iranair, etc. The speaker of the parliment is a woman. They are not covered up, just wear a scarf to cover their hair. Ditto for the deliberate mistranslation of Ahmadinejad's comments about Israel - there are two Jewish MPs in Iran and Jewish (and Christian) rights to worship (and buy booze) are protected by the state and taken very seriously.

So these are just examples of how Iran is different to the media myth, and much more like us they are than we think. Want more? Iran has the highest number of daily newspapers per head of population, and the highest number of bloggers per head of population. English taught in schools to a very high level and almost everyone speaks it.

I thank you for defying the stereotypes and looking deeper, and finding one of the most civilised and awesome countries in the world. Peace Charlie.

PS and yes, I can attest to the fact that you have a big audience there! I have heard your music twice in Tehran taxis. You can get in a cab in Iran and basically expect Don't Pay The Ferryman or something off Dark Side Of The Moon.

Dear Chris,

I even don't know if you really can read these many comments written by millions of your fans, but it doesn't matter anyway It's worth trying. Yes, As you may have seen I'm an Iranian young boy and I truly know how most of people who live in western countries feel about Iranians. But you shouldn't. Because most of what they say are negative affects of the media in the West. You should come see for yourself. I mean we have lots of restrictions and difficulties but still it is not like what most of foreigners think about.
You wouldn't believe your eyes if you saw the huge and incredible number of your fans here in Iran. We LOVE your songs very much.
Long story short. We can't wait to see and cheer for you in Iran.

Love,
An Iranian fan.

Hi Chris,
The first time I saw you was 1975 on the "Old Grey Whistle Test". I recall it was a saturday night and my father was searching the channels for something "worth watching" and we stumbled on you in concert.I remember from that moment being captivated by your music. It was also the time it was broadcast simutaneously through the Hi Fi speakers. Yor 2voice was amazing and from there I got your first album "Far Beyond The Castle Walls". Then went to see you in concert at the Grande Theatre Leeds that year. I have followed you now for
32 years boy and man. My daughter also enjoys your music and she is 24. We came to see you at the bridgewater Hall Manchester and had a wonderful night. I get really upset that your records do not get the air play they deserve. I wonder at this stage in you career, if you have every considered letting other artists sing your songs.
I would love to hear classics like " a womens heart2 covered. I heard Tom Jones did "Tender hands" is that correct? Are you considering this? Also I would love you to do a tour like 1975 re-viseted singing the old songs just from your early years that would be amazing. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR. Keep up the terrific lyrics, you continually paint pictures in my mind. I will be eternally greatful for the enjoyment you have given over my life time.

wish you a happy christmas and we appreciate your decision to play in Iran.
i promise, you will not believe how many fans you have here in Iran.please don't change your mind to delay or cancel it.and run your program in the biggest possible stadium (100.000 persons capacity) don't hesitate.no doubt that you can make a highlight in Iran's history of music by performing for largest number of visitors to your play. if your program would be announced well in iran's media , i promise you may get 200 upto 300.000 visitors only in Tehran. believeeeee me.please run it in tehran azadi football stadium in may or june. keep your health cause we love you ....and your beautiful lady and daughter...

Dear Chris,

I want to thank you for your wonderfull songs, I am a 16 year old boy from the Netherlands and I had an addiction to the game World of Warcraft but when I started to listen to your songs something changed. I got a strange feeling and I thought by myself the world has a deeper meaning as your songs. I hope you will come soon to Holland again , Maybe Germany is an option but I want to thank you that you have changed my vision on the world and on my own life.

With love,

Hello Chris,

how are you? I wish You and Your family a peaceful Christmas time and a happy New Year! It's great that your will come on tour next year, but what about the fans of North- and West-Germany? This will be the first time since 1993 that I can't visit a least one of your concerts, because it is to far away, so that I (and maybe other) can't afford the costs for a concert ticket, a train or flight ticket and the hotel/youth hostel. Is there any chance to give a concert somewhere up in the north or west of Germany or even London or Dublin would be much cheaper to travel to?

See You in 2009 or ?
Take care,
Your fan from L?neburg, Sabrina

Hi Chris,
it is short before Christmas and alittle bit to early for Christmas-wishes, but I am remembering, that you'd asked for Steven Spielberg last summer to make you a film to the story
"A Grace Of A Dancer". So Sam, a fan of you in Iran and I were bussy in chatting
and I got the adress from Steven Spielberg from him. He must have been in the USA in July this year. Maybe you know his adress, but here it is hopefully the actual one:
Steven Spielberg
Dream Workanimation Llc
1000 Flower Street
Glendale, CA 91201
USA
or
Dream Works Animation Llc.
(Company)
1000 Flower Street
Glendale, CA 91202
USA
Phone (818)-695-5000
Fax (818)-695-3510
I got it from this Sam and hope it is right.
Chris, that would be great, if you could invite Steven Spielberg to make a film with you about "A Grace Of A Dancer". I think that could become as successful as "Carmen". Unfortunately I don*t know Steven Spielberg as well as you do, so you will have to work it out on your own. Just a joke back to you.
Wait for St. Claus this year. I'm sure he will so his work.
with love
Monika

Hi Chris,

A belated but from the heart "Well done" on a truly great concert in Bournemouth! You and the band were brilliant. A nice mix of old songs, new songs, solo and band songs. Highlights - 'the same sun', 'where we will be going', 'spanish train'. My only disappointment was not getting to touch your hand when you sailed it along the line of outstretched arms at the edge of the stage, right at the end of the show. I could only have been a couple of centimetres out! Oh well, maybe next time! My girlfriend managed to catch your finger, so at least she came away happy! But what a show and I was pleased I saw you so close.

Thank you very much for doing this. Hope to see more of such collaborations. Maybe this way, people around the world can learn more about Iran and Iranian people. Maybe someday they'll stop associating the word "Iran" with the words "nuclear bombs" and start to learn that there are many good sides to Iranian people.

Press your thumbs that this will be possible, though it is just a dream to watch the towns with google-earth and reading about the history. Be careful Chris, Wikipedia tells, that these two towns are the dirtiest of Russian and they had had a lot of problems with health in the past. St. Petersburg the town of "Leningrad"! Hello Mr. de Burgh,
I have been a fan for 30 years - since my girlfriend and I sat by the record player and sang along to your songs for hours on end. I still remember all the words from so many songs and have sung them to my children since their birth! We in Canada would love to see you perform again... Any plans for a Canadian leg of the tour? My girlfriend and I turn 40 in the coming year and though we live in different cities now, we would love to get together to see you perform. We haven't shared one of your concerts in many years. As you know Montrealers have always been your biggest fans! (A hint on the venue perhaps?)

At any rate, its very satisfying to have this opportunity to say thank you for all the lovely feelings your music has given me over the years.
Thank You, from a proud fan.

To be perfectly honest, the ARIAN band is my favourite band in IRAN and most of Iranian youths are proud of them ,it's due to the fact that they are really perfect and expert on their job , I'm sure that's the reason you choose them and I give u my words that you wouldn't be regretfull from contribunting with them, I was wondering if you could plan for a concert with ARIAN band in IRAN .

To Norah's mother in law, John.....

John, I am so sorry we weren't able to get a photo of Chris dancing with Norah during TLIR. We were up in the balcony at the back and it was not possible to take a successful shot.

Please tell Norah that was an amazing moment for the audience too...a very wonderful moment to watch and to share. We were all 'high on emotion' watching you - what a fantastic thing for Chris to have done - but hey, Norah - we are all dead jealous though!!!!

Our love and best wishes to Norah and I do hope someone else can help you.

Arian band in certainly one of the most favoured and also one of the most successful music band in Iran which despite all the obstacles and prohibitions , is obsolutly succesful . The nobel deed of this band is one other sign of their being different. The cooperation of Arian with the well known Irish singer Chris de Burgh is for sure one of the brilliant scores in their art background. It is evident that in the future we will enjoy their higher prosperities.I wish the bests for Arian and also dear Chris.

I took my Mother to see you as my lady friend let me down at the last minute. Thanks Chris, especially...and to your wonderful and talented band members who all gave their utmost throughout the concert. Thanks again, you are great!!

Hi Chris,
Well first please let me say a big THANK You for 4 great concerts last week.
I really enjoyed myself, although I am now extremely tired!! Thankfully I do not start back to work until tomorrow morning (Thursday). I drove 1,300 miles in just 7 days and then took the train down to London for the Hammersmith concert, as I didn?t want the ?hassle? of driving through London.

While in Glasgow, Stewart and I were able to visit some of his relatives, so that was great, as we have not seen them for several years now.

That first show was great, and it was soo nice that you were back performing in the UK again:-) I have to say that in my opinion the shows just got better and better as they went along:-))) Manchester was a lot better than Glasgow, maybe that was because it was sold out and there were a lot of fans there, as of course Manchester is so central. And of course the Bridgewater Hall is such a beautiful venue. There were also a couple of really funny incidents that are still well in my memory from the Manchester show, one being the lady in the front row of the balcony as you did your LIR walk around bit, and then the lady right down in the front row that literally grabbed your face to kiss you as you made your way back to the stage!!! The balcony lady was just soooo funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bournemouth, I just knew was going to be the ?jewel? in the crown and it was !!!! The average age of the audience always seems to be a bit older down there, but my god they know how to have a good time!!!! And it was great that you mentioned your oldest fan Nora Batchelor again and danced with her as you done your walk about bit. I wonder if you remember the BIC from before, after all, you have been there several times in the recent past??..did you not notice how high the stage is there now? When I first walked in I though I was at Brighton, coz the stage was soo high!!! I wish they had left the stage as low as it was before, as I much prefer lower stages as the energy from you to the fans and the fans back to you bounces around a lot easier.

Hammersmith was a completely?different? venue. Although the show was very good, the venue needed much to be desired. It was old and very tatty looking. Even the stage was really old and in a poor state of repair, especially along the front edge of it. The one thing I did like about it was that it had a nice low stage !! Other than that, I can?t help feeling you would have been far better placed in the beautiful Royal Albert Hall. I wonder if maybe the RAH was not available for that night. I?m sure with full band you would have practically sold out the RAH. It is such a prestigious venue, unlike the Hammersmith Apollo. I even managed to catch a glimpse of Diane and the children in the audience at one point. Whow how the ?boys? have grown up!!

Only too soon the mini tour was over and it was time to say goodbye to friends again and then to finally drive Andrea back to Stansted airport, so she could fly back home to Germany.

The end of the tour was a really sad time for me, for several reasons, which I won?t go into here, other than to say I still feel really sad even now:-(

But at least we now know that there will be some concerts in Western Europe?.or should we say Germany next year ;-))))))Please please announce the dates soon as all my staff are shouting at me that they want to book their annual leave for next year, and I?m stalling them for as long as I can, so I can get what I want first?.well I am the boss!!! And I get no other privileges!!!

Ah well, once again thanks for 4 great shows, and Stewart and I will see you again in the Jasper Carrott show in the NEC in December. Whow what a line up of stars he has on that show ??.and I don?t only mean you?.sorry !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I?m ?Missing You? already?..
Love and hugs as ever,
Chris(W)thebluehealer

Thanks a lot for the fantastic concerts during this UK-Tour. I've enjoyed all very much and had a great time!!
It was a bit strange today to drive on the right side of the street... And my German is a bit "bumpy" as well after 10 days in Scotland and England with only talking English :-)))

Hi Chris,

You'll have heard me for sure at Bournemouth and Hammersmith gigs? I do hope so ! LOL

Al Vosper was great for the warm up and his guitar playing for your Concert was something else.

Both concerts I attended were superb. Great having front row seats in Bournemouth yet also loved the front row circle at Hammersmith with 'The Gang'. Btw my husband and I were there 25 years ago when you played there last so Sunday was very special for us!

The Leader with the video footage by Steve Bennett sent shivers down my spine. It had the impact intended for sure. Amazing.

Could rave all night but will end now!

Looking forward to more news of the next Tour!

From the heart!

Hi Chris

Like Peggy, I also found your Bournemouth performance on Friday fantastic.

I have been a 'quiet, in the background fan' of yours for many years, but have never been to a show until recommended by Perry Hughes. It was truly amazing and knowing the story and background of the songs has brought all my CDs to life at home now. The band and supporting act were also superb,as were all the lighting and effects.I also loved the globe!

However, what has amazed me more than ever is that my husband is now a convert too. He was so impressed!

Wishing you all the luck in the world, Chris, and we will certainly come again!!

Hello Chris
What a wonderful concert in Bournemouth on Friday night, the best I've been to - the audience were in such good spirits and the atmosphere was electric.
Can't wait until your next tour. I enjoyed it so much I didn't want it to end.
Hope you and your family have a lovely Christmas - till the next time.
Peggy with love

Still "High on Emotion" after concert in Bournemouth. Your songs brought 22 years of memories of listening to your music and concerts in Dublin flooding back. Just fantastic. The highlight of the concert for me was when you found 96-yr-old "Nora" in the audience and danced with her during the "Lady in Red". What a marvellous woman!! You oozed charisma as usual! Your strong anti-war message moved me and I hope it moves all the right people. Fabulous night! Many thanks.

Another fantastic night with Chris and his band! Hammersmith Apollo does not do you justice Chris. Electric, Fantastic, Touching, Amazing! Your voice and music are timeless and still bring me to tears with the tenderness in the lyrics. Once again your performance was worth the 4 hour flight to see you - will be at NEC in December too (how could I stay away) When will you pay a visit to Portugal or another concert in Dublin - the last one was amazing but long awaited.
Thank you for bringing your music to the world and long may it last.
Fondest wishes
Marilyn "the words I love you" and "same sun" are particularly poignant for me - with love from across

Dear Chris, WOW!! what a brilliant weekend we have just had - Friday in Bournemouth was great but last night in Hammersmith was even better. Great that Al got a chance to perform some of his own songs and then for the next 2 and a half hours you and the band entertained us superbly. All our new favourites from The Storyman AND the all time favourites from past albums. Wasn't sure at first about LIR for your Britney bit but actually it works so well. So glad there has been advance notice of a tour for next summer - which will give us something to look forward to (and start saving for!) Hope you and teh family have a great Christmas and New Year. See you somewhere in Europe in 2008. Loads of Love from your "Ladies in Red" Judy & Kim

Dear Chris, just been reading all of the comments form Bournemouth and Hammersmith, and they're everything I expected to read. As I said in my earlier entry, I soooo wished I could have been there, and if I had been there I would have been coughing and sneezing all over the place!!! Yes, started a rotten cold on Friday would you believe, haven't had one for years, I'm only thankful it waited until after Manchester or I would've been gutted if I couldn't have enjoyed myself to the full. So we have something to look forward to in 2008, I wonder where our holidays will be spent!!!Can't wait, gosh, we spend our lives wishing time away don't we and it's all your fault but oh so worth it.Home update is imminent, love always, Pauline "The Yorkshire Rose" XX

00:45 hrs and just got back from Hammersmith. Wow! the Apollo has landed.

What a fabulous evening that was. That was one of the best atmospheres at a CDeB concert ever. Chris, Band and Audience totally up for it.Audience participation at its best.

Bal Masque still giving me goosebumps. Fantastic live.

Hello to all our new and old German friends, very much look forward to seeing you at future concerts either in Germany or here in the UK.

Your concert in Glasgow last Tuesday was very highly anticipated and EXTREMELY enjoyed. I brought along a friend who wasn't really familiar with your work. A couple of songs in, he began to recognise what he was hearing. By the end he was on his feet and very much appreciated the music and particularly the spiritual and political (with a small 'p') aspect of your songs. Thank you for a wonderful evening. I hope you will be in Glasgow in less than another 5 years. Best wishes to you and yours. J

Dear Chris,

Thank you for such a wonderful concert in Bournemouth. You found me in the early 80's and I am ashamed to say that I let you go when I moved to the US and my cassette tapes went into storage. After returning to the UK a year ago, and having a wonderful friend who took me to your concert as a birthday gift, I have found you, again. Thank you for sharing your fantastic talent and for touching my heart with your stories.

Take care,

Anne

Hi there Chris. How are you doing buddy? I'm doing grand. I just wanted to leave you a comment on your newest album "The Storyman". I bought it in the CD store at the mall the other day, and after listening to it, I think it's a terrific CD. My favorite song on it is "The Raging Storm", your duet with Kristyna Miles.

Anyhow, when I find myself a woman, I have intentions to dance with her to YOUR love songs. Cheers to you my friend.

wow wow wow
you're working with an iranian band!
every one here is happy that you're coming here.
but when i told anyone that you are cooperating with the arian band i felt that it was sadden to them that you are working with arian. because arian is low class
they asked me why are'nt you working with "alireza assar".
do you know him? his 5th album was recorded in london and was played by "London Symphony Orchestra". and all the tracks was written by "shahdad rohani".
do you know him? if you have seen the Acropolis concert of Yanni, the man who conducts the orchestra and plays violin is shahdad rohani.

almost everybody here knows that assar is the best iranian pop singer.
you are the first western singer that is cooperating with iranian singers. i suggest you be also the second one and contact alireza assar and begin a new work with him.
