Hello,Chris! I am glad to wish You and Your family Merry Christmas, HAPPY NEW 2006 YEAR, good health and great piece of luck! Thank You ever so much for You music and beautiful songs! Three monthes ago I bought 2CD "Live in Dortmund". Before that event I knew only "The Lady In Red" and several most famous Your hits. More than two hours I enjoyed Your magnificent concert! That was amazing! I discovered for myself THE GREAT UNIVERSE- Your wonderful songs and ballades! Now I have almost all Your albums, I love them and listen very often. I translate into Russian language the lyrics and tell my children about Your songs. I really love beautiful "The Girl With April In Her Eyes","The Same Sun", "Saint Peter's Gate" and more! And I was intensely touched by songs "Carry Me (Like A Fire In Your Heart)","The Snows Of New York", "Read My Name","The Words 'I Love You'". Really You became "such a good friend to me Through the thunder and the rain". And now "You and I will be forevermore". Thank You so much! And, please, arrive in Moscow again with Your wonderful concerts!!!

Hey Chris,

How exciting everything was !!! I really must tell you something!
Today, one day before Christmas, we weren?t really given lessons in school, so we went to the radio station in Bad T?lz not far from our school. Original because you got mulled wine for free, needless to say that everybody wanted to go there ;-), and we got to see how everything works and so on. It is only a very little one and actually they have never had so many people (20) inside their two small rooms (imagine how crowded it was). Guess what happened, for we all already were there every single one of us had to speak a few words, our name, favourite song and of course that our favourite transmitter would be ?Radio Alpenwelle?. We got a list of some songs and artists and had to choose one of them. In fact I didn?t know them at all, so I was only willing to say anything if I might take a song of you !!! I would have taken ?The same sun? but I had to choose ?The lady in red?, how could it be else ;-), and excitingly called your (one and only, beautiful) name. As a matter of fact I am a big coward but, you know, for you I actually do everything... !
There you can see how a ?survey? looks like, you just get a note and must tell what they say. But I?m not silly, I actually don?t say that a song is my favourite one when I don?t know or don?t like it at all ;o) !

Even there have been a lot of autographs of popular people on the wall, I looked around but no one of you. Apparently you haven?t been there, I suppose, it?s too small :-)))).

Have a nice Christmas, a happy New Year and maybe also great holidays (?). I don?t know if you will go to Mauritius this year again... Hopefully you already have got our Christmasbook by now.

i dont know if chris actually reads this or not but i would like to thank him for his terrific music my 16yr old son was assaulted on 30 october and was unconcious for 5 weeks i played him spanish train and spaceman two of his most favorite songs daily and staff weere asked to play it when i wasnt with him he is awake and alive thank god and im sure chris voice was with him when he was alone i personally woould like to thank him on behalf of darren who is still in hosp with brain injurys he would love a card or a mention from athe club thankyou all so much most sincerely a m finnigan

I don*t know how the Irish like to celebrate christmas, but I have seen at my laptop, that you will sing your "Songs of Praise" on BBC 1 to new years day. Isn't BBC an English broadcasting-station?

I am here in Germany and I cannot get BBC on television or radio. How can I get the chance to hear you singing "Songs of Praise" too? That would be one of my wishes for christmas to hear and to see you singing.Can BBC1 send this songs to one of our transmitting-stations in Germany, where I can hear you on newyearsday? Perhaps to the television-program Arte. And I would wish for christmas to get an information at which time of the newyearsday your songs will be send.

Just one thing I'm thinking about: Did you ever had the idea to take old english christmassongs and sing them on a CD? Sorry, that I am so silly about this broadcasting-stations-tecnology.

Hi Chris! I am pretty new to this web site although I have been a fan since 1983. I had been sulking because I was jealous of hearing about all the concerts that I could not afford to go to. I was at your concert at Marriott's Great America in Northern California in 1984. I was 14 and it was my first concert that I had ever been to. I was at your concert at Sasolburg in 1998. It was the most wondeful experience. You then said that you would be back the following year. I am feeling very sad and nostalgic on this 25th anniversary of John Lennon's tragic death. Q-107 in Toronto is having an entire tribute day, today and I have been shedding tears and remembering all day. For me, this was the same as for those a generation ahead of me when JFK was killed. I remember that I was in my room listening to Q-107 on this day, 25 years ago too, when I was shocked with the news. I was just 15 and can't believe that my daughter is now just a year younger than I was at that time. It is also a bit strange knowing that I am now as old as John was when he died. I just wanted to let you know that whenever they have played any of the Beatles' songs today, that you played at your concert in Toronto recently, I at least smiled a little to myself when I remembered the fun time we all had with you that night. I know the point of today's tribute, "The Dream Never Dies" is to celebrate the life (not death) of John but I feel sadder today than I did then just for the fact that it was such a horrible, tragic loss of one of the world's great story tellers. I'm a music trivia junkie so I have enjoyed that part of today's tribute, as sad as it has been. Thank goodness for the technology that allows us to listen to all you wonderful musicians whenever we want to. I don't mean to be so down, I'm usually a very up-beat person, I just wanted to share these thoughts with all the rest that are feeling mellow today too.

I don?t know how to explain my feelings about your music. When I was very young gilr my dad used to translate me your songs instead of telling me a fairy tales for goodnight. I listened to them an I wondered how positive must be a man who had wrote them. Now I?m old enough to translate them by mysealf. I listen to your music and still feel like a little girl. Dear Chris,

in your first MOTL answer to me you mentioned I should go back into the question in the earlier part of it.
Well, that's right, that I think like you sang about the children and the guns. But there is a question in it too about a lullaby which remembers me to the song "Lady love go back to sleep, dry the tears in your eyes, but....", which I have heard very often going to sleep alone here in Germany.

Times go by and I found something new in your lyrics. The song "Much more than this" and "It's Me". And my most favorite part in it to go to sleep is hearing now "The autumn-leafes are falling on this old cathedral walls, there were candles in the darkness, singing in the chor, and reading......"and the whole words in that melody in this song.

Hi Chris,
well as you know we have just spent a fantastic week in Canada and attended 4 of your Canadian concerts. This was all made only possible by the mutual love we all have for Chris de Burgh's music. None of this would have been possible without it, so for this, we have Chris(de Burgh) alone to thank, so THANKS Chris !! Andrea, Stewart and I were shown such 'love and kindness' by Stephanie and Robert, who took us to soo many places and showed us soo many things. From the rather strange concert in Quebec City, to the beautiful waterfall we saw on the way home from there, even if it was pouring with rain and freezing cold............................we had a great time.

We even learned the difference between a boat and a ship !!!!!!!!!! thanks to Stewart !!!

The other things I will remember so clearly about the actual concerts in Canada is, the audience reaction when Chris first walks on stage....it was absolutely mind blowing.......I doubt even a German audience could top the appreciation, love and warmth that the Canadians showed to Chris, and that I was lucky enough to witness
:-)) it all.
And for definite a UK audience would never ever top that reaction that I
witnessed in Montreal, Trois Riviere and to a degree in Quebec City.

The other one is without doubt the audience reaction to Spanish
Train....whow is all I can say to that one
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lonely Sky and The Tower and
Borderline also brought similar reactions !!!

Sure it cost us lots of money, but for Stewart and I, 'this is our time ' as we have spent 20 odd years with no money as we brought up our kids. Now I intend to 'live life to the full', and am enjoying it sooo much. Would we do it all again.....of course, and basically I can't wait to see Canada again and to meet with Stephanie and Robert ...maybe again in 2007 ? but first I have to work very hard at 'work' to be able to save the money up :-(((((

First of all, I just read about the loss you have suffered, and you and your family have all my sympathy...

Thank you for another superb show in Montreal on November 17th. I think this was your best show yet. (I would have come back on Friday night but I couldn't make it.)

Your entire show was terrific, but the old favorites really "made" the night for me. Love that Beatles medley too. What a great way to end the night!

I think that's the sixth time I've seen you now, going back to the old days at Forum. You just keep getting better! Come back soon, you will always be very special to your Montreal fans. And someday, I have promised myself I will attend one of your shows in Ireland!

I have just seen your Motl answer about the diffent stiles in your music and want to tell you that my first records from you have been "Crusader","Eastern Wind", "At the end of a perfect day" collected in a special Album. The years when I heard your voice at first time for me on these records were filled with them till I heard "Lady in red" on radio, but I suddenly realised that it was your voice. A long time I did not get any information about you and new songs till the year 2004, when I heard you twice in concert with the new Album "Road to freedom". Since this time I discovered more and more new songs from you which I like very much too. And through your website and the Motl I can read from you and see more how you are working and what your thoughts to different things are. I think the most of my music I hear this days is now filled from you and this is very good for me. It is like to read in a book of a famos author, collecting his work to let it be alive in my life forever.

Sometimes I have a simple question to you and try to bring it in the Motl, that I can get an answer from you. I hope one question from me to you will be submitted to you.

I like the songs of Chris de Burgh so much! The first time I listen them was at a friend's home. He like it, too! It's funny cause we are 13, and my mother had heard them when she was a Teenager, too! The songs from "Man on the Line" are for me very important for me. I saw Chris in concert on November 11,2005 in Toronto. Remembrance Day. In Canada we remember those Canadians who fought and died in the terrible World Wars. I detest war. I love and remember your songs Chris that are anti-war. *Borderline* was so moving. At the Roy Thompson Hall, I sat just to the left of center, in the little second row of five seats. (Only two seats were in the front row). Chris, you came off stage and sang right in front of me. I was wearing a white t-shirt from your 1986-87 world tour. All I could do was stare and listen. A lady from the back ran down the aisle and hugged you. I wished I could move. I have been to four of your concerts now, but never so close. It was 18 years since I saw you last. 8 years ago I had two of my favourite songs played at my wedding: *In a Country Churchyard*(real setting) and* Satin Green Shutters*. I am a person of variety and it seems that you are too. You really surprised me during the last 15 minutes of your 25 minute encore, singing Beatle songs. I love to dance though and you got me bopping. Your solo concert was very different for me. I had a good chance to let you know that you have been my all time fave singer for 22 years and I missed the chance. I missed many concerts of yours during the last 18 years because I never went on the computer much. I now know how to keep track of what is happening with you. I WOULD REALLY LOVE IT IF YOU CAN KNOW THAT I WROTE THIS. THANK YOU for making a good difference in this world. Your fan, Vicki

I have been a fan from the beginning, since Patricia the Stripper and Spanish Train. Your music has always meant alot to my husband and I. My husband actually saw you when you opened for Super Tramp.You have been a part of our lives for so long, that when it came to naming our son 17 years ago, we chose the name Christopher. Great show Thursday night (Nov 17) at St. Denis, in the very building where I met you in the men's room at the premiere of Beatlemania (now Rain) in 1979 - a week or two before your Place des Nations show. (There truly was magic in the air that night - a lot of it.) I have been to several shows between the two, and never heard you sing anything from Far Beyond These Castle Walls. My favourite song is Hold On (which sustained me through a series of misguided relationships, but that's another story...), and I would love to hear it in concert just once. Maybe next time you're in Montreal.

I have been to all Montreal Chris de Burgh concert since his Best Moves Tour. I have enjoyed all of them. Each time I go I believe it cannot get better but it does. Just wanted to pass on my sympathy for your family's loss. You have such a strong spirit to be able to "Carry On". My cousin died suddenly last year in Calgary at an early age. He introduced me to your music back in the early '80's and we both felt connected through our love for your songs. "Carry On" is my favourite and helped me through his passing. Your words are inspired and uplifting to us all. I know you have great faith and will be with your loved ones "Up Here in Heaven" one day. Thank you so much for the amazing show in Toronto. What an amazing night! Your Ottawa concert was the most intimate, amusing, wonderful evetn I've ever been to. I grew up listening to my "big sister" talk about Spanish Train and Patricia and in my late teens I started listening to your music. Your music has always mezmerized me but to be there in person to listen to you...just you and your instruments...was truly spectacular. I couldn't believe how your voice could fill the room and vibrate through my head. That you are so interractive with your fans is great...you walked right by me at the end of the middle section (I was the one frantically trying to get my chair out of your way!). A superb evening!

First, I want to thank you for the most amazing night in Toronto. It truly was a wonderful night and my heart goes out to you all, Chris was amazing, to continue on, giving so much of yourself to all of us when your heart must have been breaking for the loss of Diane's mother and not being with the ones you love at such an important time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Friday night was truly a magical party, the music was great, Chris, was in great voice and looked fit and gorgeous. It was touching to see your kindness to the children who came up to the stage and the wonderful time had by all, hearing old favourites and the wonderful encore songs, it was hard to say goodbye. Continued success to you, I'm already hoping for a return visit. God Bless!

With heartfelt sympathy for your loss, and deep gratitude for the many sacrifices you make for your loyal fans. Know that our hearts are with you and yours. I was the one who gave you the Teddy Bear from Wisconsin and the card at the Toronto show. Every time you play in Toronto (or London), it's a wonderful excuse for me to come up to Canada and stay with old and dear friends. Looked for the little restuarant you recommended on the corner of Sadina & College...no luck (there was a Burger King??). Also, there was a wonderful blond lady sitting next to my friend and I who kindly said she would email me some photos....I ran out of film after one shot!! (had a 12 exposure, NOT a 24...urg!) THANK YOU SO MUCH... I can't wait to see them!! It was an emotional night for all..

I just wanted to say I was @ your concert at Roy Thompson hall on Nov.11. It was amazing!!! I've never really listened to your music much, but my step grandma had an extra ticket because her friend backed out so i got to go, and I loved it! My friends will probablt think im crazy loving your music so much being only 15!! Now im doing a project on the lady in Red for music class.

Tonight was a magical night, during your intimate concert here in Ottawa. The ambience was amazing. I sat there, as if part of a huge family, mesmerized by your voice, with my twelve year old daughter at my side. Five rows up, dead centre, eye to eye with you as you manned the microphone, I closed my eyes and drifted away into "yesteryear". I fondly remembered times when I would listen to you with good friends...Dave Ellis, Anna Ritchie, Gord Fanning and Ed Brooks, at my side, back in the days of 1979. Time has been oh so good to you and your voice. Congradulations!
The years have passed us by, but the magic is alive. It lives in your voice.
It was a pleasure for us to be a part of your Ottawa experience.

I was at your Toronto concert last night, and was so deeply touched by you sharing the passing of Dolly. The whole evening felt dedicated to her. I lost a very dear friend a month ago, and have been unable to shed a tear till last night. I cried with you and sent you Reiki to help in your healing. Thank you for helping me feel. Besides that, your concert was beyond words, out of this world. A friend said you were giving a concert in Britain in Feb 2006, I get airline passes, and am coming. Thank you for being in my life. Just a few words to tell to Mr De Burgh...how he is a good singer...I m not the first but...I heart him for the first time well..Didn t know that lady in red was from him...but he got me..in a very wonderful way...I went to buy the last Cd..with 2 cd inside and I falled in love with :once upon the time and..Songbird...they are fantastic songs..written with wonderful emotions we can feel so much your heart..your emotions and you sing and play perfectly.I am a man 59 years old..speaking french..I would have love to have those 2 songs with the chords on your site..but I will look for them ..I play guitar and want to have them.))Thank you so much for this love..share with all the world..Robert

I just want to say that i have been a fan of yours since i was a small child, it was a sunday morning ritual for my parents to make breakfast and have you blasted in the background. i am now 28 and still am a huge fan (not just on sunday mornings) It was always a dream of my dads to see you in concert, but he passed away a few years ago, so i have to say i am excitd and sad for tomorrows conecert, i am sure my dad will be there with me in spirit.
