Let me call you so and the reason is that first I heard you
in far,far 1986-s,when your disk "Into The Light"
appeared.I was shocked.I opened something new for me,something
unknown at that it was unlike the other music,music which
being unlike the other,impressed me,by it sinkere kindness.And
when I saw your photo,can't forget it till nowadays.Every time,
having got your next disk with great difficully,as the prices
were and remain today too high(but usually it takes a lot of
time before we can listen to your next disk) I immersed in your
music world and imagined as if,I were together with you.
Unforgettable time!
You had everything on your way:success and disappointment,but
the time proved that your are "the qiants of music"! I am glad
with to every you success still many ,many years.I always wanted
to know about your as much.I'm interested in both:your life and
work.Will you,please help me ,if it's possible to know more about
you not only as a musitian but as a person.We can understand music
though the musitians thoughts and soul even if we don't understand
the words in English.I would like to speak with you about everything.
But it's a pity it's not possible to write everything in a letter.
A letter is the only means communication with you...
The only hope to meet you and to speak with you it's your concert.
But in fortunately it's very difficult.Heardly I when nor be able
arrive in England single hope if you will arrive in Russia,we
without fall a meet.Dreams...

Regrettably I did not be able close to see in Minsk,Belarus.My by the
daydream was then shake it hands and take autographs.Protections
and police was against this...

In all there is a reason for me it is my love to you. I till now remember that concert in country Belarus. But I already wrote,
that security measures were very strict also I could not thank you for their music,
even having waited 2 hours after a concert in the street, I am unique could to call you
and it he has waved to me a hand. I any more in that age,in order to to shout at
a concert, in the course of time the love to group has developed into something the
greater, than simply interest to group. It is difficult for you to understand as it was
earlier in the USSR (Soviet Union), with what difficulties to us the next albums of you
reached. I remember those times when each new album got with the big work. Now them it is
possible the find - truth bad piracy copies from China. In expensive dear shops it is
possible to order and buy original disks, but they cost stand even more expensively the
present true price... Now much has changed, I could see you "alive", but remained as
before impossibility to receive the autograph of you. I always dreamed, if one musician Chris de Burgh which works I really love and with pleasure I
listen somewhere will come and in my small world of the admirer Chris de Burgh as a photo
with his its autograph. But apparently it only dreams - miracles simply do not happen, and
if are that only for "the elected public". But all the same, my love to music you
and personally to you remain with me for ever. And let dreams will not come true,
but I trusted, and the belief and hope die the last...

Dear Chris de Burg!I'm very sorry,but I have a request for you.Will
you please send me your photo with your original autographs or just
an answer on my letter.For me it would like... a present equal
"the flight to the moon"! Oh,GOD!But it's just a dream,I even can't
hope for it.There are no miracles in reality!?
Having finishing my letter let me wish you everything a person can wish
to his friends:a successful work and a lot of happiness in your life,and
also to continue gladden your admirers with your songs.Thank the time thas
has presented us such a wonderful musician and man.I want you to be happy

Hi Chris,

I received my copy of The Road to Freedom DVD this morning, its brilliant, already watched it 2 1/2 times. It brings back wonderful memories of Birmingham and Manchester, mainly the medley and your walk around with us all, although I was disappointed not to see Living in the World, it is one of my favourites, and is great Live! Don't worry , I know you can't put them all on.
I have written before about how I enjoyed this tour above all others. I just cant seem to get enough of your music this time. It seems like I have also converted my 5 year old son, he sings along with me to quite a few songs.

Keep up the good work, look forward to seeing you again soon. Would love it if you could have a meet and greet here too!!

first I want to say thank you for four great concerts in summer 2004 and for the
best concert I had ever been: DORTMUND!
Thank you for the sound check, it was great, too.

On your new DVD you are talking about your feelings while playing
?Snow is falling??something like a film comes to your mind?
When I look out of the window and see the trees with the snow, then I think
of your song and hear the melody.

After the concert in Dortmund we went on holiday to Fuerteventura.
And there we tried to create a picture of a part of ?The Snows Of New York?:

?when there was just one set of prints in the sand, that was when you carried me?

We had a lot of fun by taking that photo and I think the people around us thought we were a little bit crazy :)

But I try it one more time: nearly at the end of the year I would like to say: thank you very much for what you have done (and fortunatelly are still doing) for the world - especially this year. I think about the "Road To Freedom"-CD and the "Road To Freedom"-European- and UK-tour in particular.
Referring to the "LIVE IN CONCERT"-DVD: a special thank you for singing "The Same Sun" and "The Words "I Love You"" very emotionelly. Hi dear Chris,

In the Netherlands children don't get present at Christmas but we celebrate Sinterklaas with is on December 5th. So this morning when we woke up, we want down stairs to see if Sinterklaas left something in our shoes. The kids were deleted to see that there where a lot of presents. Now the strange things is that Sinterklaas seems to be a big fan of you Chris. Last year we found a membership of the Chris de Burgh fan club in our shoes and this year there was your new DVD in our shoes. When the children were playing with where new toys we watched the DVD and it was great to see and hear all those beautiful songs again. I especially loved the intervieuw with you Chris. It gives us the change to get to know you better. It was great fun to see what you were doing before the show. And Chris let me say this about your household skills.............don't give up your day job!!.

Let me finish by saying; thank you Sinterklaas fot the lovely present and thank you Chris for making it.

Hello Chris,

yesterday I bought your new DVD and spent the evening with a friend of mine listening to the concert and remembering all the great moments during your concerts in Germany. It was fantastic being able not only to listen to your great music at home but also to be able to watch you perform. This year I have been to your concerts in D?sseldorf and Cologne and of course in Dortmund to celebrate your 20th anniversary. And although I love the DVD I must say that Dortmund would have been a much better place to record a concert. The atmosphere there was much better than the one on the DVD from Bielefeld and especially the audience in a much better mood. As I remarked before in this guestbook - Dortmund was the highlight of all concerts I have visited so far. The atmosphere there was totally overwhelming and even more than 3 weeks after the concert I'm still under the influence of that evening. It surely has left a mark ! Therefore of course I'm a little sad that this can't be seen on a DVD. But nevertheless I'm happy about the new DVD !! And of course I hope that there will be a live-CD from the concert in Dortmund as you promised !

The only other question that remains is: when will you be coming back to Germany ???

Thanks again for your wonderful and touching music and your way to present it to your fans ! Don't ever stop making music and coming to Germany !

I have a tape called the "getaway". i play this tape every day at night when i go to bed. The emotions in each song tear at my heart that i feel that i am there experiencing it all. your concert at Westfalenhalle/Dortmund was the most amazing show I have ever
seen! And it was so nice to see you on stage again after having visited
several of your beautiful concerts this year.
Thanks a lot for more than three hours on stage.
At the beginning of the concert, when you came in, it certainly
was an impressive moment for you to see all the lights that everyone in the
audience was waving. The atmosphere in the hall was really great, especially at
the end of the concert. Thanks for the "Getaway" and the "Night in Paris", I
love these songs very much.
Well, the security ... they chased us away two or three times, when we
intended to approach to the stage, but at last we succeeded, and it was
a big party at the front of the stage at the end.

Well, I am glad that you mentioned the Meet and Greet on MotL. Firstly I, too,
was disappointed about the long lasting waiting time in front of the "VIP"
entrance in the cold and the brevity of the Meet and Greet.
A friend of mine even fell over the edge of the little stage and hurt her
shinbone when the rush came from behind.
(Besides, she was the first to whom you gave an autograph.)
I, for myself, I would have liked to wish you personally all the best for
the next 20 years singing and touring, but there wasn't any possibility.
I think it would have been better if the organizers managed such an event a
little bit more, like building up things like barrieres to queue up the
people in front of the stage. Perhaps you have the possibility to influence the
organizers for the next Meet and Greet in this sense, haven't you?
I guess that then more people would have had the chance to meet you more
closely during the almost same limited time.

Your suggestion organizing a seperate Meet and Greet some hours
before a concert, it is great, that would be really fine and then you won't
run the risk of loosing concentration just before a concert. I hope you aren't
bored too much meeting us, the fans, again out of a concert.

I hope there will be another Meet and Greet in Germany soon, and of course
many many of your fabulous concerts in 2005.

Never forgetting this really amazing concert in Dortmund,
all the best for you

Just concerning the MOTL statement from Nov, the 16th

we are NOT disappointed in any way cause we were allowed to listen to the soundcheck-and this was really great!

It?s now two days ago that we saw your last concert this year in Tilburg - it was a bit different from other shows we had seen this tour but we enjoyed it very much! Thank you for signing our shirts!

We were a little bit sad that this was the last show, but we all are also happy that we could see you so often this year. And if we would have done more travel this year - who knows if some morning after another "tour-weekend" our children would say "Who is that woman? Wow - It?s our mum!!!"... ;-)

In Tilburg we did not expect to see you on stage again after "Snows of New York" - it was like a gift when you came back to sing your party-songs! Great to see all people singing and clapping again!

Hi Chris,

my husband and I visited your concert in Dortmund and I had been looking forward to it for months. After it have to say that it topped all what we had expected. I'm sure, it was absolutely the best performance you ever made. Thank you for that great event.

But in point of the "meet and greet" I have to agree to the words of Shaz from Wakefield a little bit down this page. Although I didn't have to travel over 1000 miles but only about 10, I have to say that it was disappointing. First we had to wait more than an hour outside in the cold and nobody let us in and then the announced 30 minutes to meet you have been only about short 10 minutes with no possibility to say anything to you and hardly a chance to get an autograph except e few lucky ones in front of the little stage.

But did I understand you right? Didn't you say, that you would come again to Dortmund(the place where you are loved the most!!)next year? Then I'll be there again to try another meet and greet!

Thank you for your great music that I'm listening to the whole day long for now more then 20 years. I'm looking forward to what you are going to do the next 20 years!

Thank you for the fantastic Dortmund-Concert. It was an evening I will not forget for a long time.

Since I have seen you at many concerts during the last 20 years, this was the very best! Just you, the guitar, the piano and your voice.

I was just so sorry that you did not sing "Rose of England" (as you did at the Bielefeld venue in May 2004), one of my favourites - but therefore there was "Where peaceful waters flow". Your 1982 Album "The Getaway" was my first LP ever bought.

Thanks for another fantastic evening in Dortmund 06/11/2004.

As usual your concert was superb, unfortunately having travelled for twenty hours on a coach and over 1000 miles I have to say that the meet and greet was a complete let down. You have some very dissapointed fans back in the UK at the moment.

I do not know how much you had to do with the arrangments, but I for one felt very let down to have travelled all that way to see a concert I had already seen in Harrogate, and not to actually meet you, which is what I came for.

The only saving grace was the superb concert as per usual.

Still it ended up costing me dear as I paid for flights back and was truly disapointed that I did not get to meet you.

Dear Chris,

I don't know how to describe my emotions for Dortmund, but I try to it. It was really amazing for me, because I've never expected to watch a soundcheck or to hear you solo for the whole concert as I became a big fan of you some time ago. Or that I would stand only three steps away from you as happened by taking the picture of the group.
It was my fist solo concert of you and it was fantastic! Usually I'm a very silent person and not somebody who's dancing around very much. But you have really no probems to change it, either solo or with your band! This evening I was dancing almost the whole time - and singing. From all your songs you've performed, except one, I know the lyrics - and more like other fans, too. I was happy to hear some songs of the Beatles at the end. My father has heard them and I've continued to hear them. This concert has shown me a second time why I've loved your concert two years ago so much - although the people there were not dancing so much like on saturday - and why I will ever love them. You can move the audience only with your voice and your piano/guitar and that makes not only the difference, it also makes you the greatest singer for me.
After seeing you with a band and alone on stage I can compare both concerts with each other and now I know what other fans talking about. To hear you play and sing alone for three hours is really great. I hope I can see more solo concerts of you in the future.
The soundcheck was a great experience for me, because I ever wanted to know how all these things behind a concert work. It also gave me the feeling of a kind of private session for the fanclub, because there was less technical stuff to do or change as I thought it would be in a soundcheck. I was happy to hear a few lines of some other songs of the 80's that I like sung by you such as "Sealed with a kiss" from Jason Donovan and "Crying in the rain" from A-Ha which I also know the lyrics from.
I'm only a bit disappionted of the less time we had after the soundcheck. Since I'm a fan of you I hope to speak with you on some occasion like a fanmeeting or after a concert and/or give you a gift. It was my first fanmeeting on saturday and I hoped a bit to do it there, but all (our song, the group picture) was going very fast and then it was over. But not being in your business I don't have the right to say something about it. I can imagine that it's not always easy to arrange a long fanmeeting. So I'm keep on hoping that someday it is possible on another fanmeeting.
It was my first solo concert of you and I'm really impressed and happy of this evening. And I admire you for the energy you had to sing for three hours or more - I've completely lost my feeling for time during the concert - without any break.
Thank you very much for a fantastic evening with you, your voice, your guitar and your piano!
I can't wait to buy the DVD - if you release a CD and a DVD - of this concert to watch it in the future again and remind me to that wonderful evening. I hope that there won't be so much cutted out, because your chatting between the songs including the jokes is also very nice to watch again.
I regret a bit that the chatting before the songs on the DVD of the special edition of "Timing Is Everything" is cutted out. The way you told of the Octoberfest and Handys before you've sung "Once In A Dream" was very funny. It can only be seen in the main menu, but without the sound.

Dear Chris!
So many people have written this before - but I want to say a big big THANK YOU for the concert in Dortmund. I?m still not able to describe all my feelings about but I?ll try!
We started together with list-friends by car in the morning, checked in at the hotel at the Westfalenhalle, met many, many listmembers while waiting for getting inside of the hall - it was a perfect day and it got better and better!
Than the soundcheck - it was so great, unbelieveable! "The tower" - WOW! How fantastic to hear it! And when you started playing "Once upon a time" in the soundcheck it was hard not to cry - I love this song so much! Some time ago I wrote in this guestbook how much I wish to hear it life, maybe in Dortmund... and a dream came true.
The concert was the best I have ever seen - what a powerfull voice and what an atmosphere in the venue! It?s so hard to stay on the seats... So - if you have seen (and will see again) a little women with lightsticks at the arms, bumping up and down between sitting people - it?s me ;-)... and of course my friends, too. Only "Rufus" was a little bit sad because we could not put him on stage, but he enjoyed the show once again, as he did before very often ;-).
Patricia together with Cesar - can?t find enough words!!! Great fun and it sounded so good!!!
After the show we all met again for our after-show-party and we had much fun! Cesar, Brian and Morton did a very good job playing songs (included "Read our names") and sing them together with us all and also other guests in the hotel had fun! It was a short night - when Heike,Jutta, Ela, Ulrike, Doris and I went to bed we heard the first birds singing... but we were so full of energy!
Now we are looking forward to see you again in Tilburg and we hope to see you in Germany next year again!

Dear Chris.
Thanks for this lovely evening in Dortmund.
You see, living on the islands makes it difficult for me to join events like this, but it was sooooo worth coming there even by plane and car to be there in time.
It defintely was an emotional evening, not only for you - some songs (and memories) made me getting tears in my eyes.
I visited so many of your concerts back in the 80s but then travelling, job and family made it impossible to see any of your concerts again , so for me it was a meeting with you after more than 10 years again.
It was definitely different from the other concerts. My respect to you, you caught the whole audience all by yourself without any band. Unbelievable - but that?s what makes the difference of you.
I was only disappointed, in fact I couldn?t believe it when I ordered my ticket, only seats!! Well, we do get older but I?m still young enough (38) to stand and dance and sing for such a special night all the time. Maybe when you?ll celebrate your 40.anniversairy we?ll be thankful for chairs!!
And now after the 6th november is over, I?m looking forward to the promised CD of the concert in Dortmund. Can?t wait for it!

This day of your concert is her birthday. She will be 17 years. One year ago she lost her only sister Aur?lie (19 years), who died in a traffic accident. What a tragic loss. As of yet I haven't gone to any music concerts but I'd love to go to Chris's if he ever comes to Winnipeg, Canada.I enjoy the whole music experience of Chris's albums, from the lyric's,(Some amusing,some thought provoking)music composition,etc.etc. I'm glad he's keeping up the excellent work.

Dear Chris!
Now it's the day: 6.11. - the day I've waited for since June!!!!! All the preperations are done, and now I simply have to put my things together, sit down in my car at 13.45 p. m., pick up my friend, which will accompany me and drive the 66 km to Dortmund. Today it's a dark and rainy day, but you make the day shining for us! I'm already rather nervous to meet you and all the other fans!!!!

Just want to say that the show at RHA on Mon 18 October2004 absolutely brilliant. This is the first time I've been to a Chris de Burgh concert and I thoroughly enjoyed it the only thing was I didn't take a camera because I didn't think they would be allowed in, does any one have any I could have copies of. Can't wait to go again.

how are you?
Thank you very much for the four new songs. Words are not enough to say how amazing and beautiful they are. Especially I like the song ?Little Angel?. It?s really very moving. They are all very moving. Actually I love the enhanced video very much because it?s so naturally.
When I watch it even more I want to be beside you?

The impossible impossibility

Well, you can?t imagine what happened to me! I bought the new CD, everything was OK and I watched the video on PC because we don?t have a DVD-player. There I was definitely of the opinion that the video can be watched on DVD.
I was so amazed of the video and full of love that I wanted to be able to watch it on TV by all means. Our neighbours always do have the newest technical things and I decided to ask them to take it on VCR cassette. Of course this was no problem and I jumped with my beloved CD to the house next to us. There I noticed with a shock that the video on CD is not a DVD! My neighbour always shows off and, you know, he does have got all the newest technical things but he doesn?t know how to get along with it. First he thought we can simply transform the CD with a special programme on PC. But this didn?t work. We tried the craziest things which could be possible. The whole weekend my only thought was how to get it on a VCR cassette. I thought I?m driving mad, hours and hours we tried different things but had no result.
After two days we gave up. I went home to listen to the new songs and what did I notice?! The CD-player couldn?t play the song ?Kiss me from a distance? anymore. There was a big deep scratch exactly at this place.
So on the next day I had to go to another neighbour to look if hopefully only my old CD-player can?t read it. The funny thing was that they just had bought a new DVD-player by chance! Fortunately they could play the song without any trouble, but only on DVD-player because their CD-one is destroyed. So they couldn?t record it on audiocassette for me.
Wow, a very intricate and complicated thing?
After that we tried to play the video and, guess what happened, the DVD-player could play it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But again they couldn?t record it on VCR cassette because their recorder is too old and no more it can record.

Well, this is the long story of your new CD and me which is inspite of all a bit funny when I think back what everything happened.
Now I only have a CD with a scratch and no video which I can watch on TV? But I won?t give up. :-)

No matter where you are at the moment I love you very, very, very, very? much! I hope you have read or are still going to read my letter I sent to you to your birthday?
