Dear Chris,
A very happy new Millennium to you.
I have seen you live 4 times now - the latest being at the NEC Birmingham on December 7th. There are too few opportunities to see you live as far as I am concerned.
I still play Spark to a Flame all the time and had Quiet Revolution for Christmas. It is wonderfull!
But Borderline is my favourite of all time.

Fan since 1976!

Visited Bargy Castle in 1990 and met the parents of Chris de Burgh (one day after his mothers' birthday)
We got a special "tour" through the castle and we where allowed to make a video.
There is a great dining room (was a church earlier) and I had the chance to play on an old piano...
It was really fantastic.
Many thanks for your music Chris!

Hello Chris,

Again, a wonderful performance in Ahoy Rotterdam. We enjoy is very much.
It was the X-time (I forgot COUNTING) I saw a concert of you and again it was enormous. Still the BEST MUSIC I ever heard in my life. Because you songs are played with LOVE and TENDER like Natasha.
Who is she?
The Beatles would play you?re songs, if?, so please I prefer that you play until the END OF THE DAY your own music.

Karin Jenisch ()

1999/12/23 - 08:25:11

The last CdeB concert I visited was on Okt.,31th in Hamburg. It was realy great, like any other one I've been to (which were a lot ).
Afterwards I went to an irish pup to meet some friends and after telling them abaut the concert I've been asked:" This guy is really a part of your life, isn't he ?"
I was kind of stunned. I've never seen it that way, never even thought about it.
The first time I ever heard of somebody named Chris de Burgh was on my 15th birthday, which was twenty years ago now. Nearly everything in my life has changed during the last twenty years. The things I do, the people I know, the way I think and even the music I like.
There are only three things that last:
My family, a few old friends and the music of CdeB.
Somebody I never met personally and most certainly never will ( what I surely regret ) is part of the few things in my life that lasts.
How amazing !
He surely hasn't changed my life. Not at all. But he somehow joined it. His music eases the bad times and make the good times even better.
For twenty years now, I buy every record and go to every concert that I can reach. And I never thought of it as something special.
Now, that i'm sittig here, writing down my thoughts, I wonder wether Chris ever realisis that his career mean much more than just good music to most of us.
In a time that changes nearly every day I'm going to take the things that last as a gift.
I wish you all a merry x-mas and a happy new year and may Chris go on for many, many years.

Love Karin

P.S.: It tokk me hours to translate german thoughts into english sentences. So I hope whoever may read this, will undertstand.

Dear Chris,
my favourite songs are "my lover is"
and "quiet revolution".
Your concert in Stuttgart was great,
only the acustics could be better,
therefore the songs without the band
seemed more original.
People from about 10years up to 60
listened to your songs. They were going
"straight to the heart"...and I think
your kind of music is part of the quiet
revolution which is really going on...

Keep on writing such songs!
A successful year 2000

Yours Hans-Dieter

Hi Chris!

Thank you for coming to Oberhausen - I really enjoyed the concert. I gave my mother a ticket for her birthday and I must say it was the most amazingly present for her for a long time (I just gave it to her because I wanted to join the concert by myself). So thank you very very much. It was a great event!

I must tell you I am a member of a kind of church-group who designs a divine service for christmas and I played the song "Spaceman came travelling", because I thought it would be very important to give people hope to believe that there will come a leader (as the text says "When 2000 years of your time has gone by this song will begin once again to a babys cry"). I think the people have understood the message. Well, I hope so. But it was real fantastic and I was "high on emotion" when I got the applause from the audience (well, at least there were only forty-five people in the church -> It`s a very small church).

Hope to see you next summer in Grefrath/Germany -> small town (everything around here is very small as me, because I think I'm not bigger than you -> height), because I know I will get a ticket from Santa Clause (I spied!).

See you soon and don't loose your energy of making me happy with your songs,
sweet kisses,

D?rthe

Hi Chris,
joined your concert in Festhalle Frankfurt (Germany). As allways I liked most your single performance with the unplugged character. The best concert I have ever seen in my life was in Mannheim in 1997 when you did that kind of club sessions with P. Oxendale and a quartett of violines and other classical instruments. Do that again. I like unplugged sessions because there is no chance to hide something. Keep on playing for a long time.

I just want to say how sad it is that some of the upper class (or who think they are upper class) - I guess the usual word is 'snobs' who attended Chris de Burgh's Royal Albert Hall concert last Saturday 11 December were unable to move from their seats and actually 'muck in' with everyone else to create a 'party' 'enjoyable' atmosphere that is suppose to be had at a cdeb concert. Luckily, Chris de Burgh and the band did a wonderful, energising concert which made up for the 'damp' and snobbery atmosphere which the minority encouraged.

I have to say that after 10 years of seeing cdeb in concerts and after the excellent concerts in Germany, Birmingham and Bournemouth this year, I hoped that my LOCAL concert would be the best......but of course, the boring, typical, think they are the best type of Londoners (usually owning the new shape Jaguar)..I know, because I live near them all!! managed to take away the electrifying atmosphere which there should have been on Chris' last concert of his tour this year.

So one asks the question - was superglue pasted on the the chairs in the Albert Hall?? Were special pills handed out at the door to make people particularly moody?? Oh no, sorry, it was just the fact that there were too many "I am above the rest" type of people there.

And why were there so many GROUCHY old men in suits at the concert??? Did they think they were attending a rendition of Motzart 'classical' concert? Or perhaps they had fallen asleep at the last classical concert and hadn't moved since 1975?

Don't get me wrong.......I have nothing against upper class/ rich people. I am one myself............middle class, privately educated, degree and all that ...but for heavens sake.....it makes me ashamed to be from those roots......there is nothing wrong with letting your hair down and actually joining in with everyone....no matter what their background. Chris de Burgh's music is for everyone, whoever they are and wherever they come from........thats it's appeal. There are USUALLY NO DIVISIONS at his concerts. But there was on Saturday and that was sad....very sad.

Hopefully it was just a blip!!

I just want to say to all those miserable people who attended - if they read this (although are unlikely to, because they are so boring that they don't even agree with computers!) Please, lighten up and get out of your GUCCI suit and go to the next cdeb concert in your JEANS - go on....let your hair down......enjoy yourselves..have some fun....... who cares what people think of you....you only live once.

ps If any of you feel that you need some therapy...you can surely afford it....I have a psychology and Social Science degree and I'm a qualified social Worker.......maybe I could help you overcome your grouchiness???!!

See you all at the next concert......DANCING!!

Yours

Louise

Dear Chris

I've been a fan for around 20 years and I saw the concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday and it was wonderful!
It was the first time I'd seen you live for 10 years and I was a bit doubtful as to whether you'd still be as good.
But a concert for nearly 3 hours was just incredible! Your new band were excellent and it was a really memorable evening.
The only fly in the ointment were to 2 Beatles numbers (I don't like the Beatles!)
I wish you and yours a very Happy Christmas and I hope that 2000 brings you joy.

With love

Dear Chris

Being a fan of yours since I was 14, I just wanted to say Thanks for the wonderfull music, and for giving so much inspiration and joy to so many people.

Growing up in South Africa, I went to your 1993 concert, which was great. Only problem was, I was 6 months pregnant, and couldn't get up and groove. However, last night my lifelong dream came true. I saw you at the Birmingham NEC, and may I say, the wait was worthwhile. You were FANTASTIC. Three hours of beautiful music, I was on a high all day today.

Once again, thanks for the lovely evening and all the years of enjoyable music. Here's to the next 20!

Dear Chris,

we - that?s my husband and modest myself - had the pleasure of attending your smashing concert at Dortmund last month. It was definitely fine.

What else could I tell you in praise of your talents - I just read so much in your guestbook. Personally, I am charmed by your gifts as comedian. I always love the jokes in between almost as much as the music.

Also, I?m deeply impressed by reading that your multilingual capacities include understanding strange languages such as French (well, that depends, of course) or Danish, just to mention some of them, disregarding Gaelic, of course.

Well, I will never forget the Dortmund concert, when you sang "Rosanna" on my request. We?ve got two little boys, and I think you would agree with me that an experience like that - taking the responsibility for a child and receiving his/her love in return is a gift beyond any measurable value.

Go on making music and touching people?s hearts.

See you again next time

I saw Chris on Watchdog on Friday. He rocked. He should have been on top of the pops though.
He should be Christmas number one as Cliff Richards song is terrible. Chris should record duets as it will widen his audience appeal. Tom Jones and Frank Sinatra both did it to great effect. Perhaps he could consider Jane Macdonald or Beverly Craven.

of irish friends i might know a bit more about it than the most german people, i don't want to start writin'
about politics, but u can remember the bomb in omaha last year in august...i was in enniskillen
that day...one hour drive away...it let u start thinkin' diffrent about life...i lost friends that
day...anyway keep going with your brillinat work and i might see u in ireland,as i'm going to move to ireland
for good next year...galway is waitin' for me...

Your new album is really great! Looking at the songs you wrote in the

But I was deeply amazed by the smashing fakt that you, as such an popular

make many people think of its meaning and make them watch out and reach
out for a better world.

Hi Chris and Band !!!

First of all: thank you very much for the great and beautiful concert in Z?rich two weeks ago.

The first two songs weren't very well mixed or to loud, I don't know. Somehow they had some problems
with the audio mixer. But the rest of the concert was excellent.

The only thing that really troubled me were the chairs. To get the real kick you have to stay in the midst
of a lot of other people who go with the music, too. There are enough seats available in the Hallenstadion
for people who really want to sit, they don't have to put additional chairs in. I'll let the Swiss organiser
know, too.

Nevertheless I enjoyed the concert very much and I really hope you come back to Switzerland very soon, as
you promised.

And Chris: ......... there's still snow here ......... !!!

To you, your family and all the people you care for: A very Happy Christmas and all the Best for the Year 2000 !!!

Dear Chris,

though it?s already one month ago, I often think of your concert in Frankfurt in the Festhalle. I had always liked your songs but I never had the wish to visit one of your concerts all the years. But after a radio station (FFH) in Frankfurt presented some songs of your new album (Quiet Revolution) I became curious and bought two tickets for me and my husband to go to your concert - and now I know what I have missed all the last years!!!
I was completely charmed about your voice and your songs and about your person!
Even my husband, who doesn?t like concerts very much, was fascinated and likes listening to your songs.
We have a little daughter of nearly 3 years, so it was long ago that we had such a romantic evening like this 2 th of november in Frankfurt. And also it will be the last concert for about the next three years - we?ll have another baby next year in may....
Thank you Chris for this wonderful concert, we hope to see you again!!!
I really would like to meet you sometimes personally to talk about your songs, about your person and so on - but this probably will remain only a dream...("A woman?s heart is filled with dreaming...")
Dear Chris, I already wish you a merry christmas and all the best for your future and I look forward to your next concert! I hope you could understand my english, perhaps you could answer my mail???

What shall I say?

I don?t have the words to describe the experience of the concert in Koeln.
All I can say, is that I thought the concert in Dortmund was the best I?ve ever seen - how wrong I was!!!
The absolute best concert was the concert in Koeln.
I could not believe that he really managed this Concert to get so much better than in Dortmund, it was fantastic.
Except for the aching muscles next day. Thanks Chris, for giving us so much joy. I?m going to see you next year in Kassel again and, may be, in another concert too.
Best wishes for you and your family!

Hello Chris!
Thank you for a wonderful Concert last night in Cologne. The one song I would like to hear you play live is The Painter from your first album. In this song one can hear how fantastic your voice is. It is always wonderful to hear you sing live, because your voice is just fantastic...sort of Mariah Carrey in male version. I was at your concert last year in Bonn. That was super. The audience was just great. No comparison to last nights audience. There are just too many seats in the K?lnarena. You have to stand at a concert to enjoy it. I'm a fan of your music since the album The Getaway. I was twelve then. Keep on playing, and please start writing songs with a story again, not only easy-listening pop songs as in the last two albums.
Best wishes, you old sinner

Kiel-Concert was great. Especially the e-guitars: yeah!!! And as well the piano! But in my opinion bass and drums were too peaceful (or do I misunderstand the 'QuietRevolution'?). Thanks for playing "there are those who fail, there are those who fall...", I love it. So, great concert!(second best behind Jethro Tull in Bergen/Ruegen, but it was OpenAir)

I envy you all who see CdB & Band at Cologne again! Have a good time!!!

Hi Chris,
We?ve been missing you...more than words can say...
and we?ve been thinking about you
every day....

Well..and wooowwww..now you came--in a blinding flash of light...and believe me..I would have sailed the seven seas or entered the spanish train..or crossed all borderlines..to meet you in concert...
but how easy...I only had to drive 200 km north to Hannover..and...3 meters from the stage...I yelled out all the time: THIS ONE?s MINE..-) but..you
didn?t wanted to come down to me...
but you wanted to sing and sing and sing..so gorgous songs and nearly didn?t stopped..until we all were so exhausted...that we would have loved to lay down with you on the stage..at the end of the concert!!
Never been so high on emotion...thank?s a lot!!!
So if anyone of you here on the page..would love to talk with me about this extraordinary guy..(I would give my entrance ticket to St.Peters gate for..to meet him-) ) then..feel free to send me an EMAIL...(ANDI2245@aol.com) I?m gonna answer all...sooner or later..hihi..don?t worry...you gonna hear from me!

So wish you all may find your place where peaceful waters flow...
Love and laughter

I have to say that you get better and better. The first time I saw you perform was in Cape Town 6 years ago - I travelled 2000 kms on a bus to see that one - then you came to Windhoek, Namibia and I got to sing on stage with you. Now I live in England and have tickets for the Albert Hall performance on 11 December. Can't think of a better way to start off my first Christmas season in England.
The new album is incredibly good
Thank you

Wow, he is back!!!
I?ve had the luck to see Chris in Dortmund on November 9th (And I will see him again in Koeln on November 20th). I?ve seen him 5 times before, but I believe, this was the best concert ever (though the other ones were fantastic too). I?ve never seen Chris as relaxed as this time. Telling Stories of the time as he was a little boy ("...When my mother said Christopher to me, I was in trouble!"). Or making jokes when some women were throwing negligees on the stage (Ooh, it?s still warm!" and "Ah, there?s a message for me: Kalt waschen!"). And asking the audience which song it would like to hear. And I won?t forget the look in his eyes when the audience (and of course me too) serenaded him ("Oh wie ist das schoen, oh wie ist das schoen, sowas hat man lange nicht geseh?n so schoen, so schoen!!!"). And last but not least tell me, where you can get an 3-hour-performance in these days?

Please Chris, don?t let us wait another period of 5 long years to see and hear you again!!!

Yours admiring Damian

I'm looking forward to see you on stage on 15th in Munich and on 18th in Regensburg. (Why don't you come to Nurenberg or Bayreuth or Wuerzburg this time?)
Now I'm a fan of your music since 1985; in German I would say "ich bin einer deiner groessten Fans! (N?mlich 186 cm!)" ;-)
1987 I visited the first time a concert. This was right before Christmas and I never forget when all people sang "Silent night, holy night"! Also all following concerts were just great and unforgettable.
Thanks for your music, which brings so much joy in my life!
Take care of you

I visited the concert last friday the 5th of November in Rotterdam/Ahoy.
It was fantastic!! The "long" way traveling was worth it. Specially the song for this man and woman who's little daughter died.
Of course I bought the new CD Quiet Revelution. Hoping he will come again to Holland an I hope I will be there again!!

Hi Chris !
Thanks for this impressing and fantastic concert in Dortmund. We joined a
lot of your concerts in the past but this was really your best. Three hours
of "handmade" music with a great show for the best audience you'll have on
your tour. Your music is very sensitive (therefore we made our first dance
on our wedding party to "Carry Me") so everyone can feel that your songs
have a background. We only missed one song which we love very much 'cause
it was played at midnight on that party two and a half year ago: Riding on a
rainbow. Thanks a lot again for this show and all the best for the future.

Dear Chris!

I'm a fan of your music ever since I heard the spanish train in 1975 and bought the album straight away. I've been in almost every concert since then (I missed one, because I was pregnant and due to delivery). And I am really looking forward to see you on Monday in Munich.

I hope that we can enjoy much more of your music in the future. I love your new album. I wish you all the best and lots of luck.

Went to your concert in Swakopmund 24th October 1998 and still recall it very regularly!! Wonderful! Is there by any remote chance a tape of this concert? We were overlanding in Namibia at the time and it was a fantastic night, but cannot recall all the music, therefore cannot make a compilation tape for ourselves! Can you help us?

Dear Chris.

I still remember that day I saw your concert in Namibia on 8 October 1998. It was fan-tastic. Thanks for all the time we as your fans can spend with you. We deffinitely have to see you in Namibia again.

I think I'm porbably the most dedicated Chris de Burgh fan in the world. My friend Vera, who had the opportunity of meeting you personally also thinks your mag-nificent.

I think Quiet Revolution is terrific. We want more.

Hi Chris,

I visited your concert on friday 5th in Rotterdam. Loved every minute of it. The only remark I can make is about the music. I like loud music but I like hearing you better. The music is sometimes so loud that I can hardly hear your voice. I love to hear you sing without any band at all. Only your guitar or keyboard or not even that. Bought your new album the next day and have played it about 300 times now. Especially like Natasha Dance and A womans heart.
Thanks and hope to see you again very, very soon.
Love, Irina.

Dear Chris,
I would like to thank you so very much for your music which has become something like a "best friend" in my life. No matter if I'm feeling happy or sad, there's always a song that matches the mood I'm in. Your music has always given me hope and comfort. I loved the concert last night in Stuttgart, it was awesome and made me very, very happy. Dearest Chris

I know your music since 1981. My first record was "BEST MOVES". I got it at christmas 81. As I heard your wonder-full songs the tears runs rivers on my face and my flesh began to creep......
..especially at spanish train and cru-
sader.I alwaus wanted to visit a concert
but I missed them each time, at last I
heard about it a day later I was sad so much. This year I develope my knowledge
and at the evening of your concert in
Stuttgart, nov. 8th I had school. I figh
ted hard with myself, what should I do?
You must know I am very conscientous
about my developing. Yesterday I found your website with the guestbook , and I
was very impressed about the inspired
fans. It touched my heart. The last kick that I need. I decided to make a compromise if I still got a ticket. Go-
ing to school until 19 h 15 and than going to your concert coming a few minutes to late. Okay.
And what a luck. I still got a ticket
a very good place in front of you. And what a chance as I discoverd half an hour ago that the school did not took
place this evening. They wanted to inform me but they did not reached me.
I was so HAPPY!!!
I enjoid the whole concert.
Live and you are writing the best stories.

Thank you for your music Regine

Dear Chris and band,

I must say that your concert on 5th november in Rotterdam was really amazingly wonderfull! I came with my husband, parents and two friends and we all had the times of our lives. I must compliment you on your CD quiet revolution, you get better every year! I have been to your concerts 3 times now, once in Amsterdam and twice in Rotterdam. What I liked most about Amsterdam is that I could kiss you there when I gave you a rose. Now I could not reach you but, I think you touched us all with your beautifull songs, especially with Carry me! You're the best, I hope I will be able to visit a concert in Dublin because you do to little concerts in Holland. Love Michelle.

Dear Chris and band,

I was on the 5th of november in AHOY.
The first time to hear and see a concert of my dearest singer!
I had a great time, I had never thought
that a life performance so much can do with me. I enjoyed it from the first till the last minute.
Hotel California en Hey Jude, but
especially the songs from your new album
"QUIET REVOLUTION".
Every day when I'm going to my work,
I listen (and sing) in the car to the
music of my biggest favorit Chris de
Burgh.
I hope I will be soon at another concert!
Kind regards,
Dirkje de Vries

Dearest Chris and band,

I don't think that I have heard a better concert from you ever than Fridaynight in Ahoy Rotterdam! I have seen many concerts of you in different countries the last 10 years, but never I saw so much joy on your face and energy in your performence and voice. And I want to give you my compliments for how you dealed with the people who lost their baby-girl and barried her on your song Carry me. I saw the tears in your eyes and I must say it was for me a couple of minutes silence, just thinking how this couple must have felt. For you it must feel good that people get so much out of your lirics. And the boys on the guitars, how great they were, especially with Hotel California!! Nice that songs from Eagles and the Beatles! Well, I can go on in superlatives, Chris, you are the best, I had a great evening and that gives me energy for a long time!!
