I was a huge fan before he became big - early 1980's.

I think his earlier music is much better.
I sent back "Love Songs" because there was so much re-recording which the cover didn't say - I thought I was buying the original recordings. I wrote to A&M complaining saying his voice wasn't up to it anymore.

Imagine taking the original recording of "Lonely Sky" and re-doing the vocal - paramount to murder!

Last week, I had Kenny Thompson, his manager, phone me up as a result of my letter! True, honestly.

I've got some teriffic photo's from the early 80's when his concerts were full but in VERY small venues. Second row shots. I'd be happy to share these with anyone.

I would really like to send a message to Chris and hopes he reads this. You are responsible for my wife and I getting together. Back in 84, my then girlfriend gave me a copy of a tape she had copied from a friend. In 87, my tapes were all stolen and t h is tape had been a particular favourite of mine. I called the old girlfriend to ask who had givn it to her originally, and she gave me Josanne's name and phone#.
She was studying at Laurentian University in Sudbury, Canada(my home town) and lived in Germany. I called and found out that she was engaged to be married in Germany the following summer, but she said that I could borrow her tape. I spent many long hours

chatting with her and found that we had a great deal in common. We attended your concert in Sudbury in the spring of 1989 and were married that fall. Through any troubled time that we have, we listen to your music and our love is rekindled. We now live o n
the Gulf of Mexico in Naples, Florida and have two wonderful sons.
I also attended one of your concerts in Toronto in 1987 with my uncle, Jim Norris, who is the publisher of Canadian Musician Magazine ad knew a couple of members of your band.

When will you be on this continent next?

I finally got a chance to log on to your page with a computer capbable of sound! At the Keyboard Cafe here in Sydney, I logged on using a Macintosh platform that included sound capability. I LOVED the "I'm Counting On You" MIDI I heard! Only one problem... I couldn't make out that "WAV"
for the life of me... it was just too quiet against the MIDI to be heard, especially through the small speaker available on that public terminal... what does it say anyway?

I have loved Chris De Burgh ever since I was a young child when I saw the video for "Don't Pay The Ferryman" on television.
September 23, 1996 was a dream come true for me when he played here for his "Beautiful Dreams" tour and my fiance proposed to me that night (he was going to propose during the concert, but couldn't wait that long!) It was the most wonderful, magical night of my life! Our first song will be "Here Is Your Paradise". I would,
however, like to get a copy of the friendship song he does for the children's television show and a copy of "Love Is My Decision"

Hi, the homepage could be more actual. I love the songs, but I'm waiting for a album full with new songs. The new one
(love songs) includes 13 old songs and only three new songs.
The last official album with new songs is from 1994. A long time. To long for a gerat supporter. :-(

This is an excellent and informative website. Thanks a million, Joe for making this happen. I actually found all my answers here which I had been seeking since 1985.
I have enjoyed Chris de Burgh's albums since 1985 when I studied in England. I still remember that very night when I was having a cup of tea in my friend's room and he put on 'Ship To Shore' and 'Borderline'. I immediately fell in love with his songs. I h

ave now collected most of his major albums.
In September 1996, I was thrilled to see Chris live on stage in Toronto. I still remember vividly that September evening sitting not so far from the stage. That was the closest I ever got to my favourite artist and a true artist and I'll never forget how

much I enjoyed that evening. I hope he does another tour in Canada in the near future.
That evening, he performed a new song which he wrote in South Africa (I think) and I never heard it again. I don't believe it was ever recorded into his albums. If anyone can help me find that song and any of the unrecorded work like 'A New Star in Heave n

', I would really appreciate it. I am still waiting for his new album as it is not yet available in Canada.
Chris, keep it up!! I look forward to enjoying more songs from you.

For over 15 years I'm a fan of Chris' music and I joined a lot of shows - since 1986 (the into the light - tour) I've been to all concerts, and in 1989 even not only (as usual) two times but three times !
That was a real great event - I visited the exciting Stuttgart-Concerts in Germany ! I love Stuttgart as Chris does - it's my home town and for Chris, as he tells the audience every time - the first place out of ireland to hear Chris de Burgh's music.
So it's a very special place and in 1989 - on June 11th people were so high on emotion (!) that Chris came back on stage after the lights in the hall were already turned on (seemed that the show was over) and said: your're fantastic - there must be the t

me for one more song : and the he sang an irish traditional with tears in his eyes - and I think a few people could not stop crying as well !
After this special event I went to many shows of CdeB - all very very good - but it was never the same feeling as it was on that special night 8 years ago...
I still love all the music - and if something's going wrong in my life it's Chris who helps me get along with it. I had also the chance to sing with him'lonely sky' in the Stuttgart Schleyer Halle at the this way up tour in 1994 (!) I will never forget t

I have been a fan of Chris' for 18 years now, my dad used to play his albums when i couldn't sleep and he just grew on me. I was born in Scotland and my father went to see him about 5 times but never took me, now that I live in Fl I feel that I will never get the chance. Hm... I HATE that when I see a guestbook that defaults to
"USA" as a country... anyway, I LOVE this page! I've found out more about Chris in an hour here than I would've found out in a year by conventional means! :) Before this page,
every time Chris came out with a new album, I'd have to wait for a friend to tell me about it. Now, I'll probably know before HE will! :) But most of all, I love the CdeB Mailing List. I already belong to the BIFIDA-L list, so I was a bit reluctant to sign on at first... two lists often results in a LOT of mail... but it was worth it! It's hard to find CdeB fans in my area, and its refreshing to find a group of people who don't say "Who's that?" when I say Chris de Burgh (although usually people will remember who he is if I mention "The Lady in Red...:)")! :) Anyway, see y'all on the list! And for those of you who AREN'T on the mailing list, if you're a CdeB fan (and if you're on this page, I'd assume you are), it's well worth the time! Bye, all! :)

Chris has performed some of the most inspiring music I've heard.
"For Rosanna" was sung to my youngest daughter at her birth, with "Leslie" sung in place of "Rosanna."
Marvelous to find a web site about Chris de Burgh!!

Went to the Melbourne concert on April 10 with my fiancee 4 days before our wedding. We had front row seats and Chris was brilliant. His "Snows of New York" and "Borderline"
were particularly memorable. At the end of the concert my fiancee got to shake hands with Chris!

Chris de Burgh macht, so finde ich, eine wundervolle Musik.
Leider ist er unerreichbar. Wenn er auf Deutschlandtour ist, kann er sich gerne mal melden.
Ich gebe auch gerne ein Bier aus.
