Hello Chris,
thanks for your thoughts about Duisburg. I knew you were go to comment on this. What an unbelievable and dreadful tragedy! 21 people - mostly very young people - dead by today! Literally squeezed to death, suffocating at a place where they were going to enjoy music and just have fun and a big party; 500 badly injured.
I work in Essen which is situated very close to Duisburg. Some of my colleagues live there, and went to see the loveparade, as well as their friends and families. I was very, very worried about them last weekend. Fortunately, they are all well. A parent of one colleague of mine was in the organisation team of the firebrigade there and advised his children long before the event NOT to go there, as it was absolutely insecure in his opinion.
I believe you never played a concert in Duisburg, but lots of them very close to the city in the Ruhrgebiet area; Essen, Dortmund, Gelsenkirchen, Oberhausen, Bochum. I remember how much fun I had there during your concerts. And that's all people who went to that loveparde wished to have: Fun & music & dancing & being happy. So many of them will never come back home, and it is victims all over Europe and the world.
The most disgusting thing it that no one feels responsible of the disaster so far. Mayor of Duisburg, police, organiser of the festival: Right now, they are all trying to make others responsible for the tragedy.
Usually, I never write so much on a public topic. But this time I am in a very emotional state about all that happened, and also very angry about politicians and concert promoters and market interests who valuated profit and image much more highly than security and value of human lives, obviously!!! Thanks again for your comment,
xx Sibylle

Dear Chris,
I just read your message about Duisburg. I have only heard that there had been a love-parade on which something went wrong, not more. I had wonderful holidays in a fantastic valley in Tirol, the Vinschgau in an old Middleage town, which is very small and the old buildings are still there. A nice place to rest with a songbook of you a guitar and mountain-wandering. I really enjoyed these few days back there and I am looking forward to hear you in some weeks.
love
Monika

Just wanted to thank you once again for bringing such wonderful people into my life.
I have aquired friends who are very special to me now, whom I would probably never have met were it not for your music.
I am extremely lucky that I shall be seeing you in September to whet my apetite before Moonfleet.
My move to Northampton shall by accompanied by your music.
All the best, and have a wonderful summer,

Dear Chris,
I'm 46 now and I'm listing to your wonderful songs since I'm 18. During all these years, I've listened to my vynil records and CD and during the last few months, I've begun to watch you on youtube. What a pleasure to see you in live ! I'm going to plan to go to see you on stage next year in Germany or Zwitzerland because you're not going to sing in our country. I really want to see you to keep a wonderful memory. Your music and lyrics are so deep. I always got gooseflesh when I listen to your songs.
Thanks a lot for all these moments.

It´s so sad.. this year and next year will be the first years that I cannot come to one of your concerts. They are too far away from my place, not even Hannover. And I can´t afford these ticket prices by 84 Euros!! With my girlfriend it´s 170! Plus fuel and hotel! It´s too much.. I´m sorry.. I hope one day you come back to Hameln or Hannover. I wish you good luck for the tour!! By the way: on August 7th my best friend is going to marry. They asked me to sing a song for them in church, so I´m going to perform "in a country churchyard" - it fits so perfectly!!
So greetings from Hameln by Florian and Tabea

Hello Chris, I lost my Momma last tuesday July 6th, we had her funeral services on saturday, my Moms favorite color was "RED", this Woman had to have everything in red, from her clothes, to her shoes to the color of the car she use to drive, and my Momma was the most beautiful woman you can ever know....so I dicated "lady in Red" to her, we all meditated to this song,as it reminded us of all the good memories we had with our mother.
In closing I would like to Thank you for making such a beautiful song that fit my Mother so perfectly...
May she rest in peace

Hoping you'll be able to get the old band together and tour in Canada once again - just like old times. You wrote the song track to my formative years and I'd like my daughter to also have the pleasure of experiencing your live performance. Until then, may life treat you well... and thank you for all the wonderful songs.

Hi Chris,
As you know I made few years ago a French CdeB website. Unfortunately due to some serious reasons I gived up doing it. I thought this source of information related from your official website in french words is gone. But in an other I spoke with some people "Non english speakers" of which problems they met reading your website and I was finally surprise to learn that this barrier can be broken when someone want to know what something mean (a release date, some tour dates). They used some translate tools but not all the time or they ask some informations in the multilingual forum. Hopefully I still manage the french forum and many friends of Chris de Burgh pages including naturely my native coutry France.
Chris, I still make pictures and photography is a great art and sometime when I am somewhere with my camera and needing inspiration I only need to look what I have in front of my eyes but also what I ear and it's always you.
You inspired me and many people over the world from all ages. Chris you are simply a genius !!!

My daughter likes your songs so much, she is 8 months old. Her favorite song is the 'High on Emotions' video. Every time I start for her she starts a very big grin/smile and gets quiet, listen carefully and looks at you, Chris, and your band carefully (she looks left and right at our screen, just as the action unfolds). Every time I play it for her she just wants to hear it again. In the end I will leave the room with my crying disappointed daughter who wants to see it once again.
You impressed my 8 month year old daughter, YOUR A GENIUS!!
Much love to you from
Andrea (daughter), Tangthai (wife) and me Jow
