Hi Chris,

Hope you are enjoying your Holidays.
All seems to be well in Ontario so far, lots of snow and cold winds.
It sure would be nice to see and hear you again. Any chance of that happening with your new album Footsteps?

All the best to You and your family, Happy New Year 2009 and may God set aside a few Angels to keep you healthy and safe. Blessed Be.

Hopefully you will tour the land down under again, and if you do please make sure you have Adelaide on your itinerary.

Dear Chris,

thank you very much for answering my question about chess. It made me a bit happier for the second Christmas Day (as you probably know from travelling around the world, we have 3 Bank Holidays for Christmas) and saved me from tears for a short while. And it was a nice surprise. However, so much to magazine articles. In the article my question refers to is a photo of you and Diane sitting at a chessboard. According to the lines underneath, you are just explaining the game to her. After having read your answer, I had a look on the cover of "Best moves" again.
I wouldn't call myself a good chess player, but I still know the moves of each figure and the rules to see the move that is going to cause a checkmate.

Cheers,
Monica

Dear Chris,

Christmas greetings to you and your family, from the heart. I hope you are enjoying a lovely and quiet time. For me, Christmas this year is VERY quiet as both my TV and Hifi set incl. radio said goodbye to me shortly before Christmas, so as a temporary measure I made myself a set with old traveller speakers, to be able to listen to your CDs. The sound is not brilliant, no, no, but what would be Christmas without your music ?
I am already jumping with joy thinking of the concerts next year. Have a good start into 2009, love,

Dear Chris,

Three persons, who represent three generations saw you sing 'Without You' on German TV at the José Carreras Gala last Thursday.

My daughter, 18 year old, said, "HE sang sooo good, but he was very sad."

Me, "'Without You' is really a sad song. What an emotional and great performance of Chris. He took the opportunity to point to his new CD 'Footsteps'. Well done."

My neighbour at the age of 82(!), who doesn't understand any single English word, said, "He has such a gentle voice, the most gentle voice of all singers who sang during the show."

Dear Chris, this proves/shows - you enthuse people from three generations - just everyone!

Thank you, Gerlinde.

Hi Chris,

just watched the recording of the SAT1 breakfast show from yesterday morning again. Seems like you have a lot in common with Wolfgang Niedecken, who sings in the German band BAP, when it comes to writing songs. Actually it's sometimes easier for me to understand you singing, as Mr. Niedecken sings with a strong Cologne accent I can hardly understand.
Hearing you sing "Silent Night" was really lovely.
Thanks for giving me such a good reason for my trip to Cologne by taking part at the TV show. I had a great time and enjoyed it very much.
Have a Merry Christmas with lots of sunshine and a good start into 2009. I'm hoping for sunshine as well, not on a beach, but in the snow :-))
Take care,
love and hugs,

Dear Chris,

it is too early to wish you a Merry Christmas here and now. I'm going to do it by the good old postmail as I have prepared a card for you, including a small gift that fits into the envelope.

I have put some hours of work into it and hope you like it. I just hope that it will reach you until Christmas and before you will go on holiday with your family for New Year's Eve as I don't know how long a letter/card takes from Germany to Ireland. According to the happy moment you gave me last year in November, it seems to be 3-4 days from my hometown directly to you to Enniskerry but maybe I am wrong about that. I'll send it out today or tomorrow at the latest, so please watch out for it as long as you're not away on holidays (or after coming back if the card will get to you too late).

Cheers,
Monica

2008/12/17 - 21:46

Dear Chris, thank you so much for filling my life with this beautiful, outstanding, unique music all through the years!
I never forget seeing you live performing in Münster and how the people who are always kinda "shy" and somehow have problems showing their emotions were so quiet in the beginning of the concert (though they loved your music of course) and after a while couldn't hold back their emotions and started dancing, singing, shouting for more and more of your music. Some artists (even when they're from Germany) don't realize that the audience liked the music and enjoyed it cause in some way they were raised not to show too much emotions. But on your concert they were turning completely and I never saw the people in my region acting this way. This was outstanding and I don't know if you realized that because in other parts or other countries the people like to show their emotions and so maybe for you it was not a special thing. But for me, seeing these people who were so quiet and shy in the beginning was so new because so many other bands and artists performed in this city but the reaction and this "turning" from beeing shy into forgeting all they've "learned" about hiding their emotions was so great!
I love your music so much, I hope you'll come back to Münster and I wish you a Merry Xmas!
God bless you!

Hello Chris,
I love listening to your haunting voice, especially in slow numbers. I believe that a voice can tell so much about the person. In your case, you are a warm and understanding man. I also feel that you have suffered a lot and that is because you are very sensitive and because you are good you are easily hurt.
You love deeply and long to be loved too. I hope you do not mind me expressing myself.
On the 27th April I will be at your concert in Liverpool. It is the first time that I will be at one of your concerts and I am really looking forward to it. I am sure that it will be a huge success.
I hope that apart from the songs from the Footsteps Album, you will sing some of your older songs. I especially love hearing "Songbird" and "Hold On".
I wish you and your family a Joyous Christmas and all the Very Best for a
Happy and Music Filled New Year.

In the early 1990s I attended a brilliant concert near Newcastle England. Chris sang a song about the events in Enniskillen. I have just returned from a few days holiday in Northern Ireland and I would love to hear that sad song again but I seem to remember that he said he would never record the song perhaps someone might pusuade Chris to change his mind. I would love a copy of those lyrics.

Dear Chris,

after having read the question of Louise Lupton, I join in about her request for a collection of videos.

A DVD of all the promo videos - or most of them - would be great to have for the fans, because you rarely get to see the videos to the songs when you don't watch MTV or whatever music channel for 24 hours and have to search for them instead in the internet to see them at least once. And on the double album that you released a few years ago are just the clips to the most favourite songs like "Lady in red" or "Missing you".
I have downloaded a few from youtube, but I am sure there are a lot more that I don't know that I would like to have seen as for instance the video to "Crusader".
So, what about a DVD with all your videoclips for the fans to see?

Bye for now!

Hi Chris, like everyone else I'm really happy to MOTL back again, it seems sooooo long....Thanks to Wend I am enjoying the new "Footsteps", but I am waiting until March to get my own UK copy of the cd, and it seems sooo far away yet! Now, are you going to be at Anfield on Saturday(13Dec), when our very own Hull City will be attempting to win some more precious premiership points? As you know "The Tigers" are in the top league for the first time ever in their 104year history and are riding high in 6th place, which is no mean feat considering only 3 years earlier they were almost in administration and were an embarrassement to our City!!!! Well any other Saturday I would be cheering on the lads from Liverpool but I have to be on the side of "The Tigers" this time.
Looking forward to seeing you next April/May in Manchester/Birmingham(Sun) on the front row!!!! and Bournmouth(row 9).

" I don't know why I haven't sung Forevermore. I know I did sing it a few times, possibly in solo performances. But I'll make an attempt to go back and have a look at that song again. And maybe remind myself of the words and include it in the next series of shows that I do."

Dear Chris,
your new Footsteps album is wonderful At the monent I am mostly listening to "Africa", but I like all the other songs you choosed too, especially "All Along The Watchtower". I find this combination of songs very good how you placed them one after the other and in Polly Van I think I can hear the storyteller, You ,from the past of your first albums very clearly in another story. When I think about your choice I can find "Without You", "American Pie", "Blackbird", "We Can Work It Out", "Corinna, Corinna" in my forgotten memory to my age around 16,17 years! That had been the time, when I was at school and the radio was on in the afternoon while learning. I listened radio and these songs were often played in this town here. I think "All Along The Watchtower" I have heard in the past too, so it feels very well to listen to your voice to a time, which is long forgotten now. Oh I forgot, "Where Have All The Flowers Gone" I heard very often sang by Juliane Werding in German language and we tried it in my youth with girlfriends to be played with guitars in this time, we loved it as well as her "Am Tag Als Jonny Kramer Starb". But the most of all songs you have on your new album I love are still "Africa", "Without You" and "Sealed With A Kiss". That touched me at first and I think I need a long time driving in my car listening to "Africa" again and again and to sing with a second voice along there.
Today I got the news, that I can come in January to record some of my own songs to make perhaps a little album, if possible. So the next time it will be a time playing guitar and for sure continueing the piano-lessons with the joy to learn a new long forgotten and old melody from the film "Love Story", a wonderful emotional piano-melody. So we go on with making music now until you will be back in spring to present your new album in the concerts, Chris. And I hope you will take some well-known songs of your elder albums too to be played in your concerts. I would miss your own songs soooooo much Chris, but love too very, very much "The Long And Winding Road", which was new to me this year. And it is really fine to see, that you will be more near to my homeregion in the next year. It fills my heart with joy Chris. Greetings from home in Bavaria.

with love
