Dear Mr. de Burgh,
i´m listening to your music since almost 30 years and i think its time to say thank you for all the precious moments your music gave to me. Its hard for me to find the right words because my english is not that good as it was long time ago.Life as you know for shure sometimes can be realy hard. But its so wonderfull to have music like yours to find silence and harmony back in our fast and so noisy life. i think people have forgot how to talk to each other and if i watch the news its so hard to keep the faith in the world around us. But right now i sit here and listen to my favourite album "Beautiful dreams" and just wanted to let you know how much these songs and there lyrics bring me harmony and joy. Thank you for all these wonderfull moments and keep all these feelings in your songs. Your music is a important part of my life and will always be.
I wish you luck and happiness for the next 70 years :-)

Hiya Chris
I am a southerner, living in Liverpool for pure pleasure but whose heart, soul, spirit and ancestors remain in Ireland. I have lived all over the world but would re-live in Ireland at the drop of a hat.
I have been dying to write you and even more dying to receive a reply from you. So I read the rules, checked up on other letters and I am still ploughing through them but impatience is going to rule!
Many are either professional or technical I thought I could never compete. Someone wrote to you that you had never written a song 3 /4 and you replied yes, you did not think you had ever written a song 3 / 4 and I am thinking, What, they want him to write three-quarters of a song? What happens to the rest?
Then someone else wrote, a professional guitarist you had worked with yonks ago and loads of good but unknown-to-me names were bandied about. Even a florist wrote! What on earth can I write about to catch your eye?
Do what I am good at – chatting!!! Tell him how CdeB has impacted not only my life but my poor family, whether they liked it or not!
I heard “Jerusalem” way back in the ‘70’s, in the middle of glam rock, disco and Abba. Did not know who you were. The song hit my Catholic soul like a meteor. Wow!
Progress a couple of decades. By mid-90’s I love Chris de Burgh. I have two grand-daughters, aged 3 and 4. Since my daughter was divorcing and forging ahead with her career I had full time care of the girls and we have been all over England with CdeB on the player. Their favourite was “Spanish Train” and they knew all the words. Stuck on my second home, the M6, for hours at a time, it was lovely to listen to these two darlings, singing their favourite song, so intently.
Sian, aged 3, could not pronounce Chris de Burgh so “Chrissybabe” was born. When chatting to family about you, if I said “Chris” they assumed I was talking about a personal friend (you are) and saying “Chris de Burgh” all the time was so formal so you have been “Chrissybabe” to all of us for the last 14 years!
Now I have full time care of my three nieces as both parents are busy musicians. All three girls are great singers (6,10,15) and, of course, Chrissybabe is enjoying a revival.
Now to me! With great delight and anticipation, I eagerly awaited your album “Footsteps” couriered straight from Germany. I had purposely not searched for any info. on this cd, I wanted it to be fresh for me, more wonderful melodies and lyrics from the best of his craft. (Why did Germany et al get the album so ahead of England?).
Putting the cd in the player, could not help but notice a couple of tracks, funny, they seem familiar. No matter.
Track one, oooh, love the tune. Track two – oo’er, what is going on? Track three – OMG, no, please no, no new work, only covers!!!!
If ever a man has sooooo disappointed a lady then this tops the league.
OK, Chris can do no wrong, listen, hear what he has to say, see if I can agree, see if I disagree, see if I can connect.
Now? I love it. I love your interpretations of each song. Even if they are covers, you have made them yours as only you can. They even sound original! The lyrics seemed clearer, made sense. I am sooo happy. I have four special songs in my life , guaranteed to reduce me to a blubbering wreck within seconds. “Without You” is one of them. Thank you for making me sob like never before in years. The last track, “Footsteps” is gorgeous, dewey-eyes listening, makes sense now I have heard the other tracks, the melody touches some part of me. You have been forgiven!
OK, please tell me/us, you are thinking about another album? Your own work? With your heartfelt feelings for this planet, you should be World Ambassador for Peace. Since my childhood, we now have seven continents. So, there are seven songs waiting to be composed, then a couple more for this torn world in general and one for hope!!!
Waiting for your albums, your new works, are the perks of my busy life. Never ever think of retiring. You are one of three topping my long list of “boys”, my trinity, songwriters/musicians I will buy CDs on the basis that they can do no wrong! No pressure then.
So “Chrissybabe”, waiting patiently for your concert next April in Liverpool. Take care, much, much love, gratitude, encouragement, support and anticipation, Lindy
PS . The thought of me liking anyone (where on earth would I get the time?) and the air reverberates with “y.e.u.k”. My saying for years has been “I could kiss him all over” to which all the girls know I really, really like this person. Melody, aged 6, trying to edge in with all the excitement I generated when I bought a ticket for your concert.
“Aunty Lindy, are you going to marry him?”
“No” an astonished me replies.
“But you love him and could kiss him all over?”
“ Sweetheart, I love the man for his music and his words but in real life he could be a grumpy old man! Learn the difference”.
She did. Are you? Ever?

Hey Chris,
I'm a long time fan, saw you back in '86 in Bristol, took my then-girlfriend, now wife, excellent show. I don't think me and my lovely Cynthia would be together now if it wasn't for your wonderful music; it sings to my soul. Please continue your good work, we owe you our happy marriage and one beautiful child- and hopefully more to come!

Dear Chris de Burgh,
I got your new album "Footsteps" yesterday and it is fantastic.
I love the way you sing these songs.
"Footsteps" track made me cry . . .
I have only YOUR music tracks in my iPod."Where have all the flowers gone?" , "Sealed with a kiss" etc. were the only tracks that I had in my iPod from other singers... Now I'm so happy that I can listen to them with YOUR voice :) and in my opinion these tracks are even better that the original ones. more emotional. really more emotional....
Thank you so much for leting us to walk with your steps through this long way of your musical journey.
With the best wishes for you,
Hope to see more steps from you in the future,
-Sam

Hi Chris,
Well I got an early birthday present on Tuesday (thanks Andrea) of your 'Footsteps' CD. There are a couple of my all time 'favourite' songs on it such as 'Sealed With A Kiss' and 'Without You' and you do a brilliant version of both :)) I have always wanted you to sing 'Sealed With A Kiss', so I'm really really happy that it is on the CD. The Long And Winding Road is as you probably know, another all time CdeB favourite of mine and I prefer your version to the original one !! Where Have All The Flowers Gone is another great song, as is, The Last Thing On My Mind and Africa. There are 3 songs I have never heard of before, so to me they are very new, and then of course 'Footsteps' itself. What can I say about 'Footsteps'..............its a very dramatic sound as it builds from quiet to loud.....its kind of hard to describe what I mean......but as soon as I heard it the first time, I could picture in my mind your next tour opening up to the instrumental part as it builds from quiet to loud and then you appearing from the back of the stage singing the last few lines............just like you did a few years ago before with The Storyman or was it Road To Freedom......I can't rememeber right now. But when you enter the stage like this, it really makes your entrance far more 'dramatic' than when you just appear from the side of the stage !! Ah well, that's just my humble opinion!!
Great to see Liverpool win again last night:)) Bet your pleased ;-)
Love and Hugs,
Chris(W)thebluehealer

Dear Chris and dear Diane!
Happy 30th wedding anniversary today!
Have an unforgettable romantic 25th of November 2008. Enjoy your great day, just the two of you together.
In Germany bride and bridegroom usually pick a verse from the Bible for their wedding - a verse they can stick to in good times and bad times of their live as husband and wife.
We would like to wish you God`s blessing by sending you our wedding verse: It is taken from Romans 8, 38-39:
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Therefore:
Always remember to forget the troubles that passed away. But never forget to remember the blessings that come each day.
All the best.
God bless!
Annette, Stefan and Tabea Siobhan

The Last Thing On My Mind reminds me of my boyfriend (now husband) playing that on guitar in the 70s! :-)
Congratulations to you and your wife for tomorrow (25th November) Hope that you're able to celebrate.

Hi Chris,
I bought your new album yesterday morning and it's fantastic. Since I knew the songs it contains, I was excited about "Africa" as it's not only one of my favourite songs but also one of the songs I grew up with. I'm a child of the 80's, remember?
I love that song from Toto. It's one of my all time favourites. Thank you very much for having recorded it with your voice!
I have listened to it again and again yesterday.
And there two other songs, I know well although they're not from my days of childhood.
More to your album and the other songs in my letter that I'm going to send to you in the next few days. Please, please, read it.
Cheers,

Dear Chris,
a short message for you. Your new album is fantastic, lovely and a wonderful work in music again!:)) We heard it at work twice and at home in the evening I had the chance to listen alone in a quiet room. Two songs remind me to last summer-concerts and the last moment I met you in Germany this year, and to hear "Africa" feels soooooooo good. I would like to learn to sing it in the next days. More later. "Sealed with a kiss" is new for me and I really love that song very much together with "Without You"...

Oh wow! I am so excited, I just listened to the sample songs from "FOOTSTEPS" ON THE
CdeB site and I don't know how I will be able to wait until March to get a copy. For so long now I have wanted a cover album from Chris and to see that he has chosen so many of my favourites, the songs that coloured our youth and brought so much joy and to hear them sung by one of my very favourite voices. Well done, Chris! Thanks again for the music and when are you coming back to Canada?

Dear Chris, well after soooo much excitement this last week, I am now a lot calmer!!! We have the tickets booked for our concerts, Manchester (along with Wendy Cullotty and Alison Bellerby and Birmingham(Sun also with Wendy, Alison and Chris Raymond) both front row for the first time ever and also Bournemouth, not front row but I'll be down there by the end of the show! Hull City came within a whisker of beating Man U at Old Trafford and Lewis Hamilton won the F1 World Championship, it's a wonder I'm not on the CMU ward!!! Now we have the new album to look forward to, oh gosh it seems sooo far away yet to March, but it will be something between Christmas and the concerts to keep us going.

Hi Chris,
While you’re busy preparing for the “Sportpresseball” in Frankfurt (after getting little sleep in Turkey, as I heard), I am busy listening to the first bits of the “Footsteps” songs and watching the promo video.
Once more, to listen to your new songs for the very first time is simply incredible to me, once more it simply "knocks me over" - if I haven’t recently mentioned how much I love your voice and the way you perform songs with an awful lot of heart and soul in it, I do now! The “Footsteps” tune is beautiful and very catchy indeed; from the first time I heard it as intro to the newly designed website I kept humming it, I just cannot get it out of my head. And I am sorry, but I have to say it is one of those songs again that will definitely make me cry in the concerts… My first highlights of the new CD bits are “Turn, turn, turn”, “Africa”, “All Along The Watchtower” and the title track. I want more, and I just can’t wait!
Nice and really interesting video, it brings back lots of lovely memories of the places in Ireland I used to visit, some of them very often – Dublin Bay and Beach, Dalkey Village and Harbour and the small hill where you overlook Dalkey Sound and Island, Glendalough, Kilmore Quay, Hook Head, and even Bargy Castle and the tower of Bargy Castle :-).
– I’ve got to go now, to watch and listen once more :-)

Belated Happy Birthday. Your music and concerts have run like a thread through my life. Just over 30 years ago I listened to your concert in Johannesburg, first time I heard you live. I was very pregnant and went backstage to meet you. My daughter loves your music and she now has children of her own - how time flies.
Hope you come to Austria where I now live soon.
