It has been some time since the concert was staged but the DVD Chris De Burgh - Beautiful Dreams - Live still looks and sounds great. Maybe the audience is a bit quiet, you cannot get away from the sound quality and the great music with all the old favourites here.
Incidentally I got this as a present from family in the UK and my DVD died when I played it. Had to take it apart to recover the DVD and buy a new player. I was not disappointed with the wait though as Chris shows on the DVD why he deserves to be recognised for more than just The Lady in Red and Ferryman. My fandom goes way back to the day when me and my sister brought home his complilation album The Very Best Of Chris De Burgh on vinyl and I don't think it has ever been released on CD so I feel very very honoured that I still after all this time have it.

Hello Chris,

I am a real fan of you and your music since I was a young girl (now am 38). A concert you gave in Frankfurt many years ago was the first concert I went to. My dad came with me because he was afraid of his "little girl". When you sang "The Lady In Red" my father had tears in his eyes and this has never changed. This song always reminds him on me, his beloved daughter. Now my father celebrates his 70 birthday in April and as a special present for a real special father I bought two first category tickets of your concert in Hanau on August 15. I am convinced that my dad and I will enjoy a wonderful evening and I really hope that you will sing "The Lady in Red".
Thank you for your music.
I wish you the best for the future.

Dear Chris,
first of all I have to thank you for all magic moments with your music. The first LP I heard was the "best moves" album and I was enchained by your music. Tomorrow I will celebrate my 35th birthday and I still stuck on your music. I also listen to Metallica but for a real feeling and something for the heart you are the only one. :-) So I hope you will also stuck on your music and your way. I will see you in Schwetzingen in August and I wish that you will have some old songs in your baggage for us. Remember the old times also not only the one that gave you glory. Remember the "end of a perfect day" thats what I remember and what makes me sentimental. I wish you all the best health and all what you wish for yourself. I hope that I can drink a coffee when I will be in Ireland (like you anticipated in a TV show in the 80`s):-) CU in Schwetzingen. Take care Chris

Everything changes but this stays the same... Must be strange to be part of so many people´s lifes you don´t even know the names of. Thank you. God bless you and your family.

I discovered you 30 years ago when i was in hell growing up, not much light when you are living with abuse! Chris, always wanted to thank you for your music, it helped me escape from the reality of everyday life. Your lyrics gave me places to escape to in the madness, thank you!
Today, all is good, i live a simple life in Donegal, i'm quite content, and your music is still bringing me pleasure. I wish you all that is good for you!

Hi Chris,
May you and your family be very blessed this year!
Let´s hope you can “hold your flight” and stay in Mauritius some days more after the holidays, before the journey home in a lovely and “lonely sky”. I have enjoyed watching DVD:S and listening to CD:S with your concerts and songs during Christmas and New Year.
It will be so nice to go to the concert in Aachen. We will stay there for four days and see some historical and interesting things, but your concert is the main reason for us to go. I know my husband Lars also would like to come with me to a concert somewhere in the U.K. Take care!

Dear Chris,

I wanted to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a wonderful and prosperous New Year. I had a couple friends over to celebrate New Year's Eve and ended up (I was just about to say, "ended up putting your records on for a spin". That does paint a more romantic picture than stuck a CD in! I did point to my box of records on the closet shelf where within are, among others, all of yours through Flying Colours. I almost got it down so I could show them the back cover of the Spanish Train album with the hands meeting. I lament those days of studying the artwork/design of an album cover while listening to the music. Sigh. Anyway, I happened to put on Spanish Train(CD)and when Old Friend came up it was a perfect sentiment for the evening as we sipped our wine and I "performed" for my friend along with you, yet I included a fascinating, I'm sure, interpretive dance of the song! If you're reading this, I'm sure I've just conjured up a nightmarish visual for you. I hope you can sleep later. In case you're wondering, I did not do an interpretive dance to Patricia the Stripper. I ONLY had 2 glasses of wine... Instead, I just whimsically recalled that at the one and only time I saw you in concert, while performing Patricia you had sung "in 1984" as opposed to 1924 as '84 was the year that we were in. It's the little things.

And so, I now close my New Year's note of random writing as I say Happy New Year to you and anybody reading this. I hope sometime in the near future that you come as close as Canada to perform so that I might actually be able to see you in concert for the second time.

Love to you,

Heather Helton

Dear Chris,
it is the first hour of the new year 2008 and the last rockets are going down now. Young and old was chatting together between different countries this night so we found the different times to the begin of the new year. It was wonderful to sit not alone in this town and a song came in my mind: "..be sure to leave a candle burning so a friend can see the light...". I am happy that I found such people from over the world who can share with me this lovely experience to have seen you live last year again.
The evening and the begin of the new year has something special with joy and wishes for the new year between people who know each other. We know us a little bit from some concert-hours and writing in MOTL and guestbook and so I am thinking where you could be on this day in the world. The only way to tell you that I wish you a very happy and really successful 2008, like the other years had been for you, is your guestbook at the moment. So I hope you are open for such wishes from far apart.
You will perform in Russia and the fans in Iran are hoping and waiting for you to come as far as I have heard it. The way seems to be open for you there and I want to wish you good luck, if you decide to be the first western pop-singer who will visit Iran for a concert this year, as far the lot of mails around this topic are true. And for sure I will be glad to see you this year in Germany again, so I wish you much health for this year and much empathy from your family-members to let these lot of journeys happen for you.
Stay like you had been Chris and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Looking forward to see you this year again.
still with love
Monika
