I have grown up with your music - such emotive lyrics - such talent. Nearly all your songs hold memories for me - going way back to Spanish Train, right up to date. Hard to pick a favourite - 'Snows of New York' ranks very high, as does 'Missing You' - your concerts are fantastic - looking forward to your next visit to the NEC in Birmingham. Thank you Chris ~ keep on singing!

Good luck Liverpool FC.
When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of the storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet, silver song of a lark.
Walk on, through the wind,
Walk on, through the rain,
Though your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart,
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never walk alone
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart,
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never walk alone

Dear Chris,
only football news from the south of Germany: today the VfB Stuttgart-team won the German championship: so many young, good-looking, talented players (young and wild): Fernando Meira, Sami Khedira, Timo Hildebrand, Mario Gomez... I could continue. They were/are amazing - really! What impressed me most were Ricardo Osorio's words, "...I dedicate this championship/title to God, to my family, to my wife who always supported me, to my parents and all my fans in Mexico."
As far as the fans are concerned: imagine - Stuttgart - Schloßplatz: 80.000 fans. All in red/white. On TV I saw that Stuttgart was more than full of people.
The heroes 'drove' (crawled) with 15 cabrios from the Daimler-Stadion to the Schloßplatz while shaking hands, celebrating... It took them hours and hours. To be honest, I hope that they arrived there any time.
Stuttgart - today (= state of emergency): celebrations, party pure, emotions, enthusiasm, joy, madness, bustle. Just talk to Markus Babbel.
Unbelievable, incomprehensible, speechless impressions from Baden-Württemberg to Ireland.
www.vfb.de (Und der Rest war Jubel - Bildergalerie (= pictures)
Good luck for Liverpool on Wednesday! And I also hope that Stuttgart will win again next Saturday.
Please take good care.
Goodbye, Gerlinde

I was at a Chris DeBurgh concert many years ago when he was in Canada and was so impressed that I often compare other concerts I have been to to his concert. I was wondering if he will ever make it back to Canada. I actually named my daughter after one of his songs "This is for Rosanna".

hello! Of course like everyone else I am a fan of cdb. I have been for years. I'm 27 years old i have a 2 and a half year old and another one due any time now. I have a bit of a story. When i was pregnant with my son, Peyton, I listend to Chris all the time. In my house, car wherever i could. I put ear phones on my belly so my son could listen to the music. When he was born again i listend to chris all the time. A few months before my son had turned one, I found the Road to Freedom dvd and bought it. I put it in my player and laid down with my son. He sat straight up and pointed at the tv one the intro started playing. Sine that day and for 6 months straight after that..the dvd played in my player nonstop 24/7. My husband and I could only watch something else if he was sleeping. We still watch it (usually at night beore bed) today. In've boughten the dvd 3 times now, because he carries it around or we watched it too much lol. He loves to sing to many songs, and he's pretty good at it. He also claps and dances its terribly cute to watch him. I am hoping to win the lottery or something so that I can take my son to see a Chris concert before he may grow out of Chris's music. I myself would love to see a show as well.

Dear Chris - loin de moi,
Heilbronn: you will play Heilbronn in July. Therefore I let you know that Heilbronn is full of mourning at the moment, because at the end of April, on a sunny afternoon, someone killed/murdered the young police woman, Michèlle(22), with a shot in her head! Her colleague/mate, a policeman at the age of 24, is critically injured (also a shot in his head)... I do not find any more words.
HR 1 radio concert: wow! What great versions of 'The Grace Of A Dancer', 'Leningrad' and 'Raging Storm'! (I 'll find you wherever you arrreee; I will hear you when you caallll).
Loin De Moi: 'Lonely Sky' belongs to my favourites. But this duet is simply breathtaking (the beautiful French language, the wonderful lyrics and the strong voices - of course).
Storyman Concerts with band in the UK in November: I always adore your Solo concerts, because I need only you, your voice, the guitar and the piano. But after I had been at one of your Storyman concerts with band last year, I only hoped that there would be a possibility/chance for other people on this planet to see THIS SHOW - with all the visuals ('though I am sure that I couldn't realize everything) - with the surprise during 'Living In The World' and with the globe.... And I loved the choice of songs, which you sang in Stuttgart.
Please take care and carry on.
Love you, Gerlinde - loin de toi
P.S. I have to send a lot of prayers to God currently, because of the policeman(look above), our young neighbour(message No.32140 on the mailingList board) and because of the weather here in Öhringen. Not that we did not enjoy the wondeful sunny days but no single drop of rain for about six weeks - this is quite scary (the nature, the fields...).

Dear Chris,
actually I am sitting in front of my laptop, thinking what you have meant with the unpossibility to create a book with your lyrics inside, because they have a melody. So I can forget the idea to write a novel called "The stranger from the other side of the world", which would include some singing tales from you? I would not like to do something only for the paperbasket Chris! I took the last month to read a little bit in your MOTL-site. It is always very interesting. And I have heard the HR1 radio-concert over your website and the Zermatt-interview. Many thanks for posting it. I did a little computer-search for Bargy Castle as a hotel, but could not find it between all the other hotels. So why not? Very interesting was to read the Times-interview about Bargy Castle, but I never saw it in reality. So when I could go on journey to Ireland, I would like to see it. At the moment and the next years it will not be possible, because I have a dog from Italy, which unfortunately not wants to go by car. So I must stay and hope that you will be in the near of my town, than I can see you again what will happen soon this year. Furthermore I'm discovering your noten in your songbooks. That is new for me, especially with the piano, so I am slow, but my teacher told me that you began slow with playing your music too. I don't know wether it is true, Chris, but as you can read I have a lot to do around you and your music here in this town now, when I have free time.
Just looking forward to see you at wonderful places in my holidays. I'll get free from my work to go to your concerts !:))) Only a few month to wait. And I think the concerts of this year will be different from the others of the last year and the years before, as far as I know you now.
with lots of love to you and your music and lyrics

last year i was looking forward to the concert in birmingham nec as soon as it was announced on the cdeb official site but could not buy a ticket until the very last moment because i was not in the uk and am not a holder of a credit card. then a friend offered to drive me and surprisingly bought a ticket for himself too. we both enjoyed the concert, though he did not show it!
i am happy to see that in november chris is coming to three locations in england and i am looking forward to be in london on 18th november. this time i am not going to buy the ticket last second on the box office and i am not sitting on the tribune. i will be in the stalls because not being able to stand up and not really being able to show emotion to your favourite musician is not acceptable!

Hi Chris,
Great that Astrid put up the information on this site just in time to obtain tickets for the four U.K. gigs when they went on sale yesterday!
So there is a wonderful chance to getaway to the seaside with likeminded girls! Bournemouth's my favoutite place :-)
I'll definitely be high on emotion at Hammersmith and promise that you'll hear me from the Circle where I'll be with the Gang! Maybe it'd be too early to sing carols at the end of the gig..? Would be lovely!

Hi Chris,
well I guess you must be very very pleased right now....I know Stewart and I are... seeing Liverpool FC go through to the final of the Champions League competition again.....but what a semi-final match last night !!!!!!
Talk about 'edge of the seat' stuff !! Of course Liverpool deserved to win as 'on the night' they were the better team, but did they have to take it all the way to a penalty shoot out again
;-)...its bad for the nerves and very bad for the heart !!!!Now in just 3 weeks time, we have the final to look forward to..........can Liverpool do it again.....lets hope so!!
And even better, in just 9 weeks we have the start of the German tour...and I can't wait to hear the dulcet tones of your golden voice again:-))
And hopefully soon the tickets will go on sale for the UK concert dates.
Hope you and the family are all well.

She has wispered in my ears "How conquerer his's voice!" A song was playing on the radio, named When I think of you. That was the first time I heard your voice and I was 19 years old back in that time. She was love of my life as your voice speaks of my words. After I lost her I kept faith on and listen your songs. Sometime it hurt like in Missing you and sometimes it gave me something like in suzanna and traveller. But I could never get over the song named Girl. is there anybody going to listen to my story? its all about the girl who came to stay... Thank you chris now I am getting old however your songs are still young. god bless you and all you love

Dear Chris,
I hope you are fine and everything is alright.
As you have been talking so often about Eva Cassidy and about what a fantastic voice she would have had I finally bought the album called "Songbird" with the songs on it you talked about, "Fields of gold", "Over the rainbow" and "Songbird". In fact I thought, when you actually say she would be an incredible talent obviously there must be something in it. When listening I always have to think of your words and I really must stress you didn't exaggerate in no way! I'm absolutely gone over by her voice, she had got an angelic voice of such purity, so powerful and you just get blown away. I'm enchanted by these three songs, especially "Songbird" is my favourite. In fact it's quite a calm record, the songs convey a very peaceful mood but I also feel in some way that they are sad. I read that her records would seem full of premonitions. Furthermore I really love the instrumental pieces in every tune, their capacity to move appears to be boundless. It projects an unearthly sense of calm as in her meditative version of "Over the rainbow". I imagine when you were driving the car and you suddenly heard the song and you actually stopped the car and pulled over.
"People get ready" is also a great track, do you know this one too? Here Eva Cassidy somehow reminds me of Joan Baez and Tracy Chapman, I don't know why.
It's a crying shame you discovered her only too late. If you had done a duet with her, it probably would have become one of the greatest songs ever, with two most fantastic voices. Unfortunately she was very unknown during her lifetime and it is very sad that she didn't live to see her extraordinary success.
In addition of course I didn't want to miss the French version "Loin de moi" of "Lonely sky" which you sing together with Marie Elaine Thibert, so I bought the album "Comme ca". I'm also stunned by this light-hearted song, it kind of puts across an upbeat feeling. First time when listening to it, your voice sounded strange to me, so kind of unfamiliar. It's maybe because of the foreign language, then you really do sound different, like another pitch. Seeming this just for a moment, now after listening for the hundredth time I got used to it and it really does sound good, the French language usually sounds good in my opinion.
I like Marie Elaine Thibert's album, she's got a beautiful voice, however I have the feeling that I kind of miss more instrumental bits between the lyrics. Unfortunately I don't understand anything as I don't speak French. Only for your song "Loin de moi" I actually got several translations, some into German, a few into English, so I can choose the best one ;-).
Apart from your song, so far I like most "Ne m'en veux pas (j'aimerais tellement t'aimer)", whatever it may mean. In fact it's a strange feeling when you don't know at all what she is singing about.
All day long your song "Loin de moi" and the ones of Eva Cassidy are being played by turns, as loud as I like ;-), because my parents are on holidays and so I have the complete house for myself (and my dog).
For me certainly YOUR voice will always be the best and the most fantastic one.
Take care and don't forget, I love you.
Je t'embrasse,
A bientot,
