I wonder where you are.
And I wonder what you do.
Are you somewhere feeling lonely?
Or is someone loving you?

Dear Chris,

an extraordinary man does extraordinary things - doesn't he? What I am trying to say is: "I really loved to hear you singing 'The Storyman' above the high/main street of Dublin on St. Patricks's Day. That was very impressive. Thank you."

This week I missed your appearance on German TV (Frühstücksfernsehen). But I don't want to complain, because I enjoyed watching TV last Sunday ('One World' and 'Raging Storm'). It's a pity that you couldn't take this opportunity to advertise your forthcoming summer concerts.

Regarding the recent radio concert: obviously you sang only songs from your latest albums which I like so much ('The Road To Freedom' and 'The Storyman'). This must have been great.

And as far as your answers (MOtL) are concerned, I loved reading your comments about/on love songs (March 28). Thank you.

I thoroughly enjoy the spring flowers, and I've been waiting for the return of the swallows.

Please take good care and carry on. Love and missing you, Gerlinde

I wonder where you are.
And I wonder what you do.
Are you somewhere feeling lonely?
Or is someone loving you?

Hi Chris,

thanks for beeing back with MotL.

A few days ago there was a question from somebody who wants to hear more lovesongs at your concerts. He pointed out, that you have the gift to express love feelings with the help of music. Of course you have. But I think you have the gift to express ALL kinds of emontions. You can also express desperation, teariness, fury and hate with absolutly unique passion. So I hope, that I never have to miss songs like "The Revolution", "The Leader" or "The Road th Freedom" in your concerts!

Thanks for taking us on a journey not only trough different times and places but also trough all kinds of emotions!

Michaela

Discovering today that the Man on the Line section is once again active made my day. It gives hope that maybe, just maybe, my one question to you, Chris, will be answered. I'm just dying to hear an answer (it was a question about "Making the perfect man"). ;-) I also liked to read your answer to the question about the references to other albums in the Storyman song. From the first time I heard that song I knew this was more than a coincidence and you've now confirmed that. Thanks!

Also reading these answers in relation to the Storyman album, has changed my perception of this album. It's grown on me a lot since I deposited my question a while ago when the album wasn't out so long. To me it is still not your best, but it's a very good album in it's own right. There are some very powerful lines in there.

Finally I am amazed every time I read your replies at how nice of a person you seem to be. You're the kind of person I dream of taking for a ride in my restored 34 year old Ford Granada coupe (although you're probably used to higher class rides). Just you and me, winding along the country roads discussing your beautiful music and your view on the world and life itself, with your music pouring from the cars' sound system. Well one can dream can't one?!

Dear Chris,

Your music is such an inspiration. As a novelist, I always have music playing while I write. One of my characters is a harper/storyteller in the Dark Ages and your CDs are great when I need to encapsulate Dafydd's gentle/creative soul. I've been a fan a very long time--since "Spanish Trains"! I hope someday you will tour America and come to Indianapolis. I will be in line for tickets--front and center stage.

Thanks for the joy you give the world with your gifts.

Janaka

Dear Chris,

I hope you have time to read your fan's messages....I randomly found this site and what a great feeling I have right now to be actually typing this message directly to you!

I grew up on your songs...and I don't know what it is, but when you sing, you INSPIRE, EMPOWER, ENCOURAGE and truly TOUCH ONE'S HEART.

At this day and age, so many things have gone wrong, that just listening to you is tuly a healing experience.

I really liked the latest song you sang with Hani "My father's Eyes"

Keep singing, and keep delighting us.
God Bless you, Aida.

Dear Chris,
Just want to say a very big THANK YOU for the wonderful concert you did in Frankfurt (HR1) yesterday. We've been 2 of the lucky winners and it was a great honor and pleasure for us to be there.
We really love you playing solo, but mind you: We had to get used a bit to some of the Storyman songs without the band :-)
We look really forward to your summer shows!!
And: If you forget the words again, we are of cause willing to help you out like we tried yesterday...
Keep on smiling :-)

Hi. our greatest singer!
It's a great joy to write this note.
you know, i want to ask you sth that your other iranian fans have asked before but we don't know why it doesn't happen! we don't know perhaps you don't want it to be happend or you can not do this anyway , but we won't give up and we'll ask it for thousands! (My apologize).
we know that there're some problems that prevent this request, but we wish to come to one of your concerts in Iran.my friends tell me : well go to one of his tours and concerts .but there's some damn rules that prevent me( us ) to do it!
like the big damn exam that we must pass in summer and etc.
i don't know ,i've just heard in one of your interviews at the end of THE ROAD TO FREEDOM concert In Hotel KRAUTKRAMER in germany that you came Iran and enjoyed our foods (thanks and happy to hear that.) but why you kept us thirsty and .... .
anyway. i hope that you read this (letter)yourself and make us happy.
thanks and wish to see you in Iran.
best wishes for you and for your family.

Dear Chris,

I just write to tell you, that your music has meant the world to me since my youth - there is noone whose music and lyrics can touch & move me like yours. The greatest song I have ever heard must be "Read my name". Before that it was "Borderline". Or maybe "Perfect day". Or maybe some other of the wonderful songs with which you have enriched the world. My world, at least. I am deeply grateful to you.

It's quite simple Chris. You have touched my life for over twenty years now and continue to do so. Since 1980 your music has brought joy and wonder to me mentally and especially spiritually. I wish you knew just how much of a difference your music and you as a person has made in my life. Through happiness and death that has surrounded me over the years your "stuff" as I like to call it, strengthens me and grounds me. An acquaintance of my family, "Tony Q" lives around the corner from you and I asked him many years ago if he ever ran into you to say hi. Let's hope he did. Thank you ever so much and thank you again. My truck is warming up for another long haul so I best finish off here and I won't forget my favorite CD. God Bless. Dan Bush

Dear Chris, we enjoyed seeing both you and Rosanna on the St.Patrick's day programme, but were dissapointed that they dubbed over both of you when you spoke, sub-titles would have better, I know it was a German production, but I daresay a lot of UK fans would have been watching also.We did unfortately miss the Table of Reds though, couldn't find when it was going to be shown. Dear Chris,

I felt like dropping you a line because I would like to tell you that I was really impressed by your extraordinary performance at "ZDF Global" on St. Patrick's Day. You know, this is just the way I love you, simply being uncomplicated and modest, kind of just dropping in and being ready to sing a song, actually no problem for you. All you need is a guitar and you can give a really great show anywhere, at any time, even on kind of a bridge six metres above the road of the parade, beating the noise level and never getting put off your stroke. Your spell is being just you yourself and your down-to-earth appearance made me feel your charisma and love spreading through the screen :-). And also Rosanna made a great appearance, you both were fantastic. I'm always fond of Live-programmes because it has this little bit extra with knowing exactly now you are standing there talking with this man, exactly now you are in Dublin, your hometown, just coming from London that morning... exactly now you are picking your nose... ;-) a joke!
Hopefully you had a great day later on with your family at home and you enjoyed yourself with a little celebration in the evening.

Indeed I extremely look forward to hearing the song at your upcoming tour in summer! My first concert will be in Regensburg July 10th followed by Augsburg and the last in Chiemsee at the lake-stage. So I'm in for a real treat this year, even 3 concerts I'm going to attend. By now I actually have created two gifts for you and I'm dying for giving them to you ;-)))))) (!!!), already picturing it to myself every day, as you know, I'm a dreamer. Still four months to wait... Every morning when I leave the house I think to myself when I will have managed that day it actually will be one day closer to July. And it keeps me going.

Take care and don't stress yourself with a hectic time schedule!
With love and respect,
Je t'embrasse, a bientot,

... and I'll be missing you ...

P.S. Thank you for being back with MOtL. I'm really glad, every day it gives me a little light.

Dear Chris, thank you so much for answering my question on MOTL, what a nice surprise at 7.30 on a Sunday morning.Everyone says what a dump Hull is, but it is being worked on and sometimes I don't recognise parts of it myself( but we still have our lovely theatre - ideal for solo concerts!!).I'm glad you received the photos ok and yes, we thoroughly enjoyed the Ice Show at the Sheffield Arena, only wished you'd been on for the whole show and that we'd had better seats but at least we were there. Oh dear, what a bad day for the England rugby team, at least my other 2/3s won Wales(!) and Ireland,oh yes and Hull FC (our black and white rugby league team) got their second win of the new superleague season - and against St.Helens who we always struggle to beat, now we're not holding up all the other teams!!! Love always, Pauline XX (The Yorkshire Rose)

Dear Chris,
Only last night did I finally manage to listen to the interview you gave at Rock Radio station from Salonica.

Being a Greek, I feel deeply touched by your enthusiastic and heart warming words about my country despite that terrible drawback caused by the irresponsibility of the local promoter. I really enjoyed the lively tone of your voice and your constant eagerness to communicate your thoughts, feelings and ideas to your friends and fans even here in Greece.

We all know that you are an incredibly sensitive, kind, thoughtful and cultivated artist who always finds a most eloquent and direct way of demonstrating your appreciation and love towards your fans all over the world, and their countries, too. You are a Story-man of One world, conveying the magic and beauty of the places you have either visited and/or have been inspired by. So, it is always with great interest that I absorb your impressions from your journeys worldwide, feeling surrounded by a spirit of togetherness and respect for other people and their culture.

The reason I am saying all these things is that I began to love Greece again through your words!!! You know how it is, when you get totally disappointed by all those setbacks and negative attitudes in your daily routine, when you see corruption, indifference and hypocrisy prevailing and you lose hope as far as the future of your country is concerned, getting nostalgic of the “good old days” and even feeling ashamed; this is at least how I have felt given the local promoter’s hideous attitude. And then here comes your favourite artist speaking so warmly and fondly of “the famous Greek mythology” (Ferryman inspiration), the “great spirituality, integrity, history, civilization, hospitality and honour of Greece and the Greek people”, even the “gorgeous” food and drink – raki, ouzo and wine – and the love and passion (meráki is the Greek word) that Greeks and Irish put in the production of their drinks!

Those qualities still exist, but as I said earlier, sometimes we become so pessimistic that we overlook them. Listening to you saying that Greece is so very special to your heart, that you absolutely love it and that you will be very happy to come back, filled my heart of darkness with light and got me high on emotion again!

THANK YOU, CHRIS, for your kind words and warm feelings. Yes, you are indeed very special to many Greeks, who are eagerly waiting to enjoy you Live in Greece for a summer concert maybe, and say to you Kalos Orises; WELCOME.

With love and respect,

Dimitra (Ms Lycabettus)

Hi everyone.
It is so great to see a site like this that is so well laid out for a fan such as myself.
I have collected albums, cd's etc of Chris.
I am really hoping they come here to Canada.
I have not gone to a music concert and I would love to have his concert be my first concert.
I enjoy hearing the music and lyrics of Chris de Burgh throughout the years.
I find them timeless, amusing sometimes, thought-provoking but always totally entertaining.
So in short, to Chris de Burgh and the person who designed this web site: Keep up the terrific work, Here's to many more years!

Hi Chris!

It was great to listen to all the radio interviews during the last 2 days,
I love these "signs of life" from you!

The best, of course, was the interview on Magic 1548 - to hear my name
pronounced by you really made my day, my week.....the whole month!!!
And yes, today it is "alles gut in Deutschland", and yes, Doris was jumping up and down (but she was not the only one, I also was dancing on the
ceiling!) :)))
Thanks for all those fantastic things you are doing for us!

I'm sooooo looking forward to see you this summer (by the way, "only" 4
months and 8 days!), November already seems to be so far away!!!

Love you and miss you

Hi Chris

Thanks for the fantastic "One World" concert in Birmingham in November. Another batch of first class songs, particularly "Spirit". I sincerely hope there will be a "One World" volume 2 and more concerts in England.
I nevr thought your original band could be surpassed, but your current band are absolutely fabulous

Hi Chris,
it was nice to hear at least some of the radio interviews on the UK radio stations today. Lucky Michael being able to do his work experience at 'Anfield'.
Dare we hope that the concerts with band that you mentioned at the end of the Radio Leeds interview, which are later in the year.....are actually going to be in England....now that would be GREAT.

Talking about Anfield, what a match this evening !!! The last 15 minutes or so, was really 'edge of the seat' stuff !!! now Liverpool are through to the quater finals of the Champions league :-)))))
Love and hugs as ever,

Dear Chris,
that was a lovely morning today. It started with listening to the first interview over your website, where you told, that you were watching the world from outside on tv and than created the song "One World", what is in Germany thanks the programms of the Nasa possible too and it reminded me to the big earth balloon which was running through the concerthalls last year!
Than I heard the other interview, where you told about "Raging Storm" the story of the rescued girl which than grown up with all the other children of the family and was going to be adult and leaving and that you are all going to the football-match between Liverpool and Barcelona tonight. Furthermore it was very interesting to hear, that you are not always a only nice man, instead of it a hard fighter in music-bussiness like a boxer who sometimes is knocked out and has to stand up again. Nice to hear that you will fight once more the next year. I heard about the new single "Raging Storm", that it is recorded again in Abbey Road Studio behind a wall of glass.
In the next interview I heard about Michael your son that he is very interested in football and that your evening today is a present for him from you. He really can be proud to have such a father like you, Chris and it was very nice that you talked a little bit about your family. Finally I heard from your advice for your sons to sing very loudly, for it is better for the voice, because it is important to sing with refilled lungs and slow down the voice later. Thank you very much for this advice, I've heard from you, even now.
After such a wonderful morning here in Germany, I like to wish you all a happy evening in the game from far, far away.
Raging Storm CD is now on the twelfes this week I heard, congratulation.
Thanks for these interviews, that makes my day happy and I wish you good luck in all your upcomming fights in music. I'm sure you will win them all!
with love
Monika

Hi Chris,
what a shame about the result of the 'game' this afternoon :-(( Liverpool out played and out classed Man U for the whole game, but just could not find the back of the 'net'
:-(( Man U surely did not deserve to win the match at all, but they were lucky enough to score right at the end of the match, in extra time, just as last time they played Liverpool at home....I think it was.
Now we have to pray hard that Liverpool win the Champions League match on Tuesday evening.......at least they have a good head start with 2 away goals under their belts already!!
Hope all is well with you and the family.
love and hugs as ever,

Dear Chris,

today I was in Künzelsau. Künzelsau? :) There I went for a very short walk along the river, looked at the other side of the 'Kocher' with a genuine/real longing, saw the beautiful castle, and the memories came rolling down of Künzelsau, July 24, 1998 and Künzelsau, July 24, 2003. :)

Love and missing you, Gerlinde
