Hello Chris.

I bought you latest album and I enjoyed it very much.
I especially love your songs: In my fathers eyes, and the song The Storyman.
I was surprised to hear so many lines of your most famous songs in this one song.
When are you coming to Holland again?
Many warm greetings from :

Dear Chris,

again I will take the chance to post to the guestbook, I haven't written for half a year, because I have been extremely busy ...
But actually there is so much to say...

First, I want to thank you for your beautiful music, songs and stories
of your new 'Storyman' album.
My favourite songs are currently: the 'Storyman' and the 'Shadow of the Mountain' (what a divine melody!), but all songs and stories, especially 'Mirror of the Soul', are extraordinary!
The flute melody in Storyman reminds me of a kind of renaissance music, which is called 'Hupfauf' in German, beautiful! The best of 'Storyman' for me though is the part:

Follow the light that's shining on to where we will be going,
Up to Heaven, Paradise, or to the heart divine;
It’s in the echoes of a child, waiting for the journey,
The spirit of one world;

The refrains of 'Leningrad' together with the drum and the voices of the Russian choir are very expressive. Could you please explain what do you sing after 'Oh Leningrad' (maybe in MotL)?
There are two short sentences I do not understand. They aren't stated in the booklet.

What I finally want to say: Congratulation to your new album!
I think it is the best album you released (with this statement I won't devaluate the others of course, I love them all!). Your music is always with me when I go by car. Please keep up your work!
I am looking forward to 'Storyman 2, 3, 4...'.

Secondly I want to tell you that the concerts last year in Germany were great as ever.
Unfortunately I could only attend two of them because of my new teaching profession.
Hence no fan-meeting for me in Dortmund last year after the meet and greet in 2004...
The two concerts together with the band were unforgettable, nice to meet Al again and Krystina and the others!
Your video to the Leader triology, was very impressive. I wish there weren't any conflict areas in this
world any longer. But mankind doesn't learn anything from history at any time...
To listen to your new storyman songs live was amazing, especially the 'Mirror of the Soul' is
a song that makes us think about religions and their established institutions (the third part of the song is the best in my opinion).
Anyway, I missed 'Rainy Night in Paris' (the new guitar version is really groovy at the end!) in the setlist of the last concerts and of course 'The Journey' which is one of my favorites from 'Road to Freedom'.
But I was very happy to listen to 'Love of the heart divine'.

This year you'll go on tour again in Germany in summer. Just unbelievable, so many concerts! I am really lucky to live in Germany, and I want to visit all of your forthcoming openair concerts, but it's not
possible I'm afraid. Well, I will gather as many as I can.

Please keep things going, all the best for you!

G.

Maybe you remember the Haut L. last summer, that was me.

Hi Chris

Needless to say I'm happy about the tourdates that were published on Friday and it's great to have you again at the Live at sunset-venue in Zürich.

But I have to take up the cudgels for all the other fans outside of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and I truly hope you will have some more plans up your sleeves and this won't be the only concerts for this tour.

Don't understand me wrong, I feel honoured to get the opportunity to attend so many concerts, but as far as I'm concerned I don't mind sharing you with the rest of the world - they had been waiting so much longer for you!

Hello Chris,

Well, it is nice to see the new tour dates, but once again I am disspointed like many people who are waiting for you to perform some concerts out of Germany. Well, I have no objection that you are giving concerts in Germany, but giving 19 new concerts, and giving 17 of them in Germany, and other two in other neighbour German speaking countries (Zurich/Switzerland, Austria) is really too much!!!

Waiting, waiting, and waiting... But until when we will be waiting??? We cant travel to Germany everytime we want to watch you...

Best Wishes,
Feyzullah

Dear Chris,

Great news of your summer solo tour!

But I'm really hoping and praying that the itinerary is just 'stage one' and that there will be more concerts announced?

Like me, many of your fans in the U.K. just can't get to grips with the thought that you have no plans at present to play over here ..??

Please make us smile again?!

From the heart!

Hi Chris,
I've had the pleasure to be at your concert in Munich. I was absolutely impressed about your music. It's more than a story which a storyman tell, because it receive magic with this unmistakable music and your voice.
I've told my mother, that your music is able to touch the soul of the people. And when they feel up to get engage with the music and the story, they will be able to feel this incredible magic that touch the soul.
Thank you for the music and this wonderful evening. :-)
I think everyone is able to enchant the people but only a few people are famous enough to get in touch with them.
Love and hug

Dear Chris,

I just had a moment while scrolling through the entries in the guestbook. This is totally ludicrous what I'm about to say, but something clearly struck a chord in the emotional memory banks of my earlier fan days. Here goes-

Seeing other people penning out your beautiful lyrics feels like they've somehow trespassed on my heart by claiming something that wasn't theirs. "No. Those lyrics are part of MY story, MY identity," a hidden chamber of my heart says. It felt akin to a jealous lover hearing someone else sweetly uttering the beloved's name. I realized I felt a strange tinge of possessiveness. Now before you, Chris, or anyone thinks me a mad woman, I must explain. It's perfectly logical really, I think.(to be read w/ a slight question mark) :) I'm sure I wouldn't be having these feelings if my adolescent years had been spent in one of the many countries in Europe where you have always had a gazillion fans! But being from the United States it seemed I was the only one who knew about you. You were mine! My Chris de Burgh. Anyone who knew me knew that. I shared your music any chance I got. I had these visions of walking through the square at my high school and your music blaring over the loud speaker for all to hear! When I would spin my vinyl records of your albums in the living room of my house, I would crank the windows open for anyone who had ears. Maybe a passing car took a phrase or two in I hoped, but for sure, Old Mr. Bill puttering in his garden across the street heard it. I think he was secretly smiling to himself as I bared my soul in song.
With all the energy I put in to exposing other people to your music, you'd think I'd be ecstatic to read about other people sharing the same fondness. It's quite a paradox. On the one hand, I proudly tell people I know about all the fans you have from around the world that write in to this website! But then there are moments, like tonight, where I'm caught off guard by the subtle twinge of my heart that yearns to claim its rights of exclusive affection.

Oh what a naive heart.

Love,

Heather

Dear Chris,

I hope you are well. With us a heavy hurricane has blown yesterday. Unfortunately, no great damages are some people fortunately died. This is sad. Memories of Lothar nine years ago got awake and I was afraid that it gets so bad again. We helplessly are delivered to the nature forces. . You lives in the near of the sea you have none afraidly? It looks as long as it is peaceful out however if the waves are meters high beautiful it is alarming. The climate change is there, on the one hand natural and accelerated by us.We will have to get used to such weather extremes completely certainly in the future. We must protect our earth if we want to live here. he leaders of all countries of this earth should finally understand this. I miss you and hope you come back to germany soon.

With Love

I used to love singing Patricia The Stripper to my school friends years ago! Now I am moved at the sound of your voice when you sing meaningful war songs. They make me think of unknown ancestors who suffered and struggled. You touch peoples hearts with your music. I recently found out you are a healer too. Your music also heals people, I am sure.
Thank you.

Hi Chris,

I was searching for which album the song Borderline was from and I came across your web site.

I was very happy to see that you are still touring and I wish you great sucess with your newest album. (coming to Canada??)

Your songs, or should I say stories, have a significant part in my life. I used to play one in particular (Transmission Lines) on my guitar. I actually played and sang it for my wife (then girlfriend) on our first date and she still to this day (21 years later) asks me to play it whenever I pick up my guitar.

God bless you and your family. Thank you for sharing your great talent and your heart with us.

Well... Since it is the new year, generally speaking, we are all filled with hopes, dreams, great expectations, etc. :) So, what is my great expectation from 2007? And why I feel the need to write it down here? I think it is just because it has something to do with this website, and the person to whom this website is dedicated! Guess who??? :) Of course Chris De Burgh. Who else it can be!!!

Last year in Stuttgart, I had the chance to watch you performing for the first time in my life since my first encounter with your music in June 1999. Truly speaking, the concert in Stuttgart was one of the best three-hours in my life. However, when looking back at the 7 years that I have known you, and been listening to your music, 1 concert in 7 years, it's not a good number, right? ;)

I remember that you said in your last entry in the MOTL section on the 20th of December 2006 that there is going to be a few surprizes in the 2007 about the upcoming concerts. So my great expectation from 2007 is that I hope it will let me watch you for the second, third, fourth or maybe the fifth time in my life. I hope that your surprizes about the concerts will include first Turkey (my homecountry!), if not then Sweden (where I live at the moment), or Norway, Finland, Denmark (relatively closer places to travel for your concert!) Hehe...

So, my dreams, my hopes, my great expectations, and your plans, ideas, thoughts... I just hope that they will coincide somewhere, sometime in 2007! :)

With love,
Feyzullah

Hi Chris and everyone who reads this!
My friend Mike and I have had a plan to bring Lady In Red back to number one in 2007. On January 1st, the laws for the charts changed so that any song, no matter when it was released, can enter the top 40 on download sales, and if we get around 30,000 people to download Lady In Red during the same week, we can get it to number one!

We've started a group on Facebook for everyone to sign up and keep updated so we thought we'd let you guys know in case you were interested. Go here for more info: http://manchester.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2230848983&ref=nf

You'll need to sign up to Facebook to join but it only takes a couple of minutes and then we're on our way to chart history!

Feel free to email me with any questions.

Thanks, Rob

Dear Chris,

I'm very grateful that you come to Germany persistently - to perform concerts, TV-appearances... :-) May I tell you what's currently going on in my country? I thought you might be interested in. Am I right???

The bureaucracy is unbearable - just ask doctors and farmers...

The people, who are lucky enough to have a job, will have definitely less money in 2007 because of higher pension scheme contributions and also higher rates of subscription to/for(?) the health insurance companies.

The politicians have changed even the retirement age from 65 to 67! This means people shall work until the age of 67! I try to imagine a craftsman, who has worked all his life, f.i. standing on a ladder, wobbling... at he age of 67 - whereas young people get no jobs (it's such a struggle).

Students: As far as the students are concerned: here in the south of Germany (Baden-Württemberg) with the beginning of the autumn semester the students will have to pay 500 € for each semester. (That's new.)

And the politicans have abolished a lot of tax allowances. This concerns especially those who must travel far to their companies every day (15 Mio. workers!) - in those times where petrol is soooo expensive.

And at last and least the worst: as you probably know: last summer during the World Cup here in Germany was such a indescrible, fantastic mood... :-) And guess what? I could jump out of my skin really! THE POLITICIANS TOOK ADVANTAGE of this situation and decided on tax increases. (until 2006: 16%; 2007: 19%). They demand and demand of us - and we (especially the families) struggle and struggle. I have lived almost my life but I just worry about the next generation.

Standing in the cold, pouring rain - love you, Gerlinde (mother of 2 teenies and 2 twenties).

P.S. Sorry my English.

Hi Chris and a Happy New Year to you and the family, yes, I know I,m a couple of days late, but yesterday i didn't feel in a Happy New Year mood. There's a small club a few doors from where I live and they decided they would have a firework "display", it wasn't a display of course, more like a war zone for a full half hour, one of our dogs was so stressed out he started destroying things - and that was after he'd had his valium!!! I'll never know why anyone wants to let off these horrific bangs when there is so much war around the world in places where people would be glad to have the peace we have here.Anyway, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and that the New Year is even better than the last, love always, Pauline (The Lady in Red)XXX

Dear Chris,
the Christmastime is nearly over now, only a few days and the spell around these days will be gone. I was alone here in this time, but with your songs and DVD's to look at not lost at all! I found you in interviews and walking through a forest and it felt good to listen to all your stories you told there about your songs and how you found your wife. And I saw you here on television again, at least with the song "The Storyman". I hope you had a good time with your guest you got from Carmen Nebel, I think you had. Here the new year 2007 has begun even now, so I want to say cheers to you for a happy, healthy and successful new year, just after midnight. I saw all the small rockets flying to the sky from a window high above the town and it was wonderful for half an hour. And I'm often listening to your albums, by the way, to most of them and I think this will be in the new year just the same here, like in the lots of yeas before.
"somethings never change"
Monika
