Hi Chris,
I had to smile when reading the answer to Chris R posted on MOTL July 26th about ballroom dancing: I once tried to invite you to our "Abiball"/prom night in 1993 when you were supposed to come to Dortmund near Hattingen anyway. Almost all the pupils of class 1993 were huge fans of yours. You couldn't come to Dortmund though because of your wife's accident. You would have had no problem dancing with me because I am small (1,56 m). So, if you feel like ballroom dancing lessons in Dortmund in November this year - just give me a call ;-)
Enjoy your tour, Bye
Simone

Dear Chris,

I think the same, i can´t understand people who think there are better or can give the only right way to live.
I hope you say this, often again, for the people, the freedom and all humans.

1.The first time when I hear your musik I found it terrible. I was twelfe or so.
But now I think it's so amazing, how the sounds harmonies.
2. I'm very interested in your person. Not in that way, like most of others. I just want to know something about your charakter, 'cause it's interesting for me to learn from you in things like musik.
That's what I wanna say to you. I hope

Thank you Chris, for a very special, special intimate evening at Bgd. near S. on July 20! It was such an extraordinary romantic late afternoon in the little marquee surrounded by huge mountains and woods with the sun setting down. The weather was pretty warm and brilliant for seeing the mountain range, especially the W.. Your solo concert was incredible and full of emotion, inside the tent the atmosphere was just overwhelming and marvellous. All in all it had been such a wonderful, fabulous evening just for us with quite a small audience......... Fantastic!
This is just a little notice to point out how you feel when you read something like this, compared with the obviously secret evenings like "B." and "I.". In fact it may be none of my business when there are evenings just for "special" fans or whatever, of which no one is meant to know. When nobody mustn't know, I actually don't want to know it at all.
I'm not speaking just for me but for all the other fans because it's just not fair and ok to kind of show off with alleged unofficial concerts or evenings and make other ones just envious. We are not in the kindergarten after all.
Well, "I." was probably Ingolstadt but the thing with "B." is really a strange one, I guess.
So far, no offence!
Love,
Julia (Sorry Chris, this was meant as a more general message for the public.)
Btw. the foresaid concert was actually in 2002 at Berchtesgaden!
P.S.: From the comments it follows that it would have been a very intimate evening for just a few people. But how comes that only these very people do get to know of it? I mean, how "special" do you actually must be... That's really confusing and strange.
If I got something wrong, of course I must apologise.

Hi Chris,
well as you know I just spent a week in Germany with some of my 'CdeB' friends, and what a great time we all had. We had so much fun and lots of laughs, and a fantastically wonderful day on the Wednesday :-))))))))The Wenesday evening was pretty good fun as well ;-) as written in our last joint guestbook entry !! I arrived home last night (Saturday) at around 22:00 hrs, totally shattered but also very very high on emotion, and at the same time a little sad as it meant that i was returning to the 'real' world and was leaving all my friends in various places around Germany etc. It is always such a sad and emotional time to say goodbye to each other at the airport. I was only away for 1 week, but it seemed so much longer, as we had soo much fun and 'my real work' was like a 'world' away. The highlights of my/our week were most definately I. and B....Berlin wasn't it ;-)!!!!!!!!
Now as I sit here at home with 'my brother' ;-) , I guess the routine will be the same 'Day After Day';-(( Ah well, its only another 8 weeks till Killarney :-)) If I could, I would leave a red rose at the end of this entry, but alas I cannot, so you will just have to imagine it ;-)Shouldn't be 'too hard' for you just remember I.!!
love and hugs as always,
Chris xxXxx... thebluehealer

Dear Chris,
thanks a lot for this special day and of course the fantastic concert in the monastery.
It's a breathtaking special place, especially for a concert with you......Amazing.
For me it was a dream meeting you in such a private atmosphere.
Thank you so much for taking a photo together and signing photos and booklets.
It was a proud day for me. Thank you very much.
See you, hopefully once more for such a special concert at this particular place.
Warm thanks to all the wonderful people who were involved in organizing this event.
All the best for you, keep well and fit
We're waiting for the "Storyman"
Best wishes..........:-)
yours Gabi
PS: Thanks for answering my question in MotL. The end of a perfect week....:-)

Hi Chris,
Some time ago I wrote to you asking you if you had ever considered writing a song about how you felt towards your fans.
The other day I was listening to the lyrics of the song, "Where We Will Be Going." This song, in my opinion, could describe those feelings exactly.
What do you think?
It must be a wonderful experience when you're giving a concert and the interaction that's going on between you and your fans.
All the Best -

Hello Chris,
Just to say thank you here for answering my question about ballroom dancing on 26th July on MOtL. You have been kind and answered quite a few now! ;-)
Should you wish to find someone the right height to be your partner I think that there would be no problem to find some volunteers amongst your fans!!
I'm a bit late writing here but so much has been happening including the sky trying to fall on our house!! LOL
Big thanks!

Hi Chris, just read in motl about the ballroom dancing thing, listen as I'm only 5'2" for my sins I would be a perfect dancing partner for you, how do I know? Colin is the same height and we get on just fine-although we don't actually do the ballroom dancing. I went to lessons as a kid but my mum took me out as the teacher was a very good looking male and I don't think she trusted him with the girls!!! There were boys there too, including my brother, what a letdown, I so wanted to be able to dance properley. Maybe one day we'll get together, I'll show you a dance that'll make your hair stand on end!! I was hoping that we might make it to Killarney for the concert, but we tragically and suddenly lost one of our dogs last month and were land with a vets bill of £700 plus ac remation bill of over a hundred so something had to give, thank God we've got the NEC and Amsterdam tickets, I also read that you are thinking of doing a solo tour next summer, please, please don't do anything on June 22/23 as my stepson gets married in York that weekend and I'd be gutted if I couldn't get to see you - unless of course it was at the Barbican then there'd be no problem, we could do the 'night do' after the concert. Love Pauline XX

Dear Chris,
I am 34 in two days and I'm not used to receive present for my birthday. But this morning I received the newspaper at work and it sounds like a present... I saw that you will come in Luxembourg in December. You cannot imagine what you represent for me. 20 years ago I dicovered you and your music. A friend of my parents give me records and one of yours was one of them. The first time I heard it I feel something special coming through your voice. Since then I cannot live without listening to you. 4 years ago you came in Luxembourg and I went there to see you. I was alone to go there but It didn't matter for me because I shared this evening with you. It was a very intimist concert. At the end I when near the stage. You were only at 2 meters from me and our yes crossed eachothers. It was magic. Now when I listen to your song "Blond hair, blue jeans", I imagine you are singing it for me.
I am belgian. Why don't you never come in belgium?
Well I't the end of all my stories. Maybe one day I will receive an other present .... a mail from you!?!?
Eventhough, I thank you for your music and the dream you give through it.
See you in December. With tenderness. Jocelyne

After I sent my question to you I found three grammar / writing mistakes in it - SORRY for that!!! :-)
Maybe it´s the great heat??
( Leads me to another question: How do you handle it? Do you have a special recipe? ) It´s the third week at about 30° C without any rain and you´re not able to get used to it :-(
Still love you - greetings from "hot Berlin"

Hi Chris, just wanted to say thank you for answering my question about the calendars, by the way, you look just a sexy without your specs as you do with them make no mistake! It doesn't matter that you're of a "certain age" or wear specs to read, my husband Colin is your age and we both wear specs( although I am dabbling in contacts. I so wanted to be at the Killarney concert later this year as it is on Colins' birthday, but tragedy struck last month when one of our beloved dogs died suddenly incurring us a bill of £700 plus another £117 for cremation(Bracken is now on the hearth with Brandy and Oliver), needless to say, something had to give, thank God I've got the tickets for the NEC and Amsterdam - I am counting off the weeks.Love always Pauline XX

I presently live in Calgary Alberta, Canada and I am hoping that you'll be doing some Canadian dates here in Canada. I think YOU ROCK!!! And my friends do too. Dear Chris,
sorry I had not had the chance to write you a letter on a piece of paper the last days, so I hope the roses can tell you a little bit about my feelings for you. We just met us in concert in this town and it was a lovely evening there. I have never seen you singing with an orchestra in the background, now I saw. I hope you feel well. I feel very well now and I still don't sleep, because I have you on my mind. It is wonderful to sit here on my little laptop in the town, maybe you are in a hotel there. When all the other stars were comming back to the stage to sing "Imagine" and "All you need is love", where have you been? Out in the dark and away, like always.
With lots of love

Dear Chris,
Let's take a trip down memory lane...
... Exactly one year ago you performed the beautiful concert in Weissenburg and I gave you my
self-painted picture! De Burgh in Weissenburgh at the Wülzburgh, do you remember? ;-) It was a very cold evening even with rain just before the show and the view was nothing but fog and rising mist. However you surely would have had a rather gorgeous view from the castle over the country. In fact it's kind of a pity but never mind, the concert was extraordinary anyway. With the love and warmth you radiated and spread throughout the whole place, nobody could get frozen.
If you did a tour this year at the same time, it wouldn't be cold in the slightest, even the evenings are actually pretty warm at the moment.
One complete year, can you imagine? I can&'t...
Every managed day is actually one day closer to November 22.
Missing someone is like sort of an illness, intermittently you get kind of attacks. – Just as right now...
Hopefully you had had great holidays and you are quite rested. You know, sooner or later your holiday must come to an end, I think it is over always too quickly and I have a bit of a problem with it every time again. But everything must come to an end some time or other. Life seems to be like a wheel, a wheel that goes on continuously and drags everything with it, whether you like or not, and you can't get out of it.
Now we will go boating with our rubber dinghy at the Achensee. While gliding over the lake, dangling my hand over the side of the boat and feeling the cool, silky water catch hold of my fingers and trail them back, I will dream of you. Because there doesn't pass away any hour without thinking of you for at least one time.
I just wrote intermediate examination of my occupation and for a short period of time thankfully I don't have to learn throughout the whole weekends anymore.
Come and bring a light into the dark!
This world actually needs you, give it a light,
Because a hand that heals wounds doesn't ask for the reason...
Every little moment , that we contribute to others,
Comes back as a day , of that we will think forever...
Take care!
Love and hugs,
Julia (19) from Germany
P.S.: Please don't miss my recent letter, which should be in the piles of post that grew during your absence.

Don't know if you'll get to read this as you so much to read already! LOVE your work. "Fatal Hesitation" is just about my favorite. Right up there with "Revolution". I can tell you are a man of God. Would like to see you in Texas sometime soon. Thanks for sharing your talent with the world! I think your song "Borderline" is probably the most appropriate one to play right now with that's going on in the world right now. Take care of yourself and your family. My Dearest Chris De Burgh,
Why have you postponed your concert in Athens, Greece?? I was waiting for this night my whole life!!Oh, please, PLEASE DO come in september..Don't cancel your appearance as so many others did.. You are my family's most beloving artist. Me and my brother grew up, listening to your songs..!Even my dog comes and lies in my room every time my cd-player plays one of your cd's! What I love about you is the way you face life. This way is so beautiful, so simple, so romantic, so true.. You love life in a very special way and is so wonderful that you can pass your emotions into your music so that we, ordinary people, can learn its value. I have so many things to tell you but it's quite late and I have to go to sleep. One last comment. Thank you for existing and thank you for changing my life!!! (by the way, my brother says that your not a simple artist but a real religion!!!) I AGREE!!!!

Bonjour Chris,
I want to thank you for your music. It brings so much joy in our family life. My husband and I have seen all of your shows in Quebec since 1985. We listen to your songs every day and we love all of your albums. The last one "The Road to Freedom-Special Edition" is one of our favorite with "Quiet Revolution". I also listen quite often your first albums "Far beyond these castle walls..." and "At the end of a perfect day". Those two albums are filled with beautiful melody. Today I sat quietly in the living room and I listen to "Crusader". When the song "Something else again" played, I felt a lot of love and happiness in my heart. What a beautiful love song ! I hope, one day, you will sing this song in one of your show in Quebec. Thank you for making this world a better place with your music and we wish you and your family a summer filled with joy, love and peace.

Dear Chris
I also want to thank you for so many beautiful songs you gave to this world I adore your music and I can say to you that during your song "Lady in red" I met my husband
But today especially close to my heart is another one " Lebenese nights"
Just a few days ago my best friend who lives from some time abroad send me some message that he came back to Beirut for few days but he had such a bad luck - the war began there, so now I dont know if he survive this terrible crime, he is also here on your visitor lists, he is also your fan, he is a wonderful one peacful man I'd be so happy if you write some new song for all these innocent people trapped there on this meaningless war to let this world strong voice how it's bad and without any sense this fight. We all should love each other and I dont know any other man who wants peace so much then this one Lebanese Omar - your fun too I wish he could be safe soon.
For now thank you to make this world more beautiful by your great art which brings love to our hearts.
Bye bye

just a few words to say hello again to everybody from the mailinglist and of course to you Chris. We miss you here in Germany. I´d love to hear from you again Chris.

First I would like to say:
Congratulations, Rosanna, on the excellent results you have achieved in your final exams at university – and good luck with the career steps you decide to take next!
Dear Chris,
the World Cup season with its exciting matches and colourful parties had a good side effect on the wait for the Storyman: A whole month of it was just zooming past!
Now the hardest part has begun, the ‚finishing straight’ – the Storyman in sight yet, but still out of reach. Cannot wait to hear his tales, melodies and sounds (more hints, please;-)!)!
I am also very much looking forward to seeing you in concert again! The first I attended was in January 1981, since then: many...And I hope for many more to come...
Big thanks for ‚everything’ (in order to avoid a long list)
with love from

Now the site does not open anymore and I miss it so. Why did you go away from myspace? You are nomore to find there with these four songs. I enjoyed it every evening to hear the song "You look beautiful". Can you bring this site back? That would be wonderful for us "survivers from the sea, just you and me". I'm bussy in writing on a new story with a new book how to write stories. Maybe I'll learn it to write in your language.
If you can, please mail me what's up with this wonderful music-site and bring it back again.
I miss your voice on my little laptop, Chris, even now

Dear Chris,
I have just found this wonderful article about you, your forthcoming concerts (in November and December) and Germany...:
CHRIS DE BURGH - We belong together
Chris de Burgh connects with Germany an uncredibly strong/profound, long and unshakeable affection...
Sorry - I give up because of my poor English and pressure of time. (Maybe Astrid can translate it for you and others?) So here it is - the article in German:
Love you, Gerlinde :-)

Querido Chris:
Gaby

Dear Chris,
All your songs are a masterpiece and your lyrics warm up the most frozen hearts around the world.
Songs that I hear with my eyes closed and memories that flash by take me through the tunnel of life to date.
Thanks for all that is De Burgh

Dear Chris,
For 13 years, since I was 15 I have had the absolute pleasure of listening to your music. Each time my father and I went on a long car journey it was made so very pleasurable when he played your CD (back then it was a tape). Unfortunately my father was too ill and unable to attend your concert here this year, but the rest of my family did. You touched are hearts and souls with your amazing songs, songs that mean so very much to my father and I. I wanted to thank you for the musical joy you have given us for many years and especially the memories on those long trips. Fathers and sons share many bonds, but to me you have provided a musical bond that I will forever be in debt to you for.
Chris, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the pleasure you have given so many people. Your music is inspirational and real. I look forward to your return to Melbourne, hopefully not too far away!

Hi Chris,
I love your music. I find it extremely touching and soothing.
I heard you for the 1st time when "Don't Pay the Ferryman" came out. I was blown away with this awesome song. Since then, I have purchased 3 CDs and looking into purchasing more. I have not heard one "so so" song yet. They are all good.
I feel that you have a great voice and a wonderful songwriting/storytelling abiliy. I see the story when I hear your songs.
Thank you so much,
Pam

Dear Chris,
today I have finished the book "A Farewell to Arms". It was a wonderful time to read about him and Cathrine Barkley the last month in the little cafe of the Italians. I don't know why he came near to me this day to ask how much sides I have to read today, but I think he came just in the nick of time. The end was so awefully sad and I had to fight against my tears for a moment in the public there. What a luck, that I have found this Italian man whom I could tell about this book till the end of the story. You know the end. It is so sad Chris! I hope my mind will never combine the song "It's me" with this book. But I think, when I hear "Say goodbye to it all" I will remember this story of Hemmingway, told from you.
I hope one day I can read a next answer from you to me in MOTL again.
Thank you for a wonderful English reading time!
Monika

Dear Chris,
A strange incident happened to me last Autumn. (In fact, you may think that I am strange or even crazy because of it, but I swear to you it's the truth.) As I was sitting on my sofa in the living room one early evening, I happened to pick up your "Beautiful Dreams" CD, which was laying on the end table next to me. I started to read the title: Chris Deburgh - "Beautiful Dreams," and just as I finished reading it, I heard footsteps come running up my front porch steps and some man's voice yell out "By the door."
Really strange occurance, wouldn't you say? I believe that there is some sort of synchronicity going thru this world. Which may have explained this. Another way I look at it is that some sort of Higher Power had something to do with it. Maybe it was trying to say there is some sort of connection between you and me, as I believe you have a special connection with all your fans. After this incident occurred, I immediatly thought of your CD titled, "Timing Is Everything."
All in all, it seems like quite a coincidence, doesn't it?
Fondly,
Renae Dewji

Dear Chris,
you are the reason..... why we spend a wonderful day together. We got to know 2 years ago through your guestbook, and today I visited Nicole in Eisenberg during our holidays, just in time to read your MotL-answer to my question.
We can't wait to see you in November. By the way, we are two of that kind of people, who rush to buy tickets at the moment they go on sale (at midnight via the internet)!
Love,

Chris,
Just wanted to say, I think it's a little sad that you can't seem to open your mouth without someone analyzing what you have to say to such an extreme degree.
You have always seemed like a very thoughtful and conscious person-concerned about what happens in all parts of the world and with all people. Blessings to you for that.
Being as I live in Belfast, well, I guess that gives me the right to have an opinion about the IRA and "all things Irish", but I’m also not afraid to engage in discussions about issues that effect people from others parts of the world as well, because I care enough to be informed.
Hey, as long as you speak the truth as you know it, keep on talking, man, and singing!
Slainte!
Ardan

I first heard Chris singing 'In a Country Churchyard' whilst doing keep fit in a village hall. The tape was playing on a very tinny portable and when I asked the keep fit leader after class who it was singing I thought she said Christa Burgh! So for a few weeks I was looking for recordings by a girl! So sorry Chris!
Have been a fan ever since and now my daughter is (probably a greater) fan! We both have birthdays in November and are going to the NEC on the 18th! Looking forward to seeing the band again and hearing the new songs (sorry - stories!).

Dear Chris,
many thanks from here a bit unhappy Germany now, because we lost the match between Italy and Germany at the end with 0:2. But really Italy was great! And you know the mountains and the sea from Italy we like to enjoy too, so we are not very bad about our Italian friends, especially mine in the little cafe, where I can read in "A farewell to Arms" every sunday with a cappuccino, what makes me happy. I know you like Germany and we are waiting till you arrive again!!!!!
With my small English knowledge I could not understand all the degrees which Rosanna has now, but it seems to be great and I want to congratulate her. Degree in Sociology and History of Art, as I understood and something like a Stipendium for four years. She is a fine young woman Chris to work so much as her father does it and you can be happy at all.
Greetings from Germany

Hi Chris and all the germans supporters
Tonight was a cruel match and a hard one but during a game there is always a winner and it was Italy.
I'm sad like all the germans to have seen a good team with so much supporters in the german streets the last few days, to loose the match.
But the german team and all the country must say THANK YOU to this team to have bring a big part of dream to a complete united nation, it's always wonderful.
Now the Italy will maybe play with France or Portugal and maybe my own country can loose the same but at the end of the competition these four last country can be very proud of them.
We call that the fair play and during this world cup it was nice to see this so well done.
Now good luck for the two next finalists
Laurent

Hi Chris,
I'm very pleased that you've had some time to answer questions for MOtL !! Mornings haven't been the same for months LOL!
Hope that means that you're able to relax a bit now and that most of the work for 'The Storyman ' - your part at least - has been put to bed?
Hope that your solo gig goes well in Athens this month. Far too hot for me in Greece this time of year. England is plenty hot enough - at present that is!
Time is moving on - really not that long until your rehearsals and the warm up gig in Killarney!! :-))
See you soon!

As a Canadian and living in Canda I would travel between Ottawa and Montreal to see your concerts. Now I live in Australia and have not seen a concert in over 10 years. I miss seeing them and hope you will be making another tour down under as I did not know about the one in Melbourne until it was too late.
Listening to your music brings back some marvelous memories and I thank you for that.
