Saw Chris in concert in Germany (Stuttgart, I think), probably 1983 or 1984 -- part of a big music festival that included Gary Moore, Nena, Men at Work, Loverboy and maybe some others. As I recall Chris closed the festival, playing in the rain, but he was great. Not too many people here in the U-S know he has done a lot more than "Lady in Red", and what a great story teller he is.

Dear Chris,
Though I don't want to nerve, may I tell you about the World Cup one more time?
Australia vs Italy: The down under team did such a good job. Do you agree with?
In Öhringen, the home base of the socceroos, our dream is over now. But it was a great honour and joy to know that they were with us. The whole region enjoyed it very much.
Maybe Australia lost vs Italy but be sure the socceroos are the winner of my/our heart/s. I am sooooo sad (could not even sleep last night), but at the same time I must say that I'm also very proud of Guus Hiddink's heroes. They must have felt our affection. I only wish that the socceroos are very welcomed at home. There is nothing more I can do. We miss the guys, their spirit and their influence here... Thank you and goodbye socceroos.
I think football/soccer will awake to new life in Australia. And Italy will lose - sooner or later!
Dear Chris, perhaps you should consider/decide to return to Germany soon. The last time I could attend a wonderful concert - it is nearly one year ago. It seems that I become an unfaithful Chris de Burgh fan. Imagine - I do already wear a yellow socceroos T-Shirt.
Love you, Gerlinde
P.S. Greetings to Des in Sydney. I'm so glad to "know" him. :-)

Hi Chris
I hope that you will be soon less busier than the last 3 months, because of the preparation of the storyman project.
But the times it takes show that of course it will be a wonderful album and a fantastic tour that we are all waiting for with emotion !
I hope that you will find the time this summer for few weeks of holidays.
In anyway as some members said we are waiting for comments of you about first the world cup, and about the progress of your project.
Of course we are waiting for Motl also but we know that it must don't be easy when your planning is busy to do that.
Hope to see you back soon on the site
All the best

Hi Chris,
just dropping by to say a big 'hello' to you from Greece !! Yes we are here
in Greece for a weeks holiday, on the Island of Zakynthos (Zante) where the
temperature is 35C + !!!! Its kind of very very hot !!!! Luckily our hotel
room has air conditioning in :-) This lunchtime, I got a little worried as
I think I have an unwanted admirer !!!! We were in the beach bar for a
lunchtime snack and drink and we also saw the old man there, that sells the
sunbeds on the beach everyday. Well when Stewart had gone off to the loo,
he went to the bar and came back with 2 beers for us !! I guess he does not
speak any english apart from asking 6 Euros each day for the beach loungers
!!! Well he walked across to me and gave me the drinks with a great big
smile on his face and just kept grinning like a chesire cat and pointing to the drink and then to him !!! When we left the bar, I went up again and said a big thank you and he just shook Stewarts hand, then I went to skake his hand as well, but he grabbed me and with a big smile he pulled me close into him and gave me a big smile and kiss and said 'see you tommorrow' !!!!! I can tell you I got out of that bar quite quickly ;-) Tomorrow actually we are going on a boat trip and then on Friday we travel by boat again to see the Island of Kefalonia.
Unfortunatly our trip to Greece is one month too early, as we now know
that you will be in Athens in July !! so rest assured you will not see me
popping up there to surprise you, as I will be hard at work then :-((
love and hugs as ever,

Dear Chris,
Here in Germany is such a fantastic and exciting atmosphere because of the World Cup. I think the football fever has hit our whole country. Can you imagine?
And I just let you know that Öhringen, my little home town in the south of Germany, is the host of the Australian Socceroos.
And what happened on Tuesday? The Socceroos did a public training. Therefore 2500 Socceroos fans arrived here and changed Öhringen into a tourist town. It was such a joy and pleasure for me to watch the Australian fans passing Öhringen's "Oberes Tor" (= a gate = in fact it is a mini-Brandenburger Tor). 'Though I'm really good at nothing I try to describe what was going on:
I saw a lot of English spoken people - of course all in yellow, wearing yellow caps, hats, scarves... a few carried the Australian flag over their shoulders... and not to forget the kangaroos... Unfortunately I had no camera with me :-(
On Thursday my heart will beat again for the Australian Socceroos, because I don't want to see them already go/leave - we still need them here.
Enjoy the World Cup and please take care.
Love and missing you, Gerlinde
P.S. ...hope that you will receive my holiday and soccer postcards ... and sorry my English.

Dear Chris,
I don*t want to waste your time with writing a lot here, but there is one thing I want to share with you. The Word-Cup football games. So I cannot hold on me to tell you that the English were much better tonight against the Swedish, 2:2, and the Germans won against Equador 3:0 in the afternoon. If you have time can you leave a little message in your MOTL-site about what you liked the most in the World-Cup? I am totally happy about the Argentinians in this World-Cup till today and I hope they will be in the last games too. Chris, I'm just thinking about this guestbook and your website "Words are real love and emotion with sight and touch...". Really it is very nice from you that you let me see you in photos and words on your website whenever I think of you. It looks like a phoneline or a post-office, where I can reach you during the year, when you are in Ireland or abroad, when it is really true what the seller of the CD's and T-shirts told me, that you are often reading in your guestbook. Did he mean your website-guestbook?
And I hope you are not bad about it, that we are in contact in this way. That is a internet-line around the world. I am missing the MOTL-site. You did not write for a long, long time.
Do you think we could have time to talk a little bit together, when we meet us in the German concerts this year? That would be very nice from you to give me the chance to speak with you in reality.
And please don't forget. You always have the possibility to send me an e-mail, if you want to answer me this way or to send me a letter.
Still thinking of you
Monika

Dear Chris,
Another letter has gone off for you
I'm sorry, in fact this time it just grew and grew
it's really a long one, I can't help it
hopefully your time away won't be melted
maybe already make an appointment to read
with any luck with your busy time you will meet
much love and affection I invested
hopefully in reading you will be interested
all I can do is actually just pray
that my letter to your home will find it's way
you know, to me this is absolutely vital
because I regard you as a friend, not my idol
so much I love you
in fact, oh yes I do
it's unnecessary to write
but it's just so right ...
Take care!

Hi Chris,
Susie,(my wife) and I have been fans of yours for years, going to your shows, loving your songs etc. In fact when Susie and I first met it was her that introduced me to your way with music. Wherever we go, we always carry a selection of cd's from you. Susie is approuching her 60th birthday 0n 23 Dec this year. Is there a way you could send her an e-mail? It would mean so much to her if you could. I also know you are very busy with the gigs and plans for the future so if you carn't, I will understand. But if you could send a short message..... I would keep it until her birthday and you would make it so special. In a way your songs have helped us through thick and thin, and when times have been hard and happy. allthe best, Mick

HELLO Chris,
me and my family just arrived at home. We've been on our holliday in Spain, at the 'Costa de la Luz', the Light-coast. As you surely know, the river Guadalquivir flows there into the Atlantic. I saw that famous Guadalquivir and I rememberd your song 'Spanish Train'. We went to Sevilla, too. Saw all the important places and monuments and all that day, you stood with us, like that Story-teller that you are.
I will always combine that visit with your company. By the way, you stay with us, with me, every day, because you give a stamp to everybody who takes the time to listen, really listen to your thoughts.
Take care, Andrea.

Hello Chris de Burgh,
I'm just lonesome sitting at my laptop got after the man in "The Black Truck", like you can read now in my homepage, like I can read in your's. I have half of "A Farewell to Arms" now, mostly sitting in a small italian cafe in my birthtown on sunday evening. The Italians are interested there in what I am reading. Today we localized the place where the troups are standing now in the book. It is near Triest and there are words in this book, which an Italien man had never seen before and which I could not find in my dictionary. If I could ask you now over a phoneline, I think I would try to call you. But that is not possible. Instead of it I got people from the "Chatting in the IRC" in my msn, but not you. Chris, what are you doing with your own computer or notebook, that you are never reachable? I have the idea the song you mentioned else in your answer is meant in relationship to Mrs. Cathrine Barkley in this book. Can this be? Or is it more, that Hemmingway tried to say goodbye to the war and weapons of war? You see, I could not find it out till now. I don*t know all the English words, but it is possible to follow the story now. You are an excellent English teacher with your website. I have never had so much English like with you every day! And this little laptop here has always a surprise inside. The best surprise the last days had been a link to four songs or you in myspace.com. That is where I heard your song "You look beautiful" the first time in my life. I took it to my homepage to find it easier, when I want to hear it again. It brought me a very nice night. I'm just wondering, I'm sitting more in front of my screen with your face looking to me, than going to sleep in the night! That brings a kind of feeling, which I never had before. Just living with a musician in my room! It's going to be normal to see, read and hear you every day. Mhm, I would like to know, what you are thinking about this, but we have no way to talk together. That had the man in the black truck forgotten to tell me.
Greetings to you there over the ocean
from
