Hello Chris. I was at your concert back in November in St. John's at the Mile One Stadium, and I enjoyed every minute of it. One of my favorite parts of that night was when you walked around the audience, and I got to shake your hand. The other favorite part was when you invited your fans to be out on the floor in front of the stage, and I was the first one to be up, and everyone else was still seated, so you said "Look right here" to show everyone that I was up.

Well Chris, I wish you all the best. God bless.

Hello my dear Chris,

I am having MOtL withdrawals. I sigh in sadness every time I see March 20 once again! I understand, you are busy working on your Storyman project. And, of course, that's what we want you to do is continue creating things for us to listen to. I still lament your absence just the same. Forgive me. Okay, I am melodramatic because I had a couple glasses of wine this evening. In that vein, I must share. I am 36 now, but back when I was 15 I wrote this sonnet with you or someone who could be like you in mind. Here goes, from the dusty closets of my days past of which you are imprinted on...

His love does light the night with a passion,
When a New Moon does shine in the bright sky,
About his sweet words he has a fashion,
And never in one does there appear a lie

He whispers in the night sweet melodies which are carried by the wind to the sea,
To a cold, troubled heart they will appease,
Like by firelight when he sang to me

When the world in chaos does spin around,
His deep eyes are filled with understanding,
It seems he stops time for love to be found,
And for life a little time for landing

His loving ways will always light my fire,
Along with his mystical desire.

The End. Well, I hope I amuse some of you at least with my ramblings even if Chris' eyes don't happen upon this message. Love to you Chris and all out there!

Heather

Hi friends ,

I am just a man in this huge world,
I think wild world , and I think it
is very bad and ugly , but there is
one window that I can see sun when I
look at there , and that window is art
and I think Chris is a real artist , he
compose , writes and play songs and sing as the sound of nature , sound of love, I think He is messenger of love
and peace and freedom ,
We Love You Chris Always For ever ...

Hi Chris.
At last I've just found your website and I'm so glad I did.
I've been listening your music since lately 70's. Specially that song on "Far Beyond These Castle Walls" called "Flying".
I'd never knew it was in that album, so I've been searching for it for the past 5 years.
Then I listened the album "Crusader" and I thought "This guy should be God or something"
Thanks for your music and keep up good working.
I hope someday you'll come to Mexico for a concert. I wouldn't miss it.
Best regards
Javier

Hi everybody. I listen to Chris' music since 1982. Have one of his old long-playing record "Far beyond these castle walls" from the 70's. Still need, love and appreciate his true honest songs about all the themes he writes and sings.
Can only hope he'll continue for many years.

Thanks a lot for giving the chance to write my comment.

Hi Mr Music Man: I have returned from our holidays with the friend that you know, too. When we returned yesterday, Chris took out her CD player and listened to your voice. She says she loves that one song about stranger trains. I don't know what that is, but maybe I also spied that out wrongly - you know, I simply wasn't allowed to put my ear close to hers, thus giving her a really huge kiss across her nose - something she hates. So why, I wonder, are trains strangers, when they all look alike? And then there's one other song about a Spain train, but that's even more difficult to understand. Folks playing cards on a train - I've never seen that! They only eat or drink and never share with me, they talk or listen to music or sleep or read. I myself have just come to the conclusion that I should sniff you out one day and see what's so fascinating about you - you're a mystery to me already. Cheers and woofs, Hapoo.

If jealousy is a sin then I am one big fat sinner and will go straight to hell.I am jealous of all the lucky people (including my parents) who have managed to see you in concert. I have been a fan forever (could not have got through boarding school without you) First I knew you came to Perth years ago I lived 2000 miles away and could not get time off work, second time I was over in Europe. I go to Switzerland, you go there later. We go to New Zealand in Dec you go a couple of months later. Could not get time off work for Melbourne.I hope you are one of these artists who tours until their golden years as it will probably take me that long to see you live. One thing keeps me going,I know it will be worth it when I get there !! Please come back down under soon (that is down under and across the country)Thanks for the stories. luck and laughter Nett

Hi Chris,
Liverpool 2 Chelsea 1 :-) in the FA cup semi final !! I bet you were sitting on the edge of your seat for the last 20 minutes or so......just like Stewart and myself !! Despite some very 'iffy' decisions from the referee for both teams, the 'reds' still managed to win through in the end!! But what a tense 2nd half ! I think I have a few more grey hairs now !!

Dear Chris,

I dropped a tear in the ocean, the day you find it is the day I will stop missing you.

Happy Birthday to Rosanna! And also belated best wishes to your son who became eighteen on March 29th. Now we have been and will be at the same age until 27th of April, exactly ten days after your daughter...

Missing someone gets easier every day because even though it's one day further from the last time you saw each other, it's one day closer to the next time you will. I hope this very next time will be quite soon, maybe June, July. Actually what is a summer without you? In fact I know it’s not easy for you because every fan wants you to come and each one lives in a different city, even different country. You poor Chris simply just can’t be everywhere and therefore cannot please everybody...
Concerning Germany, we could divide it into three parts, then you could give a concert in the middle of each part, so that everyone will be able to make it to the event. Totally uncomplicated you could do solo shows in small areas, you would be not dependent and you just could come to sing a “little bit” which you do enjoy anyway. Well, if it only would be such simple, right? ;-)
You could sing in the area around preferably Munich, or to be perfectly fair, maybe around Nürnberg, for it’s more in the middle, around Köln and Berlin. Because you are so busy and you certainly might not want to give too many concerts you would have to sing just three times in this case...

You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.
- Kahil Gibran -

Clearly you have been giving us your songs and more! Kindness is a language the blind can see and the deaf can hear...

With love and respect,
Yours,
Julia (18) from Germany

A hundred hearts would be too few, to carry all my love for you... If I had a single flower for every time I think about you, I could walk forever in my garden.

P.S.: Fortunately finally I got it over me, my four wisdom teeth, which had been still in my jaw, are cut out now. I nearly died because of fear. The doctor said I should think of something nice and pleasant, I thought of you, of the concert last year, when I gave you my picture... Then I already drifted off and didn’t notice anything anymore – luckily.

Dear Chris

I watched "The Road to Freedom" DVD and the interview on it (I like the part where you iron your shirt :))) ) and you were saying there that you would stop writing and singing when people will no longer be intrested but for now they are and that you check your site and find so many wonderful responses to your music. Then I read on the MotL how important the opinions of those who listen to your music are to you. So I just thought of making my feelings known once again and here they are:
Your music is amazing and riveting and I (along with many many many others) love it! So don't ever stop writing and singing you're doing an absolutely great job! And now all that I'm writing sonds so plain in comparison to what I want to express...the more reason to admire you for the emotion you are able to convey to your songs.

Oh and by the way, aside from my etarnal praise and admiration, I wish you HAPPY EASTER! :))) Hope you're not to busy to enjoy that "spring is here and turtle doves are singing" :))) Good luck with the egg-cracking!

Oh now would be a really good time to listen to "The girl with april in her eyes" (I'm born on the 28 of april so I'm particularly fond of that song :)) I think it's time to leave some space for others to express themselves now... :)

Looking forward to the "Storyman" and take care of your voice we still need it for a long time to come :))

Eva

Hello Mr Music Man:
Chris says it's Eastern Western soon, but we won't be there to wish you a happy load of that - whatever that is. Chris says kids go egg hunting... and me? Can I go squirrel hunting? Chris says you even have an Eastern song, but that name's too complicated for me to remember. So if you celebrate this orientational chalenge of going Eastern Western at the same time, I wish you luck, joy and four paws to master this very important skill. While you are doing that, Chris and I are going to see the friend without a dog but with a Hapoo blanket. And I'm sure we're going to have a really cool time! Woofs, wags, tons of kisses, Hapoo.

Dear Chris,
thanks for sharing "A Farewell to Arms" with me. I've just began to read it in English and I like it very much, that you told me from this book. That the song "Say goodbye to it all" has nothing to do with hospitals of today is good. I will see wether I find some parts of that book in your song. It is still to early to know it at the beginning.
Bye the way my first stories are written now. Becuase you are always mentioned in these stories, which I really like to write in this year, I hope you can read them with your computer, when you open my website. Maybe I am a dreamer, who wants to tell you something more at the other side of the world, you understand. But it is so wonderful that I got you in my life in Lyrics, in concerts and in words, that I want to share these dreams and stories with you in writing and reading, if possible.
It is a long letter today and I hope they let it through to you this month.
I wish you a wonderful day
Monika

I just want to say that I love your music and it means a lot to me, your lyrics are emotional and address some important issues or topics like in my favorite song titled "This song for you" I have never heard anybody sing about that topic before. I know that you came to London Ontario before but I wasnt able to attend, so I REALLY, REALLY, hope that you come back again sometime.

Hi Chris!

I was surprised to see that you recently visited Oz! Didn't see much in the papers etc. But why only one show and why only Melbourne!

Look there's a lot of rivalry between Sydney & Melbourne and you were probably told that Melbourne's the cultural heartbeat of Oz but don't believe it!!!

Apart from a VERY large Irish contingent, you have lots of fans here. We'd love to see more of you...

I love your music and even sing it (but only by myself; my voice is not great). You manage to capture the essence of emotion in melody and lyrics.

Thanks

It brought back wonderful memories of Toronto - seeing you at Maple Leaf Gardens two times - and Sheila having served you at her place of employ - The Toy Shoppe - where you and your wife bought some things the day of your show - she still talks of how nice you guys were - DS

Dear Mr. de Burgh,

Your music has been a gift to our family. I had a baby boy 5 weeks ago and each evening he has his fussy time. We had tried so many things to help him fall asleep and one night I put on one of your CD's, he stopped crying instantly. Each night since then he has been aided into his journey of sleep by "Don't pay the ferry man". I have tried music from many other artists and he will just keep on crying until he hears your voice singing to him.
He, Levi, is his father's son. My husband has been a long time fan since hearing your music while traveling in Norway. He is not a man who enjoys concerts but he has always said "Chris de Burgh is one musician I would like to see in concert." So...... Last year, for his birthday, I bought him and his best friend tickets to your November concert in Toronto. They have now decided to make a second annual trip to see you in concert this coming Nov. in Burmingham, England. There has also been some discussion about where to go see you next year. Who knows?
Thank-you for your gift of bringing my son to dreamland and bringing best friends together two years in a row. sincerely, Kathy Reimer

Through your music I have corresponded with some wonderful people. I have also converted some who, at first thought you were dated. But after listening to some of your music, other than THE LADY IN RED, they were sold.
It so annoys me when Radio stations only play the one song.
I have moved from England to Florida, USA and would like to know when you plan to do a tour here. At your last concert at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester England, I told you I was moving to the states and asked if you planned to tour there. I believe you said"Not while the hurricanes are on'. Well Chris, you have many fans here, and we would love to see you. I will watch your tour dates with eagerness.

Hi once again, Mr Music Man:
No more Shadow - he's gone back over the water where I have never been. Don't you sing somewhere "...I will walk with your Shadow...?" That sure means you are over the water with him and can tell Chris all about him - and that'd make her happy I'm sure!
But on another note: Chris says you like football. She has left me at sister's house because she went to watch football. She says she had audio description - doesn't sound like food, but Chris said it was the funnest thing ever! There is a huge football thing coming up over here, so maybe you could stop by and say hi to Chris and give me a pet and a treat or two?
Besides, it looks like this crazy girl won't stop listening to your voice... you'll have to solve that mystery in a woofer's brain The English side has won their football, so I guess I'll go into my Hapoo house and sleep. Goodnight, Hapoo.

Dear Chris,

well, it's April. I wish you a lot of strength and all the best for the work in your recording studio. Again - I will think of you (the freedom of thoughts).

Love and hugs, Gerlinde

P.S. There is one great news to tell you. From south to north... the swallows are back. I'm indescribably proud of them.

Hello Chris! You are amazying, I love listening to yuor songs, and I`ve got all my friends and family to listen too. I wish to attend your conserts again, but you dont often come to Norway. I saw you in Mysen last summer it was great, and I was there in Oslo when you played with the philharmonica orchestra several years ago. But I wish I could se you with your band playing Revolution among others. I hope I manage to get to Berlin in the end of November, and that it vill be possible to buy tickets in May. But they are sold out by than i`m afraid. Do you have plans for visiting Norway again? I hope so, thank you for making the wourld a better place. Have nice days, lots of love and happy thoughts from Line.
