Hi Chris,
I have just returned from a trip to Melbourne to see you in concert. I have to say it was absolutely fantastic - worth every cent, including the getting up at midnight to log on for tickets (I got front row)! This is the 4th one of your concerts I have been to and I think it was your best. I think it was also the best birthday present I have ever received.
However, you didn't play my favourite song, "There's Room in this Heart Tonight" so I expect you to come back to Australia soon (preferably to Perth) and do it all again!
Regards, Rosemary

Chris,
What can I say? This is the 4th time we have seen you in Australia. twice in Brisbane, then we had to drive to Sydney. This time we had to fly to Melbourne (from Bris). It was worth every cent, the air fares, the hotel and the tickets.
You brought the house down, 2hours 40 mins (my rough guess) not many entertainers can hold an audience for over 2 hours with a guitar, a piano and a microphone singing their own material. You are amazing, you brought back so many memories from albums we have had for 20 years or more and right up to the latest release "Road To Freedom".
We celebrated 24 years married life on the day (27 Feb 06) in Melbourne, your music has filled our homes, our work places and our lives.
Thank You for coming back to Australia, thank you for a magical night, thank you for taking the time to sign our CD's as you were leaving the venue.
Dont wait so long to come back, your always welcome.

You were brilliant at the Mission Concert last night in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. Thank you for giving us a magical concert, particularly as 95% of people in the vast audience only knew your one famous song. By the end of your show everyone was dancing, singing and clapping. Chris,
It has been many years since we enjoyed your live music here in SA or Cape Town in particular. The last was at Spier Estate near Stellenbosch - a fantastic concert.
What are the possibilities of a follow-up tour to SA, including Cape Town in the near future???
Please, please, it would be wonderful to welcome you back to the most beautiful city in the world!!!!!!
Here's hoping,

Hi Chris!
Even though I'm a fan from a long time ago(1983), I think I'm a new name for you on this website. You had responded to my comment about Paul being AD and not BC. :) I had a dream last night that my sister and I and other fans were hanging out at your house and I thought, "Wow! I actually have met him!" Allright, I'm jealous of all the fans in Europe who seem to know you on a first name basis! I admit it! I just want to say I hope your Storyman project is going well and I miss your MOtL presence, but it was a lovely message on the 20th. You do care about your fans as we do you! At a Borders in NYC I know your new album sold and they have new ones in its place! I played your new album at my Bible study group while we ate dinner and somebody said, "Oh, what's this? I like it. Eric always makes us listen to classical." And I said, "Oh, that's my Chris de Burgh!" I really hope you come to Canada with Storyman since that's the closest you come to me. My goal is next time you are there I'm making the trip! I've gone on long enough. Come back soon!!
Love, Heather Helton

HI Chris,
I´m not sure if you read these messages or not, but I was just reading thru some of the posts you got and boy your a lucky guy! Your blessed with talent, you´re a very wealthy man, you´ve got respect in society and your daughter was "Miss World" for Ireland!Finaly, us the fans love you!
I actually wrote a message a few days ago with a bottle of wine, I couldn´t believe the spellings mistakes I made, as I just looked at it again!
Anyway, all the very best for your tour in Aussie. When you get back home to Ireland start write another classic album , please!
I´m from the ol´school and I just simply loved all those albums from "Beyond these castle walls" to "High in emotion- live from Dublin". My favourite is "Spanish train and other stories". I always play "old friend" when I catch up with an ol´ buddy in Dublin. That song sums our relationship up, although we don´t drink wine we simply go for the "liffey water" instead.
Well Chris, all the very best. You have touched a lot of people with your music and that you must surely be proud of.
All the best from Seville, Spain,a humbled fan, Johnny "B" Good!

Dear Chris,
In fact I don’t know whether I should tell you, don’t know if it does interest you at all. You know, I don’t want to get a nuisance to you...
Well, my wisdom teeth operation had to be cancelled and postponed, for I have had a flu with being sick and having diarrhoea. As I told you already so much about this very topic in my last (handwritten) letter, I just wanted to let you know it won’t be before April now. (so still enough time for you to think it over and come to hold my hand during anaesthesia ;-).)
On the other hand if you still haven’t got my letter, don’t rack your brains :), just forget this message for the time being.
I would give anything to get hugged from you right now...
Sweet dreams,
Yours Julia (18)

Dear Chris,
It’s always with great interest that I read the MOTHL section, with constant amazement that I soak into the magic world of your albums – older and more recent – and with tremendous excitement that I attend your live shows. Let alone the sheer pleasure and honour of having met you occasionally in Athens/Greece, Great Britain and Germany in the last 12 years. Having been a restless traveller on the road to freedom paved by your incredible work since 1983, I can only say: “THANK YOU for the music - your songs are long-life companions and your voice is a good friend. THANK you also for being so unassuming and thoughtful towards your fans as to let us get in touch with you personally and communicate our questions, thoughts, feelings, comments etc. Therefore, please allow me to convey a message from your Mediterranean fans: we’ve been missing you, more than words can say, here in Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Lebanon, Malta and we’d be grateful if you’d consider visit our countries not only on vacation (I’m glad you liked Patmos island), but on tour as well. I understand, as you yourself have stated in the past, that the performances you’ve given in Greece (Athens & Salonica), Turkey and Beirut are rated among your very special ones.
By the way, the theatre in Ephesus/Turkey is indeed ancient as the homonymous town was colonized by the ancient Greek tribe of Ions around the end of 2000 B.C! St. Paul, however, who is regarded as equal among the 12 Disciples of Jesus, spoke of the “new” at the time religion i.e Christianity in A.D. 54. Some time between A.D 50-54 he introduced Christianity to the citizens of Athens, right at the feet of Acropolis, thus establishing one of the first Orthodox Christian Churches.
And now to my questions:
a) Have you composed any other instrumental pieces besides the magnificent “When Winter comes” (which I just adore listening to and playing on the piano) that you wish to record in the future?
b) The intro synthesizer solo of “Don’t pay the ferryman” was it your idea or Rupert Hine’s? It’ really inspiring!
With many thanks again for EVERYTHING and with the warmest regards, right from the… ferryman’s country itself!!!
Dimitra
P.S:I can't copy/paste the above text in the field of the question on the MOtL.
Can anyone help?

Hi Chris,
I´ve just recently checked your music out again. I was a fan for years, from "Beyound these castle walls" up to the "High in emotion" live album from Dublin. Now, due to the internet and me finally settling down in one place, I´ve got to know your music again. All those classics from "Lonely Sky", "Satin Green Shutters","The Crusader" the very rauchy "Patricia The Stripper", "Borderline", and many, many more.
I always believed your best era was the 70s to the mid 80s (before "The Lady In Red" era),it´s all a matter of opionin though. My favourite? Since I´ve been living in Seville for the past four years it has to be "Spanish Train". I always love that song and now it has taken on a new meaning altogether. I often walk by the ".....Guadalquivir and old Seville....." and that song always comes to mind.
Chris, you´ve been blessed with a special gift of words and music that has lasted a genoration. Good luck with more and the very best. All the best, Johnny "B" Good.

Hi there, Chris.
I became a fan of your music back in, let's see, 1980? Your music has been a tremendous inspiration for me.
I am a guitar player and your music has taught me the importance of strong melodies. I only wish I could write lyrics... however, I can't! So I have to express feelings through my guitar instead. Hence the impotrance of melody...
I met my wife Siri in 1986 and 'The Lady In Red' became "our" tune. She had been a fan of yours long before she met me. Our two boys Magnus (6) and Kevin (5) like to listen to your CD in the car.
Hope to hear much, much more music from you in the future, Chris. A heartfelt THANK YOU from us here in Norway.

Dear Chris,
what a surprise that Chris Williams has sent me a DVD about your "Songs of Praise" with all the places where you have been at school and this cathedral and the helicopter you can fly. It will bring some wonderful evenings to me to listen to you again at home. It is my fist DVD I can see on my laptop filled with you!
Sometimes some words in songs of you are toughing me in a special way. I am just writing my first stories in English about it. And some nights I can see you stepping through my dreams, really I can see you there. It is a little bit funny and I am writing this stories down too, because I like to dream such dreams seeing friends again. If you want, you can look into my homepage and read a little bit in it, when you want to relax for a while. If you find something in for which you would like kidding me, don*t hesitate to do it in my Gästebuch. If you want ask me something you can do it there too.
Good luck for New Zealand, Dubai and Australia. Your eyes can see in this world now what mine never have seen.
with love

Dear Chris
i am writing on behalf of my mother Jenny who is a huge fan of you. She's seen you three times in concert and i've seen you once when you visited the Cardiff NEC, Wales, United Kingdom.
i just want to thank you for your music as its helping my mother through her life as she suffers with a rare kidney disease and has already lost her right kidney and will need a transplant soon for her left kidney. while only having two days to live in 1997 when she lost he first kidney the doctors played your album to her while operating and doctors believed it kept her alive. We took her to see you about a year afterwards in cardiff Wales UK which made her dream come true. She suffered two strokes in April 2003 when her mother died and played your music non stop while being told to relax. if it wasnt for you and your music i believe she might not have survived the disease and i'm so very grateful that she had your music to listen to you. This year dispite doctors telling her no she had a tattoo on her arm of a rose with C de B underneath as you are her favourite man in her life. With your music and concerts you have put so much hope in to her life and she is a very big fan. we are hoping to get tickets to your only UK concert in Birmingham on the 18th November 2006.
thank you Chris. i wish you the very best in 2006 andn once again thank you

Hi Chris, you have always been so respected in Montreal. I read that you were a big fan of Pete Ham of Badfinger as I am. I hear you sometimes sing "Without You." Great song. I was sorry to hear of Mike gibbins passing. Chris could you possibly send me a signed photo. I would greatly appreciate it. I hope you and your family are well. Please come back to Montreal.
Sincerly,

Chris, "Crusader" is still one of the finest albums ever recorded! A big influence on my songwriting. Thanks for the years of inspiration... Fran.

Hello. I have been a CdeB fan for over 20 years. I like he is an amazing song writer and story teller. I find incredible feeling and emotion in his lyrics. I can relate to some much of his work. Is he coming to Hamilton Ontario Canada in the near future?
A loyal fan

Hi Chris,
it was nice to start the morning off today by watching 'Celebrity Snappers' on Living TV, in which there was a small section abut a photo shoot you done in Henley On Thames last year....for the BBC. It was a promotional shoot for the 'Down To Earth' show that you starred in, in a cameo role last year...as i'm sure you will of course remember !!!
It was funny when they showed where the 'shoot' was being done, as i know that area well. I was born in Henley On Thames ...although of course I do not remember that ;-) as I was a bit too young to remember at that time !!!! We have also driven past 'The Red Lion' Hotel regularly for the last 25 years on our way to visit my Mum and more recently to visit her grave, although we have never actually been in there. Anyhow, I diverge..........It was a very interesting clip to watch and I saw you in a grey/blue check shirt..........so much nicer than the black ones you usually wear !!! by the way....did I ever tell you that I don't like to see you dressed all in black ;-) !!!!!!!!!!! You look so much nicer in blue :-)So far we here in the UK have seen you on British TV on January 1st and February 1st :-))))) now can you top that with maybe another appearance on March 1st !! Well I can dream can't I...it keeps me going !!
So looking forward to November, but it just seems so far far away :-((
Please take care of yourself, love and hugs Chris xx
