Hi Chris,
well what a lovely evening...first seeing your 'live' session on AOL, even if you were dressed all in black ;-) followed by watching Liverpool beat Bordeaux
3-0...and 'Stevie G' scoring his first goal since May :-)))))))))
What a brilliant evening!!

Hi Chris,
I was listening this morning on 'Magic Radio', to the 'edited' version of the live concert you gave in the 'Trophy Room' at LFC about 10 days ago. It brought back such great memories of a 'wonderful' show in an equally wonderful setting, one that Stewart and i had always wished to 'visit' one day, but of course had never got around to :-( Thanks for a brilliant evening, even if it was to short ;-)!! We also had a nice time shopping the next day and of course visited the LFC 'shop'in the city centre, where of course we just 'had' to buy something ;-) before we started on the long journey back home to Essex.
Now i'm looking forward to Birmingham in just 19 days :-)))
love and hugs as ever,

I've just found this website and isn't it good. I had to look for a Chris De Burgh site because CDeB seems to be a bit of a trend in my life at the moment. A few weeks ago I was looking around a music site and decided that my CDeB tapes had finally had it and started buying CDs. 3 of them (nice early ones) arrived on Wednesday morning. That night I went to a production of West Side Story and Chris and family was there. Tonight I turned on the tv and there is Chris again. Not that I mind, I had forgotten the magic of CDeB for to long. Dublin shows please!! I'll never forget those brilliant concerts in years gone by.
Best wishes to all and Chris I hope you enjoyed the show on Wednesday.

I can`t believe it! A ridiculous story about healing Chris even made it into the Romanian press! Translated word for word from one of the English articles I might add. Seriously, word for word. Was journalist a synonim for translator? One learns something new every day! That article is so far from reality as it is from being sensible, well documented or worthy of attention. Just felt the need to express my contempt for such writings that claim to be real pieces of information and are in fact low-quality gossip. Chris, I know it takes much more than this ( :) ) to do you any harm, but I just can``t help being furious reading those things. Ok, I`m gonna go listen to the Storyman and calm down now :))

I bought your new album weeks ago =)
and it's more than just great. It's fantastic =) Now I´d really like to go to one of your concerts in germany, but as it comes to buying thing my chances aren´t very good, cos most of them are sold out. Yeah, yeah! I know this is very very very late to buy tickets...but what can I say? I felt in love with Chris´ music only a few weeks ago,..by "the Storyman".
So, if anyone of you guys, has two tickets for Munich or Stuttgart to sell, i´d be very happy to be the one to buy them =)
God bless you all!!

HI Chris,
I want to thank you for all the great songs you made so far. I'm feeling like you and I are walking to the shore. Leaving footprints by the sea,
and when there was just one set of prints in the sand, that was when you carried me. During my life many of your songs were describing what I was living in my life. My love for my wife (Many of your wonderful love song), the birth of my first girl (The song for Rosanna), the departure of my girl for her first trip alone (The song Here for you) are some examples. My wife and my two girls are waiting with me for your next show in Canada which we hope will be soon. Please let us know that we are not hoping in vain! Thanks again and continue for many, many more years!

Hi Chris,
congratulations! The Storyman cd is sensational good. I like the music, the lyrics and the stories. I would like to have stories for all your songs from "Far beyond these castle walls" up to now. Maybe it´s an idea for a book... Good luck for your tour in November. And, though I´m late, happy birthday. I raised the glass for you on 15 th, because it´s my birthday too.
All the best, hope to see you in Mainz again for a performance like in July 2005 near the Mainz Cathedral.

Just sitting here listening to all the discs I have of yours and heard "Where We Will Be Going" and thought how that song always reminds me of some terrible moments (John Lennon's death), but has so much hope as well. I am amazed by your ability to make us all see wonderful possibilities out of such dark moments, and hope despite all around us.
Honestly, I have found myself uplifted in many of my own "down" moments by your music.
A simple thank you never seems enough

I am always looking for new music (new to me anyway) I can't abide the modern music - hip hop. I want a strong melody and not all of the gimmicks that is in modern music. While searching itunes I remembered Lady in Red. I thouht that guy has a good voice maybe he some other songs I'd like. Well WOW - I love you Chris. Your music is so beautiful. I have now purchased 3 of your cds. I have 3 more on order. I will eventually buy most of them. Only money stands in my way but I will get there. I think Songbird is my fav. from The Road to Freedom. I wonder why you don't tour in the U.S. I have your new cd on pre-order from Amazon. I eagerly await my new music. Love you and your music. Just keep it coming.

Hi Ilka, I just read your comment about Franz Benton on MotL. His first album was the first LP I ever bought, and that was after Chris´concert in November 1986. I´m working at the local radio station of Wiesbaden. It´s a little not-commercial and not-professional radio station. On next Monday (Oktober 30th) I will talk with Franz live on phone. He is now touring around Germany, celebrating `20 Years Franz Benton`. I will visit his concert one day before I´ll see Chris in Frankfurt. So Franz will be again the ´supporting act´ for Chris, exactly 20 Years later. But of course Franz meanwhile made a lot of fantastic music, so that I don´t consider him as a `supporting act`. If you are interested in hearing music from 20 Years Franz Benton and in hearing the live interview, you can do this on www.radio-rheinwelle.de on Monday, 7 p.m.. And Chris, thank you, that you gave him a chance to bring his music to so many people. By the way I´ll play the greatest Stories of Chris de Burgh for more than one hour at Radio-Rheinwelle on November 27th . But I´m afraid, there will be no chance for me to talk with Chris live on phone?

Hallo, Chris,
only 4 weeks till your concert in bayreuth. Since one year I have got the tickets in the 2nd row. I look forward to see you soon. (I will dressed in red). ---
I listen to your new CD "The Storyman" and it is great. Spacially the song "Spirit"
is my favorite song on this CD. The songs "The Storyman" and "Raging Storm" ranks 2nd and 3rd.

Hello Chris,
The new album is great,I love The Mirror of The Soul it is in the same league as Crusader and the Leader triology. Raging Storm and Grace of a Dancer are great. Unfortunetly, I cannot make the Birmingham concert but I will definetely catch you next time, hopefully with the band.
I would also like to add that doing only one show in the UK is also a great idea as all Chris De Burgh fans in the UK will have to come together to see you. If people are really dedicated to your music they will not mind having to travel to see you. Also whether people stand, dance or sit at your concerts is not important - it is the spirit behind them that moves people. I was also pleased to see the video of One World, this a great way to plug your albums in the future.

Hi Chris,
I've started to be afraid of writing you emails, because I'm never sure, what is going to happen to me afterwards, but I knew it all along, that you are not only an excellent musician but also a very good guy, probably the sweetiest sort of a man a woman can find on this globe. Hi Chris, your 19.10 MOtL comment put me in a very good mood - it`s wonderful, starting with your wittiness and irony! It`s great to see you`re amused and take all this crap with good humour - sort of makes me aspire to the same attitude as I can`t repress my fury when I read such things about you :) And of course I agree with you that everyone should stick to the convictions they hold dear and not let themselves be discouraged by the sheep-like behaviour and the ignorant sneer of those around them! (you won`t see me giving up your music and joining the crowd of teenagers who drown themselves in house and rap anytime soon :)))
Is it just 10 days since I bought The Storyman? It`s a part of me already. I needed about 5 days to learn all the songs without even looking at the lyrics or making any efforts in that sense :)
Take care Chris, it`s great being in the same beautiful England as you :)

Dear Chris!
I just wanted to say that I´m so happy to have the oportunity to see you in concert! As I´m living in Sweden now,it became easy to finally try to see the singer I´ve always liked, and better as a 21 years old birthday present! My father would love to be here, but some day who knows if you will be in Brazil? or if he can come to Europe... your music is just fantastic, and I can say that every moment in my life happy or sad, it makes me feel really good and a better person by the way I start to think about life,love,future,past... and I just feel like I learn so much! (and also english, because when I started to learn on school I just wanted to come home to translate what I didnt understand on those wonderful songs)
I also wanted to say that it was so nice the song Brazil you made, and it was sweet the portuguese words you sang at the end.
well Chris when you see a brazilian flag at 24 november in Frankfurt, its me! and I´ll be so happy to be there and see you for the first time!
Thank you for the music and everything Chris!

Dear Chris,
I have read your contribution at MotL from 19.10.It is correct many people laugh about it. Many years ago I have meet a man this one can heal with his hands.I was also sceptical until there. He touched me with his hands and I felt considerably a pleasant warmth. I believe this it is possible curing people with his hands. Many people belives only they see, but there are things this can not explaining. In our hectic time we have forgotten this power. The people don't understand this and they don't understand that be afraid. As you write correctly these people only can hope that they, their children, or family and friends will never have to seek help from gifted practioners of alternative medicine, like, for example, Reiki healers. I believe you have healing hands and maybe I can touch your hands. I wish you and your family all good until soon.
With love
Heike

Dear Chris:
My husband has been in Afghanistan as a Canadian soldier and I have to say that your wonderful, amazing music has been always a large part of my life; neverthelss, it has been of great inspiration to me of late due too my loving, caring man being away from me and our children. I have been listening to Quiet Revolutions and Same Sun has swelled my heart with love and joy that he and i share all these things and how simple life really is.
YOu, you have made this possible for me and I have to say from the bottom of my heart, THank You, so very much, and you are a great man that has made me be even deeper in love with my husband when i hear your music.
It is amazing how your music fills my life with all the wonderful thoughts and feelings that make life great. Heatherxo

Hi Chris, happy Birthday this past sunday. Hey, I like your "Storyman" album so much. It's absolute fantastic. My favorite songs are: One World, Leningrad, The Mirror of the Souls, The Storyman and - of course - Raging Storm (with the lovely Kristyna Myles). I don't know, but I think I hear this song 10-20 times every day ;-) And i'm very happy to see you again in Hamburg this November. I think this will be my Chris de Burgh Concert Nr.17 (the first was in 1984 during your "Man on the Line"-Tour).
Best Wishes

When I said 'amusement' of my family, friends and colleagues, I meant that they all find it amusing that I sing so much, especially former colleagues, not so much the songs I sing. I didn't want you to think I sing your songs in an amusing way. Mind you, my voice is certainly not yours but I do my best :) and if they didn't know your music before, they certainly do after meeting me.
The song in my head, at the moment, is Raging Storm, I love it! The new Album is absolutely AWESOME!!!
Love,
Jacqueline

Dear Chris, Thank you for answering one of my questions in MO(T)L today. In case you read the Guestbook, I will answer your question to me.
Like you, I always sing in the car as I am usually alone. Sometimes to songs on the Radio but mostly CD's and 80% of the time they are yours :)
When I sing at home or when I used to work in a School, again, it was mostly your songs. I get a couple of favourites in to my head and I just can't stop singing them. When I say "to the amusement of my family", it is because sometimes I am singing with my ipod earplugs in and that probably sounds funny to them. When I was working in the School, I would go from room to room singing and the Staff always knew I was coming, not by my footsteps but because they could hear me singing. Some would say, Oh has Chris de Burgh got a new CD out (haha).
Hope this answers your questions.
Love, as always,
Jacqueline

Hi Chris,
First of all, Happy Birthday this past Sunday!! I hope you opened a special, dusty bottle of wine for the occasion!
Just a little continuation to your last line on the Oct. 16th answer.
"...on that terrible day when Christ was crucified."
My very soul is crying out not to leave that sentence with a period on the end! Of course, Christ had to be crucified in order to rise again. It was a terrible day in that He had to suffer so much on account of us. He took the penalty for all of humanities sins so that our relationship with The Father would be restored through His(Christ's) righteousness. But He rose again!
I don't want people who don't know, to think that Jesus hanging on the cross was the end of the story. He defeated death so that we could live!
That's all I wanted to say! :)
Love to you Chris and anyone who reads this,
Heather

I'm on holiday and a very good "C de B" friend sent a text to tell me that you'd answered a question of mine ...
So I'm in sunny Bournemouth in an Internet Cafe as I couldn't wait until I get home to read it!
Thank you very much - you've made my day (again!)- I have a very big smile on my face. Maybe I'll be drinking champagne tonight?! ;-)
Hoping that you had a great birthday yesterday?
See you soon!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS!!!!! :)))))
You`re wonderful, so what I wish you is to stay just as you are and thrill us with breath-taking melodies and stories for a long long time to come!
It`s very hard for me to take the headphones off or press the `stop` button on the cd-player since I bought The Storyman...I just have no words. I like it better and better with each second. I`m just listening to The Mirror of the Soul - it`s, to quote from a review, "9 minutes of pure song-writing genius". How true! It`s a real succes, one of your best (and it`s a tough competition :) )
I hope you had and still have an amazing day with your family and are celebrating how you deserve :)
I had an absolutely perfect day! I`m so happy. I`m dedicating it to you :) So now, "at the end of a perfect day" "I`m completely at peace with the world" and sending lots of positive energy towards you. Like you would need it!
Happy Birthday my cherished Storyman!
Eva
PS. I get furious when I read recent media reports about you. FURIOUS! The only thing that calms me down is listening to your songs :) I guess when you`re "good and famous", there`ll always be "newsmen looking through your life for mud". Luckily, those who know you know better. And that`s what counts.
Happy birthday! (I think I might have said that already :P)

Dear Chris,
Happy Birthday to you! I'm so glad that you are there. May you never get weary of doing what you always have liked to do and may you light and lift much more people's lives in the years to come and transmit a feeling of love through your music and certainly your person. I wish you many happy returns, that you always will get a hug when you feel the need for it, that you will stay healthy and keep your optimism and joy of life. Never loose hope because it's so difficult to find it again when you once have lost it. Above all I wish you much love, for love is all that we have.
Now I have listened to "The Storyman" several times and all I can say is "Thank you!". In fact I love it awfully much, it's a brilliant album, each song better as the other. You know, usually there is always one or two songs which are not so good, it's very rare that really each song on an album is extraordinary. But exactly this is the case at "The Storyman"; all songs are fantastic - in the literal sense of word. It's maybe the best recording ever, together with "The road to freedom"!
Already knowing the lyrics, out of interest I firstly read the stories behind them. The lyrics I liked most I started reading the story of, it's actually "Raging storm", my favourite. Then I listened to that songs I liked the story most, "Raging storm" and "Spirit". After that of course I started right from the beginning like it is meant when you listen for the first time in a new album. This was just an experiment, not always the best lyrics point to the best song. Another important part is after all the music. But funnily enough exactly they got actually my much-loved songs, together with "The mirror of the soul". So, nevertheless my tactic wasn't so bad ;-). I'm actually mad about "Raging storm" and the more unusual one "Spirit" is something completely different of what you have done before. But I'm keen on this song, it has an absolutely beautiful sound, everything is perfect. "The mirror of the soul", I just love it with it's three parts and when it comes to the last one you just feel 'shivers' running through you because of the wonderful music.
Well, as I said, all songs are great! But everybody has his personal bent for a particular tune, because each one has his own and individual perception, kind of lives in his own world...
You even took my name in one of your songs ;-)! Well, almost. But I suppose, Juliet is nearly the same as Julia, isn't it? Somehow it's just the translation into English. You know, ordinarily you always figure or work it out just as you would like to see it...
It's quite a good idea to have stories behind every song which expand on the lyrics and explain of what you was actually thinking when writing a particular song. Then the listener understands what it's all about and imagines the film going on. Completely different as when you haven't got a story and you get your own picture of what the song is all about. Thus everybody has his individual interpretation of the song, which can sometimes totally differ, as we often have seen at MOtL. I think, both ways are fascinating. For example yet I don't know the story behind "Day after day" and at the moment I only know the lyrics. The single CD still I had to order. So, my version of this song, which may vary from yours, is that a loved one, a lover, a family member or the child, committed suicide and nobody noticed the signals, the silent cries for help. They could never see it at all, until it was too late. Day after day they were lost in their own world. It is never easy to give up and just surrender, but this is exactly what they have to do. This person was always there beside them, but they hardly noticed. And now it's too late ....
Only five weeks and three days to go until the concert !!! And as you know, one week later I will go to Stuttgart, too.
I still can't believe that finally I can listen to "The Storyman". I've been 'waiting' so long, but it was worth it, you know what I mean.
The last days I've had 'several' litres of hot water and honey, as I have a sore throat. Particularly it's a mental medicine because when you say it helps, it does help. I also had feverish dreams about you and in the end I was not quite sure anymore if you really where there. But I suppose, you well wasn't there. Only in my imagination, because I simply drift away and anything is possible. You are my invisible friend. With the difference that most invisible friends don't exist at all, however mine does. He lives his own life and is quite beyond the reach, difficult to get through to him. But a part of him, maybe his shadow or something, keeps an eye on me and is always with me - and probably with many others, too.
Certainly I will be looking forward to this day where my invisible friend and the real one get one with each other. In plain language; when I'll meet you.
Enjoy your Birthday!
Love and hugs,
Julia (19) from Germany

P.S.: Marginally I got what's going on in the press at the moment. There will always be people who make life difficult for us. Beat them by showing that about the way you live is nothing bad. Have a clear conscience and be stronger. I think it's not worth getting upset about these things, thankfully the people who support and love you clearly predominate.

Derek and I are in our sixties been listening to Chris De Burgh for ever. Weaned our now 38 year old son on all his music. When Matthew started his travels to Spain, Australia, Antarctica,(working on Russian scientific boats) South America he would always call and refer to one or other of Chris de Burghs songs. Yes, our son is a true romantic...now he is marrying his partner Julie, after 7 years of undaunted love....many battles though! They are to be married by the river in the Kootenays B.C. in June 2007 - no fancy wedding - straw bales a couple of local bands - great music...children and lots of love - one big party with people from all over the world attending.
I am probably asking the impossible question - what would it take to get Mr. De Burgh to come and sing?
Just thought I would ask the question.
Kind regards

Dear Chris
I am blown away! The Storyman is amazing, thrilling, riveting...I just can`t stop listening to it! Yesterday the Russian student who`s living in the same host-family as me listened to some songs from it and what she said was "This is definely not background-music! Now I understand why you can`t concentrate to write your homework while listening to it and then you don`t sleep at night." :)) So the fact that I can write this while listening to "Leningrad" is a great achievement ;) My favourites, although I adore them all, would have to be Raging Storm (duets always seem a succes for you, Two Sides to every Story is also among my passions) and The Mirror of the Soul - it`s glorious! And of course the Storyman brought a smile to my face for every allusion to a song of yours, so you can imagine that so many smiles are a guaranteed path to happiness :))) Thank you
Dieter

Can't await to see you on tour.
Expecting a setlist worth a storyman...
a killer setlist would be:
the storyman
I love the night
where we will be going
the traveller
leningrad
waiting for the hurricane
the key
grace of a dancer
spanish train
crusader
rose of england
ship to shore
the mirror of the soul
fire on the water
revolution
transmission ends
encore:
hitmedley(high on emotion/missing you/sailing away/ferryman)
lady in red
carry me (like a fire in your heart)
a spaceman came travelling
perhaps a bit too long - but dreaming should be allowed

Nice lyrics on "The Storyman" - as a German I had to listen to it several times until I realized that you are quoting a lot of older songs in it. Really nice :-) Can we guess the playlist of your upcoming tour from the titles named? Well, I hope not ... because that would mean a greatest radio hits tour. What I would like to hear is more of your epic material - songs that you didn't play with a band for a long time such as Revolution, The Traveller, Waiting for the Hurricane and Jerusalem. Taht would be very very nice and I wouldn't even mind the cheesy Lady in Red squeezed in... greetz from Cologne MW see ya in Düsseldorf.

Dear Chris,
although there's a shadow above your music for me now, I've bought your new album. It sounds a bit different for me.
One of my favourites from the start is "The Storyman". I like those mystical songs very much.
The band 'Blackmore's Night' does such mystical and middle-aged sounding songs as well and I like to listen to them, too.

Dear Chris de Burgh,
I was also visiting your concert in mannheim. ...20 years after my uncle made me "the getaway" as a present to my birthday. After that I bought "the spanish train..." and the older records, my parents smiled mildly. When they started to hear your music ("The Lady in red"), I stopped listen to Chris de Burgh-Songs. In Mannheim I had the opportunity to see you (thanks again to my uncle) and I enjoyed the evening very much. At the end of a perfect day my uncle and me ended up in the same police-station like some other chris de burgh-fans, because our car was damaged by some thieves. Anyways,it was a nice evening.
Many greetings, Bianca

Dear Chris,
thankfully I write you this little message. I had the luck back from work to listen to the last hour of your Berlin-Radio concert with my laptop! The candle-light was burning in the room and a glas of wine was here to enjoy after you told us this. Well it was a very romantic evening here, chatting with Doris and trying to write you an e-mail to the radio-station. I hope you got it! And really, Chris, you are a great componist and piano- and guitar-player, I heard it again in "The Grace of a Dancer". Compliment for your wonderful new work in music.
Actually my new Piano-teacher is very pleased from "When Winter comes" and we both try to play it together in my first lessons with her.
Thanks Chris my world is filled with a piano now and the old guitar is no more standing in the corner for the whole time! Now I can feel how wonderful it is to have a piano under my hands. It is a soft instrument you are playing, but I am still a little bit in trouble with the first notes.
Chris , you are the best!

Dear Chris de Burgh,
I am totally outraged by the appalling comments (as I read on the Mailing List) of certain media people regarding the phenomenon of the healing hands which you had the courage to bring up.
Thus I protest strongly against the ignorance, arrogance and stupidity prevailing mostly in our uneducated and stubborn “civilized western” world. I often wonder, do we really live in One World? Then why are we as presumptuous and self-centered as to overlook and mock the culture, history, and progress of other peoples on this planet? It is the background of ordinary people like you and me (neither magicians, nor sorcerers or saints) who were as privileged as to inherit the knowledge of their ancestors and pass it on to the next generation. People in China and India for instance who have shared with us, the mighty Europeans, their methods of alternative medicine for the comfort and cure of other human beings.
I shall only share three things from my personal life although I may also be running the risk of being considered a fool, even by other fans, too: Accu-puncture, Tai-Chi/Kung Fu, Reiki. I used to suffer from severe pains for 14 years and poisoned my organism with useless painkillers until an accu-puncture treatment cured me completely!
For the past 3 years I have been practicing Tai-chi (a kind of esoteric Kung Fu, Chinese martial art). The mental, psychological and physical caliber of my life has improved considerably as I FEEL the energy not only flowing inside me but also being scattered in my environment (my classmates and instructor have felt it).
Reiki: “universal spiritual life-force channelled through the hands” So here is the “power of the healing hands” that you have talked about! I have had others perform it on me most effectively and now I am proud to say that I practice it on myself and other people… with flying colours! Emotional and physical stress, various aches can be taken away and Placebo has got nothing to do with it!
“Reiki practitioners channel energy in a particular pattern to heal and harmonize. Unlike other healing therapies based on the premise of a human energy field, Reiki seeks to restore order to the body whose vital energy has become unbalanced”. – Info taken by the following link: http://www.holisticonline.com/Reiki/hol_reiki_what-is-reiki.htm
We all possess this "all-encompassing strength" and energy inside us on different levels of course. It depends on how open and perceptive we are in order to recognize it, cultivate it and channel it properly for the sake of humanity.
By laughing at you, those narrow-minded and malicious individuals downgrade the very essence of being human, the immeasurable potential of the human nature itself! Contempt is what they deserve.
I congratulate you once more for being a Man on the Line and express your feelings, thoughts and ideas fearlessly!
Take care, oh my brave heart!
With love and respect,
Dimitra Dourouda

Hi Chris,
Sorry I missed your concert in Berlin but I will buy the new CD. I have had the pleasure meeting you more than 20 years ago in Bad Segeberg (Joe Cocker, Rick Springfield). We were staying at the same hotel and we got back stage permission from Micky Finley, one of your crew members. We met Danny McBride and the others, I took your picture with Roseanna in your arm. Danny invited me for breakfast a year later when you were staying at the Intercontinental in Berlin and you said Hi. I still love your music.

Hi Chris,
after a few days have gone by and the memories of the concert in Mannheim are still lingering in my mind, I just wanted to thank you so much for this fantastic evening. Although I was a little bit disappointed when you stopped singing after only one hour, this one hour of my life was worth all the inconveniences that were connected to it. And when I say inconveniences, I mean REAL inconveniences: When we came back to our car after the show to drive home, we had to find out that somebody had broken in our car!!! They have broken the co-driver's window, damaged the door itself and stolen our navigation system and the handsfree set. We had to spend half of the night first finding the next police station (without navigation system... ;o)) and then make the report. So it was almost 2 a.m. when we finally got home, and the originally "free" concert will cost us about 500 €! What a bitter end to such a fantastic beginning...
Anyway - thanks again for the prefixed compensation ;o)
Take care, good luck for the further promotion and cu in Stuttgart in December!
Love and hugs, Ilka

Hi Chris,
well I just listened online to the radio concert in Berlin this evening and it sounded really good :-)) the songs from the new album esung solo sound very good, and this proves that you can really sing any song just with guitar or piano....as if we did not already know that!! Also was listening to radio 2 Tracks Of My Years this morning and you had chosen 'Without You' by Nilson.........gosh I simply adore this song and when I first brought the record I was living in the nurses home at the hospital in London where i trained all those years ago ...and I used to put it on my old record player, lift the arm so it would play over and over again and just lie and listen to it for ages. i see another of your chosen tracks is 'Unbreak My Heart'....now that is another one that I adore as well, and have the album with it on.
Please try to ignore all this awful 'press coverage' that you are getting here in the UK at the moment. All the newspapers have done, is taken a single comment you made on Heaven And Earth on Sunday and written it right out of context and then added whatever they wanted to add to make it sound soo dreadful. I HATE newspapers and practically NEVER read them, but of course could not fail to see all this garbage over the last few days. And why now, its not new, you have told before of this ability you have...I remember a TV show back in 1992 when you mentioned it...now maybe you better prove it by healing my 'constant' back ache and knee aches that I normally get...then I can go tell the press, that your hands really do help pain :-)) !! somehow, just by being near you, it always heps the pain anyway :-))) Hope the promo tour in Germany is going OK and I'm really really hoping to win one of these tickets to see your 'one off' concert here in the UK next week. Please take good care of yourself and don't do too much. Love and hugs as ever,
Chris(W)thebluehealer xxXxx

We are aware you do a lot of promoting "the Storyman", and your effort seems to be succesfull.
But Cora van Leeuwen and I seperately wrote to the biggest radiostation of Holland(2,5 million listeners a day)asking to put up "The Storyman" as the CD of the Week....and they did!!!!
It means your new cd is played in each program of the radiostation , and is heard by millions of people for a whole week.
I write this on the wednessday, and by now the people who appear in the programs , both dj's and listeners ,talk very highly of you and this magnificent album.
We are very proud of you......
Hope the extra airplay will give the sale of the album a big boost, and also your popularity, and make people to think a bit different about the man who wrote many more than only Lady in red.
See you in Dortmund, Germany(highlight of the CdeB- year, and in Amsterdam!!!

Hello Chris,
Thank you for your reply to my very short question. MOTL 10th Oct.
Yes it is the same Julia that you met in Australia last February. (What a wonderful time we had at your concert)
I hope the bottle of wine was to your liking?
Again thankyou for your phone message whilst we were holidaying in Ireland. As I think I have mentioned before we were probably down in a Crypt inside one of your beautiful Cathedrals and had to turn off the mobile.
Back to my MOTL question where you say that you haven't had your portrait painted. It's certainly worth thinking about? Perhaps playing the piano or guitar. Mmm!
Best Wishes.

Hi Chris
Since the fabulous Killarney concert that I attended with my friend Naomi and where i bought the Storyman, I have played that and yr other albums morning, noon and night. Even I didn't think I could listen to your music as much as I have recently! :-) Anyway, I love Raging Storm - first time I heard it was day after the concert and Naomi and I were driving through the Kerry mountains (stunning! even though I've seen them good few times) and there we were way up there, just us, our little car, stunning scenery and you singing such a beautiful song. Really got me. Wow.
I also have 2 small children one of which is Daniel age 4 who for some odd reason has got stuck into Lonely Sky recently and keeps asking me to put it on. Then he asks how the trees can cry leaves into the river (try explaining that to a 4 year old!). Anyway, he kept asking whether you would sing it at the concert and unfortunately you didn't - but at least he wasn't there. He has now got into, as he calls it, The Lady in the Red so he sits in the back of the car singing Lady in the Red... Lady in the Red. Its so sweet.
Thanks again for a fab concert - Naomi and I were swinging along!
And I see you have loads of german fans commenting on this website and all waiting for the german concerts - GUYS, YOU ARE IN FOR A TREAT!
Cheers

Hi Chris,
just wanted to drop by and tell you how much I enjoyed the radio concert yesterday in Mannheim. I was just driving there without having a ticket and actually no hopes of being let inside. But - surprise - I got a ticket as the young man at the entrance said that if I drive about 110 km just to maybe get a chance, I would deserve a ticket. After a rather horrible day at work I was sooo happy!!!!!
And I could even ask you a question. Now you needn't answer that one on MOtL :-))))
Well, take care and enjoy your promo-tour in Germany.
see you soon, hugs,

We have discovered together your new album and we have ever a favorite song in our head especially made to celebrate our common love. "The sweetest Kiss of all". This song is a magical song, full of power and passion. "Raging Storm" is also a wonderful love song, but we don't forgot to speak about all the album. This album is an invitation to a wonderful trip, we close our eyes and we visit Russia, Africa and we can follow our imagination to an oriental place. Thanks so much for this new Opus of your talent, A great Album, for sure it will meet the success, but we will wait now to celebrate with you a wonderful concert in Dortmund and Dusseldorf. Dear Chris,
it feels very, very good this evening at home and listen to your new album "The SToryman", which arrived today. For so many years you have been the voice and the man I listened to in this room, when I was lonely and had a lot of time for myself and all over the years I enjoyed it.
Now after so many years this room is filled with you and your new stories and all these wonderful different rhythms in music from all around the world, which makes me happy to dance around for a while, but too to listen to the new stories. Leningrad leads me back to the early days of my childhood, when the old men talked about the war and makes me feel with this woman in the story, The whole history in a few words in a song! That is great Chris. "My father's eyes" makes me think about what I have heard about your father, that he had been Diplomat, but I don*t know him, "The Grace of a Dancer", well it reminds me to the countryside and...., but it is a different story,"Spirit" blows me finally away into your world where I could ever find you in your words of al the years before in the songs, the stars, the wind and the rain and makes me feel you will be near soon in this year, where I can see you again, "The Shadow of the Mountain" in connection with the story behind it is wonderful and reminds me to my love for the country Italy with all it's olives and mountains, where I was, "Raging Storm" feels like a wonderful lovesong between the woman who sings with you and you and "The Mirror of the Soul" is great, great, great and takes away the devil in "The Devil's eye" of the years before and I am sure I will listen to this song a lot and looking more for the vocabularies, which are still strange, "The sweetest Kiss of all" is like an actual imaginative feeling in one of my own songs and "The Storyman" feel like you all over the years and for sure I will take you back to new places in my land here, 'coz I love it when you are personally here again! But as it is in your life, you are choosing the places where you want to be in concerts.
Greetings from a very happy and still loving all of you what I can get, like Music, Words, Photos on a cover, Interviews, concertnights ......
Love can really be alive for a long, long time, Chris

Hi Chris!
I wrote but a few days ago, but felt compelled again. I noticed from some Yahoo e-mails that on some BBC radio show(I'm in the U.S. so forgive me for my ignorance) that you noted as one of your favorites a Doobie Brothers song. Well before I get into my connection with them let me just say that in "The Ballroom of Romance" there's a vocal part that's always sounded like the Doobie Bros. to me. It's at the end of the chorus when you sing that "romance is here at laaaaast." When you draw out the word last it sounds like it's from a Doobie Bros. song.
So my connection is that my Uncle Larry (my Mother's brother) was best friends with Pat Simmons in high school; Leigh High in San Jose, CA. I went there too! According to my Mom, Pat would come over to the house all the time and jam around with my uncle. My Uncle played a mean Banjo. Unfortunately My Uncle was murdered in 1973 in the Santa Cruz mountains by someone who decided he was trespassing on his property. I was almost 4 and remember him very well. Anyway Pat heard about it and came to the funeral. A tragic ending to my story, but The Doobie Brothers will always hold a special place in my heart as it will always remind me of my Uncle Larry. It was a neat feeling to see you acknowledge them.
Love to you,
Heather

This is an awsome website. I have followed your career since Far Beyond These Castle Walls (which is not available anywhere now...I need to replace mine just for the mere fact I wore mine out). I met you during the Spanish Train Tour and you are just as great now as you were. My 22 year old has followed your career because that is what played in our house. Now I have a 3 year old (with Down Syndrome) and she also finds your music soothing. She crawls up on my knee and wants to listen to your music with the headset on. So for generations in our house you have been a valued entertainer(a part of our family..if you will). I even took my mother to her first concert since Elvis and to this day she has to tell the story. Thanks for the memories.....looking forward to many more! Darlene

Dear Chris,
thank you so much for the wonderful new album "The Storyman".
I like it very much. Great impressive songs, beautiful booklets with interesting comments and lovely photographs.
I'm really thrilled with "The mirror of the soul". It's my absolute favourite song.
Of course, the whole album is fantastic.
I can't get enough of "The Storyman".
Look forward to seeing you in the tv-show "Verstehen Sie Spaß" live in Freiburg and of course on tour.
Bye, take care.

Hi Chris,
well thanks for a great 4 songs on 'Friday Night is Music Night' at the Arts Depot this evening. We really really enjoyed it, and you looked lovely in your suit and blue shirt:-))
Gosh we were all about half the age of 99% of the audience!!!! but no worries!! We talked to a few of the audience before the show started and they all thought that it was great that we had come just to support you. We explained we always do ;-)
After the show Claudia Stewart and I went for a nice Pizza meal to celebrate her birthday, but I had to wait till I had driven us all home before I could have an alcoholic drink!!
Ah well, thats about all, apart from just to say again, we really really enjoyed your 4 songs :-)))
love and hugs as ever,
Chris xx Stewart(my brother ;-) and Claudia xx

Hey Chris
I just read the MOtL q&a from today. I was so afraid when I read you were thinking this would be the last album and then so happy to see you`ve changed your mind and are going to be around for longer than we might think :)I subscribe to what Chris Williams said a few entries before, don`t forsake us please!
I`m just listening to you live on BBC Radio 2. I`ve just heard you talking, now you`re singing "The Grace of a Dancer"! Oh, England is beautiful and I`m so happy to be here, even if just because I can listen to you singing like right now :)))) (I`m from Romania and now I`m in Cambridge doing A-levels, hopefully University too). "There`s nobody here, there`s just you and me, it`s where I want to be..." For the second time in my life I`m hearing Lady in Red at the same time that you`re singing it! I hope there`ll be many other occasions to follow. "Thank you very much", you just said upon finishing the song. Thank YOU very much! Don`t ever stop singing, can`t you see we`re riveted?

Hi Chris,
first its nice to see MOtL back !! Now having just read todays 6-10-2006, where you say that a few years back you did think of making the 'last' album...but then thankfully you decided on 'The Storyman' project. Chris, PLEASE PLEASE never give up writing your brilliant albums and never give up touring completely...we all LOVE you too much for that. There are still many many of us out in 'CdeB' land that want to hear your music and attend your concerts, so never give up. If you did, what would we have to look forward to :-(((
Love and hugs as ever,

Chris,
I love you. I love your attitude and your zest for life! I just read Oct.6 MOtL and I'm so excited you're excited about writing music etc.! I share that same attitude. I always told my Mother that if I didn't make it in acting(whatever that means) until I'm 70 or older I'll still keep trying because that's all I've ever wanted to do. It's in my soul. Heck I'm 36 and want to try figure skating! I had an ice skater friend who taught me some things and I picked it up very quickly. I'll never use my age as an excuse for not trying something!
You have such a new energy on what I've heard so far from The Storyman. It's like you've been reborn or something. Not that you were dead, of course, but you know what I mean!:)
So Storyman 1-100, you'll always have me as your audience.
I will meet you some day Chris de Burgh! And I shall sing a duet with you. That's my dream.
Take care, and come to New York!
Love, Heather(Helton)

Dear Chris,
Tomorrow the new album "The Storyman" will be released!!!!! Finally. I'm really looking forward to it and I already reserved one at the music store, so no one can come before me and buy up all the albums ;-). The delivery already arrived today, so fortunately exactly on time.
Except of two ones I still know none of the new songs, I couldn't listen to the soundclips of this homepage, and now I'm dying to listen to them. There is no doubt they will be great, I trust you blindly.
I'm very glad MOtL is back!!!! In fact I love your answer of today. As you can imagine "There is room in this heart tonight" is also a favourite of mine. Actually I've been thinking about it would be great if you performed that one at the coming concerts once again.
By the way, only six weeks and six days still to go... until the concert in Munich!!!! It actually seems to me as I've been waiting for ages and ages.
Just wanted to share my thoughts...
LOVE,
Julia (19) from Germany

Hi Chris,
I´m one of the very lucky winners of the SWR concert. Now I´m looking forward a great evening. It would be more than perfect if you could play "In A Country Churchyard". It was our wedding-song and it was played by the organ when we "walked slowly to the altar".
Thanks for your wonderful music

Hi Chris, best wishes from the "Steiner See" in Hiltrup near Muenster! (You know the place ;.))
I just want to tell you that I grew up with your music, saw you once live in Muenster and was totally amazed!
On CD your voice is great but I will never forget that evening when I heard it live, never knew how clear and strong a voice can really sound like!!!
(Though I visited concerts from other artists). Nothing compares to you!
One thing you should know: The people in our region (Westfalen, specially Muenster) are very, very reserved and it was a pleasure to see what happened with them during your performance. They totally changed from they're "trained" distance behavor to those deep emotions and joy. You touched them deep in they're hearts, even if a man from another region or country maybe isn't able to recognize it when he compares it to people who have a natural "open" behavior which they show any artist. In never saw the people of my city so happy and deeply touched coming out of a concert.
Thank you for that, I hope you'll visit Muenster again, the people here LOVE you!
Thank you also very much for all that great music, I heard it when I was a child, when I fell in love for the first time and when I was feeling sick or sad it gave me strengh to carry on.
God bless you!
Best wishes,
Thomas

i think that the new CdeB album 'The Storyman' is excellent. As far as i listen to the soundclips the greatest hit from this album is 'The Shadow of a Mountain' which will be reminded after 100 years. My other favourites are 'Leningrad' and 'The Storyman'.By the way i liked all the other tracks as well. Congratulations Mr. de Burgh, you made our emotions running high once again. Necip.

Dear Chris and fellow fans,
I've just listened to the clips of the new album and I was awed by what I heard! I listened in mesmerized silence and experienced the same visceral reactions as I did when I put The Getaway record(my first CdeB album) on my turntable in 1983. Back then it was, "What have I discovered!" I am so grateful that the Don't Pay the Ferryman video played in the U.S. otherwise I may have never found you. That song is very much a story and I remember loving the dramatic mysteriousness of the video. I said to my sister "I like this guy and his black cape!" She made a mental note and got me the album for Christmas. It was like discovering gold.
I can't wait to hear the whole Storyman CD. I was caught up in every track bit! The production of it has a Rupert Hine quality where there are many different sounds happening that take on a dynamic shape creating drama and taking you on a journey through the song. Well, that's enough for now. I'm sure I'll have more to say when I actually listen to the whole album.
Take care everyone and thank you Chris for your music and the goodness, love, and light that you bring to it.
Love,
Heather (Helton)
