dear Chris, I'm 58 and I hear your songs since a long time (please excuse my little english!). What do you think about death and whats coming after? My younger son died 2005, he was 28 years old. Sometimes I'm very sad and sometimes I feel, he is in good hands.
Thank you for your music and your words, I love to hear it.

Hi Chris,

It was "by acciedent" that I came across your album "Love Songs" and the only song I had known was "Lady in Red". I hardly listen to contemporary music, neither watch movies. But I heard that song before and chose to buy that CD. I have never regretted it and get any of your new albums that comes my way. (When I do visit a shop that is, and that is hardly!)

Your songs are an inspiration to me. They talk of real things, not some fantasy. They inspire the heart, not just cause words to run in the head. And I feel it's your heart that sings, not just some words that you utter.

That's what music is all about. A union of hearts. Thank you for the music, the songs you're singing!

Simple question. Can anybody tell me if the 2006 tour will land anywhere close to New York City?
(By close, this would, of course, include Montreal).

Thank you.

I just wanted to say that I have been a fan of yours and have been attending your concerts since the 70's. I'm really enjoying your return to touring solo with acoustic guitar and piano, and smaller venues.I was just wondering if you have ever considered touring with/recording with any other artists/acts, and if so
who are you just dying to work with? Thanks.

You can take it.

Dear Chris,

this quick note is just to say: "I enjoy the DVD 'Songs of Praise'" (thanks to Chris W.).

I love your performance of "The Risen Lord" solo :-), "A Spaceman Came Travelling" with the kids :-) and "Where Peaceful Waters Flow" of course. :-)

And thank you for showing us the places that mean a lot to you (the journey of your life): the local church, the school, the college chapel, the Colimore Harbour in Dalkey...

Take good care and carry on.

Hello Chris,

My girl friend and I are one of your unconditionnal Fans. I listen to your music since I am 13 years old (I am now 34). At that time I was listening my sister's album "into the light" and since that I bought many of your CDs.

I have been very sick and lonely when I was in my 20s (because of mental hillness) but your music kept me focused on true values of life so that I have been able to recover since. Today, thanks god and modern medecine I live a practically normal life.

These days I am healthy and living with my girl friend since two years now and we are waiting for our first child. I will certainly sing her your "For Rosana" song to have my baby fall asleep.

I still listen to your old albums as well as some newer ones so that I don't forget that I am happy to be part of this world to share also my good times with my familly and friends.

When I first listen to the Timing is Everything song I had a smile because I found it true. This because no matter what I could do when I was sick, no ladies would stick around with me for more than an evening. When I finaly found the right medication and the right dose and became more confident, I met the lady who is still with me today and keeps me more than satisfied.

I don't know if you will come to visit us in Canada in the near future. If yes, I hope you will come to Montreal so that I could see and hear your show. I haven't seen a show since a while while ago but I think my girlfriend would really love to have one of your ticket as her birthday gift. Her birthday is on June 21th. It is easy to remember... the longest day of the year... and my favorite day too after my birthday. This is a whish in a bottle but if at least you have taken the time to read this e-mail I would be very happy.

Thaks for your beatifull music and long life to you and your family.

Farewell

Martin Girard

P.S.: Excuse me if my English is not always perfect because I am a French canadian and English is my second language.

You're amazing! In my eyes, no one, really nobody can top you. I have always looked up to you and listen to the messages within your songs. I myself believe that we were all once a "bunch" of souls roaming around until we asked God to give us a "body", and so he did. Now we can feel happy, love, and all other pleasures of life. Yet, the "downfall" of all this was we couldn't feel hapiness without having sadness, we could not smile without being able to cry.

You are really on the top, you have never composed and sang a song that I didn't like.

From a fan
Shirley

Just want to tell you that I love your music and just saw your interwiew with Sonia Benezera on MusiMax. I went to your concert in Trois-Rivière in November and really love it. Hello Chris!
Just decided to drop by and say what an awesome job you have done in your musical career. Your music is inspiring and relevent to all ages, nationalities, creed and well to myself, a young Canadian adult of Chilean origin. (That's right, the country west of your birthland, with good wine....and ..ehh fine women)
I've been a fan since I can remember. It's amazing to read other comments by fans in other countries, how they grew up listening to your music...Having older brothers and sisters, I was introduced to your music at a very young age, I can honestly say that the first music to my ears was your music Chris....it's amazing once I think about it...wow and I'm 30.
My friend, my mentor, (goodness, it sounds like I know you close)my favorite musical artist of all time..and this comming from me who enjoys a variety of music tastes ..especially that one huge band out of Ireland...(need I say more)
your number one.
God bless you brother and God bless all fans worldwide.
P.S Please come to Canada (western Canada any time soon)

Chris,

Your concert at Theatre St.Denis in Montreal, November 2005, was the most memorable concert I have ever been to. From beginning to end, your lyrics, your music, your presence mesmerized me. Since I didn't want that night to end, I immediately bought your CD Live In Dortmund and the DVD Road to Freedom, so it would continue on. I play When Winter Comes together with you on the piano. Yours plays on the DVD, as I play along. Now my 20 year old daughter is playing it as well. (A new fan!) I'd love for you to record more piano solos.
Montreal loves you and looks forward to your return. Come back soon!

Dear Chris,

I read in the MOtl that you are a fan of gregorian music.
I can recommend you to listen to songs of the group Gregorian- Masters of Chant(don't mix them up with Gregorian Chants)on our website(international orientated in the languages English, German, Dutch and Russian). Go to the page ORIGINALS and you can listen to the samples of the original and converted songs by Gregorian - Masters of Chant.

Last year there was a big European Gregorian Tour. One of those concerts, in Prague, is recorded on the Live-DVD called "Masterpieces".

The original Gregorian website is www.gregorian.de

Hope you enjoy this music.

Many Regards from a Dutch Gregorian and Chris de Burgh fan.

Dear Chris,

EPHESUS: an ancient place: mosaices, gates, columns, temples, Agora, the library, the magnificent streets(!), the big theatre...

I didn't attend your concert in Efes. :-( But I can imagine the atmosphere of a concert there... :-)

I just let you know that I was in Turkey in 1987, 1988 and 1989 by car (VW bus - no luxury) together with my husband and two really YOUNG boys:

... Zagreb - Beograd - Sofia - ISTANBUL - Göreme (the region of Kappadokien - wow!)- KAYSERI - Konya - Pamukkale - EFES... Most impressive Middle Eastern adventures and great memories.

Love, hugs and missing you - from Germany to Ireland, Gerlinde

P.S. It is so hard for me to recognize that I made and make no difference....

Dear Chris,

Thank you so much for acknowledging my entry in the guestbook about Paul preaching AFTER Jesus was on Earth. I knew it had to be some crazy mix up! I was sure you knew your stuff. You just had a dyslexia moment. I'm glad you've set the record straight! That was just so curious that I had just been studying about it...
Just so you know, I have been a fan since 1983 when I was 13 and am beside myself that 23 yrs. later you have acknowledged me! The young girl in me is doing cartwheels! Okay, I confess, I'm doing them right now. I actually saw you in concert September 1, 1984 in Santa Clara, Calif. @ Marriott's Great America. I was in the front row. I'll never forget it. I've not been able to go abroad yet, but it has dawned on me that since I'm in New York now, it would be possible to go to Canada next time you tour there! I know you have lots to do so I'll end by saying thank you for making my day!

Sending you loads of love from across the pond,

Heather (Helton)

Dear Chris,

what a luck at the beginning of the new year! You on RTL singing "Don*t pay the ferryman". And this look in your eyes into the camera made me feel as would you sing this song for me there outside behind the screen to remind me to the concert in Salem, where we could sing this song with you together a few month ago. It was very nice to hear about that little river in Germany where you began to like this country Germany. Thomas Stein we have seen here a lot on television when there was "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" and I am pleased that he was such a good supporter to you too.

This first days of the year are the days to wish you a very happy new year filled with thing which you like to do as you wish it and good journeys till I can meet you again, and I really hope that I can meet you a little bit earlier as November this year. "We must be crazy to try it all..", but we do.

Chris,

Firstly, I have to say that I am really impressed with this site and your willingness to engage with your fans by answering their questions personally. I have enjoyed your music for many years and have always found your lyrics so thought-provoking. I don't usually watch "Songs Of Praise", but I DID watch it on Sunday evening and it was really interesting to hear about your Christian faith. Do you have a page on your site where I can find out more about what you believe? If not, would you be happy for me to e-mail a few questions I have to you? [I promise that there won't be a list as long as your arm!].
Thanks for your time

All the best

Hi Chris! You say that you sometimes read this so I thought I'd mention this here. I just read your answer to the question on Jan. 3 and something looked amiss. Surely you meant that AFTER Jesus lived on Earth, Paul preached at Ephesus. Because Saul became Paul after he had seen Jesus on the road to Damascus. There had to have been Jesus in order for him to have something to preach about. You know, the Church at Ephesus and all. If you are referring to some other Paul that I am not aware of or something, but I think Paul of Tarsus is the same one that I know. This is so crazy because just last night and today I started a personal Bible study on Acts, which I think is my favorite book, where Paul started his ministry in Antioch etc. Bizarre. Anyway, as you say, "Timing is Everything!"

Take care my most favorite singer song writer of all time! And that is how I present you to people in these United States. Love to you, Heather Helton

Hi Chris, I saw your songs of Praise programme on New Year's day. It was more than just inspirational. I wish I could get a copy of you singing the Spaceman song in front of all those wonderful children; I switched on as you were about half way through it, and now I kick myself because the BBC do not appear to be repeating it. I would so love to see that again, you had those children transfixed with joy, one of the most emotional moments I have ever seen on tv. I hope I can get hold of a dvd of that from somewhere!
Best wishes to you and your wonderful family, you have a new and loyal fan!

Hi Chris! a very happy new year to you and your family.

I recently celebrted my 21st Birthday on the 13th of December last. It was quite an emotional and exciting night especially when I had all my fantastic friends and family in the same room for the first time ever.

the finest moment of all was at the end of the night. have you ever been at a party where the final song of the evening was "Don't Pay The Ferryman"?

Yes what a way to end a 21st party. No national anthem. "Don't Pay The Ferryman" was the national anthem on that special night in Dublin. It was because I'm a long term fan and have been since I was about 4 as I've told you before on this site.

That is why my mam had that particular song requested t o be played (she even took my cd "High On Emotion Live From Dublin")so the Dj could play it. that song goes back many many years in my family ever since my older brother brought it into our house during the mid 80s when he was a fan. Your music has growed throughout my entire family and it has been a part of my life for quite some time and always will.

Thank you Chris. For everything.

Andrew.

Dear Chris,

Hopefully you are safely back in Ireland by now. You know, here is only snow, snow, snow and snow again. It already went down an avalanche and it collapsed an ice stadium both in Bad Reichenhall near Berchtesgaden. Because the snow is such wet it's very dangerous.
So, you and your family can be glad if you are at home again!

Yours always supporting and loving you
Julia (18) from Germany

Dear Chris,
I have just been watching "Songs of Praise" 01.01.06 on the BBC and was delighted to see that your inspiration is that which also inspires me and how much your personal history, your surroundings and other influnces affect how you intend to lead your life. Thank you for your music, especially the words and for being an example that one can follow.
