Hi Chris, hope you are recovering from your hectic tour schedule around Germany. Was lucky enough to get to see you in Beverungen (the German cow field!) but when oh when will you be in England again?

Just read your reply on MOTL re Martyn Joseph. I have been following Martyn since one of his very first concerts and think some of his stoytelling songs are not unlike yours! I was so surprised and thrilled to find him as support for you in Birmingham in 2003. Hope you two will be on the same bill again sometime soon.

Enjoy the rest of the summer ....
love and thanks

Dear Chris,

I never realised how beautiful your music actually was until a friend told me about you. In Australia I don't think you're that well known. Just thought I should tell you, you have fans here too!

Hi there!
Been wondering for some time now as to what has happened to your story telling songs. It seems to me that over the years your songs have become more and more emotional. You call them spiritual, but emotional and spiritual are not the same thing, quite the contrary. You are a story teller with the ability to reach high. Set your emotions aside for a bit and reach higher. There is so much more for you to find, still, if you have the courage to move on. In a way you are swimming in murky waters, where you have the ability to immerse yourself in crystal clear waters. Reach higher, Chris, an we'll all be looking forward to something very new.

Love and much more
Sabine.

Dear Chris,

now the time is getting really hot here in Germany, much heat from the sun. It is so nice that they took all the letters here and put them into your guestbook in which you can read them all. After the concert one of the sellers told me that it is really true that you read the guestbook. I do it too and I read often in your MOTL site and in the Tournews. I have no Russian Television, so I cannot see you again for a long time. I think writing letters is a good idea to be near together a little bit.

What I wanted to tell you else is, that I was a little bit to late to come to Salem and there was a wonderful moment outside the castle walls. I asked for the way stepping along fields and in these fields I suddenly could hear your piano. It was "When winter comes" and filled the air outside. There was no hurry to go to the castle and outside the people laughed about this lately situation too.

Yesterday I found your grips to "The same sun" in a website from a fan from you. Now I can learn.

I hope you feel well at home again and please don*t be bad about me, when I write so much to you.

Good bye this night

Good evening Chris,

are you just back in Ireland? The whole day I think about your last concert in Salem. Maybe you will not be sticked in the hell. I could be too, that God says to Saint Peter "Throw away this stupid lance, it's really not your stile!" You know this song?

Today I could play "A spaceman is comming" with my guitar. I took your CD and listened to the song "The same sun" which you played in Salem too. There is an Am in, a C and a G and more I cannot find out, but it is played with guitar and I hope I will find the grips to it soon.

Have a nice day
I still love you

Dear Chris,

these holidays in Germany have been the best since fife years for me. I could see you, I could here you talking and singing at wonderful places, where I would never have been without you.

Just here, back at home was another quiet moment which came along to me near a castle in a little taverne outside by candlelight on my journey.

In my dreams you are really a part of my world. Sometimes I can hear your voice singing a song like "Songbird", or you come stepping along for a walk in a forest near very old buildings in a lonesome night in dreams. You see, some of your songs are going to be in reality, these one which you have created about dreams.

Just I'm hearing "Even now". I've never heard this song before. These two concerts where I could meet you have been so good, that I could not do anything instead of looking at you and listening, so that my photos, which I tried to make, did not become as sharp as I would like to see you in my memories about this wonderful moments.

For sure I will miss you here in Germany and I will try to play some songs from you with my guitar. Taht feels like you are near to me again. I have no grips seen in a songbook or in Internet about "The same sun". When I begin with Am,Dm,G,Em,Am,Am,Dm,G,Am, followed by Dm, GFG, GCGC, GCDG it is going on. I hope that are the right grips for this wonderful song which will always remind me to you stranger from the other side of the world. I hope we once will meet us again.

And congratulation for Rosanna for the result in her college in Dublin!

I still really love you, hugs and windkiss

Dear Chris!

Now your tour unfortunately is over! For me it was the first year, in which I visited more than 1 or 2 concerts. I had bought 3 tickets, but suddenly I ended up with visiting 5 of your concerts in 9 days! Wow, it was great, I could go on like this forever…..!
These 5 concerts all were very special for me:

In Bochum I fell in love with the Freilichtbühne even before the concert began. Then I even got a kiss of you, when I gave you my gift…. J A perfect evening, also with the perfect weather.

The next day in Krefeld you even made push ups (Liegestütze) in front of my friend Birgit and me when we brought our roses to you. Besides I'd had got to know that morning, that I had won a meet and greet before the concert in Lingen. I was sooo happy. So I had a reason to buy a ticket for another concert (in Lingen).

Lingen was the special day for me. I was so excited, that I couldn't stay any longer at home and drove to Lingen already after lunch. And it was just the right time, so I had the luck to see your soundcheck. Everything was perfect on that day. Even if the meet & greet was very short I loved these 5 minutes! Thanks for signing all my photos!

Meanwhile I'd also bought a ticket for Bonn, because I couldn't bear the idea of you singing only 110 km apart from my home and I wasn't there. Besides I didn't want to miss the greatest party of the tour - the only unseated concert! Well, it was the most exhausting concert, but the audience was singing and clapping from the beginning!

The next day it was my last concert in Nordkirchen. A beautiful venue - the garden of a castle! Before the concert it was raining, and when we could enter the venue everything looked wet and sad! And it was sooooo cold! But just before you started singing the rain stopped and the sky turned to blue. It must have been a great view for you from the stage over the audience, the big trees in the background and over that the far blue sky. I loved the concert and enjoyed bringing you my last rose…! It was so nice that you even passed my row twice during the Britney-part and even smiled both times at me J I didn't even freeze anymore. I was smiling the whole way back in my car after the concert remembering all the great times I had during these concert-days!

Thank you and come back soon!

Love,
Doris

Hi Chris!
Thank you for the great evening in Mainz! Despite the rain we enjoyed the concert very much. Your voice was really on top standart (and this even at the nearly end of the tour) and your "boys from the sound" did a good job too. Also thanks to guy from the merchandise who was so kind and allowed us to change the napkin from our son on his (of course empty" ;-)) desk. Our little son also really enjoyed his first concert! So it was a fluke that he was with us because we had only one ticket but then they sold tickets at the entrance (perhaps they added a few chairs?) and so we decided spontaneously to go all together go your show ;-)
Enjoy your freetime after the tour!

Liebe Westdeutsche Zeitung!
Bleibt also als Fazit: Erst informieren, dann kritisieren!
U. Gross

Thank you for

the warm atmosphere in Mainz on last Sunday. You showed that to be "great" does not mean to be "successful" for over decades. Rather, it is to remain just a pal who walks through the crowd, who enjoys to be a part of the party and to be able touch so many people with music. On last Sunday one of my dreams came true: I was in you concert. My wife and I thank you. Please come back again.

Health and happiness shall always be with you.

Dear Chris,

I came up with these lines after the concert at the Domplatz in Mainz on Sunday. My aunt and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves - despite the rain. When we went home after the concert, we talked about the great atmosphere especially during the last bit of the show and you joking about definitely going to heaven one day - or maybe not ... :) My aunt said - and I think she's perfectly right about this - that God would surely forgive you a few sins because of the happiness you bring to so many people. I don't know whether I believe in God or not but I do believe that there'll never be a day too dark to be lit up by one of your songs!

Thanks for a wonderful evening!

Love, Tanja

P.S.: There was a very positive article about the concert in Mainz in the "Mainzer Rhein-Zeitung" today.

Hello Chris,

for nearly 21 years I love to hear and live your music. For so many moments in my life, there were a song from you, in which I found comfort or luck.

Your concert in Dortmund 2004 was nearly the best I´ve ever seen with you (very much in the years).
Last week you stay in Nordkirchen-only 10 km from my home - and sure I was there!
After all the years, all the music, all the concerts and CD´s - I was very near to you and you give me your hand.
Although I was 36 years old - this were a very important moment for me!
Thank you for that!

See you in the next concert!!

I would be very happy about a copy of this scene or a photo, but it seems to

thank you so much for the wonderful concert in Schwetzingen. I very much enjoyed again your songs of the "Road to Freedom" album - but also very much
"Shine on" and "My Lover is" after a long time. As usual it was a perfect mix of old favourites and new songs.

Hope you will come back to Germany soon!

Dear Chris,

just at this moment I have seen the last entry in your MOTL and in your guestbook. Well, it is good to see that you have sometimes singing fans on your stage too. Now, trying at home with my guitar, I can see how difficult it is to get sure in one song and how much work you must have done all your life to get so much songs into your brain and the melodies into your hands to play these grips and notes with guitar and piano! It is really a great work from you creating so much songs. I have never seen such before in my life!

I hope that you will come not so late in a few years back to Germany, like it is a wish in the guestbook. I hope I can see you a little bit earlier again. Perhaps next year? or "before this year is over"

Thank you for this lovely way to contact you here.

Dear Chris - best live performer on earth,

thank you very much for the show in Schwetzingen (my 1Oth CdeB concert). Yesterday I saw that you were absolutely concentrated on your performance, and you gave really 100 percent from the first second until the last second of the concert. Your voice was better than ever before - unbelievable! In Schwetzingen you surpassed yourself. Now you have definitely reached the top of the hill. Even my husband who is no fan has to admit.

Thank you for singing very powerfully ("Shine On" and "Up Here In Heaven" ...). And thank you for singing very emotionally ("The Journey" and "The Snows Of New York"...). In fact you made/make people happy. But the most important thing is that you are fine. Next time I "have to" hug you for everything.

Love, Gerlinde

P.S. Walking the long way from the parking place to the venue many people really looked at me mockingly/scornfully, because I was packed with flowers and sparklers. Anyway - I hope you liked the roses ... Don´t worry about me - I´m okay again.

Dear Chris de Burgh,

it has been a wonderful night with you there in the Wülzburg. You did never sing out of tune! And I really have found this man who has been the lovely singing stranger on my covers for such a long time in my life. You brought back the song in which you have been a youn man with the wish to go away with a ship.

In my past I often was sitting in a little room hearing long stories and tales from you earliest records and sometimes a journey happened with a very good friend of mine. Oh, I'm so happy about this rainy evening here with you and all the singing people. Well, it was not Paris, but you reminded me stepping up on the Eifelturm, looking over this town, looking to the places of art and it is wonderful to get some experiences back through your songs. Here in this town it feels more like in "Moonlight and Vodka".

Well, why did you look so strong to me?
A little time later I was lucky to see you smiling, making jokes on the stage and there I felt that my old coverChris is here again in reality in my life.
I think you don't know how this feels, but I'm just so lucky! See you soon in Salem. I hope I can stand as near as I could be here this night by you.

You have lost the letter which I could bring you. Don't be afraid about it. You can open it without any fear.

Sleep well

I like your voice and I hope your write a few more songs. Speciall I like your wonderful love songs and the songs about childrens. It was so great for me, if you could me a autograph, that would be the biggest moment of his life.
My adress is: Ortsstrasse 75, in 07381 Langendembach.
Thank you for all your music.

Dear Chris,
I´ve just read your note on MOtl,from 19.th July 05.- Please don`t mind, but may it be that there was someone really angry and hurt ?-I think you`re right with your note, but you see, people like this journalist just don`t have the same feelings like we do,and that`s a very sad and serious thing.
If good luck is to win some money somewhere and bad luck is to have a scratch at the car and nothing else, you may have a very simple life, but I`m not sure if I`d like to share this kind of life.Someone who listens to songs like "Sailing Away" or "St.Peter`s Gate"
without feeling anything lives on a point of view, where you are just not able to feel a little bit deeper. That may be easier often, but it is only half of what life can be.There are so many things that this kind of people will never be able to see,and this seems to me a very sad thing. And I think a lot of bad things in this world wasn`t to be,if all the people felt a little bit deeper. Those who doesn`t,like this journalist, can`t understand the way we feel, when we hear your songs.
So he himself is really a very poor man,
even though he doesn`t know - or especially of this.-What you don`t know you can never change. ...By the way,I was at your concert in Nordkirchen...Did I say Hannover was on top ?

Hello Chris,

wherever you are this day, maybe still in the North of Germany, I waited for you here for a quarter to an hour afterwards we had a nice talk in the Taverne near the castle, which is now going to become a center of culture this year.
Have just seen your entry about the Hurrican song. And I can only tell you here it feels to be in another century in the upper town of this little city. It's just like "Sight and touch" and it feels very good to see the weapons in front of the castle. I have heard there is place for 600 people. Perhaps your concert agency can contact this town that you could come here too and play.

A little bit sorry about it that we could not meet today.

Good drive to the south

Hi Chris,

I've been a fan of your music now for over 20 years and it has (as I mentioned in the MotL section) been the soundtrack of my life to a very large extent. So I wanted to say Thankyou for sharing your talent with the world.

I am, myself, a singer/songwriter/musician in a local band and as such I have a very broad knowledge of songs and a catalogue of them to listen to (Somewhere around 11,000 songs so far) but I always come back to your music.

I've always wanted to write a book for some reason and yesterday I listened again to one of my faves; "Just another poor boy". Now the references to the story of Jesus are obvious but I thought how great would it be to write a book set in modern times about a Messenger who is villified for his beliefs and thoughts (I can relate!) so I'm setting about writing it!

Again, Thankyou, after twenty years of listening to you, there is so much I'd love to say but I don't want to bore you!

Much Love,
Steve

It is so wonderful to listen and sing to your songs on the concerts. Every song of you is written with a lot of love and has a special meaning. And your performance is graet too. When I´m happy, your songs make me even more happy and when I´m sad, the carry me. I will always come back to your concerts! Please keep on writing your fantastic love songs and anti-war-songs!

after the wonderful concert in Bochum last week I now had another fantastic evening in Bonn on Tuesday. And again you were amazing ! I can't believe that this tour is over for me now, I was only able to attend these two concerts although I would have loved to travel around Germany with you and see you on every single occasion.

So right now there is just one wish: please come back next year !! Until then I guess I have to survive with the help of all your CDs and especially the last one recorded in Dortmund during the most fantastic concert I have ever been to !

Thank you for your music and for being the way you are !

Hello Chris,
a bit late but from the bottom of my heart congratulations to your Solo concerts. I have been to "that" famous Dortmund concert in November and lately on the Freilichtbühne Wattenscheid. (I posted two question at MOtL about that latter). You are one of those singers where a concert is live and therefore really makes a difference to a CD however perfect the sound was mixed. The atmosphere simply is wonderful. Though I started to be your fan in 1988 at the age of 15 it took me until the Nokia Night 2000 to see you live on stage. There always was something to prevent me from going. You seemed to run away from me without even knowing me - for example I desperately wanted to see the "Beautiful colours" tour with the orchestra and you went to Paris when I had to be in Münster and came to Münster just after classes started for me in Paris. I even tried to contact you when you were scheduled to be in Dortmund 1993 and ask you to be our prom night's special guest because most of our class adored your songs and I was told by the one in charge you would not come to Dortmund anyway and if we'd like Udo Jürgens instead (we politely refused). Funny, now I have got job, kid and husband I somehow manage to attend a concert of yours. Let's hope this will go on for a while, I am already looking forward taking my daughter with me and she's only two years old.
You do not seem to mind to be called Chris, so I did so. I felt a bit clumsy when starting this posting and the other one on MOtL because I never addressed someone in a context like this. But seeing how you really seek contact to your fans during the concerts I hope I have not yet trespassed that invisible boundary of politeness.
Thanks especially for giving fans this opportunity to get in touch and spending your time listening, answering and making your fans really feel special to you. They must be given the fact you go to extraordinary lengths for them - and before I do with this posting (I am getting carried away somehow) I stop here.
Greetings, Simone

Hello Chris,

you like the same James Bond like I like most. Wonderful to see! How could you get a friendship with him?

But be sure, the most lovely singer in my life is Chris de Burgh, the same man like you. That's not a dream. And no agent like Bond can can do anything about your songs.

Well what do you think about a new musician relationship to Paul McCartney?
The musiccenter in Ingolstadt likes most the Beatles. I know that you like them too.

Dear Chris!
...I can`t believe - I stood right in front of you and said - well, nearly nothing!
The Bonn-concert (Krefeld was great, this evening was wonderful,fantastic,...)- after the soundcheck we waited for you, Dagmar and me. Dagmar called "Chris, come to the door please" and I couldn`t believe - you did! I was to shy to touch you, just said "Hi Chris" and tried to get the rose out of the paper.
You signed Dagmars Shirt and I woke up and asked you to sign my CD. (Very important: your left arm touched my right arm! Sorry, I won`t wash this arm anymore!!)
Then I gave you the rose and said - nothing! Just smiled like a teenager!
:-)))))))))))))))))))
I will never forget how you turned around and said "Thank you for the rose."

it is wonderful to see what you write about your Tour in 2005 in the MOTL today. Well, I have reserved a special place for you and me in this little Taverne about I told you. It would be a great surprise for me, if you could come there. Perhaps some fans of you can see this message too and will come to see you. That doesn*t matter.

You wrote that some are comming to every concert and travel with you. I think they have a great time with you. If you could read my messages you know that I have a dog and cannot come to every concert to you, what I would like to do. But I'm at home hearing your songs trying to play some and this are really wonderful Chris de Burgh holidays for me to read in your website. In my thoughts you are as near as you always have been in my life. Sometimes it is enough to dream from you wherever I am and wherever you are in the world.

Good next day here in Germany

I know it may sound silly, but I have always loved the song, 'Lady in Red' to the point that it was always used to help me when I had bad days. Whether it was not going to the middle school dance, failing a high school exam or forgetting a college class, I would just have Chris come on and tell me that he loved me in that seductive voice...and I would be that lady in red...and feel so much better. Of course, not until very recently did I know who sang it-thankfully, Itunes cleared it up. Forever growing up I wanted to be that "Lady in Red." Go ahead, Chris, and laugh!

Dear Chris,

sorry just at this moment late at night I have so much to laugh about your long long text about wines. I think I would dump down, because you have such a great knowledge from the different wines all over the world, but some of them are really tasting wonderful.

I wonder wether you have the time to answer questions in the MOTL site, because I thought you are doing your concerts and going to sleep afterward or jumping suddenly in the next town here in Germany.

I'm working hard with my computer here to make the Dia-Show ready for you, but it is really without a glas of wine by my side.

Well, it is wonderful to work something which is a simple thing for you and to see afterwards such a long answer about wines.

What do you think, do we all come to heaven instead of the hell, when we work so much on a computer? I hope this will have an end soon. I only want to sit down in your concert and hearing you singing next week.

Lucky day

Hi Chris,

Krefeld - what a difficult name for a city. But we have had plenty of British soldiers here since recently. So we are used to the English pronounciation. I hope your first concert in Krefeld in the Königs Palast was all you hoped for. We tried to welcome you warmly. It was such an emotional concert, Horst and I are still taken by it. Even on the ladies' after the concert, many kept humming the last song. *smile* I am sure you were glad we finally let you go... *g*

Horst and I were especially thrilled to hear your "Sondbird". The original by Eva Cassidy is OUR song from when we first met. She and her voice really gives one the impression of an angel singing - you are right. And we are certain that the angels cry like us...

To accompany you on your journeys this Irish blessing from us:

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
the rain fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again
may God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

Thank you for a wonderful concert. Take care of yourself and your family.

We had soo much fun not only at the concerts, but also while visiting different towns and simply spending time together. I haven't laughed that much since a long time.

Thanks once again for a beautiful evening with many of my favourite songs and a lot of nice stories. I wouldn't have minded to listen to both for many more hours. Too bad that you had to finish so early due to the neighbourhood. I'm just glad I also got a ticket for your concert in Bonn next week. Another summer evening with you and your music - something to look for after seeing you in Bochum yesterday !
Go on like this !!
Love, Evelyn

Dear Chris,

just another night here with hearing your songs. I've got the CD "River Sessions" and there is an interview inside. It is really difficult to listen to you, because it is so different from you songs, when you say something faster. I think soon I can understand the text. What I now know really from you, that you all your life worked hard to be such an important and good musisian as you are. It is wonderful for me to discover more and more from you here in this town. I hope my English is well enough that you can understand it.

And I can go on journey to see you in Salem too. I want you to know what a good time with you and your music this year is comming to me at home and in my life.

Thank you very much about it all

Dear Chris,
for your tour-start in Bremen,07/01/05,
my mum and me saved the money and bought
the tickets weeks ago.In the morning of 18.th of June my mum died suddenly.I tried everything, but couldn`t make her stay.I lost the best friend I ever had.
And I went to your concert alone. But when I stood in front of the stage with the other fans,I swear I felt her close beside me,singing along with us all.
I`ll go to your concert in Hannover too.
Thank you for all the beautiful years.

Hello Chris,

well I can see that you have not time to look into a chatroom while beeing in Germany. I've seen the situation in London too after the live8 concerts. It is terrible that this terrorism now comes to England. We thought it will have an end in the World as soon as possible after this attac in the USA.

I'm glad that you are in Germany and not there where you could be in danger, Chris. You are very welcome here and it feels good that you are in the near in my country. The days waiting to see you in concert are filled with a lot of work, but this moment is comming near.
That makes me glad.

Pray again that we will get no rain in the open air, you know your God will hear you like in the last year in Ingolstadt.

Have a nice evening, stranger from the other side of the world!

Monika

Hi Chris!

Last week we (Heike, Ela, Jutta and I) saw your concerts in Bremen and Beverungen. It was great to see you live again and we had much of fun these days.

And what sad things happened this week in London. What are "they" doing with innocent peoles lifes. My thoughts are often in London at time - thinking about the people who lost a loved person or people who are injured and all the ones who have to live with fear that such horrible things happen again. All over the world there is so much pain and so much fear and I often ask myself why peole cannot let each other live as anybody wants to live.

Tomorrow we will see your show in Calden and I´m looking forward to, but a piece of my heart will be near of the people who have to carry so much pain at this time.

All the best from
Ina

Hello Chris,

nice to see that your German tour has begun well. Thank you for the MOTL information about live8. I could see it and the most surprise for me was seeing the sunset in London on television. Our politicans have decided to help and I want to thank you for giving me this information about your website before I can look at it to late in the daily news on television. I stayed the whole night and have been really tired afterwards, but it doesn't matter, because you are comming soon and I am sure that your concert will be the best of all!

I also want to thank you for this fantastic night in Beverungen. It was for the first time that I saw you “open-air” and it was really amazing. Hi Chris,
Thank you so much for the great concert yesterday in Bremen. It was great. My mother and I were so happy. Especially later to stay in front of the stage for dancing and singing with you was fantastic for me.
You have my big respect. To walk through the peoples that's something what not everybody would do.

You are really a magic man. While the concert there was not rain and the sun was coming out too.
And you are so funny. Your jokes about the racing horse called George W. Bush were very good. Or the story about the fan. I had tears in my eyes so much I have laughed.

Thank you so much. We enjoyed the conert and hope that you will come back again to us in Bremen.
Best reagards

Hi Chris!
We saw you on german TV (Gottschalk & friends) some days ago and I must say it was great fun to see you 3 there with your guitars playing together (Albert Hammond, Mike Krueger and you) - we could watch for hours, and it seemed that you enjoyed it too. Even yesterday my husband brought me your new CD and while listening to it we remembered the last concerts. But why did you leave out nearly all the little talks between the songs? In my opinion these talks are one great reason that makes a live concert to something special. Oh - and why did you play a fantastic song like "St. Peters gate" so fast? This bothered us also in your concert we visited in Frankfurt (Main) last May. It's a pity if such a beautiful song sounds like you have only half a minute allowed to play it ;-)
Looking forward to see you in Mainz (unfortunately my husband and my litle son have to wait for me outside because I've got the very last ticket)!

Hi Chris,
I have just read the email you answered on 29th of June and I just can't believe, that you don't listen often to your inner voice. From where did you take your lyrics then? You just speak out what my inner voice tells me. Your songs are from that higher world that we reach sometimes in our dreams and we will finally reach it, when we die. I've made an inquiery to the Lord to tell me about you and he told me that everything is alright with you. I hope you understand the character of many of your songs. That they are inspired by that other world. See you on 22th of Juli on the Wülzburg! With best wishes! Dorothea
