Chris,

Your song has helped me through all these years. You are amazing. That song, 'Lady in Red' is amazing. That's amazing. That song reminds me of my girlfriend but I'm not sure if she exists. It's fascinating.

Chris, thank you for everything.

P.S Lets get back on the mainstream scene!

Wishing you a wonderful time on your forthcoming tour in Germany. I'm sure that it's going to be another fantastic time for both you and your fans.

I'm looking forward to Bonn, of course, though perhaps I could have bunked off and gone to all the Concerts if there was such a thing as being invisible ;-)

Dear Chris,

thank you very much for the gift of "Live In Dortmund". I really enjoy listening to your incomprehensible voice. Special thanks for your kind words. :-)

As far as your new tour is concerned: I wish that you have a wonderful stay (at nice places) here in Germany. I hope the audience will be always fantastic and the weather shall continue to be good! (For you - of course!).

I'm grateful for your precious answer (MOtL, June 28th - The head and the heart).

Thinking of you and sending all my love to you, Gerlinde

Hi Chris, it's really very great to visit this site of yours.By writing unfortunately I can't express my feelings but let me tell you that "LADY IN RED" has inspire me a lot that everytime I listen to that song, I feel it, but unluckily, I can't share these feelings with anyone as I don't hane any boyfriend, but I have a very close friend;whereever she maybe but when she heard this song, she always calls me.Truly, I feel the meaning of this song and I must admit that I love listening to these kind of songs and musics, all romantic.
I like writing poems but I cannot make them become songs and if you want I can send some to you!!!!!

And thanks again for this site and best of luck in your career.

Love,
Pamela.

Hello Chris , de Burgh,

I've got a message from a fan-Club to buy the new CD from your Liveconcert in Dortmund. I did and just I've heard you in a concert in which I could not go, because I had to work with a lot of children here. Thank you for making this CD. Now I can hear more songs of you which I've heard before.

One thing I wonder wether now again like in all the other concerts. From what do you get the power to play for more than two hours on a stage? I can only sit here in the heat of the night and listen, trying to understand your songtextes and hearing you voice, making some photos inspired from your songs and what's more? I hope it can be enough to show you that I really like you every day in my life.

There is no sunshine when you're gone, because I have to learn so much in English, what I never could learn before.

Greetings

Thank you to Sandra and JoeDeRouen to put my messages for you in your guestbook.

As a South African woman in my early fifties,I've had the priviledge to attend one of Chris's concerts in South Africa. That was in the late 90's. I'm still a HUGE fan and love ALL his music. "The Road to Freedom " has been a favourite. I pray that I will be able to attend ONE more concert before I am too old. Chris de Burgh wil always be able to move a ladie's emotions,no matter how old or young.

Hi Chris! I just bought tickets to see you in November here in St. John's. I have seen you a few times and really enjoy your music.I have a copy of your dvd "The Road To Freedom", and I really enjoy it! But I hope you will perform some of your classic music as well when you play here. I sure would like to hear you sing "Spanish Train" if that's possible, or perhaps' "A Spaceman Came Travelling". We will be 5 rows back from the stage and will surely enjoy whatever you perform. Can't wait - see you in November!

P.S. - Thanks for returning so soon!

Hello Chris,

today I found a good answer from you for a problem of me in the MOTL. I really cannot answer with love to people who had done something really bad to me, so I took some of your songs in my mind, those about the devil, who stood above someone's bed, and sang and sang it again. Too the song of "wite down the words about how you cried.." and it helped me in a wonderful way. I could see the dead they have done to me very clear with your words and I wrote and wrote the whole way as they did it, but the justice here was not really interested. So I don*t think that justice always can help me. Your songs are better, they have a powerful melodie and a wonderful strange language, with words in it which can explain some parts of this bad life I had many years before. Now I'm looking forward to the other songs of you and I can find very much better experiences and pictures in as I ever had before!

In "The journey" I could see my journey to the hills with an old friend and in the "It's a rainy night in Paris" too!
I was really surprised as you played it in Ingolstadt. And at the moment I have done the best photos I've ever made inspired from some of your songs, which I've heard on CD.

Good night for you

Dear Chris

Thank you for replying to my question. Your reply was thought provoking, and complete, and struck a cord. Also your idea to emit emotions of love towards those who criticise or condemn you is a thought that I shall always remember and use in my everyday life. You have always been an influence since I first found your beautiful music and ways, and I thank you for all you have given me.

Hi Chris!
How many times did you tour in Canada during the past 22 years?... Well, that is how many times I went to see you in concert (add 1 or 2 cause some times I've seen you both in Montreal AND in Québec City). First time I was 13 years old... Now you are coming to my hometown, Trois-Rivières, and I got a seat in A-row! I even hoped you might be available to come out ant sing to my wedding (let say Satin Green Shutters or In a Country Chuchyard 1st verse)but you are busy with a concert in Ottawa! If you could arrange anything, I can be flexible with the date in november... Many in my family are fans (aunt, cousins, mother,...) Why not meet them!

Hello Chris,

oh, sorry this day, when I was out to make photos inspired from a Song from you "Streets of London" I took place at my laptop and wanted to write you a letter again and again. But later I had the chance to hear your CD "Beautiful dreams" beginning with "High on emotion" for Diane. So I cannot believe that the other songs you did in this CD are not especially for her.

I think it is better for you when I don*t write so much in your guestbook.
A long time I dreamed me inside your songs away from a cold reality here into a warm arm to a man whose music filled my life after the death of my father with power to do my work here.
It helped me very much to be in the near to you about the CD'S. Thank you.
I really hope that it is not to bad for Diane, when she can see that other women are inspired from your songtextes, when she stands behind your success in Music with her inspiration.

And I hope that some songs from you are comming from your own inspiration, because I wish you are the man who is behind these wonderful songs.

Sleep well Chris

The question from Dr. John Crook in MOTL and Mr.de Burgh's answer was very exciting news. Although many people in the United States don't know who Chris de Burgh is and have not been able to enjoy his music over the years there are many of us who would be delighted for him to perform at any location in the USA. I have seen him in Canada but to have him here would be very special indeed.

Your music is heavenly! Your voice and your lyrics are voice of god.

I have all your songs, all the albums and almost all of the singles, .

Dear Chris
I have listened to your music now for over 2 decades. It has got me through some pretty bad times as I travel the world's oceans 9 months out of the year.
I moved to the States in 1988 and I really miss not being able to catch you in concert or even get a DVD of you that works over here.

Reminissing, I recall singing "Just Another poor Boy" with a cook from Liverpool in my cabin in a hurricane in the N. Atlantic 20 years ago. We were scared but your music took us away for just a little while.

Anyway, if you or someone who has video/dvd formatted for US systems, please e-mail me back. Oh yeah, Chris........Please tour the States soon

Cheers Chris and Thanks for the great tunes

hello chris

I've seen that you try to read all the messages on the guestbook everyday and also on the mailing list.

I hope that we will seeing you in france in concert later this year or early in 2006 because I've read that you are trying to make plans for a venue in canada so maybe one date in france after will be a good present for us.

I recently opened a web site dedicate to you in french, I hope you have seen it and I will be happy to have your comments in any means you can be. I use "chris de burgh" name to help the others french fans to re discover your talent, voice and music and to help everyone to learn the essential about you in french. It's very difficult to find news and olds cd's of you in france. for me it's easy but for many of your others fans if they don't have an internet access they can't listen your music and I'm sad about this.

In anyway I am very proud to represent your name in france. because we need you. your lyrics are so powerfull and they gave me a right way of life. You are so simple so present in your concerts, close to the audience like "britney" !!!. You are the best for me.

so dear chris I am writing regulary on the yahoo list but I met new fans and I'm very happy of that because they keep in touch with you and it's a link to you.

bye bye laurent paris france

today it's a sunny day in paris

if you remember on the last paris concert I have write on a big piece of tissue IT'S YOUR NIGHT IN PARIS and we gave you a small teddy and you sang with him " a spaceman came travelling " on the micro !!!!

Hi
Many years ago I was a huge fan of Chris de Burgh. I collected all the records at the time (until 1994?).
Anyone interested in buying my collection of Chris de Burgh long play records? (not CDs but LP records!)

Please email me: valensianmasquerade@hotmail.com

Hello Chris,

Re:- MOtL today 7th June - about venues and audience response..

Many thanks for your lovely reply to my question on MOtL today.

You are giving some very detailed and personal replies to many of the current 'batch' of questions! I'm sure that this is very much appreciated by those who submitted questions and by everyone reading your answers.

I have to say that I loved your answer to mine very much! I also trust that I'll see you lots more times in the future!

Hope that I am forgiven for being frivolous about the question on being invisible?

See you soon!

From the heart!

Chris R

Dear Chris,

...just wanted to send many congratulations on the success of "The Road To Freedom". After the first listening to the new songs, it was at once clear to me that this album is the best you have ever done. When I think of "The Words 'I Love You'" and "The Journey" ... I agree with you: The key must be the deep ideas (Look at MotL on June 4). Thank you.

As far as your solo concerts concerned, I absolutely love them. And your combination between old and new songs - you do it right!

Now I'm looking forward to the CD - Live In Dortmund.

Love and missing you, Gerlinde.

P.S. I don't know, if you are interested in, but I am so sad at the moment - though I'm surrounded by many swallows (yesterday six ones sat in a row. It was such a lovely sight and meanwhile they have built five nests). The reason of sadness is: The first day I was away on holiday one of "my" favourite horses

It's exciting news that you will be in Canada this year. Saw your concert in Quebec City last time you were there and will look forward to seeing you again. Maybe we will visit Montreal this time.
Of course, even better would be a concert in the USA.

Dear Chris,

It’s me again :-). I’m sorry for it has taken so long to answer to your question of MOtl. You know, it really requires a bit of thought and you have to take time, you can’t just start at once writing down something.
Referring to the question whether being invisible or not, I suppose it’s conflicting. On the one hand I actually would like to be invisible. You can do what ever you want, you would never have the feeling of being watched and you are able to go to every place you want. I often wish myself being invisible for example in unpleasant situations or when you just don’t want to be seen caused by different reasons... Then of course being invisible is quite safe, nobody can harm you and you never have to be scared. You needn’t to be careful at all.
On the other hand I suppose this life could be quite lonely, too. It depends on being invisible all your life or just when you want to. This is a very important difference. If you were actually invisible forever nobody would notice you at all, for nobody is able to see you and therefore can’t be aware of you.
So these are my thoughts if you think realistically about this topic. For it is actually impossible to be or to get invisible you can just start dreaming away... I myself would accompany you to every place you go :-). To every concert I came with you and I would sit beside you at your piano because this is the closest place to you in a concert :). Well, I actually remained glued to you and you wouldn’t get rid of me anymore... But I couldn’t get on your nerves, for you didn’t know that I’m there at all. But this again is strange because I don’t know if I got much out of it when you would ignore me. Well, as I said it is conflicting...

For you being invisible from time to time could be quite handy, I guess. You could walk wherever you want to and no thousands of people came to you because they recognised you.
So I suppose for all famous people this could be a rather good solution for living a normal life.

Thank you for expressing your thanks for the messages on your guestbook. This few lines meant a lot to me, for it is an assurance that you actually read them yourself and also I just had had written a message to you :-). So I was immediately inspired and encouraged to write another one. I could write to you all the time because I always feel happy while doing that and it diverts me.
Also thank you for so many answers in MOtl and your report. I love everything you write, so even if I’m not interested in and don’t know much about football it was quite interesting to read your message and I loved it jolly much. I love everything which you love – so maybe I should start getting interested in football... ;-)
In fact I enjoy reading your answers, everyday it’s a light in my life. Always I look forward to it like a child getting a present. Apart from this it actually helps me forming an own opinion. You know, for school when we have to write argumentations in German as well as in English and of course just for life. Today (Friday) I had to do oral examination in English and I was very afraid and excited. Five people in a group have to immerse themselves into role plays. Then you have to discuss from that point of view for about 25 minutes, 5 minutes per student are supposed. Mostly I was afraid of the topic because if you don’t know anything about it, it's actually very hard to talk about. But it was OK, the topic of my group was "Germany is searching for the superstar" and I had to be a TV viewer who was against such sort of shows. In that direction you told us many things, so I began to argue "If you want to be a star you have to start from the beginning and it’s hard work to get a long-term star..." So again in this situation you actually helped me subconsciously. I’m sure you already had answered to someone asking what you are thinking about such kind of shows. Now I wanted to search for this question but I couldn’t find it, for it must have been more in the last years. So I became aware of how many things you already have written! It could be a really fat book, maybe even two or three. It’s actually amazing! You know, the many, many questions are distributed among people all over the world, everybody is asking one question, but you alone have to answer to this huge amount. Well, I’m really impressed...

Generally in fact I learned all my English from you. You know, if you are really interested in something you learn much easier and it goes by itself. So when I got to know you my English improved and developed immediately :).

You are actually right saying that animals bring an enormous of affection and love into people’s lives. I have a dog, too, I suppose I already told you some time, I love him so much and he is all for me in my life. We have always been together and he accompanies me in every situation. Unfortunately now he went with my father on holidays. So I will be only a half person for long two weeks. I hope I will get over this time very soon... Of course, what are two very weeks? For me it seems to be very long at the moment... Nobody is there who is looking forward to when I’m coming home or when I’m getting up. Nobody is greeting me in such a lovely way...

By the way, my dog Nico is also 9 years old. He is a chocolate coloured short-haired pointer mixture, I suppose Labrador could be also involved, so Milly and he surely would harmonize with each other, I guess!! :-)

Sorry, this messages turned out to be a bit longer as intended to be...
Thank you very much for being there :)...

With love and respect
your big fan Julia (18)
xox

P.S.: Even this message is almost too personal for public, but it just works well, it’s almost on the border, but it’s still OK, I suppose.

Double P.S.: I hope you have already received my letter by this time...

Dear Chris,
only to think about being invisible is scaring me! Because it means to be unable to react. In fact I can't do anything if nobody can see me. No way to give love to my husband and just so to receive it. No way to be part of our childrens' lifes, to direct and teach them. To show our two daughters what's significant in life! There's no way fo me to pass by one very important fact: to answer for everything you've done. I do that for all my faults - at least I hope so! Being invisible would mean to live without conscience.
All people should bear the consequences of their actions - being good or bad! And in fact that's the best way to learn being a 'good' person, based on moral experiences!
To live conscious each minute a day is not easy - but listening to your songs and thinking about their meanings opens the mind and make it a great deal easier to change every day from failure to a successful human community - step by step. So you make the world every day a big bit better! You couldn't do that if you'd be be invisible. And so could no one else make the own life a bit better. The desire to be invisible is maybe a possibility for people to avoid the results of their former doings.

By the way, reading MOtL and your Guestbook as much as composing now and then a letter to you gives the side-effect of brushing up my English-knowledge.

Take care of you and your family,
Andrea.

Hi Chris! Your first concert of the upcoming tour in Germany is on the Galopprennbahn (a horse race course) in Bremen. Perhaps you can sing “Thunder Gulch” or at least a part of it????? And please, sing “Here for you” at all concerts. It was really a highlight in Dortmund.

Hi Chris,

I've read your answer to the question of being an invisible person. It was very interesting. You said you're interested in hearing our answer to this, so here is mine.

I would like to be an invisible woman for the following reasons:
It would be interesting to change things that should be changed. Not only in political matter, also things in personal life if you think it's necessary. I don't know if you know the show from the 80's called "Quantum Leap", it's similar to what I have in my mind about changing things.
Furthermore it would be a good chance to escape from daily life and to be alone if you want to. This is not easy when you don't know where to find such a place for yourself, you know. I was searching for this place for my whole life now without success and hope to find such a place when I can go over to Ireland to work and live there. I'm taking part in a course now which has the purpose to get a job in Ireland. Perhaps I have more luck there than in Germany.
So I would use the ability to be invisible for things you described in your answer like changing things that shouldn't be and to escape.

All the best to you and your family,
Monica

Hello Chris, To be invisible? I think you have opened a 'can of worms' with this one, especially the ladies :-) Seriously though, if I could be invisible for one day I would like to go to your recording studio and observe how you record your songs, I would find that extremely interesting. Then I should like to become visible again and invite you and Diane to join my husband David and me for a meal 'At the end of a Perfect Day'.
Love as always, see you in Germany next month, can't wait,
Jacqueline
