Hello chris,
In response to the invisible person question, I think that it would have been very interesting to have seen what actually went on behind closed doors at the Vatican when the Cardinals were choosing the next Pope.
Also CONGRATULATIONS on your football team win.
Cheers Julia.

Dear Chris!
What a pleasure to read your report about how you experienced the football-match last Wednesday in Turkey!!! Well, it's nice to see that you write about the match in the same way as we (your fans) write about your concerts……! (The same enthusiasm with which you talked about Formula 1 in the TV-report "Höchstpersönlich", 1 year ago.)
I didn't watch the match on TV, but my husband and my 13-years-old son did so, and they always came out on the veranda, where I was sitting, enjoying the warm summer-night, when another goal was scored. They were very excited and hardly could believe that Liverpool suddenly had scored 3 goals! I finally went indoors when the penalty started. I love those exciting moments!
Today I showed your football-report to my husband, whose music-taste is rather different from mine….. So he never shows much interest, when I talk about you, your music and your concerts etc., which usually happens often and every day. But this time he was interested and read the whole report and said, he liked it! (Perhaps you one day should compose a song about football.)
On Saturday I also had a nice time. I'd invited 3 friends for a "CdeB-evening", which meant, we met at 18.00 p. m., sat in front of the TV (we've got a rather big TV-set with 128 cm screen diagonale) for 6 hours and watched videos with songs and interviews of you! It was like you sitting amongst us in the living-room. We enjoyed remembering old concerts, especially the one in Dortmund in November 2004, where we got to know one of my guests. She even travelled the 60 km from Bochum to Dinslaken, to spend the evening with us! And we had fun planning the concert-visits in July! - Only 1 month left!
I'm curious to know, if your shows will be exactly the same as last year of if you have exchanged some songs. Perhaps you'd like to play "The tower", which I really love very much, since I heard you singing a part of that song at the soundcheck in Dortmund. Or you could surprise us with a totally new song!
Yes, for me you can give a concert in 2 or more parts - one day with old songs, the following day with newer songs etc. I'd come ever day, you can be sure!
Besides I'm glad, that you aren't invisible ;-)
Best wishes and take care of yourself.
Love,
Doris

Dear Chris,
regarding your question on MOtL from May 30th.. well, I am not sure what I would do if I was invisible. It's not a state I would love to live in. Of course there are quite a few cheeky things I would like to do. ;-) But I think I would be desperately unhappy. In my opinion it's important that people are visible, so that they can leave footprints in other people’s lives.
I imagine I joined a party or a concert but I couldn’t enjoy it with others, only for myself. There would be something missing. No one could see me and therefore no one would remember me, I would be lonely. I wouldn’t leave something and isn’t this what makes life so great? All the different people, who leave something special in our lives when they cross it. The same for us, we leave something in their lives with a smile or a few nice words. And their happiness comes back to us.
It’s like in your song, Chris. "I have been here and I have taken part, I’ve made a difference to the world, I have been here, just read my name!"
With kind regards from Berlin and see you soon on tour!! ;-)

“Yes, I would like to be an invisible person for the following reasons:”
I would be at the very first Match at Old Trafford next season and leg the United players up throughout the match. 11 red cards for diving - sounds good to me LOL!
(Sorry Chris High - I know that you're going to say "Bitter Blue!" but I couldn't resist it).
Congratulations also to CdeB and all Liverpool supporters everywhere! I'd like to say something as a Man City fan - what's a cup?
Best wishes,
Steve. (Bitter Blue :-))))

I have been listening to your music since I first heard Don't Pay the Ferryman in 1983/84. I enjoy how you can tell an entire story within the confines of lyrics. I have so many favorites that each time I begin to create a list of songs, it always is 20 or more songs long. The song that seems to have the most impact on me right now is from the Road to Freedom album, "The Road To Freedom". But another is the song, "The Tower" -- I love the imagery.
I have heard rumors of a Canadian tour in November. Have dates and locations been scheduled? I have desired to see you in concert for a very longtime and I am hoping that the tour includes a visit to Victoria or Vancouver.
What was your inspiration behind the song "Up Here in Heaven"?

Hi Chris,
In response to your recent MOtL answer:
Although as a Manchester United fan living on Merseyside it pains me to say it, Liverpool did really well to come back and win the ECL and thoroughly deserve to go into next years competition.
It's bad enough having an ECL with so many non-champions involved (United included, by the way) but not to have the European Champions in the European Champions League is non-sensicle.
The trouble is that somebody will have to make way and UEFA won't want to be seen to capitulate.
In a way United are to "blame" for this too, as our recent European successes(not just winning the REAL treble in '99, either) created the 4th spot for entry into the ECL, by which Liverpool qualified this year.
Anyway, here's hoping you get in to defend the title and congratulations for winning it to all who follow them (Grief, that was hard to say :-)) ).

Hi Chris,
Re:- MOtL 30th May - regarding being invisible...
Goodness knows what sort of response you are going to get from your fans on this one - you did ask!!
Well my first reacton was - shame on you Chris ;-) I'm sure that with your GSOH you would have thought up some mischief that you might like to get up to if you were invisible!? Maybe you did and it was too risque?
If I could have the chance to be invisible here's my answer - then again perhaps I'd better not say - it is definitely something that I shouldn't even be thinking of!
I hope that you enjoy reading the Guestbook over the next few days!
See you in Bonn - I'll duck O.K. ?
From the heart!

Dear Chris,
how are you?
Good news! We are going to see us quite soon :-). I will come to one of your concerts in Weissenburg on July 22nd! This is what I live for and I’ve been looking forward to it for more than half a year. Through all sorrows and pains this thought has lifted me up. I’m gonna sit in the third row, so very close to ;-). Nearly every day I dream of this event and you know, sometimes I start fancying just wanting so much to be with you, to get to know you more in person. This is not a mistake but an illusion. Illusions can come true ...
This message will be continued in the letter I sent to you. I just want to be sure that you reach my words, so I wrote it here a second time, only a part of course, you must get curious about it :-) and it’s too personal.
I need so much your songs
your music to my life belongs
Take care
with love and respect
your big fan Julia (18 years)

Dear Chris,
Firstly, thanks so much for all the wonderful years of music.
I have had so many incredible memories and experiences that include your songs - the two most indelible coming 26 years apart.
Humour (and honour) me in reading about them
In 1979 (I think), I was an art student, studying various techniques, one of which was pointilism.
I had decided to do a pen & ink drawing of the cover of the Crusader album (for which I received an A), and it hung proudly in my home.
Just before my 18th birthday that year, I found out that you were coming to Montreal for a concert, but that it was sold out. I had a dear friend who knew someone at the radio station, and he arranged some free tickets for me.
I was to pick them up at the station on the day of the show and coincidentally you were to be there for an on-air appearance.
I knew it was unlikely that I'd get to meet you, but I brought my drawing to the station anyway, and left it with the DJ to give to you.
Not sure if you ever really got it, but in my dreams, it was always framed and hanging somewhere in your home...
That night I went to the concert, and was touched to my soul.
26 years later (yesterday as a matter of fact), the 44 year old me was at my weekly Bible Study class. I am Jewish, and attend a Catholic study group - a whole other story - and find the learning quite amazing.
We were studying the Crucifixion, and the reaction of the people. The first thing that came to mind were the lyrics to Just Another Poor Boy -
Some soldier said "Who was he anyway?"
I prefaced my comparison with the usual "Now here comes Robyn's weekly unconventional reference."
My jaw almost dropped to the floor when one of the other women - a grandmother of 6 and very proper - broke into a huge smile and said that she was thinking exactly the same thing, and that she had been listening to Spanish Train & Other Stories regularly over the last couple of weeks!!
We couldn't come from 2 more different circles of life, but became bound to each other by the joys of religious study, and of your music.
And now I find myself digging up the old cassettes of the albums I have not yet bought on CD, ready to introduce your words and melodies to another generation - my 12 year old daughter.
I apologize for the length of these comments.
Even if you never read them, it will remain an honour to have had the chance to simply write them down, smiling, with each sentence, at long forgotten memories, remembered with the telling of this story.
Thanks.

Dear Chris,
I just want to tell you this little story, which happened this week. I was ordered to an action in a village, were we tried to reanimate a young father. Unfortunately, it wasn´t successful. My part was to stay with the family, taking care of them, because I have a special education for such cases. This man had his ticket from your concert, which you gave in the monastery of Benediktbeuren last July, glued onto the mirror in the corridor, where he died. The ticket was very nice, because there´s a smiling Chris on it! Sometimes, I looked to your photo and thought: "Chris, can´t you help me to find the right words for his family?" I nearly spent four hours there and I suppose, I did a very good job! Although, you haven´t been there in the reality (thank God!), you helped me a bit! You see, that´s another sad story, I´ve had with you! Take care of you and give me an answer, please! I hope, you know, what I mean! Love, Sabine

Dear Chris,
I am a Norwegian woman who have just been watching your concert on TV recorded at "Mysen" in Norway in August 2004 - and also the interview you gave afterwards.
I would like to share with you some of my thoughts/feelings while I was watching the programme and listening to your beautiful music.
You seem so kind, so gentle, so natural - so genuine! I immediately got the feeling you are an "old soul" (if you believe in that). My impression of you is that you are a very understanding/accepting and humble person - and you simply radiate nothing but LOVE!
You value yourself in a very healthy way, and all the things you spoke about afterwards in the interview just confirmed my impression of you. It made me cry because I so wish that everybody in the world would have the same genuine contact with themselves as you have. I feel you "come from" your soul-level (free from masks), and it touches my heart deeply.
I taped the programme and I keep watching it over and over again.
You give so much to the world Chris - just by being who you are! Thank you so very, very much.
I send you lots and lots of warm thoughts and wish you all the best in the world.
Big hugs from Vigdis

The spanish train album stands out as a jem of popular music, alongside the likes of the beatles and the floyds and is never properly recognized as the work of pure talent and mastered musical creativity. wish more music today reflected this ingenuity. from one musician to another, i only aspire to walk in this shadow, cheers old friend, rod

Hi Chris. Hope all is well.
I was thrilled to see that "Beautiful Dreams Live" was released on DVD since that album has always been my favorite of yours. In particular, I love those orchestral versions of "Shine On" and "Discovery." Unfortunately, after scouring the Internet repeatedly, I'm unable to locate a Region 1 copy, the standard for the U.S. and Canada. Will the DVD be released in North America?
"Quiet Revolution" was another of my favorite albums, especially "Love of the Heart Divine" and the title track. Ever since the attacks on 9/11, "Quiet Revolution" has been a song of great hope for me "that soon there will be change in our lives" and that "this quiet revolution can destroy the men of darkness with the light." Could you share your thoughts when you wrote this song, whether you still believe we'll "see a revelation in our time," and whether the song has taken on even more meaning for you as time has gone by?
Thank you so much.
Ed

Hi Chris,
I am one of your greatest fans since 1984 !
My favorite albums are both that you made with Rupert Hine : "Man on The Line" (ALL songs are perfect),"Power of Ten" (Where will be going, Separate Tables, By My Side, Celebration, Shine On) but also "The Getaway" (Where Peaceful Waters Flow (a masterpiece !!!), Borderline, On the Island, Sweet Liberty).
Chris de Burgh, Forevermore !!!
