Hello,Chris! I am glad to wish You and Your family Merry Christmas, HAPPY NEW 2006 YEAR, good health and great piece of luck! Thank You ever so much for You music and beautiful songs! Three monthes ago I bought 2CD "Live in Dortmund". Before that event I knew only "The Lady In Red" and several most famous Your hits. More than two hours I enjoyed Your magnificent concert! That was amazing! I discovered for myself THE GREAT UNIVERSE- Your wonderful songs and ballades! Now I have almost all Your albums, I love them and listen very often. I translate into Russian language the lyrics and tell my children about Your songs. I really love beautiful "The Girl With April In Her Eyes","The Same Sun", "Saint Peter's Gate" and more! And I was intensely touched by songs "Carry Me (Like A Fire In Your Heart)","The Snows Of New York", "Read My Name","The Words 'I Love You'". Really You became "such a good friend to me Through the thunder and the rain". And now "You and I will be forevermore". Thank You so much! And, please, arrive in Moscow again with Your wonderful concerts!!!
Excuse me, if my English is not very good. It's my first such a long letter.
With respect and best wishes Irina, Moscow.

Dear Chris,

wow, you answer a question of mine again.
This year couldn't end in a better way!
On christmas morning Heike got our fotos signed by you and this morning I've got an answer.
Thank you very much and I agree, the pope could have became a greater man, if he hd done a few more things for the really poor people. So I couldn't understand the people in Rome or the world although I'm a catholic.
Can't wait to see you in Dortmund and Düsseldorf together with my friends Daggi, Heike and Laurent.

Take care and always loving you

Hey Chris,

How exciting everything was !!! I really must tell you something!
Today, one day before Christmas, we weren’t really given lessons in school, so we went to the radio station in Bad Tölz not far from our school. Original because you got mulled wine for free, needless to say that everybody wanted to go there ;-), and we got to see how everything works and so on. It is only a very little one and actually they have never had so many people (20) inside their two small rooms (imagine how crowded it was). Guess what happened, for we all already were there every single one of us had to speak a few words, our name, favourite song and of course that our favourite transmitter would be “Radio Alpenwelle”. We got a list of some songs and artists and had to choose one of them. In fact I didn’t know them at all, so I was only willing to say anything if I might take a song of you !!! I would have taken “The same sun” but I had to choose “The lady in red”, how could it be else ;-), and excitingly called your (one and only, beautiful) name. As a matter of fact I am a big coward but, you know, for you I actually do everything... !
There you can see how a “survey” looks like, you just get a note and must tell what they say. But I’m not silly, I actually don’t say that a song is my favourite one when I don’t know or don’t like it at all ;o) !

Even there have been a lot of autographs of popular people on the wall, I looked around but no one of you. Apparently you haven’t been there, I suppose, it’s too small :-)))).

Have a nice Christmas, a happy New Year and maybe also great holidays (?). I don’t know if you will go to Mauritius this year again... Hopefully you already have got our Christmasbook by now.

LOVE,
yours Julia (18)

Bonjour Chris!

Un très Joyeux Noël à toi, Diane et les enfants.

My husband and I were at your concert in Ottawa on November 12th. What a night! Tout simplement fantastique! Merçi pour les souvenirs.

My husband and I are leaving the country for a few days today, therefore we had our little intimate Christmas soirée last night and exchanged our gifts. I had asked him for the Road to Freedom DVD OR the Live In Dortmund CD. Well he gave me both. So we watched and listen to your DVD last night and... *Sighs* :-)

We truly enjoyed your interview, also. You iron your shirts like a pro!

May the New Year bring you all love, peace and joy... And a lot of health.

Tu reviendras nous voir à Ottawa et au Canada dans un proche futur, n'est-ce pas?

Goodwill, peace and love to you from James and I.

Dominique.

Dear Chris de Burgh,

only two nights to sleep and the Holy Night will be. I like this fiest very much and I'm just dreaming from a white christmas with much snow. I don*t know how the Irish like to celebrate christmas, but I have seen at my laptop, that you will sing your "Songs of Praise" on BBC 1 to new years day. Isn't BBC an English broadcasting-station?

I am here in Germany and I cannot get BBC on television or radio. How can I get the chance to hear you singing "Songs of Praise" too? That would be one of my wishes for christmas to hear and to see you singing. Can BBC1 send this songs to one of our transmitting-stations in Germany, where I can hear you on newyearsday? Perhaps to the television-program Arte. And I would wish for christmas to get an information at which time of the newyearsday your songs will be send.

Just one thing I'm thinking about: Did you ever had the idea to take old english christmassongs and sing them on a CD? Sorry, that I am so silly about this broadcasting-stations-tecnology.

I would like to share this christmasfiest with you and that is the reason to send you a very old christmassong from Germany, which always brings us in a good mood:
---------
Leise rieselt der Schnee
Still und starr ruht der See
Weihnachtlich glänzet der Wald
Freue Dich s'Christkind kommt bald.
---------
Bald ist heilige Nacht
Chor der Engel erwacht
Horch nur wie lieblich es schallt
Freue Dich s'Christkind kommt bald.
---------
In den Herzen wird's warm
Still schweigt Kummer und Gram
Freude des Lebens verhallt
Freue Dich s'Christkind kommt bald.
---------

Best wishes for christmas Chris and for your family, wherever you are this time!

Monika

Hi Chris! I am pretty new to this web site although I have been a fan since 1983. I had been sulking because I was jealous of hearing about all the concerts that I could not afford to go to. So it pained me to come here, but now there are so many great features like MOTL, etc. so I keep visiting. You are my Chris de Burgh how could I not! I was at your concert at Marriott's Great America in Northern California in 1984. I was 14 and it was my first concert that I had ever been to. There are so many things that I want to say, but I'll keep it short for now and wish you and your family a Wonderful, Merry Christmas! I was practicing my French tonight at a Christmas party with my new friend from Africa so I say... Je vous souhaite(sp?) un Joyeux Noelle et une bonne annee! We had a wonderful time of drinking red wine and singing international Christmas songs around the piano. I think I massacred the Polish! Anyway, I will write again because, like so many, I want to share with you how through your music you have reverberated within my soul.

first of all merry Christmas-Time and a happy and of course successful year 2006.

I really love this site and of course I love the MotL Section. I am not sure if someone recognized this before but Chris was answering the 4th question from Chris R in the actual section. Is it because Chris R is asking sooooo many questions or Chris de Burg is just answering to thoose he knows very well. In fact I am a little bit sad that my questions weren´t answered so far... Any other thougts about that???

Love from Thommy

I am feeling very sad and nostalgic on this 25th anniversary of John Lennon's tragic death. Q-107 in Toronto is having an entire tribute day, today and I have been shedding tears and remembering all day. For me, this was the same as for those a generation ahead of me when JFK was killed. I remember that I was in my room listening to Q-107 on this day, 25 years ago too, when I was shocked with the news. I was just 15 and can't believe that my daughter is now just a year younger than I was at that time. It is also a bit strange knowing that I am now as old as John was when he died. I just wanted to let you know that whenever they have played any of the Beatles' songs today, that you played at your concert in Toronto recently, I at least smiled a little to myself when I remembered the fun time we all had with you that night. I know the point of today's tribute, "The Dream Never Dies" is to celebrate the life (not death) of John but I feel sadder today than I did then just for the fact that it was such a horrible, tragic loss of one of the world's great story tellers. I'm a music trivia junkie so I have enjoyed that part of today's tribute, as sad as it has been. Thank goodness for the technology that allows us to listen to all you wonderful musicians whenever we want to. I don't mean to be so down, I'm usually a very up-beat person, I just wanted to share these thoughts with all the rest that are feeling mellow today too.

Dear Chris
I don’t know how to explain my feelings about your music. When I was very young gilr my dad used to translate me your songs instead of telling me a fairy tales for goodnight. I listened to them an I wondered how positive must be a man who had wrote them. Now I’m old enough to translate them by mysealf. I listen to your music and still feel like a little girl. I belive that someday you would come and visit Poland, so I can see you not only on my DVD concert, but live. Your music is very important part of my life. I wish you all the best, and I still belive that someday my dream about seeing you will come true.
I will be waiting for you here, in Poland.
Love
Katarzyna

Hey Chris,

Your music has been a big part of my life since I was a child. I grew up with my parents listening to your music and them always going to see you in concert. My mom took me see you in Ottawa for my first live concert. I will continue listening to your music and pass it on to my children.

Hope you can fit Canada and especially Ottawa into any up coming tours.

Thanks again for the great music.

Hi Chris,

Sorry that I'm so late with another thank you - I was on a short break in Scotland! :-)))

Once again many thanks for answering my question on MOtL about the Grand Prix.

I was especially interested in your comment about racing on a personal level.

Maybe though one day we'll see you on the programme on T.V. where celebrites are invited to do a circuit after instruction with 'The Stig'? :-))

From the heart!

Chris R

Dear Chris - man on (the) line,

I love reading the Man On (the) Line section (= your words, your thoughts, your beliefs, your remarks...).

The explanation of "Here Is Your Paradise" and also your comments about "Sailor" meant/mean a lot to me, because these are two favourites of myself.

Special thanks to you for your words (MOtL: November 15 and November 20): "...I have a lot of love to give. It's almost like my heart is very full of love and I have a lot of it to share... I love to give... also I have strength to share... people out there who need help, who need reassurance, who need comfort, well I am in a situation where I have that little bit extra which I can share and hopefully it will make people feel better".

Thank you. Yes, it works. Nevertheless missing you - "a thousand" miles away - even now.

Please promise us that you take good care.

Love, Gerlinde.

Dear Chris,

in your first MOTL answer to me you mentioned I should go back into the question in the earlier part of it.
Well, that's right, that I think like you sang about the children and the guns. But there is a question in it too about a lullaby which remembers me to the song "Lady love go back to sleep, dry the tears in your eyes, but....", which I have heard very often going to sleep alone here in Germany.

Times go by and I found something new in your lyrics. The song "Much more than this" and "It's Me". And my most favorite part in it to go to sleep is hearing now "The autumn-leafes are falling on this old cathedral walls, there were candles in the darkness, singing in the chor, and reading......"and the whole words in that melody in this song.

Good night Chris, sleep well and dry the tears from your eyes

Monika

Dear Chris,

many thanks, that you have really taken the time to send me an answer to one of my lots of questions. In this sad times now you show me how your website can work. And I can see, here in this little room, what you have ment with this song "Lebanese Night". You get to know how happy can make me with this written lines. My most favourite songwriter and musician in the world, this beautiful young man, whom I could not see over two decades, has send me an answer with a very new technology from far apart.

Bonjour Chris,

Merci Beaucoup
