Dear Chris,

how are you?
Thank you very much for the four new songs. Words are not enough to say how amazing and beautiful they are. Especially I like the song “Little Angel”. It’s really very moving. They are all very moving. Actually I love the enhanced video very much because it’s so naturally.
When I watch it even more I want to be beside you…

The impossible impossibility

Well, you can’t imagine what happened to me! I bought the new CD, everything was OK and I watched the video on PC because we don’t have a DVD-player. There I was definitely of the opinion that the video can be watched on DVD.
I was so amazed of the video and full of love that I wanted to be able to watch it on TV by all means. Our neighbours always do have the newest technical things and I decided to ask them to take it on VCR cassette. Of course this was no problem and I jumped with my beloved CD to the house next to us. There I noticed with a shock that the video on CD is not a DVD! My neighbour always shows off and, you know, he does have got all the newest technical things but he doesn’t know how to get along with it. First he thought we can simply transform the CD with a special programme on PC. But this didn’t work. We tried the craziest things which could be possible. The whole weekend my only thought was how to get it on a VCR cassette. I thought I’m driving mad, hours and hours we tried different things but had no result.
After two days we gave up. I went home to listen to the new songs and what did I notice?! The CD-player couldn’t play the song “Kiss me from a distance” anymore. There was a big deep scratch exactly at this place.
So on the next day I had to go to another neighbour to look if hopefully only my old CD-player can’t read it. The funny thing was that they just had bought a new DVD-player by chance! Fortunately they could play the song without any trouble, but only on DVD-player because their CD-one is destroyed. So they couldn’t record it on audiocassette for me.
Wow, a very intricate and complicated thing…
After that we tried to play the video and, guess what happened, the DVD-player could play it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But again they couldn’t record it on VCR cassette because their recorder is too old and no more it can record.

Well, this is the long story of your new CD and me which is inspite of all a bit funny when I think back what everything happened.
Now I only have a CD with a scratch and no video which I can watch on TV… But I won’t give up. :-)

No matter where you are at the moment I love you very, very, very, very… much! I hope you have read or are still going to read my letter I sent to you to your birthday…

Take care after yourself!
With love and respect
your big fan Julia (17 years)

Hi Chris,

It was great to see you in Plymouth on 20th October. I had a lot of worries on my mind that night, but your voice and music had the power to cut right through them all and to move me. It was a big achievement for me just going to see you, but I'm glad that I did. Your magic got through to me just like it did in Cardiff two years ago, when funnily enough I was also going through a difficult time!

Your music really is powerful and deep - please don't give it up!

Concert - Liverpool, Anglican Cathedral, just an *amazing* concert and a wonderful, moving tribute by Chris to Liverpool - the city, the people and the team! He seemed to be genuinely loving performing this concert, and we certainly loved being entertained! His phenomenal energy and passion made this such a wonderful night - I'm just worried that this can't be repeated!

Regarding the issue of wich one is better, the solo concerts or the band concerts, I think they both are great. However I must say that in the band concerts, when he did the solo part, I always thought it was the best. Then a few years ago, Chris did a solo concert on the Jersey Island and this website had a contest for free tickets to it. I so desperately wanted to win them because I thought this would be my last chance to see what Chris was like in the mid '70s. Following that year, I saw him perform in Cardiff, South Wales and the band was great, but then this tour announced it would be solo, I was so eager to see him for 3 hours, so personally. While I haven't had the chance yet, I hope he will tour over here in the US or Canada. Bottom line is, to get a chance to see Chris as he was back when it all started is priceless.

Hello Chris, thank you for a wonderfull evening in Royal Albert Hall 19 October 2004. My wife and I spent our autumn holidays in London and would like to see the famous RAH. On the internet we found out that you were entertaining that monday. We were so pleased and were looking forward to the event. And certainly we were not disappointed. On the contrary!!! A most memorable evening! Have you ever been on tour to Denmark?
Best wishes

Hi..
Chris De Burgh is one of the best singers that have remained from 80's decade...there are a lot of singers that are destroying the real music nowadays !they don't know anything about music! ,and few artists like Chris are keeping the real music alive!
good luck,
Babak,from Iran.

My husband and I went to your concert in Groningen this year June, 9 days after we lost our little baby after barely 20 weeks of pregnancy. Altough we were still very much in grieve and tired, we had the feeling we had to go. An what an experiece your concert turned out to be!!
We knew our little boy could not be saved, and could not live in this world, we were able to have him baptised and gave him the name Maarten.
When we heard your song, it was as if you sang it especially for our son and for us. What a special treatment, an unforgetable experience!

Saw Chris on Sunday on his Road to Freedom tour last night it was in Bournemouth - it was wonderful. I got right to the front and shook hands with him. He has such lovely brown eyes. I can't wait until he does a tour again and will certainly be there. We drove down to Bournemouth from Cambridge and stayed 3 nights, so it was a lovely weekend and Chris' concert was the icing on the cake. I love all the songs - he is such a great performer - three hours on the stage with no break. Just keep coming back Chris see you next time.

Hi Chris,

I just wanted to say thanks for the fantastic concert at the Cathedral on Saturday night, it was wonderful to see you again. It was a fabulous setting and a remarkable night. I certainly did get a shock when my name appeared on the TV screens during "Read My Name"!! The only sad part for me was that I didnt get to meet you this time but I hope to see you again next year.

Dear Chris (and all fans*

I attended the concert in Bournmouth on Sunday but due to being late in booking ended up in a seat way at the back pinned to the wall.

Am I the only one to be frustrated watching all those in the main body of the hall watching a 3 hr concert without moving a muscle?? How can they sit still.
At the end I managed to escape to the front of the stage!!

Yet another fantastic performance, and look forward to many more!

Regarding the MOtL question today, I have only had the pleasure of seeing one Cdeb concert and it was solo. The concert in Quebec City was completely mesmerizing for two elderly ladies.

Hopefully I will see another concert before Mr.de Burgh quits touring or I quit traveling. He is a true entertainer!

Hi Chris, I've been reading, with interest, the entries regarding your last 4 fours concerts. I mentioned before that I was glad the R.A.H. was my last concert because it was out of this world. However, reading that Hubie played with you on stage in Liverpool and Bournemouth, I am so sorry I missed this. I was hoping he would appear at the R.A.H. Perhaps this venue was just a bit too over-whelming. My wish to see him playing alongside you may be fulfilled in the forthcoming DVD. Let's hope so. Have a good rest but hurry back!!!

Have seen you in Amsterdam, RAH and now Bournemouth. Each one was brilliant but different in their own way. Amsterdam we were nearly late due to the football but being at the stage a new experience; for RAH I was with my husband so I was a little more well behaved(!) and Bournemouth well it was just excellent - Thanks for your hard work it must have seemd like a long long summer. Looking forward to the next tour hopefully not too long away (enjoy the rest now!)

Hi Chris

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the concert in Liverpool on Saturday night. The cathedral was a wonderful setting, the lighting was excellent and you were superb! It has been a few years since I have seen you live, and always in the past I have seen you with the band so I wondered how this would work, but it was so good. The cross-section of songs was great, spanning so many albums (but there was nothing from Eastern Wind??) and I do like the new songs, particularly Rose of England and the Journey. Borderline and Say Goodbye to it all are just about my favourites, but I also thoroughly enjoyed the sing-along at the end!!

I took my auntie with me, and her comment on the way out was it is the best show she has ever been to. Thank you so much and please come back to Liverpool again soon. (And thanks for letting us know the Liverpool final score - I missed the end of the match to get to the venue!!)

Lots of love

Chris..What a night we all spent with you last night no one can express without been there how you took complete control of the whole evening showing no strain, tiredness just there to make us all feel one of your friends.
What a proud moment also when on the stage came your son, you better watch out he might step into your shoes, or maybe a complete show to gether. You dont need a orchestra anymore. Have a well deserved rest now. Love from us all in our party we just think you are great. LOVE JEAN

Hi Chris-my friend and I saw you at Brighton last Friday on another blustery night-the show was fantastic as usual with you holding the audience non stop for 2 1/2 hours .It was good to see such a wide age group of fans from small children to Nora at a magnificent 94 years old-she sat just in front of us and what a perky lady.
Many teenagers were in the audience and participated in the 'dance ' session .
another great evening. Thelma

Dear Chris,

Performing is an art - and yours paints memories for all those who see you in concert. Your blank canvas is a stage and your music, melodies and lyrics equate to every colour known!

To take a solo stage, a guitar and piano; and perform is freedom itself .... your concert in Bournemouth was exceptional - but I am sure you know that by the standing ovation and the appreciation that brought you back twice over!

Thank you!

Chris, I love your music even though I'm only 19! My mother has had me growing up on it my whole life, and it's inspired me to do my best as a musician and as a person. You've also got the one song which my girlfriend and I will always remember as "ours", Lady In Red. I hope you do a show in Ontario at some point, so we can go see it!

Hi Chris,
Bit late I know, but I just wanted to say thank you for the concert at the Fairfield Halls. It makes me glad to see other people in my age group (I'm 21) posting messages here. With the current trend in music today, it's very rare for me to hear anything which remotely intrests me.
Having been brought up with your music from a fairly young age, I can say that I have never stopped enjoying your particular style, and I believe that my mum got the "Live in Dublin" CD back for the first time the other night, ever since I 'borrowed' it for an extended period.

Thank you again for a wonderful concert, I hope to see you again someday and keep them coming!

Cheers

Edward

Chris, I just had to tell you again that on Saturday night at Liverpool Cathedral you were magnificent. You really have to do a concert there again, and soon. The way the staging and lighting were changed to suit the venue was just so well thought out. Congratulations to those responsible.

It was great to see Diane, Hubie and Michael too. At that point, Rosanna joining you on stage to sing 'Here For You' would have just capped the whole evening off. I really love the song and am sorry you have not included it in the set.

In Rosanna's absence, speaking to you after the show was the icing on the cake and the photograph is great.

I have been spoilt these last two weeks but am now looking forward to seeing you in Dortmund.

Quite frankly, I don't know how you get up on that stage, night after night, and perform with such energy and enthusiasm, making us all feel that ours is the only concert you are doing, and that you want to make it special for you as well as us.

I saw you in Brighton on Friday night, drove up to Liverpool Cathedral last night and am driving to Bournemouth tonight to see your last concert.

Thanks Chris, I may be mad, I may be tired, but I am the happiest person alive.

Thank you for making my weekend and the last week so special. Hubie was great last night as well, he's a real chip of the old block, and looked so confident, and you looked so proud of him.

The Liverpool Cathedral concert is something I will always remember as a highlight, the atmosphere the lighting, the beauty of it all.

Thanks again.

Dear Chris,

thank you very much for the gift of "The Road To Freedom - Special Edition". My comments on the bonus tracks:

"Even Now": What a breathtaking love song!
"Kiss Me From A Distance": What a strong imagination!
"Little Angel": What a pain after that horror!
"Once Upon A Time": What an aching in the child´s AND father´s heart!

The video shows me how men can work together. And it also shows me that you have put into the songs a lot of feelings (Just listen to them). Special thanks for the final scenes. :-) By the way I love the cover. :-) And the new booklet (in white and nice blue) is even more beautiful than the first one: Wonderful concert photos and portraits of yours. :-) I have to repeat: "The Road To Freedom" is simply the best you have ever done. Thank you.

Please take good care of you and please don´t give up because we love you. I really hope to see you next year again. Love and hugs from far far away

I spent for wonderful days in London, together with my family and some very good friends.

I only can repeat what Ina said before:

I can't describe the feelings and emotions but I can say: thank you so much for signing Rufus' t-shirt. He is sitting right beside my computer and he is fine and very proud.

And once again thanks for *A Rainy Night In Paris*.

Hi Chris!!

Its been two days now since you performed at Plymouth Pavillions and i have only just come round from an exstatic state of jubulation from your perfect performance.

I am ashamed to admit that it was the first time I have seen you live but the Road to Freedom tour 2004 did not dissapoint me by any stretch of the imagination.

I struggle to convey my emotions from such a wonderful performance - to stop and look around at all the smiles and love in the room really touched something deep inside of me. Therefore i have re-worked one of your best loved songs in an attempt to convey what your performance has done to those of us who were honoured enough to hear your voice on that memorable October Evening in Plymouth. Never has such a terrible place seen so much love and warmth.

Imagine if you will the song 'Missing you' taken from arguably your best album, - the euphoric and heartfelt - Flying Colours.

"I've got the cd's, I've got the vibe,
With a little luck Chris wil perform on time,
I have been waiting for far too long,
To hear Chris perform his heartwarming songs,
And as I swayed there down by the stage,
Bringing down the average age,
We were mindblown, by Chris that night,
In a state of loving rage, and theres something that you should know, Chris its that...

I've been missing you, ever since you played,
And that I've been mesmerised by your words every day,
And the time we had just dancing with some vets,
And I said now I've heard you,
I never will...forget...

Chris you are a tremendous talent and a real role model - I know I won't be dissapointed in the future because your music (much like a fine wine) will improve with age.

THE ROAD TO FREEDOM TOUR 2004 is evidence enough for this,

God bless Chris and Thankyou from the bottom of my heart

Chris,

Im just recovering from your concert at Plymouth last night, it was FANTASTIC! You really were in great voice last nite, i dont know how you manage to captivate so many people. There was such a great feeling of love in the hall last nite. We in the office are all still feeling alive from your performance. I have been spurred into writing a song for you, it must be sung to the tune of Sailing Away, my personal favourite.

Standing with the crowd that night
Watching Chris perform
As we are chanting for a big encore,
I was overjoyed,
I was overjoyed,
Praying for Ship To Shore,
Praying for Ship To Shore;

Singing as played our song,
Dancing in the aisles
With such love that i have never seen,
Looking up at Chris,
Reaching out to Chris,
Dreaming of a soft kiss,
Dreaming of a soft kiss,

I wish i was dancing on stage,
Dancing on stage,
Dancing on stage, with you tonight,
With you tonight.

I really hope you like it Chris, i wrote from the heart. Peace to the world.

Hello Chris, Just had to write to thank you for the concerts in Croydon and the RAH. WOW!!! What a party in the RAH. It was quite something. At the encore with the G Boys, I turned and looked at the audience and the whole place was singing and clapping and dancing. What a joy this must be for you and to have your wife share this must have been special. I am glad that this was my final concert of the tour, however, good luck for the remaining four. Come back to UK very, very soon, please.
Even having my purse stolen from my bag on the train is not dampening my memories of your concert.

Back on earth again...

Wow - what a wonderfull and special time we had in London the last days!!! We (Heike, Jutta, Gabi, myself and the children Lukas, Ruben und Sahra) enjoyed the shows in Croydon and London very much! Since many years I wished to see the Royal Albert Hall one time - and on Monday my wish come true! For all of us it was like a "big adventure", for all of us it was the first flight...

Thank you for singing "Up here in heaven". Some days before I thought about how great it must be to hear that song life - it´s one of my favourite songs and I had tears in my eyes when you started singing it! And it sounds very good on guitar!

Especially the concert in the Royal Albert Hall was a great atmosphere - I enjoyed the Guarana Boys very much, too and your last encore was big fun! All the hours went by much to fast...

I can´t describe all the feelings that came through my head and heart the last days - so many emotions, so many moments I will never forget. And we had so much of fun together!

Thank you for signing "Rufus"! We were waiting on the stage door outside a long time, hoped to meet you there for this sign. How great that we met Astrid there and how great that she was so kind to bring Rufus to you :-)!

Reading my name in England was fantastic!

I´m thinking of all the wonderful times again and again!
Thank you, Chris!

Ina

Dear Chris,

I should say your concert in albert hall was awesome and mind-blowing.
I am 24 and I grew up with your songs. I live with your songs and I dore you. chris you said thank you to the audience who came from Germany or France but could you believe that somebody came from Iran in Middleast to attend your concert?
It was my most important desire in my life to come to your concert. When I saw you on the stage I couldn't believe it was you and when you came down between audience I shook hands with you, It was amazing.
Chris I came from the country which most of its people especially high school and unversity students love you, your character, your lyrics, your songs and your voice, but nearly none of them can afford to come to your concert, so thanks God that he gave me this oppotunity to see you. I never forget those moments I had in albert hall with you, and I wish that concert would go on for hours.
I wish you a very good time with your family, and never forget that you have many fans in Iran.

Hi Chris,

I want to thank you for coming to Southend. It was the first time my sister and I have seen you live and we really enjoyed your concert. I'm 23 and have loved your music ever since my sister used to play your records in her room when I was little. Thank you for smiling and shaking our hands when we were dancing at the stage at the end. I've written the following to thank you and also to hopefully make you smile!! You need to sing it in your head to the tune of Lady in Red!

I've never heard you sounding so lovely as you did that night,
Your singing set my soul alight,
You were amazing.

I've never seen so many fans want to be there by the stage,
And when you smiled at us and waved,
It took our breath away.

And I have never had such a feeling,
Such a feeling of pure joy as when you sang,
In Southend that night.

Mr. De Burgh,
He came to Southend-
Brought no band.

He sang on his own,
Don't want to go home,
This is where I want to be.

For I hardly know,
How a voice can have such power,
I'll never forget,
The way you sang that night.
I never will forget, October the 13th!!

Your'e brilliant. Please keep singing !

Love Angela xx

Hi Chris,

Was going to wait until after the last Concert to post here but the gig at The Royal Albert Hall was SO special I just had to send!!

Inviting along 'The G Boys'for the warm up was just ace. They are fantastic musicians - I go to see them too whenever I can. They appeared to be enjoying themselves!! They certainly were amongst friends that night!

I was with a group of ten girls that night. It's become a reunion to meet up for your gigs as we are getting scattered far and wide since the early days! So you can imagine that we all had a very special evening together.

The party bit at the end was fantastic

Dear Chris,
I have seen you in your concerts in Nürnberg and Ingolstadt and have been very happy to see this man , you, from which I have had some albums with very good stories like crusader, eastern wind and so on. The last years I had nothing heard about you. Your tour road to freedom is so good. I think it has been the best concert I have ever seen.
Thank you for this way to tell it to you.I hope you can see this lines. I would wish to play some songs from you like "The journey" with my own guitar, but I have no notes.
Good luck for you to write a musical whitch you want to do. Your musik is getting better and better.

Your Monika Maid

Dear Chris

I just wanted to congratulate you on a superb performance last night at the Albert Hall. It was the sixth concert that myself and my husband have enjoyed and once again we were not disappointed with the quality of the music, especially as this was a solo concert.
It must be very difficult to choose the songs to play over the evening but the selection last night was superb and there were many old favourites there.
Thank you for including 'up here in heaven' - what a truly wonderful song and so beautifully done with just a guitar and oyur amazing voice.
I have never seen anyone wander into the audience as you did either and I only wish that we had been closer to the stage (we were in the stalls overlooking the stage) so we could have had the chance to meet you and say thankyou for bringing us so much pleasure with your songs!
I hope that you may be considering another outdoor concert like the lovely evening we spent at Losely Hall a few years ago - the combination of a picnic and your music was just brilliant!

Keep up the good work and thanks again!

Hi Chris

I have written to you several times before but feel the need again to do so. My husband and I first met you in March 1979 at the backstage entrance after a show in Ipswich, Suffolk, and have been fans ever since.

I have, since then, taken many people to see you. This Sunday, in Croydon, I took my mother and sister, who lives nearby there.

In 24 1/2 years of seeing your shows I have never experienced you going out into the audience like you did, and shaking hands with the fans at the end of the show. Of which my sister and I were two.

I was the lady who shouted out and asked you to sing 'Up there in heaven' by the way. Thanks so much for that. The sentiment of that song is wonderful and every time I hear it I feel the need to advise the UN that they should use this as their world song. It is so true.

This was not the first time that you have sang a song for me (and my husband). In Ipswich, March 1979, I chatted up a doorman who gave you my request, and you sang The Tower for us. At the NEC, in 1999 (I think) my husband shouted out 'The Tower' again, when the house was silent, and you sang that for us also. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I do hope that you get this message.

The show in Croydon was wonderful and I'm busy trying to get tickets for another show elsewhere. Keep on singing and writing songs - I will always buy them!

I have been trying to get some of my old records on CD recently and they have been unavailable, does this mean that they will soon be available on the 'Ferryman' label? I do hope so.

Love and kisses Russy (and Leigh) Cole.

Dear Chris
Just to say, thank you for your concert last night in the Albert Hall. I was concerned that the atmosphere that usually accompanied your concerts would not be there without the band, but how wrong could I be? You were absolutely amazing Chris ... and I left the Hall feeling like a million dollars just like you had sung to me alone. Your trips into the audience involved us all in your pleasure, and that showed confidence and togetherness with us.

Thank you Chris, I'm still High on Emotion and will be all day.

Love always,

Melanie

My husband and i were lucky to fly from Boston Massachusetts on the 7th of October in time to see Chris play in Manchester on the 10th...
I was one of the few people who actually got to meet him, and not only that, i actually got bumped from row p. which was still great seats in the stalls at bridgewater hall, up to the front row. a nice gentleamn whose wife was too ill to make it... sorry to hear about that... she had told him to try to find us and to swap seats with us. i couldn`t believe it, i was amazed he even found us amongst the crowd.. but i am so happy that he did. it made my night extra special.. and would like to thank him again for his generosity,,, and to say thankyou to Chris himself, for a wonderful and romantic experience, i will never forget... i got some great pictures...
and i would travel around the world again to see him in concert.

thanks Chris you were great

Hi Chris,
I am most likely a minority in a fan group of yours as I am only 16yrs old (nearly 17!!). I grew up listening to your wonderful music, as my mum adores you, and I can recall many a 4hr car trip with a mix tape playing with your songs on it. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that yes even 16yr olds like your music (!) and that I hope you can tour Sydney(Australia) again one day, as my parents went to your Sydney concert in '97 and said it was mind-blowing :) You're guaranteed that my parents and I will attend if you come back :) I hope to hear of you and your music for many years to come :)
Cheers, xx Beck xx

Hi Chris

Birthday greetings are obviously the order of the day.
Have been a fan of your music for more years than I care to remember and now my teenage daughters (and their friends) have discovered "Spanish Train" and think it's the best thing since sliced bread. How depressing is that, I started buying your albums way way before they were even thought of. Anyway, are there any Irish dates in the pipeline? Imagine going to a concert with your kids and actually wanting to be there.
Best regards

Hope you had a fab birthday, saw you in Birmingham two weeks ago you were fab as usual.
I am now devastated as on leaving the concert i fell and tore three ligaments in my ankle so instead of seeing you in Bornmouth next week i will be sat at home with a good imagination of what is happening at your concert and looking at the two unused tickets(unless i get driving by then) so if you see two empty seats in block c......it's where i should be sat

Have a great concert

Well Chris, I left you a message earlier this week about your concert in Harrogate(9th October) and I am still on a high, your cd's have been played every single day- at work all day long( I have a great boss), and at home-when I'm doing my exercises I love The Road To Freedom and Timing is Everything and when I am in the house, well, I just go through every one of them, they just sound better and better every time I play them. I love Read My Name, you know, you don't think that you do anything special in life until you hear this song, then I realised that I give blood regularly, do a sponsored cross stitch for the Harefield Hospital every year, bake for Children in Need and will soon be making cards for the stroke ward to sell at our local infirmary where my dad died last year, I do all of this to help other people not for myself but I do get a lot of pleasure from doing these things-your name doesn't have to up in lights for you to have acheived something does it?
Hope you had a lovely birhtday and a well earned rest, I don't have the special edition Road to Freedom, but it is on my xmas list-looking forward to the bonus tracks. love ya loads Paulinexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

At that time, I saw you sing your song -
Missing You on TV. Since then, I love your songs. Your lyrics (words) in your

memories and nice times that I had during my stay in Brighton.
I enjoy with your CDs here in Osaka.

My father was ill in April and we were called down to Brighton to be with him.We played Road to Freedom all the way to learn the words and "The Words I love you" really stuck and made driving very difficult. Tender hands - well its just an inspired song Chris....

"Tender hands to hold me,
I need tender hands tonight,
Will you lay them on my shoulders,
Will you lay them on my eyes,
And I need tender hands to take me,
All the way to paradise,
And then, when it's over,
I need tender hands
To hold me through the night;"

hi dear chris!
i just want to say that i am proud that i am your fan because you are not
just a singer,you are a real human.
in such a world which is full of chaos,
terror and violence, you are the only one whose heart is full of love and peace and your voice is the only voice which rejects borderlines.
as an iranian i have tasted the bitter taste of war and "i went to my bed with a sweet lullaby with the sound of the guns in the sky"
i feel what you say with my heart and i am proud of you.
i love you ,dooset daram , je t`aime

Thanks a lot and best whishes for you

Dear Chris de Burgh,
My name is Tim and I´m 5 years old. I like your music very, very much. "Read my name" is my favorit song. When I hear this song (and I hear it very often)I always dance and sing. My mother was on your concert in Stuttgart. She loved it! Now she always plays the first song on your CD on the piano. I also want to go on one of your concerts. Do you soon come to Stuttgart again? I hope so. Perhaps then I can give you a nice flower!
Please answer me soon. I know that you have a lot of letters to answer.

Warmest greetings from Montreal! It's been a while since we've had the pleasure of seeing you in town - when will we have you back in our fair city? I have been listening to you since my high school days and now as an English teacher, I use your songs to introduce poetry to my classes. My 16 year old son says you are his favourite musician. (He gets his great taste from me!) Don't stay away too long!

Hi!
Yesterday I bought the new special edition of "The road to freedom" and I´m so happy to have "Little Angle" on CD now! Thank you!! I remember, when you answered a question at MOTL about this song and invited us to write our thoughts about publishing it into the guestbook! This song brings feelings to words and all I can hope, that all the ones who hear it and who have lost children, find comfort in it - and to all others who hear it - never to forget that our children are our world, our future and the best that can be in our lifes!
When I heard "Once upon a time" yesterday for the first time, I felt tears in my eyes and goosefleshes. I had pictures in my mind - "seeing" this child sitting in his room. Your voice was "only a perfect sound" to this pictures, it was like hearing the thoughts of this child! This song will always be one of my favourites - it´s a great song and I hope to hear it life one time, maybe in Dortmund? Thank you Chris - for all the pictures and quiet moments that your songs give me and also thank you for all the fantastic moments full of fun with my friends from the mailinglist!
I managed to book for England, I´m happy to see you in Croydon and London together with my friends! In the beginning of the year I could not wait for the start of tour - was so happy that I had tickets for 3 shows! And now... 11 tickets... can´t get enough from the power at the shows, from the feelings, from having fun with my friends, from having wonderful moments and memories, from remembering the wonderful show in Cologne with my son René, dancing in front of the stage (a foto from you with the little car is next to his bed, from "little holidays" from everyday, from feeling that I´m living! Tilburg will be the last show this year - you did a great job Chris!!!
All the best from
Ina

Just got back from a great concert in Nottingham - very different from the many times I've seen Chris before - it felt slightly odd NOT dancing to 'Say Goodbye to it all' which was performed at the piano but which still worked oh so well. My sister Julie and I had a friend with us who had never seen Chris before so we had to describe how different it was from the Arena/Outdoor concerts and that she hadn't heard Patricia the Stripper which of course lead us into singing/reciting it to her as we returned to the car park!! We too got a bit lost around Nottingham Chris, what with the diversion and one way system - it was a darn sight easier getting out though!
Looking forward to next time..

Chris, you were fantastic in Manchester. A wonderful concert, and so refreshing to see a 'real' musician, no miming, backing or gimmicks, it was sensational. One of my sisters was to have joined us, but she was ill, she missed a wonderful night. Love the new album, and have nearly worn it out today!! Hi Chris, just been reading through the comments on your concert in Harrogate and what can I say, every word said is true. The show was awsome and so intimate, I was in the 4th row aisle seat with my husband Colin and could not have had a better view, I nearly died when you came out into the audience, never dreamt that I'd ever be that close to my idol, but then I managed to get to the stage front when you invited us to join you and couldn't believe it when you touched my hand. I'm sat listening to you cd's right now reminiscing(forgive the spelling if that's wrong!) that wonderful night of songs written and performed fron the heart with so much passion. I only wish that we could be with you in Germany next month but cannot, so we will just have to wait until next time you tour - which will not be quick enough for me. We wish you al the best for the rest of the tour and hope you have a wonderful birthday on the 15th. Lots of love and thanks, PaulineXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.

Hi Chris,
what a nice surprise for me this morning on my first day back at work after a week off as I saw one of my questions answered at the MOTL section! Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer our questions all the time! After spending a week on the streets of England and Scotland as Chris Williams' co-driver I can say that I feel quite comfortable on Britains streets, but still I am not too keen on driving there myself.
I enjoyed the last week tremendously, it feels like I've been away for months. A big thank you to Chris and Stewart Williams for being such good hosts and especially to Chris for doing all the driving. We had such great fun being "on tour" again, doing some "stormy" sight seeing and I would not want to miss this time!!!
And a big thank you of course to you for 5 great concerts I could enjoy last week. For us sitting in the audience it sure looks easy, though it's hard work for you. I can't wait to come back next week - already counting the days and hours....
Take care and see you soon,
Andrea

Dear Chris,

Thanks for yet another amazing concert - this time at Harrogate - a little closer to our Yorkshire Dales home!

It was an amazing start for all who were there with your first song touching each and everyone who had loved ones who were not with us - in my case one son on the other side of the world [travelling in New Zealand]and the other five scattered around the country! Yet, we all felt that this song was performed from you to each individual listening - very personal! Thankyou.

The concert was fantastic as usual! You never cease to reveal your showmanship and professionalism. The 'party' was great afterwards - we all again felt the 'personal' invitation and that the weekend was filled with fun!

Keep on writing the wonderful lyrics and music. The new cd is brilliant!

My husband and I had a superb evening - roll on the next one!! Many, many thanks.

I am so glad we couldn't go to Cyprus when we planned to - I've never been to a concert where the atmosphere was so electric, so warm, such fun and yet so meaningful as well. The CD has been played to bits today! Maybe Chris would like to come to Cyprus in the very near future?! Please?!!

Dear Chris, thanks for a brilliant night at Harrogate. My wife, Jane, is in a wheelchair, the one right at the end with her leg sticking out. She had been very anxious about the visit to the centre and they looked after us very well. She has been a fan since your very early days, when she was a student, and shaking hands with you made the pain of her condition go away a little at least for a few moments last night. We have been unable to see your shows in recent years and last saw you in Manchester. Your comment about the lady in pain from her husband could have been me but it wasn't but I thought is was a really nice thing to do. Wonderful show, keep up the good work, see you again in the future.

PS By the way I remember sometime in the past you saying that all your music can be played solo on either guitar or piano. I took up piano as a mature starter two years ago and Snows of New York was the first piece a tentatively played and sang too, you are an inspiration to me and my music.

Kind regards, John Atack

I have enjoyed your music since I first heard a friend's 'The Spanish Train' in the late 70's. I went to buy my own copy and have gone on to add to my collection of all the records.

Your music has been an inspiration to me during happy times and dificult ones too.

On the 13th October, My wife has given me a birthday present of a lifetime - I am looking forward to the wonderful opportunity of watching you perfom live at the Cliffs Pavillion, Southend on Sea. I really look forward to it.

Hi Chris,
just want to say a very big 'thank you' for the lovely surprise that you gave me at the Newcastle concert on 7th October, for my 100th concert. What a shame that there was no one there to take a photo of me and you and my gift :-( Andrea and I have just spent a wonderful week travelling around England and Scotland....wonder what we were doing travelling around at this time of the year when its cold and windy most of the time.

So far I have driven over 1,500 miles in the last week and its all been worth it :-)) Nows its off to the next concert.....I must be a glutton for punishment ;-) !!!
Love and hugs as ever, and always you will have my continued support.

oh my gosh i went to see you yesterday in newcastle city hall . you are a really amazing singer . I'm only 14 and have admired your music for quite a while now . the emotions people feel when you sing your songs aren't something that people feel everyday . I'm currently in year 10 and thinking of using one of your songs for a dance gcse . because when you sing i can feel that this is the music i want to use . I picture in my head of dancers with your music and it's a paradise . i would really like to see you again and i will hopefully . melissa .

Chris, your concert at the Usher Hall, Edinburgh was out of this world. You were terrific. Hearing your album live was amazing, and entertaining us for over 2 hours on your own!! Words fail me. We were so pleased to get tickets 6 rows from the front and then what a wonderful surprise when you joined us in the audience - I still haven't recovered. One of my favourites was 'Read My Name', encouraging people to make something of themselves. That really encouraged me. Don't think I can wait another two years to see you again!. Love you always, Lesley

Saw you last night at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh. Can I say that was the single most fantastic gig I've been to and I've been to a lot. My GF got the tickets for my birthday. She wasnt a fan of yours going but was when we left. I saw you in 1986 and it was fantasic but this was better. You're a true talent and theres not many that can stand up on stage- on their own, guitar in hand and keep an audience capivated for 2 and a half hours. I was sitting directly behind a couple of disabled guys and when you approached and held their hand (making their night I'm sure) I turned to my GF and she had tears running down her face, so touched she was with this genuine gesture. I had a lump in my throat too.

Keep it up Chris, you're a gentleman and a fantasic talent. Just get back to Edinburgh soon okay!!

cheers

Alan

Dear Chris

Thank you so much for your most amazing Usher Hall performance! Having learnt so much from and listened to your "healing" music since I was 15 yrs old, (now 25 years on) I still cherish the strength it has given me through life, both good times and bad! For that I offer my eternal thanks! P.S Apparently I was fortunate to purchase the last cap at the Usher Hall! I wear it with pride!

Was at the Usher Hall last night, what a fantastic concert. I have been a fan for 20yrs but this is the 1st time I have seen you live. I hope not the last time. As I listen to the cds in my car they will take on a whole new meaning! I loved the new stuff as well as reminiscing over the old. We bought your new cd - Long may you rock! One of the best entertainers I have seen live. Don't know how many others could stand on stage alone for 2 1/2 hrs and entertain as you did. The choreography of the lights and screens was amazing.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for a wonderful evening at the Usher Hall. Had a Ball even though I was on my own. Now looking forward to Croydon and R.A.H.
Great to hear most of the new album live and, of course, all the old favourites. I had a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes at
"Carry Me", what an emotional performance. A fitting tribute for the parents of the young lady in question.
See you soon, my friend,

Just caught your show at the Usher Hall. Had heard a couple of your albums before through one of my friends who's a big fan, but I'll admit to being surprised at how much fun your show was.

For a two and a half hour set, filled with great music, (old and new tracks - something for everyone) you looked like you were enjoying every minute of it, and I'm sure all of us in the audience were as well. I was amazed at the energy you seemed to have to make it through the full set, especially as you didn't have a backing band.

Superb show, and I'll be looking forward to your next trip up this way.

Hi Chris,
Thankyou for such an enjoyable night at The Birmingham Symphony Hall on Sunday 3rd October. Your concert was amazing, as always. We had a fantastic time. It was great to hear you sing songs from your new album as well as some of your older ones.
We really enjoyed the little bit of dancing we got to do at the front of the stage, but was disappointed that security made us go back to our seats. However we had a wonderful evening, and it was lovely to see you again.
We look forward to seeing you again on 10th October in Manchester.

When your newest CD was released I got it for my birthday from my collegs on the 21 March and I saw you in Amsterdam by your concert in june. I have read a lot of comments that a lot of men like too see you with a band but I say please stay solo. Both my brother and I have enjoyd your solo concert much more than your concerts with a band. Maybee because my age I am 55 and my brother 50, but we like the more quiet songs. And yonger people like more hard sounds. I am looking foreward too next yaer when you come again in Holland, you can bee sure that when my health it allows I be by your concert. Many greetings for you and your family from Tiny, in Heiloo the Netherlands

Watched you again last night at the Symphony Hall. Wonderful, absolutely wonderful. Your music brought my darling wife and I together many years ago, and you still seem able to write the lyrics that come from our hearts. "Diamond in the Dark" brought us as one and we have followed you everywhere since--many times at the NEC, twice at Ragley Hall to mention some. Last night was a magnificent tribute to a supremely talented composer/singer/songwriter...the keyboard version of "Say goodbye to it all" was so moving...and my wife cried as usual at LIR and "Snows..".The accoustics were great and we had great seats, only four rows from centre front. What a great night..(again!).Thank you so much for the music. This Album in our humble opinion is your best by far.
Oh and my wife has still not washed her face since you kissed her at the NEC during your last concert there!
Keep it coming..you write the words we feel. Thank you.

And so we go full circle!

First saw you supporting Supertramp in the Usher Hall, Edinburgh in 1975 and I will be back there on Wednesday to see and hear you once again.
I have never forgotten you walking on stage with guitar in hand and spellbinding an audience which was there to listen to Supertramp (Crime of the Century Tour)
I have been a fan ever since.
I have seen you in Edinburgh, Glasgow,
Birmingham, Alton Towers, Stirling Castle and Dublin over the past 29 years and your music has never been far away from me.
My wedding dance in 1981 was to 'In a Country Churchyard'
Would be nice to hear that again on Wednesday.
Looking forward to Wednesday with great anticipation.
Have a good one!

Chris,

Thanks for answering my question in September last year - due to my personal circumstances I have not had internet access for a year and have just found your answer to my question.

I have loved your music for 15 years now and was introduced to it by a good friend of mine. Unfortunately he passed away suddenly ten years ago and whenever I hear your songs they always bring back memories of him!

I would also like to say that I have been through a lot with the breakup of my marriage over the past year and your music has helped tremendously to get me through this.

Hi Chris !!
Well 'we' had a great time on Friday evening............dancing 'alone' at the front of the stage !! talk about embarrassing !!!! But what the heck, at least we enjoyed providing additional entertainment for the other 1000 + fans who declined to join us down the front, despite being asked by you to come down to the stage. We must have looked sooo funny doing all the 'Read My Name' routine.......we didn't dare look backwards !!!!
The actual show was very good of course, like last time on Jersey in February 2002. And just like last time, it was very wet, cold and windy and Andrea and myself got soaked walking from our hotel to the venue:-(
typical on Saturday as we were about to leave the Island and we got on the bus to take us back to the airport, the sun came out and it was nice and warm !! Now 'Williams Travel UK is well and truely 'on the road', while 'Lucas Travel'is taking a rest, and we are looking forward to seeing you in Birmingham tonight.
love and hugs,
Chris and Andrea
