Dear Mr. DeBurgh (Chris),
We so enjoyed your concert in Saint John, NB this evening! During the concert there was a couple holding a sign stating that they fell in love listening to your music - we didn't have the foresight and because we couldn't thank you in person, I wanted to tell you that that couple was definitely not alone! My husband and I have been together for 14 years now and have been listening to your music together since day one. We will have been married for 10 years as of August 7th of this year and we have two wonderful children (aged 4 and 2). "In a Country Churchyard" and "Where Peaceful Waters Flow" were our wedding songs. We were so pleased to hear them this evening (I confess, I was a little teary) and we consider it an early anniversary present for each other hear them again in concert! THANK YOU for writing/recording and preforming the music we fell in love to, and for remaining an execellent songsmith who speaks from the heart and to the heart.
Sincerely,
Jill & Charlie Cook

Dear Chris, I just saw your show in St. John's, Newfoundland last night and it was amazing. The way that you captivate the crowd is really something else. The first time I saw you was about ten years ago when I was in grade 6 and I'm so glad that I got the chance to last night to see you again. We even got to meet you after the show. It was me and my two friends you met backstage. You signed my cd. Thank you so much for stopping to talk to us. You have one hell of a voice. I hope you come back soon!

Thanks for the memories. We saw your show last night at Mile One Stadium and it was superb. You looked like you were having as much fun as we were. And a great birthday present for Janice it was too!
It was comforting to hear you say that you took time to walk the ancient streets of this island and steal some of that old world charm that you've left back home in Ireland.
As you indicated last evening, there is a strong connection between Newfoundland and Ireland. It is centuries old, as old as our forefathers who come to this magical place to start anew, to a land were anything was possible.
We would be honored if someday you'd write us a song about it.
Once again, thanks for the memories.

Chris..Wonderful show last night.
May 30, Mile One..
Your concert was unique, in that I felt like we got to connect in a very different way..I felt like we had all spent a relaxing evening sitting around the kitchen table chatting, joking and enjoying your music in a very special way..I know many others felt the same...
Its been a difficult time for the people here in Newfoundland, and you seemed to understand that on the level of a neibour and friend.
Thank you for being a friend to the Island, and sharing a magical evening with us. I look forward to seeing you perform here again.
Always your loyal fan

I will see you again soon and experience another night and thank you from the bottom of my heart for singing one of my favorites "Same Sun".
Next time I will take you to the "Cotton Club " and get you in for nothing..hehehe

Dear Chris
Wonderful concert in Halifax, May 26.
Havn't missed one yet,I've been a fan for years.
Your love of history is evident in your music. You should look into the stories about Sable Island.
It's such a mysterious place and not one song has been written about it. I lived there as a kid and
still dream about it.
Again, a GREAT concert. So intimate and personal as your songs are

It is amazing how at this stage in Chris's career, he is writing and recording better than he ever has. His last 2 CDs "Quiet Revolution" and "Timing Is Everything" have so many quality songs on each, I could make a "Best Of..." compilation CD from just those two releases. Most non-greatest hits CDs have 1-3 songs I really like. But the last 2 De Burgh CDs, especially "Quiet Revolution" are loaded! I wish more of the U.S.A. knew Chris De Burgh as much more than just the "Lady in Red" guy. Keep the quality coming Chris!

He started at 8PM and didn't stop for a minute until 10:30PM. He blew us away with just him, his piano and 2 guitars.
He finished several encores with "Hard Day's Night", "Pretty Woman" and "Hey Jude". What a blast!! Come back soon Chris!

Dear Mr. de Burgh,
You are amazing!
We two elderly ladies flew from New Orleans, USA to Quebec City for your concert on the 23rd. I only discovered you and your music two or three years ago and my friend had no idea who Chris de Burgh is but we sat mesmerized by your music and energy for 2 hours and 45 minutes. I have most of your CDs and the Volendam DVD but in person you are even better.
Thanks for an evening to remember. It was a wonderful show and I'm happy I promised myself if you came to Canada I would see a concert.
Perhaps someday you may consider coming to the USA.
Sincerely,
Yvonne

Hi Chris,
I have been a fan of yours since 1980 when my Mum played your tapes on long journey's around Europe and the UK.
Because of your exceptional talent, I discovered a whole new world of ideas and my own imagination.
I'm in the middle of writing a short story with the working title: "This is Station Planet Earth....we're closing down........" inspired by your cracking song on Man On the Line.
All the best,

I was lucky enough to see the Ottawa show on May 17th. It was one of the best concerts I've been to in my life. I came away from it feeling like I was a part of it and I still think of it every day.
It was my first trip away from my 18 month old daughter, and when you sang that song for Holly Jones, I was very very moved. I want to thank you for feeling and sharing so much with everyone that night.
You are an artist with a special gift for including everyone in your craft. We could feel your genuine gratitude for us being there and I hope you felt ours to you.
I look forward to your next concert here and I will be there for sure.

Dear Chris,
With all my heart I thank you for a most cherished evening. My wife and I go out ever year to celebrate our first date (June 11, 1986). This year we were certainly fortunate to have spent the evening in the company of such a warm, generous, and artistic spirit as yourself. We feel overjoyed to have had experienced your special creative gifts and humanity. Suzanne and I met at a time when we had just discovered your music. Your songs were a constant backdrop of our early lives together, and continues to enrich our household today. Your new creation is a special gem that captures the essence of the emotions we all feel as we are assaulted by such senseless tragedy. We were fortunate enough to have front row seats at your Toronto concert. I appreciate the opportunity to have been able to share a small portion of my art with you (my photo-greetings). I was elated to have been able to shake your hand and say "Thank you" in person.
I wish you safe and happy journeys,
Sincerely,
Jim Effer

Hello All-
I've just returned home from one of the best experiences I've ever had. I was able to share the night with Chris and all his fans in London on the 20th. I gave Chris a tiny little Teddy bear from Wisconsin, and the way he thanked me made me feel it was so much more. What a wonderful, humble, talented, giving man he is. I laughed and cried with you all. I cannot wait until the next time I am able to get back up to Canada to see him--my your travels be blessed. Annie

Chris, last night at the Hummingbird Centre was the 5th time my wife and I have seen you play Toronto over the past 25 years. I loved all your previous shows, and I miss your old Toronto band mates, but your solo performance last night was beyond words. Just you, your piano and guitar, and your wonderful music. Thrown in for good measure was your humour, your honesty, your sadness, and some words of encouragement about our future. It took guts for you to sing the 'unfinished' tribute to Holly Jones. You couldn't see me from row P, but I gave you a standing O after that, and I couldn't hold back the tears.
You were sent to our world, to help make it a better place. Of this I am certain. If music be the food of love, play on... it is, and please do... /m.

My 7yr old daughter and I attended your Toronto concert and we both absolutely loved it. It was her first concert and she came away with a smile so beautiful that I couldn't stop looking at her. Thank you for the memories that you gave us, they will last a lifetime. My daughter wore her "CdeB" cap to school and told all her friends about her favourite songs (Revolution & Spanish Train).
I have always loved your music and thought I could not be more of a fan than I already was....I was wrong.
The song for the 2 English girls and Holly was beautiful and captured how I imagine I would feel were I unfortunate enough to be in Holly's parents' shoes.
Thank you for a wonderful night, wonderful memories, and wonderful music.

Hey Chris...I wrote a couple days ago saying that my wife and I were driving to London ON to see your show.
What a night it was!
You were spectacular and touched our hearts. We ended up taking a neighbour who is orginally from Dublin. We all sang, clapped, laughed and had tears of joy.
I actually "snuck in early" and caught part of your soundcheck. It was like my own private concert and something I'll always remember.
Keep coming back to Canada!

We went to see your concert last night, 21 May 2003 at the Hummingbird Centre. The last time I saw you was back around 30 years ago, in Moncton NB and you were the back up act for Supertramp.
We must say your eloquent voice and generouse writing gift made for a wonderful night that I shall remember for years to come. We were honoured that you felt compeled to sing your unfinished song about the death of the two girls over in England in tribute to the little girl lost here in Toronto by the same type of evil. The night was magic! Thank you for lending us your gift for the evening.

Bonjour Chris,
Merci.

Words alone cannot describe your performance in Ottawa. What a magical night. The energy, excitement and passion you bring to the stage is what sets you apart from your peers. The saying, "it doesn't get any better than this," would be the easiest way to sum it up!
My family and I drove from Indianapolis to see you and it was worth every penny!
I would like to thank all the Canadians we met along the way. I now know why you like performing there. Their hospitality was excellent!
Having my family meet you back stage was a thrill of a lifetime. Even though we have never met before, because of your music through the years, we felt like we were meeting and old freind that we have not seen in awhile. Your honest appreciation towards your fans that visited you after the show that night, will stand as a legacy of who you are.
You picked up 3 more fans that night, and the drive back home was more enjoyable due to them singing your songs.
We are looking forward to your next concert tour. Hopefully, the U.S.A. will be included. If you do make it to the Indianapolis area, here is an open invitation to you so we can return the hospitality you showed us on that night.
Hoping and praying you have a safe tour and flight back home.

Dear Chris:
I want to let you know that I attended your outstanding solo concert in London, ON last night. I purchased a pair of tickets as soon as they went on sale and up until yesterday, I was going solo - and in saying that, your concert would have been worth the price of two seats! However, a friend accompanied me and we absolutely loved your show. I have been a fan of yours since the 'beginning' of your career - Last night we laughed, shed some tears and didn't want the show to end! Your lyrics are real and leave nothing to the imagination - they are absolutely beautiful - you are truly a gifted writer. Your tribute to Holly Jones was very very touching and I know the whole audience was with Holly last night. I hope you will return to London again in the not-too-distant future. Merci, merci mille fois! Aurevoir...mais juste qu'a la prochaine visite.

Wow! Caught your show last night in London. I bought the tickets as an anniversary present for my wife, but I think I secretly got them for me. We loved your solo show. You did lots of great old and some wonderful new songs. The one you dedicated to Holly Jones was especially poignant and there was hardly a dry eye in Centennial Hall. We clapped so hard to get you back on stage that my wife broke one of her silver rings!
Thanks for a great concert!

Dearest Chris
I just got home from your London concert. As quiet as the audience seemed, we were all singing with you in the balcony at stage right (your right). I have seen every concert tour you have done since the 80's, remember the one at the University of Calgary, Jack Singer, even the Dome, then I moved east, 3-4 years ago Toronto, and thought London would be intimate, and it was. I could see your smile loud and clear. Thank you so much. I was sending Reiki to you with love. I met you a few years ago in Calgary at Joey tomatoes after a show, remember you talking to me about you doing healing work as well. Bless you Chris, your songs of love and peace touched my heart and especially the one about Holly. YOU are the angel! Keep on with the healing work through your soul!

Hi Chris,
we just came back from our vacation in Quebec and wanted to say thank you for the two wonderful concerts in Montreal. We are the three German guys that you met on the plateau of that little hill in Montreal, and we appreciate very much that you had some time for us to sign our tourguide. After some more studying in the States we look forward to seeing you in Ludwigslust/Germany in the summer.
Please never stop playing music.Your music means so much to us and is an important part of our life,

Hey Chris...my wife and I are traveling to London ON to see your solo show tonight! I first saw you in 1979 and have been a huge fan since. This will be my 7th time experiencing one of your concerts but the first "solo" show....can't wait!
Your music has helped me through good times and bad, and I truly believe you are the greatest singer/songwriter of our era.

Hi Chris,
FLOWERS !!!
I am the lady that gave you flowers in Montreal - May 16, Place des Arts; not the lady in red but the lady in white and black !
I invited my nephew to my 5th CdeB concert and he discovered the artist you are.
Sitting there in the first row, the flowers . . . it was magic and one of the greatest moment of my life. Being that close was realy a fantastic sensation.
I hope this will happen to me again (with luck) and very soon. And if I'm realy lucky I will have also a chance to tell you how important you are to me.
Hope this message will get to you.
Take care.
Sincerely,
Monique x

Hi Chris. I have not seen you for 17 years. I was 5 and you were my first concert EVER. I still remember you walking along the top of the red-lit stage during "Spanish Train". It really upsets me that you are not touring out west. I wish you would come back to Vancouver.

Thank you Chris for a wonderful evening in Ottawa - I laughed, I cried, I sang and stomped my feet.
I don't have many regrets - I have a wonderful life and treasure every moment. But in 1978 I turned down an opportunity to see you play in Moncton High School's gothic theatre (New Brunswick). The organizers were looking for volunteer ushers. I'm not sure why I didn't go, but my sister won your Crusader album from a radio contest, and I played it that night and fell in love with the words and music.
I have been a fan ever since, and often imagine how it would have been to experience you, your words and music in that lovely theatre. It's still there....
Keep it up! ~Yvonne

Caught your solo show here in Ottawa and both the wife and I were totally impressed with the whole thing. The energy you give back to your fans is truly amazing and it is obvious you enjoy this type of show.
Thanks for a great time and don't be shy about making the next visit sooner than later!

Chris,
I just wanted to let you know what an great show you put on this evening. It was just like when I started to see you perform live in the eighties. Very nostalgic. You still have what it takes to "wow" the crowd with your comedy. And being able to fill two hours of comedy with a song or two, makes it all that much better!
Bravo on a fantastic show. You showed such emotion and heart singing from deep within your soul. You provided the crowd with inspiration and energy.
You my friend, are a great performer. And even a better person.
I look forwad to the next time.

Chris, fine tribute tonight to the little angle from Toronto now lost to the world. Do you think we woke George H. up at the end of the show. I was in Dun Lougherie in January (staying on Lower Leeson St) and Dublin was hoppin. And by ther way, I too was there in 1978 when you performed. The depth and maturity is certainly evident and a pleasure to experience. A wee bit of a fan as the saying goes. All the very best and enjoy the sights of Ottawa tomorrow (tulip festival).
Come back to Canada soon.

Dear Chris
Two nights ago, I saw your show at the Olympia. It was great. Last night I was there once again - this time at Pl des Arts - and saw what might have been the most enjoyable concert of all time. My throat will take some time to recover from all the singing and yelling. It was a great time. Would love to hear from you and perhaps meet you at one of the many great restaurants of Montreal.
A fan forever

Hi Chris,
Since the first night we visited in Halifax 1977, when you opened for Supertramp until my third time in Ottawa, I have travelled through your eyes with your songs. I have found great solice in them. "Diamond in the dark was the song my wife walked down the aisle to. About ten more played throughout the evening.
When you play Ottawa on the 17th of May,... Would you be so kind as to wish My "Diamond in the dark" Sylvie )10th row center) a "Very Happy 42nd Birthday"? She would be thrilled beyond your wildest imagination

I (unlike the majority on this page) have not been a fan for years and own everything you have produced.
I am 30 ok and possibly it is percieved as being a tad 'un-cool' to like your stuff. For my 30th birthday present I recieved from my brother a copy of your 'INTO THE LIGHT' album as a joke...
Well mate, the rattle and hum & the brothers in arms have dissapeared out of the car now! I can honestly say that I have never been as moved and even motivated by such fabulous magical masterpieces in my entire life!
All the Chris fans reading this please appreciate that this is a massive, HUGE compliment if you know me!
If I could sum this up with a few words they would include:
Inspired, Moved, struck numb with the enthusiasm which seems to be missing from the modern, dare I say 'COOL' performers around today.
I will be checking out all your other music here on in!
Fatal Hesitation and For Rosanna must change your life everytime you sing it!
They do with me in my little word.
Thanks Chris.

HI CHRIS,
I WAS VERY HAPPY TO LEARN THAT YOU WERE COMING TO SHERBROOKE CITY FOR AN INTIMATE CONCERT ON THE 2ND OF JUNE, YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH THIS IS A PERFECT TIMING! OBVIOUSLY I BOUGHT TICKETS!!!
IT WILL BE A VERY SPECIAL OCCASION FOR ME BECAUSE I'M OFFERING A TICKET TO MY LADY FOR HER 25TH BIRTHDAY THAT WILL TAKE PLACE THE NEXT WEEK. WE BOTH LOVE YOUR SONGS AND WE FIRST KISSED ON "LADY IN RED". SINCE THEN, IT'S BEEN LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT (NEAR 2 YEARS!).
SO, I WAS WONDERING AT FISRT IF YOU WOULD EVER GET THAT MESSAGE, AND IF YOU WERE GOING TO PLAY LADY IN RED DURING YOUR CONCERT IN SHERBROOKE. IF SO, AND IF YOU WANT TO OFFER A GIFT TO A VERY NICE GIRL FOR HER BIRTHDAY, CAN YOU DEDICATE HER THAT SONG? HER NAME IS AUDREY MARQUIS. SHE WOULD APPRECIATE IT SO MUCH...
IF THIS IS SOMETHING POSSIBLE AND IF YOU REMEMBER THIS ON THE 2ND OF JUNE, THAT WOULD BE JUST TOO CRAZY!!!
ANYWAYS, I'M VERY EXCITING ABOUT THAT SHOW!
PS: MY PARENTS SAW YOU A LONG TIME AGO IN SHERBROOKE FOR THE FIRST PART OF A SHOW BY SUPERTRAMP. WHAT THAY HAVE TOLD ME MANY TIMES AFTERWARD WAS THAT YOU WERE SO MUCH BETTER THAN SUPERTRAMP THAT PEOPLE ASKED YOU DURING THE "RAPPEL" INSTEAD OF SUPERTRAMP!!! DO YOU REMEMBER?
SEE YOU THERE

Hi Chris,
I've just been reading on Man on the line about the signed copies of " There's a new star in heaven tonight" and your question if anyone would like to acquire one. I think every fan would like to have one but i want to ask a copy not for myself but for a very big fan; Cora van Leeuwen. She has almost everything there is about you; CDs, LPs, videos, pictures, rare songs, you name it and she got it.
You know......... i don't know anyone else who deserves to have a copy more than she does!.
I hope she gets one!!
Lots of love, big kiss,

We are looking forward to see you again at the (Olympia) may 15. My wife (Robin) and I have been to just about every one of your concerts since the late seventies. We are coming for the first time with our eldest son (Eric) who is getting married this july 12. He's not necessarely a great fan but he's been exposed to your music since he was born and he wanted to hear you live at least once. We were married in a small Log Cabin Church in 1979 and one of our friends sang (In a Country Churchyard) at our wedding. It always has a special meaning for us when we hear it. Anyway I was hoping that you would somehow get this message before your visit to Montreal later this week (who knows) ? I want you to know how much joy your music as brought us over the past 25 years. God Bless.

Hi there Chris!
In answer to your question in MAN ON (THE) LINE on 9th May: yes, y e s, YES (- whoops, a little enthused, are we :)!?!).
But WHERE? WHEN? HOW? and above all: HOCH MUCH ;)???
In other words: is there any chance for a perfectly normal fan to get one of these rare copies of "There's a new star in heaven tonight"? I mean without coming into inheritance or winning at the lottery first :D?
- Because after planning and preparing a nice little summer tour including 6 concerts all around the country (involving tickets, travelling, hotels, etc.) I'm now doing a swift burst of mental arithmetic and arrive at an answer I don't really like that much... ;)) Talk about crazy...!!!
Where, oh WHERE will it all end?? (Don't answer THAT question %)!)
See you again soon! B

Hi Chris
From reading man on the line....you said you check this page every day. So in response to your question, I would be very interested in getting hold of the Princess Diana cd you said you have a few copies of. I am sure I am not the only one, so maybe auctioning the ones you have left on eBay for example, would be the best idea, and donating the proceeds to charity. I work for a children's charity so I know how much donations from auctions like this could help.
On a final note, hopefully for you to put a face to the name, I hassle you all over the country for 'every drop of rain', and have done for the last few years. Remember me?? Hope you keep your promise and keep smiling!!!
Thanks for the pleasure your concerts bring.

I am so excited about your concert on the 21st of May in Toronto. I enjoy listening to lots of music but I inevitably always have at least one of your CDs in the player. Having been to a couple of your performances in Toronto when I was a single person living in downtown Toronto were unforgettable experiences for me. Even though I'm now a mother of two living in a small town, I would never dream of missing this performance. It will be worth the long day and late night and even having my mother-in-law watch the kids!!! ;-)

Hello Dear Chris:
I can`t say anything, because you say
everything with your soul and your feeling.
So, my favorite poet ""Hafiz"", says:
Last night, in our circle, the late of Thy trees was;
Until the heart of the night , speech regarding The CHAIN OF THY HAIR was.
Again, desirous of the bow- house of Thy eye-brow was.
Pardon the wind, because it brought a message from Thee;
And, if not; for we reached none , who, from the head of Thy street , was.
Of the tumult and the upper of love, the world had no news;
The calamity- exciter of the world , Thy glance of sorcery was.
I,head-bewildered,also was of the people of safety;
the coil of Thy black tress, the snare of my Path was.
Loose the fastening of Thy coat , so that my heart may expand;
For the openness that was mine, from Thy side was.
By Thy fidelity pass by tomb HAFIZ
Who went from the world ; and ,in desire of Thy face was.

Although I am not able to attend this concert I will definitely attend any future concerts here in Toronto or any city within driving distance, and will be increasing me Chris de Burgh music collection.
I am taking a stand by boycotting any artist who has cancelled their engagements and will make a concerted effort to support all who support Toronto! Please take in all of the sites our wonderful city has to offer. Enjoy yourself here as much as we enjoy having you!
