I first discovered Chris' music when MTV began to run "Don't Pay The Ferryman". Immediately, I fell in love with his style of music. Singer/Songwriters have always captured my fancy (Dylan, Lennon/McCartney, Paul Simon, Harry Chapin), and Chris ranks right up there near the top. Thanks for all the beautiful music, Chris, and please, for art sake, keep on making your kind of music.

I'd like to direct this note only to fans from DOWN UNDER: G'day! In a recent guestbook entry from Australia someone complained that CdeB's albums were hard to get there. - Which prompted this idea: If anyone of you has difficulty in finding eg a particular CD or is interested in video-recordings of some of Chris' TV-appearances or maybe some good concert photos, I will gladly see what I can do to help you. It would be nice to double the joy by sharing it :) !! But as you may have guessed, I have an ulterior motive in doing this: I'm looking for a kind person in the Land of Oz who might perhaps be able and willing to do me a great favour in return (ie send me a certain film on video/DVD that doesn't seem to be available for mail order anywhere). Do you want to see and hear some more of Chris AND make some complete stranger up here on the opposite side of the globe extremely happy?? Then please contact me! That will be your "good deed" for the day and surely you won't regret it ;) ... Come on, I'm hoping to hear from you!

I have never really understood all the hype that went on for C. de B. I always associated him with The Lady in Red - the most corny ballad/song ever. But, and I repeat but, lately I heard two songs on the radio in the same day on the same station - Borderline & Spanish Train! Wow oh f%&^$£* wow! Now, please can anyone help me buy a best of album? Is there anything with those two songs in it? Were they ever released as singles? I would really appreceate all the help and maybe you can suggest an album which can help me as an inroduction to C. de B. Thank you and keep up the good work on the site!

Chris -

I just wanted to let you know that I have been a fan of yours for over 12 years. I first heard of you with the beautiful song "Suddenly love" when I was in a small city of my country. Since that I 've been looking for all your records to buy but here in Brasil, we don't have many places to buy. I just have two: "Flying Colours" , "Beautiful Dreams" and "The love songs". Thank you for write, sing and share your feelings with the rest of the world. Your music seems to come from the heart. This is my first visit to this site. The first of many more. Thank you for the music and the good memories.

How nice to have a website to discuse the most wonderful songs of our hearts, played by the man who sings them beautifully.
We learned more from him and about him and concerts than the 18 years before without the website!

§$°%&^#*() - I just can't believe it! The internet is fraught with perils!! I'm brimming over with things to say but, for some obscure reason, it doesn't work. Has this thing gone all screwy or does the fault lie with me?? Anyhow, let's give it another try - part II:

Hoping that Chris himself will log on to the website while trying to handle his (quote) "confuser" again ;), I'd also like to address a few words to him: Hey Chris!
I'm still completely out of breath - this time from skipping around the room, singing along with you and the people from Volendam. Me before :´( and after :)) watching this concert tape... In fact, it was like the gentle touch of the first sun in spring or like a fresh breeze and a drink of water in the summer heat - stimulation and relief at the same time. Must be great to have so much to give! You've put me into high spirits as you've done so many times before; feels like having a really close friend next door!! Aaahh - the warmth, the thrill, the FUN of it... - life is so good after all!!!
BTW, I'm pretty sure Sibylle will share my thoughts and excitement concerning this video [;)!] - she'll probably freak as well when she sees it...

Told you I needed to let off some surplus enthusiasm... - third (and last!) part:

Well, the video mentioned in parts I and II of this (admittedly somewhat strange) guestbook entry and the memories and TV recordings of the Night of the Proms in Rotterdam and Munich will hopefully help us through the "concertless" times around these parts until we'll meet again in Stuttgart, Dortmund, Grefrath, Cologne, Minden, Oberhausen or... - PARIS (yeah!)!? But I'm told that - patience is a virtue...!!! - ?

Okay, I think that's my daily quota of exclamation points (wow, I find it very cathartic at times to do such alleviation!)...

Allow me to make one final remark though: thanks a lot to all of you who work on this site, making it what it is, and thereby providing people like me with the opportunity to give full vent to their feelings...

Do look after yourselves everybody!

Hi to everyone who drops by to read this
(- Do we have taste or what?!)

I have been lurking around here (sorry!), taking the occasional peep when going for my regular CdeB online fix, but somehow reluctant to post.
This once, however, I simply must SHOUT
it out to the world (and this is the best way to do it)... :@
Only a few hours ago I was hit by a wave of emotions (pleasure+pain, laughter+tears, joy+sadness...) and I'll
just have to let them spill over now;
so here goes...

Today I got this "care package" from Holland - the Volendam video (woohoo!)!

Hello, thanks and kudos to all those involved in the project! That was exactly what I needed right now! As we all know, there's nothing like a proper dose of CdeB to take one's mind off one's little troubles. Anyway, the feelgood factor has had an immediate impact, so thanks again for "rendering
first aid"! You did a very good job!!
What heart- and soulful performance! Actually, I'd like to thank Chris for his passion and commitment and to join him in his empathy with the people of Volendam. What became especially clear that night is that, fortunately, there's always a silver lining...

Hi also to Chris (hoping you'll click on to the website while trying to tackle your

Dear Chris

I just wanted to say that I love your music. Being a seaman, I love your use of nautical imagery in most of your songs. My greatest wish is that I might one day write a PHD thesis on the use of such imagery in your work.

Dear Chris,
Where to start?Oh,with a huge thanks to you,the man that has completely changed, moulded better my personality & character..
I am 19 years old, live in Greece & I have all his albums, and I hear them every day..I listen since the last 10 years, and I am anticipating for a new album...
"We've got dreams to live and love to give and I know it in my heart and soul where will we be going"
"She is like a bird yearning for the winter's wind, if you let her go she'll come again in springtime, but if you make her stay and hold her freedom in your hands, in the morning you will wait and she'll be gone, away.."
"To feel the wind, to see the sky, to hear the waves breaking on the shore again, to be with you, to lye with you, to hear your voice echo through the hills again, oh my darling wait for me, cause I will be there, when it is over, when it is over, yes I will return one day.."
I find these lyrics just..awesome,they just came to mind,if I wanted to write the lyrics that I like the most, I would simply write ALL THE LYRICS:--)
You had come to Greece when I was a little child, and I hadn't listened your performance, now I prey to God every day that you come to Greece one day, so that I can hear you live..I would give EVERYTHING for this..And if you don't come, don't worry, one day I will come to the places you play only to hear you:-)..
THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC,

Loukas

I have to say I'm a big fan of Spanish Train & Other stories.

I got it as a Christmas present years ago and have listened to it ever since.

What I'm curious about is if Chris de Burgh has any other 'story' albums, because this one cracks me up.

(I keep telling people about Patricia the Stripper, I think that's my favorite).

Thanks for the great album!

Chris De Burgh's number one hit "The Lady In Red" back in 1986 one of the most romantic songs of all time. I would like Chris to top the charts when he takes out his new album. If Cliff Richard and Elton John can top the charts so can Chris De Burgh.

I am really looking forward when Chris releases his new album I wonder what his new songs are going to be like. Some rock and some of his love songs. I'm also looking forward in seeing Chris in Glasgow SECC in November 2002. You do tour up here in Scotland only in Glasgow I'm just wondering maybe one day you could tour up in Aberdeen. Anyway I just Can't wait to see you again in November 4th up here in Scotland.

Thanks again

My wife and I are long time fans but have joined the fan club only recently. Being both French-canadians, we greatly appreciated the two French songs « Quand Je Pense À Toi » and « Le Coeur d'Une Femme ». The lyrics in the CD sleeves and at the website are slightly of poor quality and I would be happy to offer my help if needed. I even would like to suggest that you add a fourth verse to the French version of "A Woman's Heart". I have no way of knowing if you will read this but in the meantime: « Continue ton très beau travail et à la prochaine ... »

Sorrow has a human heart
From my god it will depart
I'd sail before a thousand moons
Never finding where to go

Two hundred twenty-two days of light
Will be desired by a night
A moment for the poet's play
Until there's nothing left to say

I wish for this nighttime
to last for a lifetime
The darkness around me
Shores of a solar sea
Oh how I wish to go down with the sun
Sleeping
Weeping
With you
