Derby - England 1999/12/31 - 05:57 Dear Chris, A very happy new Millennium to you. I have seen you live 4 times now - the latest being at the NEC Birmingham on December 7th. There are too few opportunities to see you live as far as I am concerned. I still play Spark to a Flame all the time and had Quiet Revolution for Christmas. It is wonderfull! But Borderline is my favourite of all time. Lynne.

It was the X-time (I forgot COUNTING) I saw a concert of you and again it was enormous. Still the BEST MUSIC I ever heard in my life. Because you songs are played with LOVE and TENDER like Natasha. Who is she? The Beatles would play you’re songs, if…, so please I prefer that you play until the END OF THE DAY your own music.

Hamburg - Germany 1999/12/23 - 08:25 The last CdeB concert I visited was on Okt.,31th in Hamburg. It was realy great, like any other one I've been to (which were a lot ). Afterwards I went to an irish pup to meet some friends and after telling them abaut the concert I've been asked:" This guy is really a part of your life, isn't he ?" I was kind of stunned. I've never seen it that way, never even thought about it. The first time I ever heard of somebody named Chris de Burgh was on my 15th birthday, which was twenty years ago now. Nearly everything in my life has changed during the last twenty years. The things I do, the people I know, the way I think and even the music I like. There are only three things that last: My family, a few old friends and the music of CdeB. Somebody I never met personally and most certainly never will ( what I surely regret ) is part of the few things in my life that lasts. How amazing ! He surely hasn't changed my life. Not at all. But he somehow joined it. His music eases the bad times and make the good times even better. For twenty years now, I buy every record and go to every concert that I can reach. And I never thought of it as something special. Now, that i'm sittig here, writing down my thoughts, I wonder wether Chris ever realisis that his career mean much more than just good music to most of us. In a time that changes nearly every day I'm going to take the things that last as a gift. I wish you all a merry x-mas and a happy new year and may Chris go on for many, many years. Love Karin P.S.: It tokk me hours to translate german thoughts into english sentences. So I hope whoever may read this, will undertstand.

70736 Fellbach - Germany 1999/12/22 - 18:25 Dear Chris, my favourite songs are "my lover is" and "quiet revolution". Your concert in Stuttgart was great, only the acustics could be better, therefore the songs without the band seemed more original. People from about 10years up to 60 listened to your songs. They were going "straight to the heart"...and I think your kind of music is part of the quiet revolution which is really going on... Keep on writing such songs! A successful year 2000 Yours Hans-Dieter

Willich - Germany 1999/12/21 - 13:10 Hi Chris! Thank you for coming to Oberhausen - I really enjoyed the concert. I gave my mother a ticket for her birthday and I must say it was the most amazingly present for her for a long time (I just gave it to her because I wanted to join the concert by myself). So thank you very very much. It was a great event! I must tell you I am a member of a kind of church-group who designs a divine service for christmas and I played the song "Spaceman came travelling", because I thought it would be very important to give people hope to believe that there will come a leader (as the text says "When 2000 years of your time has gone by this song will begin once again to a babys cry"). I think the people have understood the message. Well, I hope so. But it was real fantastic and I was "high on emotion" when I got the applause from the audience (well, at least there were only forty-five people in the church -> It`s a very small church). Hope to see you next summer in Grefrath/Germany -> small town (everything around here is very small as me, because I think I'm not bigger than you -> height), because I know I will get a ticket from Santa Clause (I spied!). See you soon and don't loose your energy of making me happy with your songs, sweet kisses, Dörthe

I can't say I have one particular favorite-everything song I've heard so far I like. September 9th I was married and we danced to Here Is Your Paradise. My four year old niece knows and loves the song In a Country Churchyard. Bischofsheim - Germany 1999/12/16 - 05:27 Hi Chris, joined your concert in Festhalle Frankfurt (Germany). As allways I liked most your single performance with the unplugged character. The best concert I have ever seen in my life was in Mannheim in 1997 when you did that kind of club sessions with P. Oxendale and a quartett of violines and other classical instruments. Do that again. I like unplugged sessions because there is no chance to hide something. Keep on playing for a long time. Bye, Frank

Louise Elizabeth (
Loughton, Essex (nr London) - 1999/12/13 - 14:37 I just want to say how sad it is that some of the upper class (or who think they are upper class) - I guess the usual word is 'snobs' who attended Chris de Burgh's Royal Albert Hall concert last Saturday 11 December were unable to move from their seats and actually 'muck in' with everyone else to create a 'party' 'enjoyable' atmosphere that is suppose to be had at a cdeb concert. Luckily, Chris de Burgh and the band did a wonderful, energising concert which made up for the 'damp' and snobbery atmosphere which the minority encouraged. I have to say that after 10 years of seeing cdeb in concerts and after the excellent concerts in Germany, Birmingham and Bournemouth this year, I hoped that my LOCAL concert would be the best......but of course, the boring, typical, think they are the best type of Londoners (usually owning the new shape Jaguar)..I know, because I live near them all!! managed to take away the electrifying atmosphere which there should have been on Chris' last concert of his tour this year. So one asks the question - was superglue pasted on the the chairs in the Albert Hall?? Were special pills handed out at the door to make people particularly moody?? Oh no, sorry, it was just the fact that there were too many "I am above the rest" type of people there. And why were there so many GROUCHY old men in suits at the concert??? Did they think they were attending a rendition of Motzart 'classical' concert? Or perhaps they had fallen asleep at the last classical concert and hadn't moved since 1975? Don't get me wrong.......I have nothing against upper class/ rich people. I am one myself............middle class, privately educated, degree and all that ...but for heavens sake.....it makes me ashamed to be from those roots......there is nothing wrong with letting your hair down and actually joining in with everyone....no matter what their background. Chris de Burgh's music is for everyone, whoever they are and wherever they come from........thats it's appeal. There are USUALLY NO DIVISIONS at his concerts. But there was on Saturday and that was sad....very sad. Hopefully it was just a blip!! I just want to say to all those miserable people who attended - if they read this (although are unlikely to, because they are so boring that they don't even agree with computers!) Please, lighten up and get out of your GUCCI suit and go to the next cdeb concert in your JEANS - go on....let your hair down......enjoy yourselves..have some fun....... who cares what people think of you....you only live once. ps If any of you feel that you need some therapy...you can surely afford it....I have a psychology and Social Science degree and I'm a qualified social Worker.......maybe I could help you overcome your grouchiness???!! See you all at the next concert......DANCING!! Yours Louise

Burton On Trent - UK 1999/12/08 - 15:32 Dear Chris Being a fan of yours since I was 14, I just wanted to say Thanks for the wonderfull music, and for giving so much inspiration and joy to so many people. Growing up in South Africa, I went to your 1993 concert, which was great. Only problem was, I was 6 months pregnant, and couldn't get up and groove. However, last night my lifelong dream came true. I saw you at the Birmingham NEC, and may I say, the wait was worthwhile. You were FANTASTIC. Three hours of beautiful music, I was on a high all day today. Once again, thanks for the lovely evening and all the years of enjoyable music. Here's to the next 20! Love Emma

Marl - Germany 1999/12/08 - 12:44 Dear Chris, we - that´s my husband and modest myself - had the pleasure of attending your smashing concert at Dortmund last month. It was definitely fine. What else could I tell you in praise of your talents - I just read so much in your guestbook. Personally, I am charmed by your gifts as comedian. I always love the jokes in between almost as much as the music. Also, I´m deeply impressed by reading that your multilingual capacities include understanding strange languages such as French (well, that depends, of course) or Danish, just to mention some of them, disregarding Gaelic, of course. Well, I will never forget the Dortmund concert, when you sang "Rosanna" on my request. We´ve got two little boys, and I think you would agree with me that an experience like that - taking the responsibility for a child and receiving his/her love in return is a gift beyond any measurable value. Go on making music and touching people´s hearts. See you again next time Your unknown friend, Annette

Brighton - England 1999/12/07 - 05:54 I saw Chris on Watchdog on Friday. He rocked. He should have been on top of the pops though. He should be Christmas number one as Cliff Richards song is terrible. Chris should record duets as it will widen his audience appeal. Tom Jones and Frank Sinatra both did it to great effect. Perhaps he could consider Jane Macdonald or Beverly Craven.

düsseldorf - germany 1999/12/07 - 02:37 hey chris, i'm 23 years old and i'm listening to your music for the last 14 years...your new album is triffic, back to your roots i think...my favourite will always be "borderline", because it remainds me on the troubles in ireland, and as i work in an irish pub as a manegress and as i have hibbs of irish friends i might know a bit more about it than the most german people, i don't want to start writin' about politics, but u can remember the bomb in omaha last year in august...i was in enniskillen that day...one hour drive away...it let u start thinkin' diffrent about life...i lost friends that day...anyway keep going with your brillinat work and i might see u in ireland,as i'm going to move to ireland for good next year...galway is waitin' for me... best wishes for the future and loads of luv...meike

Schwäbisch Gmünd - Germany 1999/12/06 - 14:11 Dear Chris, Your new album is really great! Looking at the songs you wrote in the last 24 years, it is obvious that you are a man of faith and believe. But I was deeply amazed by the smashing fakt that you, as such an popular artist, have made a song about the Quiet Revolution! I hope this song make many people think of its meaning and make them watch out and reach out for a better world. Much love to you and your family and bless for your work! Hopefully waiting for lots of new songs and further concerts, Frank

Seewen/Schwyz - Switzerland 1999/12/02 - 05:33 Hi Chris and Band !!! First of all: thank you very much for the great and beautiful concert in Zürich two weeks ago. The first two songs weren't very well mixed or to loud, I don't know. Somehow they had some problems with the audio mixer. But the rest of the concert was excellent. The only thing that really troubled me were the chairs. To get the real kick you have to stay in the midst of a lot of other people who go with the music, too. There are enough seats available in the Hallenstadion for people who really want to sit, they don't have to put additional chairs in. I'll let the Swiss organiser know, too. Nevertheless I enjoyed the concert very much and I really hope you come back to Switzerland very soon, as you promised. And Chris: ......... there's still snow here ......... !!! To you, your family and all the people you care for: A very Happy Christmas and all the Best for the Year 2000 !!! Love IRIS

Oberursel (near Frankfurt) - Germany 1999/12/01 - 07:12 Dear Chris, though it´s already one month ago, I often think of your concert in Frankfurt in the Festhalle. I had always liked your songs but I never had the wish to visit one of your concerts all the years. But after a radio station (FFH) in Frankfurt presented some songs of your new album (Quiet Revolution) I became curious and bought two tickets for me and my husband to go to your concert - and now I know what I have missed all the last years!!! I was completely charmed about your voice and your songs and about your person! Even my husband, who doesn´t like concerts very much, was fascinated and likes listening to your songs. We have a little daughter of nearly 3 years, so it was long ago that we had such a romantic evening like this 2 th of november in Frankfurt. And also it will be the last concert for about the next three years - we´ll have another baby next year in may.... Thank you Chris for this wonderful concert, we hope to see you again!!! I really would like to meet you sometimes personally to talk about your songs, about your person and so on - but this probably will remain only a dream...("A woman´s heart is filled with dreaming...") Dear Chris, I already wish you a merry christmas and all the best for your future and I look forward to your next concert! I hope you could understand my english, perhaps you could answer my mail???
