Dear Chris,
since around one week I'm holding "Now and Then" in my hands with your opening words and I want to write you something back, for it looked to me like a little letter.
It is true, the choice you made brings back some memories to wonderful concerts I could hear in Germany from you, some like Salem, Wülzburg, Augsburg, Ingolstadt, Chiemsee last year, where the sails were set beside the stage, Gymnich and some more. Different pictures to different places are comming up in my mind, to every song another picture! It is lovely to drive in the sun to this album with the yellow fields at the moment.
And what I really like is that you took "Much more than this" and "Suddenly Love" in this album, what is a very special memory for me, for you answered me one of my questions in your MOLT about it to my surprise some years ago. So this all was familiar to me.
What is new, is the duett "Two Sides To Every Story". It is not difficult to sing, I love this flirting fight in this song.
Perhaps you are thinking I'm dreaming, but it is not a dream and to have seen you had really been a great inspiration for me to try to write some songs. I have not much until now, but next week we will record another new one and I love to do this little work in music.
Thank you very much for your inspiration Chris. It lightens my days until we see us again.
For the journey to Iran I wish you all the best.
Well Chris I'd like to end this little answer to your CD-letter with some words, which could perhaps give a new song one day:
"With every little thing
I'm holding in my hands tonight
I feel it is you and you
And you by my side;
Every step you made
Every word you said
Everything you do
Could be a moment with you..."
still with love
Monika

Dear Chris!
I would like to thank you for the song "Leningrag" and your respectful and sympathetic attitude to Russian history of that difficult period. Today is the Victory Day in Russia and your song acquires a special importance and meaning. I've sung it twice today in a duet with my 12-year-old son who extremely enjoys it too.
Thank you once more,
Take care,

Hi Chris,
Some years ago when I was back home I translated a book that blew out the market. People were running for it and I personally have not seen a hit book in Iran to sell as fast as that book. The book was called Chris De Burigh's Lyrics. It was such dream for me to be connected t a name I loved for years and started to understand English with. So, I have to thank you for that. The book being published in a dodgy place like my country did not give me no financial help although I was in need of money quite desperately, but gave me a fantastic support and back up by so many people I did not know at all. Not only that, you wrote me back a reply to say that you never knew your lyircs were traslated in Iran and Iran had been a dream country for you to give concert in. Well, it seems that dream is coming true and you will be going there to see the enthusiasts who have been cut off the entire world just because they are 'IRANIAN'. I wish I could be there. Good luck.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/persian/arts/story/2008/04/080427_wkf-mm-singer-iran.shtml
I don't think that Chris has ever had a concert in Iran but I am sure that, should he succeed in this mission, that would be our honor to host Chris in homeland, Iran.

Don't Pay The Ferryman
It was late at night on the open road,
Speeding like a man on the run,
A lifetime spent preparing for the journey;
He is closer now and the search is on,
Reading from a map in the mind,
Yes there's the ragged hill,
And there's the boat on the river.
And when the rain came down,
He heard a wild dog howl,
There were voices in the night - "Don't do it!"
Voices out of sight - "Don't do it!
Too many men have failed before,
Whatever you do,
Don't pay the ferryman,
Don't even fix a price,
Don't pay the ferryman,
Until he gets you to the other side;"
In the rolling mist, then he gets on board,
Now there'll be no turning back,
Beware that hooded old man at the rudder,
And then the lightning flashed, and the thunder roared,
And people calling out his name,
And dancing bones that jabbered and a-moaned
On the water.
And then the ferryman said,
"There is trouble ahead,
So you must pay me now," - "Don't do it!"
"You must pay me now," - "Don't do it!"
And still that voice came from beyond,
"Whatever you do,
Don't pay the ferryman,
Don't even fix a price,
Don't pay the ferryman,
Until he gets you to the other side;
Don't pay - the ferryman!"

There are those who think that love comes with a lifetime guarantee,
But we know from those around us, that this may not always be,
It’s the simple things that come between a father and a son,
But when they try to talk, the knives are out before they have begun;
Well that was me, and I have seen the light that shines for eternity,
Because I learned to say the words “I love you;”
So many hearts have been broken by the lies of history,
And so many arms are still open for that final mystery;
We must show respect for all the rest, and what a man believes,
And the one who died upon the cross, well he is the one for me,
And he said “Come with me and you will see the light that shines
For eternity, be strong and learn to say the words “I love you;”
And this endless road that we are on just keeps on going round,
But there’s one destination that always is here to be found;
So come with me, and you will see the light that shines for eternity,
Be strong and learn to say the words “I love you,”
Be strong and learn to say the words “I love you,” the words “I love you,”
The words “I love you,” the words “I love you.”

Hi Chris,
What a treat to see you on television in the U.K. this week to promote your latest album "Now And Then".
The 'Loose Women' show was especially good fun! Lovely to hear such a beautiful live rendition of TLIR, particularly after your 'treatment' of the song during Concerts recently! ;-)
Btw I love "Live For The Day" - it's is so catchy it won't leave my head!

Dear Chris,
what a wonderful evening today. I *m just watching this new interview, while I actually can feel how much differences are in this town to all the strange people from time to time. We are working with children from different nation, who all live in this town together and sometimes get in touch for playing in the afternoon in a small room for sliding and other things. Sometimes I had met french, australian, turkish, italian, chinese, japanese, spanish, swizz children and their parents and mostly the time we had was very good together. So I live in a town where all this is reality to live together in one world and I am so happy that you made this song for the whole world. I think it is a beginning dream to live together without great differences between nations, maybe a hope of us all , when we have to look to all the wars around for years and could not understand why humans use such weapons against each other in a time where are so much catastrophies in the world.
Just wanted to say thank you for this very good interview to listen.
And I still remember this time, when you had been in Ingolstadt on your Road to Freedom Tour singing "Live Of a Child" live here and I was very touched by this song, not to forget your explanations about "Lebanes Night" and performing it live here in this town. When will you come to visit this town, where I *m actually living again? I would be very happy about it.
Hate, about you talked in this interview was shortly a great topic in this town so sometimes I feel a bit lonely in my fights for a better understanding here, but we are continually fighting for peace and understanding.
with love
Monika

Hi Chris!
I am glad that you're coming to Iran. We iranian love music, love you and your songs. I hope your concert and your presence in Iran gives a signal to our politicians that an obvious right of listening to the music is taken from us during last 30 years. You have said that you just do music and not politics. That's the right thing, but there are mean and unintelligent people who have power in Iran and don't understand the power of beauty and of music. Show them that you do your music and they have to obey the music and the will of people. I hope your presence in Iran is going to be a symbol of light, beauty and democracy against darkness, cruelty and religious fascism.
Thanks

I was at the concert in Aarhus along with my brother, who lives there. We´ve been fans of Chris´ since 1986 (I´m 38, and he´s 40), when I buyed a 5-lp box set, and we wore it out in just about two years. My brother went to a Chris-concert - also in Aarhus - in 1989, and I was devastated not to be able to join him. But this time we went together, finally! And we were very excited both of us. We had foretold, that it would not be a full house, and it wasn´t. We were also quite sure that the audience would be people our age and older, and indeed most people seemed to be aged from 40 and up. My brother had not heard The Storyman more than once or twice, so he didn´t know the new songs, but he was very impressed afterwards ("What did he say that one was called - was it The Grace of a - - dancer or what?"). So was I - One World, My Father´s Eyes and Spirit in particular were incredibly well played.
We found Chris to be very relaxed and personal, sort of humble, actually - he seemed very thankful that people had come to see and listen to him. We also found him very entertaining, very funny, especially with the Britney-thing, which made us laugh hysterically (my brother used to be a Britney-fan). The selection of songs were wonderful. When he did the acoustic version of The lady In red we were surprised, and we were thrilled and delighted to se Chris walk among the audience. He passed right by us on the right side of the hall, and it was magic! Afterwards I said to my brother: "We could actually have reached out and touch him". My brother said "I don´t know what I would have done, if he had sat himself next to me."
We were surprised how well the electric set was played, and we both agreed that the music benefited from the fact, that they played the songs from the present band´s perspective, and not trying to imitate the sound of the original recordings the way you hear it on Live from Dublin. The band was extremely tight and professional, and I was particularly impressed with Missing You (incredible guitar at the end)Living in The World and Bal Masque - the last two are really songs none of us have noticed for real before. We also agreed that the drummer was completely incredible - he played like thunder, with a precision like a machine. Chris played just about everything I wanted to hear - my bro would have liked The Revolution instead of The Leader-Vision-What About Me, and I would have liked to hear The Mirror of The Soul, but then you can´t have everything. When Chris went about shaking hands and giving hugs at the end of the show, we agreed that that was one really cool move, and it confirmed to us, that Chris loves his audience - he is close and he is personal. We were also very impressed with the length of the concert - 2 hours and 15 minutes. Not many musicians at his age plays for so long or indeed so well. Chris´ voice was also remarkable. For one thing he sings better now that he has ever done, and his voice did not lose anything of its power, clear pitch or intensity in the live situation, and it did not wear out at all during the show (-you may want to compare this with Freddie Mercury, who was an incredible singer, but he was never nearly as good live as he was in the studio). Impressive, since Chris´ way of singing his songs is very demanding for other singers (-I know it for a fact: I´m a singer...!).
We got our money´s worth - and much more! It was without question the best concert I have ever attended, and since Chris is my favourite musician, it could not possibly have been a better evening (except if one got a chance to hang out with the Man himself...!). We were in high spirits when the show ended, and we went to my brothers house and spent most of the night discussing the concert and drinking beer. A thrilling experience to finally se our personal legendary hero.

Hello Chris, hello everybody !!!
On May 15, I'll be back in Dublin...
Now my story: I've been listing to Chris's Music since 1980...my first Concert was a CdB Concer..1982 in Stuttgart Germany....
In 1991 me an my Girlfriend and some other guys have made a Ireland-vacation. I can't remember how...but we've found the home of CdB in Dalky.
We know from a German TV-Doku that he lives nearby a Church..rebuid to a house...so we ring the bell, and his wive said, that he is at the racetrack...so we shoul wait a couple of minutes..he's on the way home...so we wait..an suddenly he came just around the courner..with his little daughter...(as we know..now miss world)...in 1991..I think 5 years old...so we talk for a while...make one picture..and we were happy..
Now...17 years later we will visit you/him again...but I can't remember the street where he lives.....anybody knows that ???
Thank you very much....

Hi Chris,
just wanted to say "thank you" for the concerts in Denmark. It was great to see and listen to you again.
A couple of really nice and interesting days in a country I haven't been to before. But Denmark is definitely a place worth visiting and we enjoyed travelling there very much.
Hopefully you had a safe journey back home like we did.
Take care and see you again later this year.

Dear Chris de Burgh
Thank you for a very great konsert in Hillerød 9. april 2008. I have waited a long time for seeing you live. You didn't play my all time favorit Songbird. But you are forgiven, you could not play them all.

Thank You Chris and Band,
The concert Wednesday night was wonderful! To stay at Hotel Hamlet in Helsingør and cross Øresund with the ferry named like the “sweet prince” was a nice coincidence. The Kronborg Castle´s Royal Apartments and the Chapel were interesting. After the dark trip underground in the Casemates it felt nice to take the train to Hillerød and step inside. How welcoming it was for Lars and me to hear your sound check through the doors! The concert itself was splendid and we will carry this night “like a fire…” Your concerts mean so much. They participate in the alert lifestyle we prefer.

Hello Chris.
Thank you very much for a fantastic concert in Århus, Denmark yesterday!
I have been a fan for many years and had brought my two daughters aged 12 and 15 as a surprise for them. About a year ago I introduced them to some of your old songs and they immediately were thrilled. The 15-year-old - like myself - is deeply fascinated by the stories you tell and she thinks a lot about the lyrics and contents. The 12-year-old expecially loves "Don't pay the ferryman" - she chose that song for an English project in school.
At the end of the concert they were lucky to get a hug from you and to see them so happy and excited brought tears to my eyes, I must admit.
Right now I can hear "Don't pay the ferryman" playing in one room and "The grace of a dancer" in the other. I'll go to the livingroom and listen to "A spaceman came travelling" - my absolute all time favourite!
Again, thank you for an amazing concert and thank you for making the music you do!
Best regards,
Birgitte

Hi Chris!
The concert yesterday in Esbjerg really inspired me. Strong melodies, nice lyrics and comedy :)
It was an honour to interview you and I hope you will keep on writing for many years. You are a great artist and performer. I love experienced singers teaching the pop-artists of today how to deliver songs in the perfect way. Many of the top-selling artists of today (Timberlake, Robbie Williams, Britney etc.) should go to your concerts and take notes! I often hear the words "I will go to see a concert" - and that is indeed the problem. The focus has been moved from the melodies to the visual performances. I go to concerts to LISTEN!
Once again.. thanks for the interview and a great experience.

When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of the storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet, silver song of a lark.
Walk on, through the wind,
Walk on, through the rain,
Though your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart,
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never walk alone
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart,
And you'll never walk alone,

Dear Mr. de Burgh,
I have just sent a note to your contact person on the website as I was again disappointed to see that you are, yet again, only visiting Zürich (CH) area this year for your European tour...;o( You have not been to the Swiss-French part since your INCREDIBLE solo concert in Lausanne back in the summer 2004....most artists overlook the Swiss French area but we are the best part of Switzerland ! Have you thought to play once at Montreux Jazz ? I am sure that Claude (Nobbs) would be happy to have you...its a wonderful atmosphere...well just a thought...at least I have your hug you so generously offered me back in 2004 as a wonderful souvenir...safe travels and thank you again for sharing your gorgeous talent with the world...shine on..

I am back from a definitely not planned trip to Duesseldorf. Instead of a relaxed weekend at home, I found myself sitting in the car on Saturday evening driving North :-) It was really nice to see and hear you again, even if just for three songs. Both Sibylle and I enjoyed a lovely Sunday in Dusseldorf.
And the "Footsteps"-album is for sure something to looking forward to.

Hello Chris,
I would like to wish you a good time in Denmark with your concerts next week, I guess there will also be quite a lot of Norwegians around - as they don´t have to travel so far ;-)
Looking much forward to seeing you back in Germany in summer. My own journey to Asia starts May 1st, and I hope the mailing list people don´t mind if I post some short travel notes on this one - anyway much better than hitting around myself and thus hitting also people whom I like much.
Enjoy your time, and thanks also for your recent MotL replies.

I have just found out that I have a big disease.
But I will remain optimistic because I know that with your music and songs like "The Ballad of Thunder Gulch" and "If Beds Could Talk" and "The Seduction of Lady Jane Seymour", I can make it through this hard time in my life.
Thanks for all your music, it means a lot to me =)
I'm thinking of building a shrine to you so that I can see your face most days too, while I listen to your music!!

O' Chris, with your eyes so bright,
How I love you with all my might,
I listen to you in the day,
I listen to you all the night,
And all the while I think of you,
Even when I'm in the loo,
And when I'm feeling rather down,
I put on ferryman and dance around,
Your eyebrows are like two bridges,
I'd like to walk across,
You're my main man, Chris,
You're my boss.
I was ill so I wrote you a lovely poem.

Hi Chris and Sophia,
I am just over reading the MOTL. You were talking about songs in 3/4 time. As my piano-teacher and I were working on "When Winter Comes", she said she thinks it is in 3/4 time. And when I look through the first notes we worked out now, it looks right in 3/4 time. By the way, Chris thank you a lot for your autograph in my piano-notes-book!:)) I'm still over it.

Dear Chris!
It's always difficult to begin writing a letter when there are so many things to say that you are at a loss what to begin with.
Perhaps I should say that I am an English teacher from Russia, the very lucky one to get your signature at the Moscow concert and the very lucky one to perform several lines of "The Lady in Red" at the same concert with you on 9th March. Unforgettable memories! I hope it is not TOO late to share my impressions of the concert with you. Paraphrasing your words in the interview about the making of "The Road to Freedom", I have been wearing the letter to you like a coat for more than two weeks and now it is high time to put everything I have to tell you on paper (Will you forgive me for such a long preamble?)
The concert was a real WONDER and the memories of it don't let me for a moment and haunt me wherever I were and whatever I did. Although nearly 3 weeks have passed since that day I can truly say that I am still plunged into that atmosphere and won't get out of it. The atmosphere you have brought into the audience - very sincere, very homelike, very genuine - cannot be compared with anything.
Having been your constant admirer for about 15 years I've learned a great deal of the lyrics and have taught them my numerous students. Be sure that all of them are as perfect performers of "The Lady in Red", "Carry me Like a Fire in your Heart";, "Missing you", etc. as you could possibly imagine! "LEARN AND STUDY ENGLISH GRAMMAR WITH CHRIS DE BURGH" - that is our motto. Such difficult (for Russian students) grammatical phenomena as Present Perfect and Present Perfect Continuous have become so easy to comprehend with YOU (What about starting a school!?)! Your texts full of such vivid metaphors as "your arms is the only place I know where peaceful waters flow" and similes "Carry me like a fire in your heart" deserve to be analysed from the linguistic and poetical points of view.
You have always been with me: both in happiness and in deep sorrow. Dear Chris, you have turned out to be "the saviour of my heart", no more no less. Sometimes your songs gave me a clue as to what to expect next. How could I know that the plot of the song ("Snow is Falling") at the sound of which my heart would sink for many reasons: the power of your voice pierced with interminate desperation, the heartrending power of music, the very lyrics would become mournful reality for m. You gave me a sign I had been too late to become aware of. But you have helped me to overcome everything. Thank you for giving me consolation!
And one more thing which I hope would be of interest to you. I am from the town of Klin situated to the north-west of Moscow (88km). The name of the town is closely connected with the name of the great Russian composer P.I. Chaikovsky. It is here where he spent the most prolific years of his creative activity. I would love to see you among the visitors to Chaikovsky's world-famous house-museum and be your guide about it if you wish. Come and enjoy the touch of Russian music culture, it is worth doing, really, Russian hospitality and cuisine provided!
To crown it all, I should say that writing this letter to you is the most thrilling, exciting and at the same time complicated work I've ever done (my master's thesis doesn't count); it is about limericks, by the way. Have you ever written one, I wonder? But all jokes aside, thank you once again for everything you do so generously for people. God bless you!
Take care of yourself!
And welcome to Russia!
"We'll be waiting here for you!"
Love, Nell

Dear Chris and fellow celebrators of Easter,
Christ is risen!!...He is risen indeed!! Alleluia!
Jesus came the first time to establish peace in the hearts of those who will believe in Him. He will come the second time to redeem those who believe, establishing eternal peace in a "new heaven and a new earth" Rev. 21:1a
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Rev. 21:4
Let us rejoice in His promises! Have a wonderful Easter and enjoy the Springtime and the hope that it bears.

Chris,
Not sure whether you ever actually read this guestbook, but i just wanted to say...
My dad use to love your music when I was younger - he use to blast out lonely sky, peaceful waters, ferryman, missing you, borderline and sailing away. As 'un-cool' as it was for me to have a dad to loving 'Chris de Burgh', we had some great times singing along in the car, and your music still stays with me today 15 years on.
I have 5-6 albums of yours and often think back to my younger days sitting in the back of my dads car. Those were great times and your music will probably stay with my dad for the rest of his life.
As for me, I have just started a family of my own. I love all of the new uk indie bands 'arctic monkeys' etc. so to like chris de burgh at my age is VERY, VERY UNCOOL. I personally though, don't care. I love your music and plan to blast it out in my car as my son gets older so that we can have the same sing-a-longs as I had with my dad.
Thanks for making such great records and being part of the soundtrack of my life.
Cheers. Simon.

I have many of your cd's wich I love and am always playing. I call your songs, "hart music", they make me go inside and listen to my hart. It is a wonderful gift that you have, and share with the world. If people every where would only listen to their harts, what changes we could make.
I have not yet been to a concert of yours, as you are not very often in Holland. I hope that this will change so that I, and many other may enjoy your music in person. It's not very far from Germany!

wow, great to hear a new song! It's so vivid and catchy, I like it very much :-))). Tina's great voice matches very good with your's, and it seems that you both have very much fun in singing together! The song really spends and spreads joy and remembers me on the worth of live.

just back from a very, very impressive journey to St. Petersburg, this wonderful city with a special athmosphere and so different from that I have in my mind. So I would like to say thank you so much for a wonderful concert on March 7. I have seen a lot of your concerts during the years but this one was a very special experience to me. During the last weeks I get very cordially contact to russian fans from the mailing list via e-mail and we met at the concert. It was such a wonderful feeling to share the emotions of the concert with friends ( greetings to Anya and Oksana :-) ). And the highlight was when you came down from the stage to make the dancing part of your show working !!! I have seen so many lucky and bright eyes around me.
So I am looking forward to see you in Germany in August !

Thank you for being so kind to take my flowers and the envelop... Well, it was unexpected for me when the lights turned off when I just walked upstairs and found myself on the stage. I really got lost standing there in the full darkness. Very good that at least I didn’t forget to say "thank you", as this situation with darkness put me out of order... :) Yes, your later comments - that you received the second letter during this concert to the ... (do not remember the word you said :)) ) lets say to the most wonderful man in the world – were funny. :))
Thank you very much for your concert in Moscow! It is always such a joy for me to be on your concert, to see you, to hear you singing, to feel the love that is going from your heart! It is really great when you are among us!
Well, these two concerts were so different... I have lots of different emotions in respect of them. I have even written two reviews like that one from Zurich...
Kind regards,
Anna Dolgikh

Cooee Chris from Trish an Aboriginal Australian,I have been a huge fan for many years and have seen you in concert twice.Having been involved with family issues related to health lately did not know about " Storyman" - forgive me but I have everything else you have ever created.I am looking for a copy but you are hard to get here Dragged my husband to your concert in Sydney once and now he sings with me - pretends not to know the words-but he does. He especially likes borderline - one of your many masterpieces.Keep singing, luv ya,love ya,love ya!

Hallo Storyman :-)
I don`t know, wheater you really read this. I`m nearly ashamed that I heard about this song so late. I must have slept for two years. The storyman, this is what I always have seen in you. Sometimes when I go to a store and looking for a cd, than I find your cd`s at the categorie pop/ rock. But this is not really what you are, cause there is always something other in most of your songs, something more than only pop and rock. And when I heard the sound of storyman and behind him the silent sound of middle age, I understood what you have always been. You are like a modern bard, in his dreams always going from town to towen, from castle to castle, always singing another story thats into your heart, and in every town you go, you get a new story, to tell it again at another place. The storyman, this is everything, this is the romantic, the rebel and also the pacifist(sometimes in a discrepance),the cynic, the mystic, this is maybe also the rock-singer, but this is only a smal, smal part of your person. Your whole soul is living in this song. The storyman ,that`s you.Stay like you are.
Greetings
Anja

Dear Chris!
I would like to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the wonderful concert in St-Petersburg. It was a great pleasure from the very first song up to the end. The song “Leningrad” touched me deeply. Thank you for the warmth of your heart and love you gave to the audience generously. Your voice is incredibly beautiful! I’m still under a strong impression from your fantastic singing!
I hope you come again!
Very best wishes!!

Hi Chris,
on MotL you asked, if people think it would be a good idea to continue with The Storyman. OF COURSE!! Your journeys into imagination have been the most fascinating part of your music for me since more than 20 years. What I love most, are your songs with epic length like The Mirror Of The Soul.
Thanks for your music!

Thank you for the amazing show. I've been in love with your music since 1992, and seen all your concerts in Moscow. But i've never seen what I saw on March 9th 2008! After the show I looked at the audience from the bottom of parter and saw hundreds of happy faces with "such a feeling of complete and utter love". That was great!
All Moscow is looking forward to seeing you again in Kremlin Palace.
Thank you! Thank you for everything you do.

Hi Chris,
How are you doing?
I'm just going to answer the question
that was at the end of your answer of
MOTL today (10/3/08 )
I would love to continue on the journey with you with a follow up
album of The Storyman.
I absolutley love The Storyman and as i've posted before i have a few favourites off the album...Grace Of A Dancer,.. The Shadow Of The Mountain... Raging Storm and Mirror Of The Soul. I remember hearing Grace of A Dancer on the radio WOW it really stood out to me it made me come out in goose pimples.
So it would be great to have a follow on to that album, (that's my opinion of course).
Take care Chris

Hello Chris,
It was very tempting to go to Russia or Turkey in addition to the other concerts we will attend. To meet spring and see your show in Denmark will be super. Your interesting songs always remind me of many different occurrences in human lives. The song Leningrad made me think of our own connection to Russia. My husband and children are related to the Czar family. A Russian man came here to restore a church after a fire, a long time ago. When the work was finished he stayed and married a girl here in Dalarna, our county. This Russian ancestor was a carrier of hemophilia. I´m grateful my husband and children don´t have the disease. Some other relatives have this blood clotting disorder. I am sure this forefather also added good factors to the genes.
Greetings from Maj-Britt

Dear Chris, isn't it strange how some things happen, I've just read Chris Raymonds' question on MOTL and would you believe that only on Tuesday I took my Beautiful Dreams cd to work so that my job share partner(who it seems is also a fan of the "Big O") could hear the "In Dreams" track, her verdict, it was excellent, of course I would have been dissapointed to have heard anything different. I was interested to read Alison's MOTL and Chris' reply. My little boy is 7 and really keen on Go Kart racing and the first time he did it I was really anxious and frightened. He loved it. But what is really ironic is that you can't wrap them up in cotton wool as Chris said and only last week my little boy went to the loo and trapped his little finger in the door resulting in having an operation to sew the tip back on. I watch him play football, tag rugby, gymnastics, biking and karting and have my mouth in my hands and then something trivial like going to the toilet results in an injury!!
Good luck, Chris on your tour and look forward to seeing you in the UK soon. x

Hi there,
I live in Newfoundland, Canada, and am a huge fan. I have attended your concert faithfully, except for November 2005. I had to undergo cancer surgery on Nov.7, 2005, the day of your concert. That was probably the most disappointing idea of the surgery (lol). My husband and I promised that we wouldn't miss another one. On monday, march 3/08, I have my annual ct scan (I should have said that the surgery was a sucess and I have been cancer free since Nov,2005), and a test like this always brings me back to that horrible time, and I thought of you (a good thought!). My husband said to check out your site and see if you'll be in our neighborhood soon. But you're on the other side of the world! I know your upcoming tours will be fabulous, and I'll keep checking back for your Canadian tour. Have a wonderful time!!!
Sincerely, Cathy

Dear Chris,
It seems to me that it is such a long time ago (July 2007) when I had the opportunity to listen to your meaningful songs - live. Can't help it, and I also cannot express how my ears terribly long for hearing again your strong voice (live) at the moment. Actually I do need any advice. Perhaps I am going to listen to your last year's wonderful solo radio concert which was on HR1. Hope that helps to chase away those 'withdrawal symptoms'. Anyway.
And how are you? Please keep on writing, recording, composing and SINGING/performing for the world.
Take good care - particularly while going on tour.
Good luck for the forthcoming concerts!
Miss you - even now, Gerlinde
P.S. I loved reading MOtL - February, 25, because 'The Road To Freedom' and 'The Storyman' are really/simply the best you have ever written. Thanks.

Dear Chris,
with joy I see that you are back on MOTL now. Imagine, short after the summer-tour I tried to learn to play "When Winter Comes" on piano as my first piano-melody as you know. I am not ready with learning and something very bad happened to me until Christmas. My right shoulder began to ache horrible! Sometimes it is to much to learn and to work so that I finally had to rest for a while. But I want to tell you that the blue scarf, which I got in your summer-concerts helped healing. It made the shoulder warm for weeks!:)) The whole aching is away now.
What a luck. And the doctor told me that is a wonder. It is reality and no joke. I am pleased about your answer about re-recording songs. Chris, I love the early songs like they are so much. Your voice had always been wonderful and it is completely right that some have strong memories to the young Chris in the old records. Just bought me the old one on CD, because the record-players are slowly giving up their ghosts, that the songs will not be lost in the first version! When I will have a bit more time, I will write you again. Oh yes, what I forgot is that the young generation about you wrote is still with me here in Germany and they do listen to your songs. The boys and girls are in the age between 2 and 8 years now and I made some wonderful experiences with them listening to your music. Collegues and children are very interested so I will bring them more often one of my CDs the next time and tell them about you, ok?
with love
Monika

Hello Chris,
This didn't quite turn into a question so I've written my thoughts here. I just read MOtL and specifically Feb. 19 about The Leader trilogy. You talked of the picture of the cavemen staring out at the sea and sky expectantly. Well, immediately it brought to mind a couple dreams that I had of a similar nature and thought I'd share them here.
One happened where I had been dragged from my bed and put on a bus by the people I had just filmed a film with. Apparently they were taking me for one more shot. I was extremely tired as we rode along. We happened to be driving down a road that ran along the beach. I found some strength and reached my head up to look out the window. As I stared toward the sea and sky, I sensed that something was coming. I felt a bit vulnerable as I had no strength in me.
In another dream, I was in a glass house with other people. The house seemed to be suspended in the sky almost. As I stared out the window I began to see clouds rolling towards us. My initial thought was, "What now?!" expecting some evil attackers again like 9/11. But then suddenly I see someone coming out of the clouds. I let out my breath with relief and joy exclaiming, "It's Jesus!" I felt in a moment; finally he has come, the evil can stop, our rescuer is here. It's going to be all right.
And so those were the pictures that formed in my mind in the stormy sleep of a dream.
P.S. This is strange! I just recalled that I had done an Industrial film in 1993 where I played a cavewoman and we filmed the first part on the beach off HWY 1 in Calif. Bizarre!
Take care.
Love,
Heather Bullock

May your life be filled with Love,
Love like coming from above,
Be loved the same way you do,
May all of your dreams come true,
Be loved for the man you are,
From the close and from the far,
For you are a shining star.

Dear Chris, Just wanted to say hello from Vancouver B.C. Have been an avid fan for over 25 years as are most of my family members. Your music has helped me get through some tough times in my life.Times when I thought I could not go on.For that I am eternaly gratefull.Would love to see you in concert here in Vancouver as it has been a long time since 1988 in Toronto with Danny and the boys.Hope you and your family enjoy 2008. Much love and God Bless.

Dear Chris,
Just dropping by to keep you posted in a few words about some new part of the unknown ocean in my soul. I would like to share with you that I finally have reached the end of the endless exam stress and I actually managed to pass my exams with great results! On the way I went against currents, into the wind and through storms, on and on I rowed, to the point of exhaustion, always heading for the course – but you see, I found the island; one out of millions. On Friday I took my spoken exam and altogether with the written ones I got a total 1.8 grade in system of taxation, accountancy, social and economic studies :-).
Hugs and kisses,
Yours Julia

Dear Chris,
thank you very much for your nice messages over your website to the begin of the new year. Yes, we will see us again in Germany on your summer-tour in August I've seen you will make a very long journey to Russia, Litauen and Lettland, Denmark and Istambul, so I want to wish you good luck and a very happy and enjoyable time there. Further I have heard that you will be in Iran for visiting historical places there so your interests in history can be fullfilled too?
I'm just brave waiting for the summerdays and I hope you will tell us a bit about your long journey when you will be back in Germany.
with love
Monika

It has been some time since the concert was staged but the DVD Chris De Burgh - Beautiful Dreams - Live still looks and sounds great. Maybe the audience is a bit quiet, you cannot get away from the sound quality and the great music with all the old favourites here.
Incidentally I got this as a present from family in the UK and my DVD died when I played it. Had to take it apart to recover the DVD and buy a new player. I was not disappointed with the wait though as Chris shows on the DVD why he deserves to be recognised for more than just The Lady in Red and Ferryman. My fandom goes way back to the day when me and my sister brought home his complilation album The Very Best Of Chris De Burgh on vinyl and I don't think it has ever been released on CD so I feel very very honoured that I still after all this time have it.

Hello Chris,
I am a real fan of you and your music since I was a young girl (now am 38). A concert you gave in Frankfurt many years ago was the first concert I went to. My dad came with me because he was afraid of his "little girl". When you sang "The Lady In Red" my father had tears in his eyes and this has never changed. This song always reminds him on me, his beloved daughter. Now my father celebrates his 70 birthday in April and as a special present for a real special father I bought two first category tickets of your concert in Hanau on August 15. I am convinced that my dad and I will enjoy a wonderful evening and I really hope that you will sing "The Lady in Red".
Thank you for your music.
I wish you the best for the future.

Dear Chris,
first of all I have to thank you for all magic moments with your music. The first LP I heard was the "best moves" album and I was enchained by your music. Tomorrow I will celebrate my 35th birthday and I still stuck on your music. I also listen to Metallica but for a real feeling and something for the heart you are the only one. :-) So I hope you will also stuck on your music and your way. I will see you in Schwetzingen in August and I wish that you will have some old songs in your baggage for us. Remember the old times also not only the one that gave you glory. Remember the "end of a perfect day" thats what I remember and what makes me sentimental. I wish you all the best health and all what you wish for yourself. I hope that I can drink a coffee when I will be in Ireland (like you anticipated in a TV show in the 80`s):-) CU in Schwetzingen. Take care Chris
